Foreword
This is the third part of my collection of anecdotes from an old book of anecdotes. I have not written anything. I have only compiled them. It will be very useful for party goers. The beauty of the book is that the anecdotes are arranged topic wise. Students may use this book for essay writing.
Anecdotes regarding doctors, salesmen, sportsmen, politicians, authors, producers and other people from various walks of life are covered in this part. There are nearly sixty topics. If you look at the contents page you may see the amazing variety of topics covered in the book.
The old book had thousands of anecdotes; but I have selected what is relevant for our times. Some anecdotes lose their punch by the passage of time. I have omitted them.
All these anecdotes have already been posted in my blogs in the past ten years. I have given the dates of their first posting in every topic. Enjoy reading them and use them where you wanted to show your knowledge in various subjects. Most of these are humorous and harmless.

முன்னுரை
மஹத்மா காந்தி உலகம் முழுதும் அறியப்பட்ட ஹிந்து என்பது மட்டுமல்ல; போற்றப்பட்ட ஒரு ஹிந்துவும் ஆவார். உலகில் உள்ள கம்யூனிஸ்ட் நாடுகள், முஸ்லீம் நாடுகள் கூட அவரது நூற்றாண்டு தினம் 1969ல் கொண்டாடப்பட்ட போது அஞ்சல் தலைகளை வெளியிட்ட திலிருந்தும், காந்திஜியின் சிலைகளை நிறுவியதிலிருந்தும் இது தெரிகிறது. இந்து மதம் பற்றிய அவரது கருத்துக்கள் ஆணித்தரமானவை . எவ்வளவோ கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் அவரை மதம் மாற்றம் செய்ய முயன்றபோதும் அவர் அசைந்து கொடுக்கவில்லை . ஏனையோரும் இந்து மதத்திற்கு வரவேண்டியதில்லை; அவரவர் மதத்தை ஒழுங்காகப் பின்பற்றினால் போதும் என்றே அவர் அறிவுறுத்தி வந்தார்.
காந்திஜி எல்லா அறிவுரைகளையும் இந்துக்களுக்கு மட்டுமே சொல்லிவந்தார் . ஏனையோர் அவர் சொன்னாலும் கேட்பதாக இல்லை. இது இந்துக்களை ஆத்திரப்பட வைத்தது. அரசியலிலும் அவரது கொள்கைகள் எடுபடவில்லை. தன நிலையை அடிக்கடி மாற்றிக்கொண்டே இருந்தார் ; ஆயினும் இந்த நூல் அவரது இந்துமதம் பற்றிய தொகுப்பு மட்டுமே. அஹிம்சை , ராம நாம மஹிமை, பிரம்மச்சர்ய விரதம், உண்ணாவிரதம், சைவ உணவு பற்றிய அவருடைய கொள்கைகள் இந்த நூலில் இடம் பெறுகின்றன.
ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் நோய்வாய்ப்பட்ட கன்றுக்குட்டியைக் கொல்ல உத்தரவிட்டது,வயல்களை மேயும் குரங்குகளையும் , தெரு நாய்களையும், தீராத நோயுடைய நோயாளிகளையும் கொல்வது சரியே என்று அவர் சொன்னது நீண்ட கால சர்ச்சைகளை ஏற்படுத்தியது. பெரும்பாலோர் அவரைப் பின்பற்றினாலும் அவர், சர்ச்சைக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டவராக இருக்கவில்லை. அரசியலிலும் நேதாஜிக்கு எதிராக அவர் போர்க்கொடி தூக்கியது ஜனநாயக விரோதமான செயல் என்று ஏசப்பட்டது .
அவர் இந்துமதத்தைப்போற்றி அதைக் கடைப்பிடித்தார் என்பதிலோ சொந்த வாழ்வில் ஒழுக்க நெறிகளைக் கடைப்பிடித்தார் என்பதிலோ எந்த ஐயப்பாடும் இல்லை. அவரது மகன் மதம் மாறி ஒழுக்கம் கெட்டுப்போனது அவரையும் அவர் மனைவி கஸ்தூரிபா காந்தியையும் மிகவும் பாதிக்கச் செய்தது .
காந்திஜியின் பெயரில் நவஜீவன் பதிப்பகம் ஆங்கிலத்தில் வெளியிட்ட நூலிலிருந்து இந்தக்கட்டுரைகள் எடுக்கப்பட்டு என்னால் தமிழாக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டு என்னுடைய ‘பிளாக்’குகளில் அண்மையில் வெளியிடப்பட்டன . அவைகளைத் தொகுத்து இங்கே வழங்குகிறேன்.
இந்த நூலைப் படிக்கும்போது அவரது பெயரை வைத்துக்கொண்டு திரிவோரும், அவரது படத்தை அலுவலங்களில் மாட்டி வைத்திருப்போரும் அவரை நையாண்டி செய்கிறார்கள் என்றே எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது .
இறுதியில் காந்தியின் பொன் மொழிகளை ஆங்கிலத்திலும் கொடுத்துள்ளேன்; படித்துப் பயன் பெறுவீர்களாகுக.
