IN THE 17TH PART THAT WAS PUBLISHED ON 20TH MAY WE SAW “More (Truth , Om ) Secrets from Vishnu Sahasranama”.
Let us look at Medical terms and Nature descriptions in the Vishnu Sahasranama (VS).
Bhesajam – Word No.578 in the VS
The simple meaning is Medicine.
Aadi Sankara in his commentary says,
The medicine for the disease of Samsaara.
There are three interesting points.
1.Bhesajam is also in the Rudram, part of Yajur Veda in praise of Lord Siva.
2.Go is described as Medicine for the disease of Birth and Death. Only Hindus described this as a disease.
3.The thought of a disease and a cure for it has crept even in Vedic scripture means Hindus are very health-conscious people. That is why they named their medical science Ayur VEDA. Note the word VEDA. No where in the world we see the words medicine and doctor in the religious scriptures.
But the debatable point is whether they meant only Bhava Roga/ disease of birth and death or real disease as well. My research shows that they meant both.
In the Appar Thevaram hymns in Tamil he used the words Oh Siva You are the one who cures incurable diseases. The word Medicine is also in the hymn. Above all the deity’s name it self is Vaidhyanathan, in English Mr Chief Doctor. It was sung in front of Siva in Vaitheeswaran Koil in Tamil Nadu exactly 1400 years ago. It is true that prayer to Siva cures us Bhava Roga. But t is also true that He cures our physical diseases. Till this day the devotees who visit this temple take Marunthu Urundai/ medicinal tablet from the temple. Those who have diseases visit their temple for curing their diseases. In the same way we see people visiting many temples in Tamil Nadu and Kerala to cure their mental sickness.

Ausadham -Word No.578 in the VS
One who is the medicine for the great disease of Samsaara.
This term is related to Ausadhi/herbs. This shows Hindus used herbs for curing diseases. So they mean real physical sickness. But one can take it as a medicine for both Bhava Roga (birth and death cycle) and real Roga (like blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes etc)
This is proved from the real life stories of Tamil saints Sundarar, Kannapan and many others whose eye diseases were cured by Lord Siva. To cut it short we have ample evidence in the stories of Hindu saints where their physical illnesses were cured by prayer to God. In Kerala we have the famous hymn Naraayaneeyam which cured arthritis of Narayana Bhattathiri and his Guru. The same hymns was used by famous religious speaker Anatharama Dikshitar to cue his sickness. There are hundreds of such stories.

Vaidyah – Word No.164 in the VS
One who knows all Vidyaas or branches of knowledge.
The term also means Doctor, medicine man. We have an equivalent erm Bhisak in Yajur Veda(Rudram-Chamakam).

பேர் ஆயிரம் பரவி வானோர் ஏத்தும் பெம்மானை, பிரிவு
இலா அடியார்க்கு என்றும்
வாராத செல்வம் வருவிப்பானை, மந்திரமும் தந்திரமும்
மருந்தும் ஆகித்
தீரா நோய் தீர்த்து அருள வல்லான் தன்னை, திரிபுரங்கள்
தீ எழத் திண் சிலை கைக் கொண்ட
போரானை, புள்ளிருக்கு வேளூரானை, போற்றாதே ஆற்ற
நாள் போக்கினேனே!.

NATURE IN THE VISHNU SAHASRANAMA
It is amazing to see how Hindus used Nature to worship God. When the looked at the highest Himalayan Peaks, they were inspired to sing about the highest thinks in life in the form of Vedic hymns and Upanishads. In the VS, we come across birds like Garuda, Suparna, Hamsa, animals like lion, boar, plants like Soma , banyan, peepul, fig etc.
Forests and Seas are also worshipped by the Hindus. Their names are given to God Vishnu.
All the major Upanishads came from the Himalayan region. All the mythologies came from Naimisaranyam Forest in the mountain.
Mountain
Mahidharah – Word No.369 in the VS
One who props up the earth in the form of mountain. Vishnu purana says,
Vanaani vishnur girayo disas ca – Forests, mountains , quarters all these are Vishnu Himself

Loka saarangah Word No.783in the VS
(saaranga has a lot of meanings like bow, any quareped, bee etc
In the VS, it is used for a honeybee.
One who like the saaranga grasps the essence of the world. It is no surprise to see a bee here, because Hindu saints use Bhramari ( a female bee) in their hymns. They want to be Bhramari circling the flowers at the feet of God.
But water and water sources like seas are used more in the VS.
