ஒரு கோடி சில லிங்கங்களை அமைக்க வேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இந்த கோவிலில் காணும் இடமெல்லாம் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான லிங்கங்கள் அணிவகுத்து அமைந்திருப்பதையும், அதற்கெல்லாம் மகுடமாக 108 அடி உயர பிரமாண்டமான சிவ லிங்கத்தையும்கண்டு பக்தர்கள் பக்தி பரவசமடைகின்றனர்.
இங்கு மகா சிவராத்திரியை முன்னிட்டு கர்நாடக மாநிலம் மட்டுமின்றி தமிழ்நாடு, ஆந்திர மாநிலங்களை சேர்ந்த பக்தர்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் குவிந்தனர். காலை முதலே நடந்த சிறப்பு பூஜையில் பக்தர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு , சாமி கும்பிட்டனர்.

Prime Minister Modi urges youth to read Bhagwad Gita, says it is ‘practical guide for life’
Prime Minister Modi also spoke about how philosophers and saints like Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, and Swami Vivekananda perceived the Gita dynamically.
The Kindle version was launched to commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the Swami Chidbhavanandaji’s Bhagavad Gita.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the youth of the country to read the Bhagwad Gita as he launched an e-book version of Swami Chidbhavananda’s commentaries on the ancient Hindu scripture, which is a part of the epic Mahabharata.
“In the middle of the fast-paced life, the Gita will provide an oasis. It is a practical guide for several dimensions of life,” PM Modi said as he extending his congratulations on the launch.
The Prime Minister also said the Gita inspires us to question and makes us think. “It encourages debate and keeps our minds open. Anybody who is inspired by Gita will always be compassionate by nature and democratic in temperament,” he added.
Swami Chidbhavanandaji, the founder of Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam Ashram, in Tamil Nadu has written 186 books in all genres of literary composition. However, his scholarly work on the Gita is one of the most celebrated ones.
The Tamil version of the Gita with his commentaries was published in 1951, followed by the English in 1965. Its translations into Telugu, Oriya, German and Japanese were undertaken by devotees.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released 11 volumes of manuscripts with commentaries by 21 scholars on Srimad Bhagavad Gita shlokas, highlighting how the depth of the holy text was brought out through the different interpretations by the scholars.
“Today we are releasing 11 volumes bringing together 20 interpretations of Srimad Bhagavad Gita. I respectfully salute all the scholars who have tried for this pious work, every person associated with it, and every effort of theirs,” said PM Modi.
“These different interpretations on every verse of a single scripture, the expression of so many mystics, is a symbol of the depth of the Gita to which thousands of scholars have given their entire lives. It is also a symbol of the ideological freedom of India, which motivates every person to express his views. The Gita is for the whole world. It has been translated into many languages of the world, research on it is being done in many countries, he added.

Devotees throng Nepal’s Pashupatinath temple in lakhs on Maha Shivaratri
Over 5 lakh devotees, including thousands from India, thronged the iconic Pashupatinath Temple in KATHMANDU , capital city of Nepal on Thursday on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
Pilgrims were spaced evenly in the queues, donning of masks and sanitising of hands were made compulsory.
“Arrangements were done in such a manner that the visitors could view the presiding deity within half an hour,” the official said.
Strict security measures were also in place to control the large number of devotees.
Authorities said the temple gates were opened at 4 am and that about 5 lakh footfalls were recorded till about evening.
The number is set to rise as the temple will receive devotees till late night. The visiting devotees were mostly Hindus from Nepal and India.
Groups of Sadhus who arrived from India on the occasion have been provided with ‘prasadam’ and accommodation, the official said.
Pashupatinath Temple is the largest temple complex in Nepal and stretches on both sides of the Bagmati River and sees thousands of worshippers from Nepal and India daily.

Haridwar Mahakumbh 2021: First holy bath on March 11
The first Shahi Snan or holy bath Of Mahakumbh 2021 at Haridwar was held on March 11, Thursday, on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.
It was one of the massive congregations of devotees during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The mela, which will be a one-month affair this time owing to Covid-19, spans over Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Dehradun.
The second Shahi Snan is on April 12, the third on April 14 and the fourth on April 27.

Sabarimala issue a closed chapter, says Kerala Devaswom Minister ahead of elections
Kerala State Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Thursday said the incidents at the Sabarimala shrine in 2018 were saddening to all but a closed chapter now. “The issue at Sabarimala in 2018 is a closed chapter for Kerala. That was painful and saddening to all of us. It should not have happened,” he said referring to the controversial entry of women and the slew of protests at the shrine at that time.
The minister’s comments ahead of the assembly elections are viewed as an attempt by the LDF to prevent a repeat of the backlash it faced in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The minister said further actions by his government on the issue will be in consultation with believers.
“The government has clearly stated its stand. The case is under consideration of a larger bench of the Supreme Court. I repeat, whatever be the verdict, the government will take a decision on it after consultations with devotees, political parties and the general public,” he told media persons.

Three Hindu Mahasabha workers arrested for offering prayers to Shiva in Taj Mahal complex
Three members of the Hindu Mahasabha were arrested on Thursday for offering prayers to Lord Shiva inside the Taj Mahal compound, police said.
A case was registered against the trio, including a woman, after they were apprehended by Central Industrial Security Force personnel deployed at the monument and handed over to the police, Inspector Umesh Chandra Tripathi of Tajganj police station said.
Police said Meena Diwakar, the provincial president of the Hindu Mahasabha, started praying along with the other two on a bench near the central tank in the complex.
The Mughal-era monument is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India

Thrissur Pooram gets political colour
With the Kerala assembly elections around the corner, organisers of the state’s most famous festival, Thrissur Pooram, have started mounting pressure on the government to take a final decision on allowing the full rituals and ceremonies this time. And the opposition Congress and BJP have extended their support to the demand.
Unlike last year when the festival was limited to temple rituals in view of the Covid restrictions, the organisers know that the LDF government cannot ignore their demand, especially in the backdrop of the Lok Sabha poll setback the front had suffered in 2019 because of the public anger over its Sabarimala gamble.
In a meeting with District Collector S Shanavas on Tuesday, representatives of Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu devaswoms sought a final decision on the matter so that arrangements can be made accordingly.
Both devaswoms have taken a stand to not compromise on the rituals and elephant parade of the pooram this time. At the meeting, the collector did not commit himself on this and left the decision to the state government

Arvind Kejriwal announces free visit for elderly to Ram temple once completed
DELHI Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced facilitating free pilgrimage for Delhi’s senior citizens to the Ram temple in Ayodhya and asserted that his government follows 10 principles inspired by the concept of ‘Ram Rajya’ to the serve the people.
The 10 principles listed by him are providing food, education, medical care, electricity, water, employment, housing, security for women and honouring the elderly.
“I am a devotee of Lord Ram and Hanuman. We have been following 10 principles inspired by the concept of ‘Ram Rajya’ to serve the people of Delhi,” Kejriwal said during a discussion on the address to the Delhi Assembly by the Lieutenant Governor earlier this week.
“We have taken many steps to honour our elderly, the most important being sending them on free pilgrimages. I want to tell all senior citizens in Delhi that I will send you to Ram temple in Ayodhya once the construction work is completed.”
The construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is expected to be completed in 36-40 months.

Only 24,000 people got opportunity to perform ‘bali tharpanam’ at Aluva in Kerala
The Aluva Siva temple has made elaborate arrangements to during Sivaratri festival adhering to the Covid protocol. However, only 24,000 people were allowed to perform bali tharpanam (offering to propitiate their ancestors). The bali started at 4am on March 12 and finished at noon.
The banks of Periyar at Aluva has been divided into five sectors and only 200 people were allowed to offer bali in each sector at one time. There were 10 balithara or platforms to perform bali in each sector

ஆலயம் அறிவோம்! வழங்குவது பிரஹன்நாயகி சத்யநாராயணன். ஆலயம் அறிவோம் தொடரில் இன்று நமது யாத்திரையில் இடம் பெறுவது 108 திவ்ய க்ஷேத்திரங்களுள் ஒன்றான பத்ரிநாத் தலம் ஆகும்.
உத்தராஞ்சல் மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள இந்தத் தலம் ரிஷி கேசத்திலிருந்து 295 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ளது. கடல் மட்டத்திலிருந்து 10170 அடி உயரத்தில் இது உள்ளது.
சத்ய யுகத்தில் இதன் பெயர் முக்திப்ரதா; த்ரேதா யுகத்தில் இதன் பெயர் யோகசித்திகா. த்வாபர யுகத்தில் இதன் பெயர் மணிபத்ரிகா ஆஸ்ரமம். ஆகவே பல யுகம் கடந்த புண்ய ஸ்தலம் இது.
நரனும் நாராயணரும் தவம் செய்த இந்தத் தலத்தைப் பற்றிய சுவையான புராண வரலாறு ஒன்று உண்டு.
சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலன் என்று ஒரு கொடிய அசுரன் இருந்தான். மிகப் பெரும் வலிமை படைத்த அவனுக்கு ஆயிரம் குண்டலங்களும் ஆயிரம் கவசங்களும் இருந்தன. அவன் பிரம்மாவை நோக்கிக் கடும் தவம் புரிந்தான். பிரம்மா நேரில் தோன்ற, அவரிடம், “ பிரம்மதேவனே, எனக்கு இறப்பே இருக்கக் கூடாது” என்று சாகாமல் இருக்க அவன் ஒரு வரம் வேண்டினான். பிரம்மாவோ, “சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலா! பிறந்த உயிர் இறந்தே ஆக வேண்டும். இது இயற்கை நியதி. ஆகவே வேறு வரம் கேள், தருகிறேன்” என்றார்.
யோசித்த சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலன், “ஐயனே! என்னுடைய ஒரு குண்டலத்தையும் கவசத்தையும் அறுத்தவர்கள் உடனே இறக்க வேண்டும். ஆயிரம் கவசமும் ஆயிரம் குண்டலங்களும் அறுக்கப்பட்டால் நான் இறக்க வேண்டும். அதற்கான வரத்தை அருளுங்கள்” என சாமர்த்தியமாக இப்படி வரம் கேட்டான்.
பிரம்மா அப்படியே அந்த வரத்தை அவனுக்கு வழங்கினார். இப்படி ஒரு வரத்தைப் பெற்ற சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலன் முனிவர்களையும் தேவர்களையும் இன்னும் கொடிய முறையில் துன்புறுத்த ஆரம்பித்தான்.
இந்தக் கொடுமை அளவுக்கு மீறிப் போக அனைவரும் திருமாலிடம் சென்று முறையிட்டனர். அவர்களை நோக்கிய நாராயணர், “அஞ்ச வேண்டாம். நானே அவனை அழிக்கிறேன்” என்று உறுதி கூறி அருளினார். விஷ்ணு நரன் என்றும் நாராயணன் என்றும் தன்னை இரு மூர்த்திகளாகப் பிரித்துக் கொண்டார். இருவரும் இமயமலையில் பத்ரிகாஸ்ரமத்தில் வந்து தவம் புரிய ஆரம்பித்தனர். ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் சென்ற பின், நாராயணர் நரனை நோக்கி, “நரனே, நான் சென்று சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலனோடு போர் புரிந்து அவனது ஒரு கவசத்தையும் ஒரு குண்டலத்தையும் அறுப்பேன். பிரம்மாவின் வரத்தின் படி நான் இறப்பேன். அங்கு வந்து நீ என்னை உயிர்ப்பித்து விடு” என்றார்.
அப்படியே நாராயணர் சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலனின் ஒரு குண்டலம் மற்றும் ஒரு கவசத்தை அறுத்தார்; உயிரைத் துறந்தார். அங்கு சென்ற நரன், நாராயணரை உயிர்ப்பித்து தான் சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலனுடன் போரிட ஆரம்பித்தான். நாராயணர் தவம் செய்யச் சென்றார். இப்படியே ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் மாறி மாறி ஒருவர் தவம் செய்ய இன்னொருவர் போர் புரிந்து இறக்க சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலனின் 999 குண்டலங்களும் கவசங்களும் அறுக்கப்பட்டன. இறுதியாக இருந்தது ஒரு குண்டலம்; ஒரு கவசம். தன் உயிருக்குப் பயந்த அசுரன் சூரிய பகவானிடம் ஓடி அவரிடம் தஞ்சம் புகுந்தான். சூரியன் அவனுக்கு அடைக்கலம் தந்து அவனைத் தன் உடலில் ஐக்கியம் செய்து கொண்டார். காலம் சென்றது. குந்தி தேவியானவள் துர்வாச முனிவருக்கு ஒராண்டு பணிவிடை செய்து பெற்ற மந்திரத்தை உச்சரிக்க, சூரிய பகவான் சஹஸ்ரகுண்டலனுடைய ஆவியை குந்தியின் உதரத்தில் வைத்து அருளினார். கவச குண்டலத்துடன் கர்ணன் பிறந்தான். நர நாராயணர்கள் இருவரும் அர்ஜுனன், கிருஷ்ணனாகத் தோன்றினர். அர்ஜுனன் கர்ணனைக் கொன்றான். இப்படி நரனும் நாராயணரும் பல்லாண்டுகள் தவம் புரிந்த க்ஷேத்திரமே பத்ரிகாஸ்ரமம். பத்ரி என்றால் இலந்தை என்று பொருள். பத்ரிகாஸ்ரமம் ஒரு இலந்தை வனம். அலக்நந்தா நதிக் கரையில் அமைந்துள்ளது இது. அருகில் ரிஷிகங்கா அலக்நந்தா நதியுடன் கூடுகிறது.
இந்தத் தலம் நீலகண்ட மலைச் சிகரத்தின் கீழே அமைந்து கண்கொள்ளாக் காட்சியைத் தருகிறது. பத்ரிநாதரின் பாதத் தடங்கள் இங்குள்ள ஒரு பாறையில் பதிந்துள்ளதை இன்றும் தரிசிக்கலாம்.இங்குள்ள கோயில் கிழக்கு நோக்கியது. தெற்கில் அலக்நந்தா ஓடுகிறது. கோவில் ஆறு மாதம் மட்டுமே – வைகாசி முதல் ஐப்பசி முடிய – திறந்திருக்கும். இறைவர் :பத்ரி நாராயணர் தாயார்: மஹாலக்ஷ்மி. ஸ்தல விருக்ஷம் லக்ஷ்மி சொரூபமான இலந்தை மரம். தீர்த்தம் தப்த குண்டம். இது கோவிலுக்கு எதிரில் உள்ளது. இது ஒரு வெந்நீர் ஊற்று. விமானம் தப்த காஞ்சன விமானம். கிருஷ்ண பகவான் உத்தவருக்கு உபதேசித்த கீதை உத்தவ கீதையாகும். உபதேசமெல்லாம் முடிந்த பின்னர் உத்தவரை பத்ரிகாஸ்ரமம் சென்று தவம் புரியக் கூறியதால் அவர் இங்கு வந்து தவம் செய்தார். ஆதிசங்கரர் இங்கு வழிபாட்டை நடத்தியதோடு பூஜை கிரமங்களையும் வகுத்தார். இன்றும் கேரள நம்பூதிரிகளே இங்கு பூஜை வழிபாடுகளைச் செய்து வருகின்றனர்.
பத்ரிநாத்தின் தென்மேற்காக 10 கிலோமீட்டர் சென்று மலையைப் பார்த்தால் அது அப்படியே இந்திய வரைபடத்தைக் காட்டும் காட்சி அதிசயத்திலும் அதிசயமான ஒரு காட்சியாகும். இப்படி ஏராளமான சிறப்புகளும் வரலாறுகளும் உள்ள இந்தத் தலத்திற்கு பெரியாழ்வாரும் திருமங்கையாழ்வாரும் மங்களாசாஸனம் செய்து அருளியுள்ளனர்.
காலம் காலமாக பக்தர்கள் வழிபட்டு வரும் பத்ரிநாராயணரும் மஹாலக்ஷ்மியும், அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.

Amazing similarities between Panini and Tolkappiar are seen when they talk about auspicious or benedictory words or sayings. There is a convention in Hinduism that they should always begin a book or a speech with invocation to god or with some good and positive words. It will be in the beginning middle and at the end. In olden days all films, novels finished with the word “Subham”.
Tolkappiam uses the Sanskrit word ‘Mangala’, ‘Nimittam’, that is about good and auspicious times. Surprisingly , Panini’s sentence is also found in the middle.
Tolkappiar also repeated what Panini said
Panini said….‘Good be to all concerned’
Tolkappiar said ‘Ella uyirkkum inbam (Tol. Sutra.1169) , means “happiness to all living beings”. Though they wrote grammar, they deliberately inserted a sentence like this. Great commentators like Katyayana and Patanjali noted Panini’s usage and appreciated it.
Another amazing thing about Ashtadhyayi is Panini begins with the first letter “a” and finish with the same “a”. That is he garlands Sanskrit Language with Varna mala, Garland of letters. English word ‘vernacular’ came from Sanskrit ‘Varna’, that is letters in the alphabet.

There is a tradition in Hindu India that all works should begin with a positive note and with a positive word. Unlike Greek dramas we have only comedies and no tragedies. Even when there is a tragedy where the hero or the heroine of the story dies in tragic circumstances something will be added about the previous birth of the person to justify it and add auspicious notes. When they put it in writing they made it a point to add invocation to god. They even prescribed a list of words with which a literary work should begin.
(even today when a family considers a wedding proposal or a property buying idea, if they hear a negative word or news from somewhere they wouldn’t pursue it any further.)
Panini was a ‘mangalika’ Acharya according to Patanjali. Panini chose to begin his treatise/work with Vriddhi, a word that ensures the growth of the work and the longevity of the readers- Bhasya 1-40.
Mangala means Auspicious Invocation or Benediction with which a treatise to be commenced. The invocation of the Divine was made to ensure the success of the undertaking.
Tamil grammar Tolkappiam used the Sanskrit word Mangala (sutra 1190)
Panini, as one of the greatest authors, has also commenced his work, the Ashtadhyayi, with a similar invocation.
Vriddhir Aadaich is the first sutra 1-1-1. The words should be Aadaich Vriddhir.
Even the Siva or Maheswara sutra is a benediction which begins with first letter in all the languages ‘A’.
Tamils used one of the 3 vowels to begin a great work
Tirukkural begins with A-kara
Other works begin with U- lakam
Tolkappiam begins with E- zluthu
Panini’s Maheswara or Siva sutras begins with ‘A’.
Patanjali points out that even in the middle there was Mangala reference. He points out that the sutra
Siva sam arishtasya kare 4-4-143, represents Panini’s use of Mangala in the middle of his treatise. Only a few aphorisms later, sutra, ‘Tasmai hitam’ 5-1-5
,a benedictory expression is used.
‘Good be to all concerned’ seems to be deliberately used by Panini to name two of his most important chapters- fourth and fifth, viz.
Tadddhita, dealing with hundreds of grammatical formations, and Vrittis.
Siva also meant auspicious.
Panini also uses the benedictory term ‘Udaya’ in the last but one sutra of the Ashtadhyayi. The use of ‘Udaya’ in the place of shorter ‘para’ points to his faith in the practice of Mangala (Kasika 8-4-67).
The word ‘Udaya’ of this sutra is taken from Rik Pratisakya, which uses it as a synonym of ‘Para’.

Panini concludes his book with the sutra ‘a a’ .
It is not an interpolation or deliberate addition, because Katyayana devotes four Vaarttikas/ notes to it. Patanjali also comments on it as authentic.
Both of them conclude their works with the observation
‘Bhagavtah Panine sidhdham’.
Patanjali on his comment on Siddha, the first word of the opening Varttika of Katyayana, makes that teacher also subscribes to the theory of Mangala
As a mangalika acharya Bhashya 1-7
Siddham means “success”, “accomplished”.
In all the Vedic works we see ‘Aum’ as the first word which is made up of ‘A’ ‘U’ ‘M’a
The Rigveda begins with ‘A’gnimeele with ‘a’.
Tamil Tirukkural begins with ‘A’, the first letter, and ends with ‘N’, the last letter of Tamil alphabet .
Tolkappiam also followed Mangala of Panini. He repeated exactly what Panini said in the middle.Let all living beings enjoy happiness). H wanted to say happiness is common for all living beings. But the implied meaning is Let there be happiness everywhere.
