I went to Minto Shiva Temple today 16-2-2025 with my family; the temple is in Minto in New South Wales in Australia. It is at a distance of one hour drive from Sydney.
The temple is a beautiful temple and it won’t take more than half hour to have darshan (holy viewing).
It is a Shiva temple with a huge Shiva Linga in the main shrine. On both sides we have Ashtabhuja Durga and Ram parivar shrines.
Apart from these , there are shrines for Ganesh, Subrahmanya, Bhuvaneswari, Navagraha, Krishna and Kala Bhairava
The main attractions are huge Shiva and Hanuman sculptures outside the main shrine. The temple construction is a mixture of North and South Indian styles. The main Shiva Linga has Archana and Aradhana (PUJA) like every Tamil temple. Other gods have beautiful dress like North Indian temples.
Another unique feature of the temple is installation of Twelve Jyotirlingas’ – exact replica of Indian Shrines – but in smaller scale.
The temple is run by Gujaratis with the support of other communities in the area. I saw a lot of Nepali Hindus vising the temple.
The huge Shiva and Anjaneya sculptures gave lot of opportunities for youngsters to take photos and selfies.
It is in a quite area and new extensions are also planned.
Sulur Siva Shanmuka Kurukkal and another Pandit ji helped us to have good Darshan and gave us Prasad.
Sri Siva Shanmuka Kurukkal ji explained that the main Shiva linga is worshipped with Abhisheka Aradhanas like South Indian Agama temples.

Nagarathar Kavadi Function
LONDON SWAMINATHAN WITH SRI SULUR SIVA SHANMUKA KURUKKAL
We had two birds in one stone today. The Nagarathar community celebrated the annual Kavadi function today and Sulur Shiva Shanmuka Kurukkal officiated it. Hundreds of Nagarathar community devotees attended it and scores of gentlemen took Kavadis and others Paal Kudam (milk pots). Lord Muruga (Skanda) was taken in procession. They went round the temple. That reminded me my participation as Chief Guest at London Nagarathar annual event held in London Sri Murugan temple two years ago. The event added more divine atmosphere.
Sri Lankan Tamils organise several events in the temple now and then. Shivaratri on 26th February 2025 will attract a huge crowd and special Homams and Shiva linga abishekam are already announced.
The full address of the temple is
