Stone from Sita Eliya In Sri Lanka To Be Used In Ram Mandir Construction

A stone from Sita Eliya, the place in Sri Lanka where Hindu goddess Sita is believed to have been held captive by Ravana, will be used in the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Indian High Commission in Colombo said that this will serve as a pillar of strength for India-Lanka ties.

Milinda Moragoda, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to India is expected to bring the ancient stone to India. 

This stone was received at Mayurapathi Amman Temple by HC-designate of Sri Lanka to India HE Mr. Milinda Moragoda in presence of the High Commissioner,” the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka tweeted on Thursday.

A temple in Sita Eliya is dedicated to Goddess Sita and is said to mark the place where she was held captive by the Lankan king Ravana and where she regularly prayed to Lord Rama for her rescue.

En route to Hakgala Gardens, the vibrant and colourful temple known as the Seetha Amman Temple can be spotted.

Amarnath Yatra 2021 Date: Annual Pilgrimage To Start From June 28; Registration From April 1

The authorities have decided to begin the registration process for the 56-day long annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnathji in south Kashmir Himalayas April 1

Last year the annual yatra to the 3,880-metre high holy cave shrine was cancelled due to rise in Covid-19 cases all over the country

The Amarnath cave, located in the Indian state of Kashmir, is one of the most famous shrines in Hinduism

Inside the main Amarnath cave is an ice stalagmite resembling the Shiva Linga, which waxes during May to August and gradually wanes thereafter.

The cave is situated about 141 km (88 mi) from Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir.

It is a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus – about 400,000 people visit during the 45-day season around the festival of Shravani Mela in July-August, coinciding with the Hindu holy month of Shravan.

Devotees generally take the 42 km (26 mi) pilgrimage on foot from the town of Pahalgam, about 96 km (60 mi) from Srinagar, and cover the journey in four to five days.

During the past fifty years, the ice Shivlingam has shrunk in size. While weather does affect its shape and size, many environmentalists blame global warming for the condition.

Kumbh shahi Snaan: April 12, 14 peak days;

Uttarakhand Police to ramp up measures if visitors number touches 1 crore

With April 12 and 14 being the peak days in the 2021 Kumbh Mela, the Uttarakhand Police will ensure the forces are extra careful with the measures so that an untoward situation such as a stampede can be avoided.

“April 12 and April 14 are peak days as there’s Kumbh ‘shahi snan’. Steps will be taken to avoid a stampede if the crowd number reaches a crore. We’ll be extra careful with people from states with rising Covid-19 cases. Letters will be sent to all states,” Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said.

The Union Health Ministry had on Monday said that a high-level central team led by Dr SK Singh, Director of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), will be deputed to Haridwar to review public health arrangements and medical care for the Kumbh Mela that starts on April 1.

News from Kerala

After a gap of one year, Pooram fans and representatives of participating temples are all in joy as the meeting in the presence of Chief Secretary P J Joy on Monday granted permission for organising Thrissur Pooram with all its charm and glory this time, but abiding by the Covid protocol.

All ceremonies including kudamattam and parading of the usual number of elephants are allowed.

Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu devaswoms along with Cochin Devaswom Board and authorities of other participating temples are all set to start preparations for the pooram and exhibition. 

District Collector S Shanavas said the pooram would be conducted this time as demanded by the public and devaswoms, but with Covid protocol in place.

The pooram falls on April 23 this year, while its rituals begin seven days before that with flag hoisting. The pooram exhibition used to begin a month before the festival and thousands of people usually visit the hundreds of stalls here

The Thrissur Pooram, considered to be the mother of all temple festivals in Kerala, will be held on April 23 this year.

The fireworks and Pooram displays will be held as usual and 15 elephants have been allowed for the procession and the kudamattam (umbrella changing) ceremony.

Muslim hardliners not amused by Khader’s Hindu temple visit 

Leaders of Muslim organisations, who are traditionally loyal to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), have resented party leader KNA Khader’s gestures at the Guruvayur temple during a visit in connection with election campaigning. Khader, the sitting MLA from Vengara, is the IUML candidate from the Guruvayur constituency.

In an FaceBook post, Muslim Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) state secretary Abdul Hameed Faizy Ambalakkadavu objected to Khader’s deeds and words at the temple. Faizy found Khader’s words like “Lord Guruvayurappan will certainly read my mind and has blessed me” and the god “will certainly accept the “aval pothi from this Kuchela” un-Islamic. He said there is a chapter in Islamic scriptures which explains actions that will eject a person from Islam. He said even a cursory reading of the chapter will make one realise the gravity of Khader’s actions.

Dattatreya Hosabale is RSS’s new general secretary

Dattatreya Hosabale was Saturday appointed as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) new sarkaryavah or general secretary.

Election to the post was held during the RSS’s top-decision making body Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha’s (ABPS) annual meeting held in Bengaluru.

Hosabale, who had been one of the RSS joint general secretaries since 2009, replaces Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, who held the position for 12 years. 

The post of the general secretary is the second highest executive post in the RSS after the post of sarsanghchalak, currently held by Mohan Bhagwat.

“Bhaiyyaji Joshi requested that he should be relieved from his responsibility as he felt that with age he also would like to step down. Dattatreya Hosabale has been elected unanimously,” said Arun Kumar, RSS national media head. 

Hosabale, popularly known as ‘Datta ji’ in the RSS, belongs to a small village in Shivamogga district in Karnataka, from a family associated with the Sangh Parivar. Erudite and an effective orator, Hosabale has a post-graduate degree in English Literature with a keen interest in foreign affairs.

Joining the Sangh in 1968, he was associated with the students’ wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and served as its general secretary for 15 years.

RSS VIEWS ON LOVE JIHADS

The Rashtriya Seva Sangha (RSS) is against all forms of untouchability and caste discrimination, but at the same time the organisation wants laws to regulate ‘love jihad’, said the newly-elected RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, in Bengaluru on Saturday. 

Speaking after getting elected as RSS Sarkaryavah on the second day of the two-day Akhila Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in Bengaluru, he said that Karnataka and Kerala High Courts have confirmed the incidence of love jihad.

“The use of fraudulent methods to lure girls into marriage and conversion is condemnable and has to be opposed. Suitable laws and regulations have to brought in and RSS will support such laws,” he said.

Hindu houses attacked in Bangladesh

Several hundred people from three villages on Wednesday morning carried out a fierce attack on the minority Hindu community in village Naogram of Salla upazila in Sunamganj in Bangladesh, damaging several dozens of houses following a Facebook post by a Hindu youth against Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Mamunul Haque.

The attack carried out several hours after the members of the Hindu community handed over the youth, Jhuman Das Apan, 28, an employee of a private firm, to the local police for his alleged Facebook post.

Witnesses said that the villagers from Santashpur, Natni and Chandrapur villages of Dirai upazila jointly carried out the attacks on over 50 houses of Hindu- populated areas of the village Naogram ransacking houses, allegedly looting valuables and damaging their idols inside their family temples.

No causalities, however, were reported as Naogram residents went into hiding sensing trouble and the local administration and police dispersed the attackers.

The Sunamganj district deputy commissioner and district magistrate Zakir Hossain said in their primary inquiry that they found that the supporters of the Hefazat-e-Islami carried out the attack.

He said that the local authorities promptly reacted.

ஜெய் ஜெகந்நாத்! ஜெய் ஜெகந்நாத்! ஜெய் ஜெகந்நாத்!

ஆலயம் அறிவோம்! வழங்குவது பிரஹன்நாயகி சத்யநாராயணன். ஆலயம் அறிவோம் .

தொடரில் இன்று நமது யாத்திரையில் இடம் பெறுவது புரி ஜகந்நாதர் ஆலயம் ஆகும். ஒடிஸா மாநிலத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்தத் தலம்.

புவனேஸ்வரிலிருந்து 60 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ளது. இந்தத் தலம் பற்றிய வரலாறு ஒன்று உண்டு. ஜரா என்ற வேடனின் அம்பால் உயிர் துறந்த கிருஷ்ணரின் உடல் கடலில் ஒரு மரம் போல் மிதக்க, கிருஷ்ணர் கனவில் கூறியவாறு அதை, புரியை ஆண்டு வந்த இந்திரதுய்மன் என்னும் மன்னன் எடுத்து, ஒரு சிலையை அமைக்க ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்தான். பெருமாளே ஒரு முதிய தச்சர் வேடத்தில் தோன்றி 21 நாட்கள் யாரும் தான் வேலை செய்யும் அறையைத் திறக்கக் கூடாது என்ற நிபந்தனையின் பேரில் சிற்ப வேலையை ஆரம்பித்தார்.  15 நாட்கள் அறையிலிருந்து சத்தம் கேட்டது. அதன் பின்னர் கேட்கவில்லை. மூன்று நாட்கள் பொறுத்த மன்னன் பின்னர் அவசரப்பட்டு அறைக் கதவைத் திறந்தான். தச்சர், “21 நாட்கள் திறக்கக் கூடாது என்ற நிபந்தனையை  நீ  ஏன் மீறினாய். ஆகவே அரைகுறையாக உள்ள சிலையை அப்படியே பிரதிஷ்டை செய். இதை தரிசிக்க வருவோர் பொறுமையாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தை அடைவர்” என்று கூறினார். அங்கிருந்த பலராமர், சுபத்ரா, ஜெகந்நாதர் ஆகிய சிலைகளை முகம் மற்றும் கைகள் மட்டுமே காணும் நிலையில் அரசன் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்தான்.

கால கிரமத்தில் இந்தக் கோவிலை 1135ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆனந்தவர்மன் என்ற அரசன் புதுப்பித்தான். 12 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை இங்குள்ள மரத்தினாலான திருமேனிகள் புதுப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது. ஆண்டு தோறும் புரி ஜகந்நாதரின் ரத யாத்திரை பல லட்சம் மக்களை ஈர்க்கும் உலகப் பெரும் தேர்த்திருவிழா ஆகும். பத்து லட்சம் மக்கள் இந்த ரத யாத்திரையில் கலந்து கொண்டு ஜெகந்நாதரின் அருளுக்குப் பாத்திரமாகின்றனர்.

16 சக்கரங்களைக் கொண்ட சிவப்பு மஞ்சள் நிறத் தேரில் புரி ஜெகந்நாதரும், 14 சக்கரங்கள் கொண்ட சிவப்பு பச்சை நிறமுடைய தேரில் பலபத்ரரும் 12 சக்கரங்கள் கொண்ட சிவப்பு கறுப்பு நிறத் தேரில் சுபத்ரா தேவியும் தேர்வலம் வருவர். ஒவ்வொரு தேர்ச்சக்கரமும் 7 அடி குறுக்களவு கொண்டது. ஜகந்நாதரின் தேரின் உயரம் 45 அடி ஆறு அங்குலம்; அகலம் 34 அடி ஆறு அங்குலமாகும். இந்தத் தேர்கள் வருடா வருடம் புதிதாக செய்யப்படுகின்றன. தேர் கட்டுவதில் வல்லவர்களான தச்சர்களால் குறிப்பிட்ட மரங்கள் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு அவை மஹாநதியில் மிதக்கவிடப்படுகின்றன. அவற்றை புரி அருகே எடுத்து குறிப்பிட்ட முறைப்படி இந்த விசேஷமான தேர்கள் அமைக்கப்படுகின்றன.

தேரோடும் வீதியை தங்கத் துடைப்பத்தால் மன்னர் பெருக்கிச் சுத்தம் செய்வதுப் பாரம்பரியமாக இன்றளவும் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.

முதலில் பலபத்ரர் தேர், அடுத்து சுபத்ரா தேவி தேர், பின்னர் இறுதியில்  நந்திகோஷ ரதம் எனப்படும் புரி ஜெகந்நாதர் தேர் முறையாகப் புறப்படும். ஆடி மாதம் இரண்டாம் நாள் துவங்கும் இந்த உற்சவம் தொடர்ந்து ஒன்பது நாட்கள் நடைபெறும். குண்டிச்சா கோவில் நோக்கிப் புறப்படும் இந்த ரத யாத்திரை மவுசிமா கோவில் வழியே செல்லும். அங்கு ஜெகந்நாதர் ஓய்வு எடுப்பார். பின்னர் மீண்டும் தேர்கள் புறப்பட்டு ஜெகந்நாதர் கோவிலை அடையும்.

புரி கோவிலில் முதலில் சிங்க த்வார் வழியே நுழைந்து 22 படிகள் ஏறி சந்நிதிக்குச் செல்ல வேண்டும். உள்ளே நுழைந்தவுடன் தீபத்தை வழிபடுதல் மரபு. ஜகந்நாதர் சந்நிதிக்கு இடது பக்கம் சுபத்ராவும் பலபத்ரரும் இருந்து அருள் பாலிக்கின்றனர். கோவில் கூரையில் கிருஷ்ண லீலை ஓவியங்கள் அழகுறத் திகழ்கின்றன.

இறைவனுக்கு 56 வகையிலான பிரசாதங்கள் நைவேத்யம் செய்யப்பட்ட பின் இந்த மஹா பிரசாதம் அனைத்து பக்தர்களுக்கும் இங்கு வழங்கப்படுகிறது. புரியில் கோவர்த்தன பீடத்தை ஆதி சங்கரர் அமைத்தார். ஜெயதேவரும் கிருஷ்ண சைதன்யரும் இங்கு வழிபாடு நடத்தி வாழ்ந்தனர்.

குருநானக்கைப் பற்றிய ஒரு சுவையான வரலாறு உண்டு. குருநானக் 1508ஆம் ஆண்டு இங்கு யாத்திரையாக தன் சீடருடன் வந்தார். அவரை கோவில் உள்ளே அர்ச்சகர் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. கடற்கரைத் தலமான புரியில் உள்ள, கடற்கரைக்குச் சென்றார் குரு நானக். அவரது சிஷ்யர் பசியால் வாடினார். அப்போது பெருமாளே ஒரு வயோதிகர் வேடம் பூண்டு தங்கத் தாம்பாளத்தில் உணவைக் கொண்டு வந்து தந்தார். அன்று இரவு அரசர் கனவில், பெருமாள் தான் செய்ததை அரசனுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார். மறு நாள் கோவிலில் தங்கத் தாம்பாளத்தைக் காணாத அர்ச்சகர் அதை மன்னனிடம் தெரிவிக்க மன்னர் புன்சிரிப்புடன் அனைவரையும் அழைத்து கடற்கரை நோக்கி விரைந்தார். அங்கிருந்த மஹான் குருநானக் அவர்களை வணங்கி அவரைக் கோவிலுக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார். நடந்ததை அனைவரும் அறிந்து குருநானக்கைப் போற்றினர். குரு நானக், புரி ஜகந்நாதர் உலகம் முழுமைக்கும் உடையவர் என்பதை மெய்ப்பித்ததோடு  ‘ககன் மெய்ன்’ (Gagan Mein) என்னும் ஒரு அரிய ஆரத்தியையும் பாடி அருளினார். 

காலம் காலமாக பக்தர்கள் வழிபட்டு வரும் பலபத்ரரும் சுபத்ரா தேவியும், புரி ஜெகந்நாதரும் அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.

जगन्नाथाष्टकं पुन्यं यः पठेत् प्रयतः शुचिः ।                सर्वपाप विशुद्धात्मा विष्णुलोकं स गच्छति ||

புத்தர் ஒரு மரத்தின் அடியில் அமர்ந்திருந்தார். அவரது சீடர்களும், மக்களும் அவர் முன் குழுமி இருந்தனர்.

மக்களில் ஒருவன் எழுந்து கேட்டான் :”ஐயனே! கர்மா என்றால் என்ன?”

புத்தர் அவனைப் பார்த்து, “நான் ஒரு கதை சொல்கிறேன்” என்று ஆரம்பித்தார். ஒரு ஊரில் ஒரு அரசன் இருந்தான். அவன் ஒரு நாள் ஊரைச்
