Nirmala ji visited famous Hindu temples of Lord Shiva (sung by Saints Sambandar and Appar 1400 years ago) in Thirukona malai,  Nallur Kandaswamy Temple in Jaffna. She visited tooth relic of Buddha at Kandy and paide respects to Buddhist saints. She attended other secular events. All news papers in Sri Lanka gave huge publicity for her.
