Two years ago I posted here a lot of pictures of paintings from the famous Ramaswami temple at Kumbakonam. The idols in the Garbhagriha are as beautiful as the idols in Vaduvur and Mathuranthakam. Once you see them you would never forget the images or Lord Rama and his retinue
I made a very quick visit this time after having Darshan at Kumbeswarar Temple in March 2025. Though it was a very short visit, I couldn’t resist clicking with my Samsung Camera. This time I did not use my I pad.
I took the pictures on the wall and some sculptures. Since the paintings on the wall are in three rows, one must spend hours to take all the figures separately.
The temple must preserve the 500 year old paintings and publish them in a book which will be sold as hot cakes.
They have protected paintings of Anjaneya and Rama in a locked room. The temple must publish them. The department of archaeology can do this with the permission of the temple authorities.
