Bharatidasan was the disciple of the greatest of modern poets Subrahmanya Bharatiyar. Bharatidasan has praised him sky high. But yet he could not shine like Bharatiyar for many reasons. He was Anti Hindu, Anti Brahmin and Anti God. He could come nearer to Bharatiyar in only one aspect, that is his great love for Tamil language. Bharatidasan’s poems on Tamil language are used in Tamil films and text books.
We could see sense of humour in his poems. His poems on Nature are also readable.
In one of his poems, Bharatidasan mocks at gossipy Tamil women. He justified other poets comparison of beautiful women with peacocks; but differed with them in one point! Women are gossipy and nosy stuff; They are more interested in next door neighbours rooms.

In the poem on Beautiful Peacock, first he praised the beauty of the national bird of India and then adds humorously,
Now I have come out of my dreaming world.
(Peacock) I will tell you one thing
They say you and women are equal (lly beautiful)
True; True indeed! Though it is True
Gossipy gossipy women, these women,
Are their necks are equal to your neck? You tell me.
What is happening in the next door house room
Shound not be seen by these nosy women
Goddess of Nature has given these women
A short neck! But she favoured you ,
spotlessly beautiful peacock!
Gave you long neck to stand erect
Please come near! What I said to you , put it inside your mind!
The gang of women will rebuke me (that is why)

Let me tell the world one more thing,
You, from time immemorial led the women in wrong path,
That is the reason they have narrow outlook, still not broadened!

So the poet did not stop with criticising women, but also remonstrates the humanity for not educating women and lead them in the correct direction.
Earlier part of the poem shows his love for nature and the skill for describing Nature with choicest words.
