We have already seen towns beginning with letters A B and C. today let us explore 8 towns beginning with letter  ‘D’ ; here are the clues for you.

1.   The headquarters of many National Institutes and Organizations like ONGC, Survey of India, Forest Research Institute, Indian Institute of Petroleum etc are located in the city.

2.   This city is known as the Oil City of Assam where the first oil well in Asia was drilled. The first refinery was started here as early as 1901. Iti has the oldest oil well in operation.

3.   This is the place where the holy rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda meet, merge into one and take the name Ganga, making it a unique pilgrimage centre. Lord Rama and his father King Dasharath performed penance here.

4.   This city in Gujarat is one of the most ancient and the loveliest of cities in India. Located on the banks of the river Gomati, this city has several tales of Lord Krishna .

5.    It  is one of the important districts of North Bihar , an ancient city of Mithila, City name  was derived from Dwar-Banga or Dar-e-Bang meaning “The Gateway to Bengal”.

6.   Apart from tea, the other thing that the city is famous for is its historic toy train.

7.   This city in West Bengal has been nicknamed the ‘Ruhr of India‘. Like Ruhr in Germany, it has got lot of coal. It is on the banks of river Damodar.

8.   This city in Karnataka is famous for its milk based sweet-Pedha; ILkal saris; Hindustani classical music and Kannada literature.
