Ibis birds with long beaks ; I took the pictures in Sydney Royal Botanic gardens
I used to watch birds from my son’s house in Pennants Hill surrounded by forests. The forest extends to over 100 miles, but dotted with residences. Since I get up at 4-30 am, I used to listen to kookaburra’s laughing. They are called laughing birds because when they join in chorus, they make big laughing sound. But at five am they only make hiccup sound.
Another bird is the noisiest cockatoos. They are seen everywhere like Indian crows. They make irritating noise. But individually look beautiful; they are snow white in colour with a yellow crest. On a foggy day, they raided our lemon tree in the garden and gobbled ten to 15 fruits in half hour.
Emu is a typical Australian bird; but now they have even Emu farms in India. The birds are huge. I saw them only in mini zoos in parks.
Bush turkey visits our gardens. Colourful parrots, what we call in India Panchavarna Kili , are seen everywhere. Pigeons, crows with white neck are also found in all gardens.
During my stay in Sydney for three months (Dec.11, 2024 to Mar.11,2025), I took over 1000 pictures. I have shared all important pictures with you in my 60 articles in Tamil and English. Before I archive other pictures, I will post more here. It may be of interest to some of you.
In the rain forests rare lyre birds are seen.

Kookaburras wait for 20 to 30 minutes and catch insects , lizards etc. They visit our garden everyday.
