Foreword
This is the first part of my collection of anecdotes from an old book of anecdotes. I have not written anything. I have only compiled them. It will be very useful for party goers. The beauty of the book is that the anecdotes are given topic wise. Students may use this book for essay writing. I will give more anecdotes in the second part.
Anecdotes regarding Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, Alexander Dumas, Bernard Shaw, Sheridan, Voltaire, Wordsworth, Webster, Max Beerbohm, Coleridge, Boswell, Dr Johnson, Charles Dickens, Churchill and other prominent people from various walks of life are covered in this book. The old book had thousands of anecdotes; but I have selected what is relevant for our times. Some anecdotes lose their punch by the passage of time. I have omitted them.
All these anecdotes have already been posted in my blogs in the past ten years. I have given the dates of their first posting in every topic. Enjoy reading them and use them where you wanted to show your knowledge in various subjects. Most of these are humorous and harmless.
