Sankara’s single message is Braham Sathyam Jagan Mithya- God is real; world is an unreal.
To teach this simple but grand massage he composed hundreds of hymns. To reach that highest level he supported Bhajans, various Mani Mantra Aushada- Gem power, Mantra power and Herbal power and rituals. He sang about medicine, Sri Chakras, which he himself established in various temples and spoke about diet and medicine to cure diseases. He sang about the 4 Gs (Gayatri, Govinda, Ganga river and Gnan), but the ultimate message is Brahma Satyam Jagan Mithya- jivo-brahmaiva naparah (Brahman alone is real, the world is unreal. Jiva is no other than Brahman)
Here are slokas or hymns where this great Truth is explained by various sains who appeared in the past 500 years. It is in Viveka Chudamani (VC) as well.
We see it in Annamacharya’s composition, Sadasiva Brahmendra’s composition, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s personal anecdote and very recently in Tamil Poets Bharati’s song. In the last article we saw what Tirumular’s Tamil poems said about it.
Before meditating upon this Brahma Satyam Jagan mithya, one must listen to Brahmam Okate and Sarvaam Brahma mayam in YOU TUBE or on tapes and CDs.

सर्वं ब्रह्ममयम्
सर्वं ब्रह्ममयं रे रे ॥
किं वचनीयं किमवचनीयम् ।
किं रचनीयं किमरचनीयम् ॥ १
किं पठनीयं किमपठनीयम् ।

1. What may be spoken and what may not be spoken, what can
be created and what may not be created (in relation to poetry
or otherwise).
किमवचनीयं = किं अवचनीयं
2. What may be studied and what not to be studied, what may
be recited and what may not be recited.
3. What may be taught and what may not be taught; what may
be enjoyed and what may not be enjoyed – everything is HIS
creation and HIS work.
4. So, always immerse yourself in his dhyaanam and that will
take you towards ‘salvation’
The short message of this song is do not enter into arguments
and discussions as to what is right and what is wrong; all
that would be meaningless and unnecessary. What is meaningful
is ‘Pray him’ and ‘Merge in him’.

And Sankara said,
स देवदत्तोऽयमितीह चैकता
विरुद्धधर्मांशमपास्य कथ्यते ।
यथा तथा तत्त्वमसीतिवाक्ये
विरुद्धधर्मानुभयत्र हित्वा ॥ २४८ ॥
संलक्ष्य चिन्मात्रतया सदात्मनोः
अखण्डभावः परिचीयते बुधैः ।
एवं महावाक्यशतेन कथ्यते
ब्रह्मात्मनोरैक्यमखण्डभावः ॥ २४९ ॥
sa devadatto’yamitīha caikatā
viruddhadharmāṃśamapāsya kathyate |
yathā tathā tattvamasītivākye
viruddhadharmānubhayatra hitvā || 248 ||
saṃlakṣya cinmātratayā sadātmanoḥ
akhaṇḍabhāvaḥ paricīyate budhaiḥ |
evaṃ mahāvākyaśatena kathyate
brahmātmanoraikyamakhaṇḍabhāvaḥ || 249 ||
248-249. Just as in the sentence, “This is that Devadatta”, the identity is spoken of, eliminating the contradictory portions, so in the sentence “Thou art That”, the wise man must give up the contradictory elements on both sides and recognise the identity of Ishwara and Jīva, noticing carefully the essence of both, which is Chit, Knowledge Absolute. Thus hundreds of scriptural texts inculcate the oneness and identity of Brahman and Jīva. (V.C.)

Meaning:
pallavi: “Tandanana” is a word giving the punch of rhythm in the song. Ahi, Pure, Bhala are the words expressing the excitement or ecstasy or appreciation. The absolute spirit is one & only one.
caraNam 1: There are no differences of low & high. “Sri Hari” is the indwelling Spirit to one and all. All the beings in creation are one because the indwelling spirit in every creature is one and the same.
caraNam 2: Sleep is same to all, be it a king or a servant. Be it a “Brahmin” (man of the highest caste) or “Chandala” (man of the lowest caste), the earth they live on is the one and the same.
caraNam 3: The sensual pleasure is one and the same either for angels or for the insects and animals. The day and night are equal to the rich as well as to the poor.
caraNam 4: One could afford to eat tasty food and the other the condemned food. But the tongues that taste the food are alike. An object of fragrance or an object of foul smell, the air that carries the smell is one and the same.
caraNam 5: Be it an elephant or a dog, the sun shines alike on both of them. For the good and the bad, Lord Venkateshwara alone is “The Savior”.

RAMAKRISHNA PARAMAHAMSA
18 February 1836, Kamarpukur, India –16 August 1886 (age 50 years), Cossipore, India

Ramakrishna experienced his first moment of spiritual trance. One morning while walking along the narrow ridges of a paddy field, eating some puffed rice from a small basket, he came across the sight of a flock of milky white cranes flying against the backdrop of a heavy rain laden black clouds, which soon engulfed the entire sky. The ensuing sight was so beautiful that he was absorbed into it and lost all his outer consciousness, before falling down with the rice scattered all over. People nearby who saw this came to his rescue and carried him home.[21]
At age nine, in accordance with Brahminical tradition, the sacred thread was vested on Ramakrishna, thus making him eligible for conducting ritual worship. He would later help his family in performing worship of their deities.[22] As a result of his devotion in worship, he started to experience Bhava-Samadhi or Savikalpa-Samadhi.[23] He reportedly had experiences of similar nature a few other times in his childhood—while worshipping the Goddess Vishalakshi, and portraying the God Shiva in a drama during the Shivaratri festival.
He was a born saint, but yet he did Puja at Goddess Kaali Temple . The minute he sees Goddess idol he forgets himself. His close disciples asked him why shouldn’t you pray to Your Goddess to cure yourself (from Cancer). He laughed and said the moment I sit there I forget all worldly things.

Subrahmanya Bharati (11 December 1882 to 11 September 1921) was the greatest Tamil poet of Modern Tamil Literature. Bharati was a Great Siddha who died only in 1921 was like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He saw God in Nature and Human beings.
He mentioned Sankara in his poems and also the Upanishad Mahavaakyam Tatvamasi (You are That)
Like Brhamam Okate of Annnamacharya, he also burst into poems which showed his highest state (Trance)

One with us mountain and sea;
Wherever we glance ourselves a dance
In a whirl of Ecstasy.
This is a philosophical poem. In many other poems we see the same Advaita message.
