Part- 3
All must read Adi Shankaras’ commentary on Vishnu Sahasranama (VS). He gives amazing scientific interpretation of VS. We looked at Big Bang theory and here is more from Adi Shankara.
Word in VS- Ksobanah
One who at the time of creation entered into Purana and Prakrti (Nature) and caused AGITATION (Big Bang explosion 1400 million years ago). Says Vishnu Purana (1-2-29)
Prakrtim Pura a m caiva pravisyatatmecchayaa Harih
Pravisya ksobhayaamaasa sarga-kaale vyayaavyayau
(The Eternal Lord Hari, at the time of creation entered at His own will the changeful Prakrti and the changeless Purusa and created AGITATION in them)
Till this day no scientist could say what caused the Big Bang. But Hindus knew about Big Bang and say who caused the ‘agitation’.
Shankara has explained it in two other word names in VS (Aatma yoni, Swayam jaatah).

Viswa, Vishnu= space; Vishnu/Krishna=Black.
Another Amazing Interpretation
Sanaat (word No.896 in VS)
The word SANAAT indicates a great length of Time. Time is also the manifestation of the Supreme Being;
Vishnu Purana says (1-2-15)
Parasya brahmano ruupam purusha prathamam dvija
Vyaktaavyakte thathaivaanye ruupe kaalas tathaapuram
O Holy men! The first manifestation of the Supreme Being is Purusa, the Indiscreet, the Discreet and the Great Entity (Mahaatattva) and others are its manifestations. Time is also a manifestation of His.
Einstein said it thousands of years later!
According to Einstein , you need to describe where you are not only in three-dimensional space —length, width and height—but also in time. Time is the fourth dimension. So to know where you are, you have to know what time it is.

kaalah
word number 418
one who measures and sets a limit to everything. The Gita says 10-30
Kaalahkalayataam aham
Among measures I am TIME.

Wonderful interpretation of Kesavah
The word Kesavah occurs twice in VS; 23rd and 648th.
In 23 Shankara says, one whose kesa/hair or locks are beautiful. Or one who is Himself is three-
Kah – Brahma ; ah- Vishnu; isa – Siva= Kesavah
Or one who destroyed the Asura Kesi in the Krishna incarnation.
But in 648, Shankara interprets the same word as follows,
By Kesa is meant the rays of light spreading within the orbit of the sun. one who is endowed with this is Kesava.
Mahabharata Santi Parva 341-48 says,
Amsavo ye prakaasante mama te kesa- samjnitah
Sarvajnah Kesavam tasmaan maam aahur dvijasattamaah
— whatever rays of Mine are shining, they are called Kesas. So all the holy men call me Kesava.
Or Brahma, Vishnu, and Siva are divine powers and therefore called Kesas. One who is endowed with these Saktis is Keshava.
The Sruti (Veda) says,
Trayah Kesinah- the three are with Kesa.
Vishnu purana says 5-1-61
Mat kesau vasudhaatale meaning my two Kesas or Saktis are in the world. In the light of this, Kesa is a synonym of Sakti/power.
Harivamsa says,
Ko brahmeti samaakhyaataiisoham sarvadehinaam
Aavaam tavaamsa sambhuutau tasmaat kesava naamavaan
Ka means Brahma and Isa means lord of all. We two are born of your parts, so Thou art known as Kesava.
Shankara’s wide and in depth of knowledge of Hindu scriptures throw more light on VS.
(I wonder how Shakara quoted from one lakh Mahabharat couplets, 8 lakh Purana couplets and several thousand Vedic Hymns without google or computer or internet websites!!!)
