There are some known places in Sydney (Australia) which attract local residents and tourists. We went to Lake Paramatta on 22nd and Darling Harbour on 23rd January, 2025. Train is the best transport to go into city (Darling Harbour).

Those who come from London or England can see all the station names here as well (Epping, Lewisham, Croydon in Sydney). We have Liverpool, Newcastle in Australia. The English migrants named street, areas and towns from where they came.

Darling Harbour has a big park for children with many activities. There are lot of restaurants in the to cater to every taste. Children can play and bathe in the water fountains.

Paramatta lake is a place where children and adults can swim safely under the supervision of coast/ life guards.

More details about Paramatta Lake

Swimming, picnicking, bushwalking and pedal boating, Lake Parramatta is an amazing place of natural beauty to enjoy with friends and family.

With the lake open for swimming from October each year, the summer season is the time to shake winter off and reserve a spot by the water.

Fully patrolled by lifeguards, the designated swimming area is safe for children to splash and paddle and big enough for adults to get some laps in.

You may hire kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, stand up paddle boards and row boats on offer. All levels of ability are welcome to enjoy a few hours on the water.

Bushwalk around the tracks: There are four walking routes to around the lake.

History of Aborigines

The name Paramatta itself shows it belongs to sons of the soil.

A significant place for the traditional owners of the land the Darug people, evidence still remains of the regular usage of and occupation by the Aboriginal Burramattagal clan within Lake Parramatta Reserve and Hunts Creek.

Their shelter caves, hand-stencils, stone flaking, tree scars and midden deposits are still there .

The local Aboriginal community and City of Parramatta Council have in recent years established a Bushfoods Garden and Walk to show these remarkable items to visitors .

Wherever you go in Australia there will be a board showing to which of the 250 aborigine groups it belongs to. People will salute and show respect to them (in words)  for stealing and occupying their land. It is one way of pacifying them. Since they are in a small minority and so scattered in a very large continent, they are also powerless.
