Part Two

ईर्षुर्लुब्धो द्युतिमान्वचनपटुः कलहकृद्विशाखासु ।
आढ्यो विदेशवासी क्षुधालुरटनोऽनुराधासु ॥ ९ ॥

īrṣurlubdho dyutimānvacanapaṭuḥ kalahakṛdviśākhāsu |
āḍhyo videśavāsī kṣudhāluraṭano’nurādhāsu || 9 ||

9. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Viśākhā will be jealous of another’s prosperity, will be a niggard, wall be of bright appearance and of distinct speech, will be skilled in the art of earning money, will be disposed to bring about enmity between persons. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Anurādhā will be rich, will live in foreign lands, will be unable to bear hunger and will be inclined to move from place to place.

ज्येष्ठासु न बहुमित्रः सन्तुष्टो धर्मकृत्प्रचुरकोपः ।
मूले मानी धनवान् सुखी न हिंस्रः स्थिरो भोगी ॥ १० ॥

jyeṣṭhāsu na bahumitraḥ santuṣṭo dharmakṛtpracurakopaḥ |
mūle mānī dhanavān sukhī na hiṃsraḥ sthiro bhogī || 10 ||

10. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Jyeṣṭhā will have very few friends, will be cheerful, virtuous and of irascible temper. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Mūla will be haughty, rich, happy, not disposed to injure other men, of firm views and will live in luxury.

इष्टानन्दकलत्रो वीरो दृढसौहृदश्च जलदेवे ।
वैश्वे विनीतधार्मिकबहुमित्रकृतज्ञसुभगश्च ॥ ११ ॥

iṣṭānandakalatro vīro dṛḍhasauhṛdaśca jaladeve |
vaiśve vinītadhārmikabahumitrakṛtajñasubhagaśca || 11 ||

11. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Pūrvāṣāḍha will have an agreeable wife, will be proud and will be attached to friends. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Uttarāṣāḍha will be obedient, will be learned in the rules of virtue, will possess many friends, will be grateful, will return favours received and will be generally liked.

श्रीमाच्छ्रवणे श्रुतवानुदारदारो धनान्वितः ख्यातः ।
दाताढ्यशूरगीतप्रियो धनिष्ठासु धनलुब्धः ॥ १२ ॥

śrīmācchravaṇe śrutavānudāradāro dhanānvitaḥ khyātaḥ |
dātāḍhyaśūragītapriyo dhaniṣṭhāsu dhanalubdhaḥ || 12 ||

12. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Śravaṇa will be prosperous and learned, will have a liberal-minded wife, will be rich and of wide-spread fame. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Dhaniṣṭhā will be liberal in his gifts, will be rich, valiant, will be fond of music and will be a niggard.

स्फुटवाग्व्यसनी रिपुहा साहसिकः शतभिषक्सु दुर्ग्राह्यः ।
भद्रपदासूद्विग्नः स्त्रीजितधनपटुरदाता च ॥ १३ ॥

sphuṭavāgvyasanī ripuhā sāhasikaḥ śatabhiṣaksu durgrāhyaḥ |
bhadrapadāsūdvignaḥ strījitadhanapaṭuradātā ca || 13 ||

13. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Śatabhiṣaj will be harsh in his speech, will be truthful, will suffer grief, will conquer his enemies, will thoughtlessly engage in works and will be of independent ways. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Pūrvabhādrapada will suffer from grief, will place his wealth at the disposal of his wife, will be of distinct speech, will be skilled in earning money and will be a niggard.

वक्ता सुखी प्रजावान् जितशत्रुर्धार्मिको द्वितीयासु ।
सम्पूर्णाङ्गः सुभगः शूरः शुचिरर्थवान्पौष्णे ॥ १४ ॥

vaktā sukhī prajāvān jitaśatrurdhārmiko dvitīyāsu |
sampūrṇāṅgaḥ subhagaḥ śūraḥ śucirarthavānpauṣṇe || 14 ||

14. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Uttarabhādrapada will be an able speaker, will be happy, will possess children and grand-children, will conquer his enemies and will be virtuous. A person born when the Moon passes through the asterism of Revatī will possess perfect limbs, will be of amiable manners, will be deeply learned, will never covet the property of other persons and will be rich.

[Note—The effects described in this chapter will fully come to pass if the Moon be powerful.]
