இறுதிப் பகுதியில் முக்கிய அம்சங்கள்:
இவருக்கு திருமணம் நடந்து மனைவி வீட்டுக்கு வந்தாள். மனைவியுடன் சுமுக உறவு. ஆனால் தந்தையிடம் சுமுக உறவு இல்லை.
இரண்டாவதுமுறை, குடற் சிக்கல் நோய் வந்து அபூர்வமாகப் பிழைத்தார். அதுவரை ஆன்மீகம் என்று வாளாவிருந்த ஐயர்,
பணத்துக்காக பிரபோத சந்திரிகை என்னும் பத்திரிக்கையை துவங்க எண்ணி, இவரை ஆதரித்து வந்தோரின் எதிர்ப்பையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் அறிவிப்பு வெளியிட்டார்.
மூன்றாம் முறை மிகவும்கடுமையான நோய் வந்தது. அப்பொழுது குருநாதர் சாந்தாநந்தா அங்கே வந்தது இவருக்கு உற்சாகம் தந்தது.
கடும் நோயிலும் குருநாதருக்கு பாத பூஜை செய்ய ஆசைப்பட்டார். குருநாதரே அதைத் தடுத்துவிட்டார். அங்குள்ள சூழ்நிலை அவருக்கு புரிந்தது.
நோய்முற்றி 26-ம் வயதில் அமரரானார். இவர் வேதாந்தம் பற்றி எழுதிய விஷயங்கள் தனி ஒரு புஸ்தகமாக வெளியானது. இந்த வாழ்க்கைச் சரித நூல் 1909ல் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.
இவர் எப்போதோ எழுதிய வேதாந்த விஷயம், பிரிட்டிஷ் ராஜ விரோதமான செயல் என்று கருதி அதை விசாரிக்க போலீஸ், ராஜம் ஐயர் வீட்டுக்கு வந்தது. அதாவது அவர் இறந்து தகனம் ஆன இரண்டு நாட்களுக்குப் பின்னர்! (see pages 60 and 61 below)
அன்றுமட்டும் இவர் உயிரோடு இருந்திருந்தால் ஒருவேளை தியாகி என்ற பட்டமும் கிடைத்திருக்கும்!
தமிழுக்கும் ஆன்மீகத்துக்கும் உயிர்கொடுத்த உத்தமர்.
வத்தல குண்டு கிராமத்துக்கு வரலாற்றில் அழியாத இடம் பெற்றுத் தந்தவர்.
வாழ்க ராஜம் ஐயர்! வளர்க அவர் புகழ்!!

/ March 7, 2019First time so much information has been available on Rajam Iyer. The collection of his English essays on Vedanta titled “Rambles in Vedanta” is voluminous- running into more than 800 pages, It is now not available. The last edition was by Motilal Banarsidass more than 20 years ago.
2. The Magazine ‘Prabuddha Bharata” that he started was later restarted by the Ramakrishna Math. It is now in its 124th year.
3. During Iyer’s times, most people who came into contact with Swami Vivekananda became ardent nationalists. Even many youngsters who wanted to join the Math were nationalists and the police suspected the Math of sheltering them .. Sister Nivedita herself was a staunch supporter of Indian nationalism. In that sense, she was both the spiritual and nationalistic disciple of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Brahmananda, the first President, who wanted to avoid any conflict with the police asked Sister Nivedita to severe her connections with the Math in view of her political leanings. And Sister Nivedita distanced herself from the RK Math. No wonder therefore that police came in search of Iyer. who knows what turn our nationalism would have taken had Vivekananda lived longer!
Sir V.V.S. Iyer too died rather young, at 44. Tamil Nadu has forgotten both of them.
