Thiruppugaz Recitation was held today 22 June 2024 at London Sri Murugan Temple in Eastham London. This is the 11th year festival organised by Mrs Jayanthi Sundar’s students. About 100 devotees attended the event.
Thiuppugaz was sung by Sri Arunagirinathar 500 years ago. Mrs Jayanthi Sundar of London selected about 25 songs from 1300 poems of Sri Arunagirinathar. Young children also sang some Tiruppugaz on their own,
Elder students sang along with her in beautiful voice. They follow the style of their Guru Sri Ragavan.
After the recitation for two hours, Mr Sundar did the puja for the Padas (wooden shoes) of three Shankaracharyas of Kanchi Kamakoti peetam.

Sri Vijaya Indra Sarasvati (Present Head of Kanchi Mutt).
All the participants joined him in the Puja. Sundar organises regular events for the Kanchi Mutt in London.
Aa the end of the event Maha Prasad was served to all.
