அவர் கணக்கு/ கணித ஆசிரியர் = Avar Kanakku Aasiriyar= He (is a ) Maths Teacher
அவர் போர்டில் எழுதுகிறார்.= avar Bordil Ezuthukiraar = Avar, in the board, writes
குழந்தைகள் படிக்கிறார்கள் = Kuzanthaikal Padikkiraarkal = Chikdren Studying (learning)

கேள்= KEL has got two meanings in Tamil.ASK and LISTEN TO
1. நான் தினமும் ரேடியோவில் செய்தி கேட்பேன்.
Naan dinamum radiovil seythi ketpen
I, every day/ daily, radio in (on the radio), News, listen.
Everyday I listen to news on the radio.
தினமும் Sanskrit word, so Dinamum;
ரேடியோவில்- Radio + in; but in English we say on radio;
கேட்பேன்.= KETPEN = will listen to in Tamil future form; but in Tamil it is equivalent to present tense, because anything you do habitually is put is future in Tamil; but in English you only present tense I listen to
2. அவன் உன்னைக் கேட்டால் நீ சொல்
Avan Unnaik Kettaal, Nee Sol
He , you, if ask, you, tell;
If he asks you you tell;
கேட்டால் KETTAAL Conditional; Kett+ AAL = Kettaal
உன்னை= You in Accusative form UNN+ AI = UNNAI;
3. அவன் தமிழ் புஸ்தகம் வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டிருந்தான்
Avan, thamiz pusthakam, Vendum Endru Kettu Irunthaan
He, Tamil Pustakam, want , that , had asked/told
He had asked/told me that he wanted a Tamil book.
4. கடன் கேட்பது கெட்ட பழக்கம்
Kadan, ketpathu, ketta , pazakkam
Loan asking bad habit .
Borrowing is a bad habit.
கடன் = kadan.
கேட்பது Ketpathu = asking for = verbal noun.
5. நீ நல்ல கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டாய்.
Nee, nalla, kelvikalaik, kettay.
You, good, questions, asked .
You asked good questions .
6. நான் சொன்னால் அவன் கேட்க மாட்டான்
Naan , sonnaal, avan, ketkamaattaan
I, if say, he, wouldn’t listen .
He wouldn’t listen (to me), if I say (it).
If I say it , he wont listen (to me).
7. அவன் கட்டாயம் உன்னைக் கேட்பான்.
Avan , Kattaayan, unnaik, ketpaan.
He, certainly / definitely / surely/ you will ask.
He would certainly question / challenge you (is also possible)
8. யார் கடன் கேட்டாலும் கொடுக்காதே.
Yaar , kadan, kettaalum, kodukkaathe.
Who(ever) ask loan, don’t give.
Whoever it may be, never give loan (to anyone)
கேட்டாலும் = even ask.
Kettaal = conditional +um= and or even or too
Whenever you use WHATEVER,WHOEVER, WHEREVER,HOWEVER you use this form; that is conditional form of that verb+UM
Vanthaalum = even if come
Sonnaalum = even if say
Saappittaalum = even if eat
9. ஒரு நிமிடம் இருங்கள். இதைக் கேட்டுவிட்டுப் போங்கள்.
Oru, nimidam, irungal; ithaik kettuvittup Pongal.
One , minute, wait; this, after listening go .
Wait a minute (please); listen to it and then go.
Kettuvittu = converbial form; meaning is after doing ……..
10. அவர்கள் மூன்று புஸ்தகம்தான் கேட்டார்கள்.
Avarkal, moondru, pustakam only, asked.
They asked for only three books.
புஸ்தகம்தான்= emphatic or only = thaan
11. அது கேட்கிற பொம்மையைக் கொடு
Athu, ketkira, bommaiyaik , kodu
That, asking, toy, give.
Athu = that; though it is used only for lower things, Indian Tamils call children THIS, THAT.
But it is quite opposite in Sri Lanka. They give respect AVAR (he with respect or she with respect)
கேட்கிற= ketkira = present participle,
கேட்ட = ketta = past participle,
கேட்கும் = ketkum = future participle,
12. நீ அப்பா பேச்சைக் கேட்டகாவிட்டால் அவருக்கு கோபம் வரும்.
Nee, appaa, pechchaik, ketkaavittaal, avarukku, kopam, varum .
You, father , saying, if not listen, to him, anger, would come.
If you don’t listen to what father says, he would be angry.
london swaminathan pesukiraar; ellorum ketkiraarkal = london swaminathan speaks; all listen (to him)
