ஸம்ஸ்கிருதத்தின் உயர்வு; அதில் சுபாஷிதத்தின் பெருமை!

ஸம்ஸ்கிருதத்தின் உயர்வு பற்றியும் சுபாஷிதங்களின் பெருமை பற்றியும் ஏராளமான சுபாஷிதங்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் சில:-
பாஷாஷு மதுரா முக்யா திவ்யா கீர்வாணபாரதி |
தஸ்மாத் ஹி மதுரம் காவியம் தஸ்மாத் அபி சுபாஷிதம் ||
(மனித குலத்தில் உள்ள) மொழிகளில் எல்லாம் பாரதத்தில் உள்ள ஸம்ஸ்க்ருத மொழி இனிமையானது, மிக முக்கியமானது, தெய்வீகமானது மதுரமானது. அதிலும் அதில் உள்ள காவியங்கள் இனிமையானவை; அதிலும் இனிமையானவை அதில் உள்ள சுபாஷிதம்!
Among all the language (of mankind) Sanskruta the language of Bharat i.e India is the sweetest, the most distinct and truly divine. Sanskrutas poetic verses are so very melodious, and amonst them again the most delightful are her Subhasitas. (Translation by Manhar Jai)

கீர்வாண வாணீஷு விசிஷ்ட புத்திம்
தஸ்மாபி பாஷாந்தரலோலுபோஹம் |
யதா சுராணமம்ருதே ஸ்திதேபி
ஸ்வர்காங்கநாநாமமதராஸாவே ருசி: ||
அனைத்து மொழிகளின் மீதும் எனக்கு ஆசை உண்டு என்றாலும், எனக்கு கடவுளரின் மொழியில் – ஸம்ஸ்கிருதத்தின் மீது – ஒரு விசேஷமான ஆர்வம் உண்டு. ஏனெனில் எப்போதுமே அம்ருதம் கடவுளர் முன்னே இருந்தாலும் கூட ஸ்வர்க்க தேவதைகளின் அதர பானத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு ருசி உண்டு, அது போல!
I have a special intrest in the speech of the gods (Sanskrit language), nevertheless I have a liking for the other languages; for, though nectar is ever present before them, the gods have a taste for the liquor of the lips of the divine damsels. (Translation by S.B. Nair)

ப்ருதிவ்யாம் த்ரீணி ரத்னானி ஜலமன்னம் சுபாஷிதம் |
மூடை: பாஷாணகண்டேஷு ரத்னசம்ஞா விதீயதே ||
உலகில் மூன்றே மூன்று ரத்னங்கள் தாம் உள்ளன; ஜலம், அன்னம், சுபாஷிதம் ஆகியவையே அந்த மூன்று. மூடர்கள் பூமியிலிருந்து வெட்டி எடுக்கப்பட்ட சிறிய கற்களையே ரத்னம் என்று மதிக்கின்றனர்.
There are but three precious jewels on this earth: Water, food and gems of Speech. But ignoramuses (dull an stupid people) highly regard as precious, shining bits of stone (dug out from the bowels of the earth) (Translation by Manhar Jai)

ஏகவித்யாப்ரதானோபி பஹுஞானி பவேத் நர: |
சுபாஷிதானி சிக்ஷேத் யானி சாஸ்த்ரோத்வதானி வை ||
ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட அறிவை மனிதன் கொண்டிருக்கும் போது அது அவனை அதிக அறிவு கொண்டதாக ஆக்குகிறது; அது தான் சுபாஷிதங்களிலிருந்து அவன் பெரும் அறிவாகும்.
Particularly one knowledge when possessed by a man renders him rich; it is the knowledge learnt from wise sayings (Subhasita-s) drawn from the
sastra-s.

உத்கோசபாரிதோஷக பாடசுபாஷிததரார்தசௌர்யாஷா: |
தத்க்ஷணமேவ க்ராஹ்யா: ஷடயந்தகாலே ந லப்யதே ||
ஒரு மனிதனுக்கு ஆறு விஷயங்கள் முதல் தடவை தரப்படும், அந்தக் கணத்தின் போதே, ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும்; ஏனெனில் அவற்றைப் பெறும் இரண்டாவது வாய்ப்பு கிடைப்பது அரிது. அவையாவன, லஞ்சம், நல்ல விஷயத்திற்காகத் தரப்படும் பரிசு, வாடகை, சுபாஷிதம், திருட்டுப் பொருள்கள், பாரம்பர்ய சொத்திலிருந்து கிடைக்கும் ஒருவனுக்குரிய பங்கு.
There be six things a man should take the moment they are offered, lest he get no second chance of taking them; a bribe, a reward for good tidings, rent, a good saying (Subhasita), stolen goods, and one’s share of heritage. ((Translation by P.Peterson)

உச்சை: ஸ்திதீனாம் விதுஷாம் பதமாரோத்மிச்சவ: |
சத்சுபாஷிதசோபான- சேவின: சந்து சாதவ: ||
பண்டிதர்களிடையே உயர்நிலைக்குச் செல்ல விரும்புவோர் ஏணிப்படிகளாக அமையும் நல்ல சுபாஷிதங்களைக் கற்க வேண்டும்.
Those good men who wish to climb to the position of learned scholars occupying high positions, (should) resort to the (study of) staircase of good poetry. (subhasita-s) (Translation by A.A.R.)
