Aghada

Achyranthes aspera

If balsam plant is not available for worship this is used

For Gauri puja. The twigs of these plants are used as tooth brushes on the Rishi Panchami day . the leaves are used in Ganesh worship. Some scriptures associate it with Buddha.

Aam , Aamra

Mango tree, Magnifera indica , is a sacred tree. Its inflorescence is offered to Moon on the second day of month Maagh . it is also sacred to Manmatha , the hindu cupid. Festoons of mango leaves are  round the halls  and bowers in which wedding and other auspicious ceremonies are held. Mangoes are distributed among Brahmins on Vata Savitri day. Hindus believe the tree represents Prajaapati.  Its twigs are used as tooth brushes. Its leaves are used as spoons for pouring libations. On Maha Shivratri day, Shiva is worshipped with mango blossom.

Amlaki ,Aamalaka

Phyllanthus emblica

The tree is worshipped and a feast is taken under the tree during Aavali  Bhojan. In the olden days chips of the wood are thrown into well to clean it. Its wood is used in well curbs. Medical properties are already posted

Bauhinia tomentosa

It is worshipped and looted on Dasara day, and its leaves over which mantras repeated, are distributed as gold. In the absence of Shami tree this tree must be  worshipped on day. Dasara day.

Saraca indica or

Joneshia asoka

This tree is held scared, because  Sita devi spent her day in the Ashoka tree grove. Its buds are eaten by women in Bengal on the  Ashok  shasthi day. It is supposed to bloom vigorously  if kicked by a young lady.

Bael or Bel  

Aegle marmelos

Its trifoliate leaf is sacred  to Shiva. No worship of shiva is  omplete without it.   These Vilva are  leaves are sacred and the three leaves represent hindu trinity – brahama ,Vishnu and shiva.

It represents Gauri in the month of Bhadrapath

Khas  or Kush

Andropogon murica . its  fragrans root  known as kas are made in use.

Mukia scrabrella

It represents giant Narakaasura in Diwali and crushed as such. Its pulp is then applied to body, possibly due to its medicial properties.

Dub

Cynodont dactylon

Its leaves are sacred to Ganesh , who is worshipped with them. The plant represents Raahu. It is worshipped on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month. Its marriage with Ficus indica is recommended. It is called tree marriage.
