The names of sea and lakes are attributed to Lord Vishnu in the Vishnu Sahasranama (VS). We don’t see such things in other religions. Let us look at some examples

Jagatah Setuh — Word No. 288 in the  Vishnu Sahasranama (VS)

One who is the aid to go across the ocean of Samsaara  or one who like a  Setu or bund preserves the social order. Says Brhadaaranya Upanishad 4-4-22-

Esa setur vidharana  esaam lokaanaam asambhedaaya-

He is verily the Setu, the bund, that saves the worlds from the chaos of intermingling.

My comments

The word Setu gives us two or three important points.it means a bridge like Rama Setu or a dam like Grand Anicut in Tamil Nadu . Hindus were great dam builders’ for example one Girnar inscription gives us the history of 400 year old lake. After the heavy rains there was a big breach and then the engineers repaired it. Amazing thing about the inscription is that it gives 400 year history of the lake and its bunds.

Second thing is about the importance of water storage for drinking and irrigation. That is where we hear about the Grand Anicut in Tamil Nadu bult by Karikaal Chozaa 2000 years ago.

The word Samsaaraa Sagara in the interpretation shows Hindus were great sea farers. Because family life with birth and death is compared to Saagaara/sea and crossing is referred to it. This is also proved by images of boat in on Sathavahana coins , Harappan symbols, and Vedic reference to big ships and seas.

Apaamnidhih- Word No. 323 in the VS-

The word means collective source of water or the ocean. in the Bhagavad Gita we read about ocean in many places. Sloka 10-24 says,

Sarasaam asmi saagarah- among all pools of water I am ocean/Samudra. The Lord is called by that name because the ocean is one of His manifestations.

There is another sloka which describe the mighty ocean:

आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं
समुद्रमापप्रविशन्ति यद्वत् |
तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे
 शान्तिमाप्नोति  कामकामी || 70||

āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ
samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat
tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve
sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī

BG 2.70: Just as the ocean remains undisturbed by the incessant flow of waters from rivers merging into it, likewise the sage who is unmoved despite the flow of desirable objects all around him attains peace, and not the person who strives to satisfy desires.

This is a beautiful description of ocean āpūryamāṇam—filled from all sides; achala-pratiṣhṭham—undisturbed; samudram—ocean;

My comments

All words regarding water sources, water rituals, water hymns, holy baths and river worship found in the Vedic Literature explodes Max Muller gang’s Aryan Invasion Theory. Had they been migrants from colder regions of Central Asia or Europe, they would not talk about holy bath and water rituals. Till this day Brahmins are doing sun worship with water thrice a day ( I do it in London)

For instance, Eskimos living in North Pole has over 100 words for ice, where as Hindus living in Hindustan has over 100 words for water. This shows Hindus are sons of the soil.

Ratnagarbhah – Word No. 473 in the VS-

This is one of the names of Lord Vishnu.

The ocean is called Ratnagarbhah because gems are found in its depths. As Lord has taken the form of the ocean, He is called by this name.

Pearls and corals are described throughout ancient Sanskrit and Tamil literature.

Ambonidhih- Word No.517 in the VS-

One in whom the Ambas or all beings from Devas down Asuras dwell. The Sruti says,

Taani vaa etaani catvaary ambhamsi devaahaa manusyaahaapitaro suraahaa- Devas, Men, Pitrs, Asuraas – these are the four Ambhas

xxxx

Naaraayanah- Word No.245 in the VS-

Water is called Naaraa. Lord resides (Ayana) in water and so he is called Naaraayana.

There are so many words in the VS like Srutisaagara where water is referred to.

In short Water is God for Hindus and so they originated in Tropical areas and not temperate or icy Siberia. All Aryan migration theories can be dust binned with the research on water terms. Sine the white skinned foreigners were neither Hindu followers nor they seen anything a Hindu does throughout his life. From birth to death Hindus use water in all their ceremonies and rituals.
