ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் மீது, நோபல் பரிசுபெற்ற ரவீந்திர நாத் தாகூர் Rabindranath Tagore (7th May 1861 – 1941) ஒரு கவிதை இயற்றியது நிறைய பேருக்குத் தெரிந்திராது ; அந்தக் கவிதை ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் பிறந்த ஸ்டராட்போர்டு அபான் ஆவன் நகரில் பொறிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதும் பலருக்கும் தெரிய வாய்ப்பில்லை. (London to Stratford-upon-avon;150 kilometres ) ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் பிறந்த இடம் லண்டனிலிருந்து நூறு மைல்களுக்கு சற்று அதிகம். மூன்று மணி நேரத்திற்குள் போய்விடலாம். அங்கு அவர் பிறந்த வீடு மற்றும் மியூசியம் உள்ளது; நுழைவுக் கட்டணம் உண்டு.
இந்தியர்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி தரும் விஷயம் அங்கே தாகூர் சிலையும் இருக்கிறது; அவருக்கு சிலை வைப்பதற்கு காரணம் அவர் ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் மீது எழுதிய கவிதைதான். அந்தச் சிலையைத் தவிர லண்டனிலும் தாகூருக்கு ஒரு சிலை உள்ளது. மஹாத்மா காந்திக்கும் பல சிலைகள் உள்ளன. தமிழர்களைப் பொறுத்த மட்டில் திருவள்ளுவருக்கு லண்டன் பல்கலைக்கழக வளாகத்தில் ஒரு சிலை இருக்கிறது .
ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் வீட்டின் தோட்டத்தில் தாகூர் சிலை உள்ளது அதன் கீழ் Rabindranath Tagore – Poet, Painter, Playwright, Thinker, Teacher – The Voice of India” எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது ;
பொருள்
ரவீந்திர நாத் தாகூர் – கவிஞர், ஓவியர், நாடக ஆசிரியர், சிந்தனைச் சிற்பி, ஆசிரியர் ;இந்தியாவின் குரல் –
இந்தச் சிலையின் பின்னல் ஒரு கதை உள்ளது . டில்லியில் ஜனாதிபதி மாளிகையில் ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் நூலகம் உள்ளது ஷேக்ஸ்பியரின் 400-ஆவது ஆண்டு பிறந்த நாள் விழா 1964-ம் ஆண்டு நடந்தது; அப்போது கல்கத்தா ஆர்ட் சொசைட்டி- கலைச்சங்கம்- ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் மீது தாகூர் எழுதிய கவிதையை தந்ததினாலான பலகையில் எழுதி அன்பளிப்பாகக் கொடுத்தது.
முப்பது ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின்னர் அந்த நூலகத்துக்கு வந்த பிரிட்டனில் உள்ள இந்திய தூத்ர் டாக்டர் சிங்வி அதைப்பார்த்தார் பிரிட்டனில் ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் பிறந்த இடத்தில் இந்தக் கவிதை இருப்பது சாலப்பொருத்தம் என்று எண்ணி முயற்சிகளை எடுத்தார். அதன் விளைவாக மேற்குவங்க அரசு மார்பளவுள்ள ஒரு வெண்கலச் சிலையைச் செய்து (A bronze bust of a head and shoulders, created by Calcutta sculptor Debabrata Chakraborty) பிரிட்டனுக்கு அனுப்பியது. அதில் கவிதையும் உளது அதுதான் இபோது ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் பிறந்த இடத்தை அலங்கரிக்கிறது ஷேக்ஸ்பியர், தாகூர் ஆகிய இருவரும் உலகறிந்த புலவர்கள், நாடக ஆசிரியர்கள் ; இதை விட வேறு என்ன பொருத்தம் வேண்டும்?
தாகூர் தனது கவிதையை வங்காளி மொழியில் பிஸ்வ கோபி (விஸ்வ கவி) உலக மஹா கவியே என்று துவங்குகிறார்.
தாகூர் எழுதிய வங்காள மொழிக் கவிதையை அவரே ஆங்கிலத்திலும் மொழிபெயர்த்தார்; இதோ அந்த ஆங்கிலக் கவிதை:

When by the far-away sea your fiery disk appeared from behind the unseen, O Poet, O Sun.
England’s horizon felt you near her breast, and took you to be her own.
She kissed your forehead, caught you in the arms of her forest branches.
Hid you behind her mist mantle and watched you in the green sward where fairies love to play among the meadow flowers.
A few early birds sang your hymn of praise, while the rest of the woodland choir were asleep.
Then at the silent beckoning of the Eternal you rose higher and higher till you reached the mid sky, making all quarters of heaven your own.
Therefore, at this moment, after the end of centuries, the palm groves by the Indian sea raise their tremulous branches to the sky murmuring your praise.’
On Monday 9 May, 2022 Dr Shashank Vikram, Consul General of India, Birmingham, paid homage to Tagore on his birth anniversary by laying a beautiful flower garland at his bust in the Birthplace garden.

A bust of Rabindranath Tagore, a gift from India, was presented to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK, in 1995. It is now located in the Birthplace garden and is a testament to the connection between the two iconic figures. The bust was crafted by Debabrata Chakraborty and is displayed on a plinth designed by William Hawkes and engraved with Tagore’s poem to Shakespeare.
தாகூருக்கு ஷேக்ஸ்பியர் எழுதிய கவிதைகள் நாடகங்கள் மிகவும் பிடிக்கும். தாகூரோவெனில் கதை கட்டுரை, கவிதை , நாடகம் எழுதல் ஓவியம் வரைதல்,மொழிபெயர்த்தல் முதலிய எல்லாம் அறிந்த சகல கலா வல்லுநர் ; அவர் இயற்றிய கீதாஞ்சலி நூலுக்காக அவருக்கு நோபல் பரிசு கிடைத்தது.
தாகூர் எழுதிய ஒரு கவிதை எல்லோருக்கும் தெரிந்திருக்கும்; ஏனெனில் பாட புஸ்தகங்களில் அது இருக்கிறது; அதே போல அவர் எழுதிய இந்திய தேசீய கீதமும் எல்லா இடங்களிலும் கிடைக்கும்.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
பொருள்
சுருக்கமான பொருள் என்னவென்றால் அச்சமு, அடக்குமுறையும், அறியாமையும் இல்லாத ஒரு உலகம் உருவாக்க வேண்டும். மக்கள் சுயமரியாதையுடன் வாழ வேண்டும். விவேகத்துடன் சிந்திக்க வேண்டும் அத்தகைய சுதந்திர , முற்போக்குடைய, ஒன்றுபட்ட இந்தியாவை இறைவன் நமக்கு அருள்வானாக எல்லோருக்கும் அறிவு கிடைத்து, சத்தியம் தழைத்து ஓங்கட்டும் . எல்லா செயல்களையும் நல்ல சிந்தனை வழிநடத்திச் செல்லட்டும் .
பேஸ்புக்கில் ஒரு மொழிபெயர்ப்பையும் கண்டேன் ; இதோ அந்த மொழிபெயர்ப்பு :-
அச்சம் துறந்த மனம், சிரம் நிமிர்ந்த பார்வை, எடுக்குமோ இப்பிறவி?விலையிலா ஞானம், காணுமோ இவ்வுலகம்?
யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர், முழங்குமோ நம் உலகம்?உண்மையின் ஆழம், உரைக்குமோ நம் வாய்மை?
சோர்வில்லாத உழைப்பு, விளைந்திடுமோ பெருவிளைச்சல்?பகுத்தறிவு எனும் தெழிந்த நீரோடை ஓடாதோ பயனற்ற பழைமை எனும் பாலைமணல் வழி.?
இறை நல்வழி நடத்தி, மனம் செல்லுமோ நினைவும் ஆக்கமும் ஒடுங்கா உயரம் வான் விரியும் பறவையாய்.
என் இறையே தருவாய் எம் மக்கள் கானா நல் விடியலை.

லண்டனில் தாகூர் சிலை
லண்டனில் பல்கலைக்கழகத்துக்கு மிக அருகில் உள்ள கார்ட்டன் ஸ்கொயரில் WC1, GORDON SQUARE, GARDEN இன்னும் ஒரு தாகூர் சிலை நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதை பிரின்ஸ் சார்லஸ் (இப்போது மன்னர் சார்லஸ்) – 2011 ஆம் ஆண்டு (Unveiled by HRH The Prince of Wales, 7 July 2011) .திறந்துவைத்தார் இதிலும் தாகூரின் கவிதை உள்ளது சிலையை வடிவமைத்தவர் (Sculpted by Shenda Amery. Installed by the Tagore Centre UK.) செண்டா அமெரி.
அதிலுள்ள தாகூரின் கவிதை:-
Thou hast made me endless, such is thy pleasure. This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again, and fillest it ever with fresher life.
This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales and hast breathed through it melodies eternally new. At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart loses its limits in a great joy and gives birth to utterance ineffable. Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine. Ages pass and still thou pourist and still there is room to fill.

தாகூரின் பிறந்த நாள் மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் கொண்டாடப்படுவதை போலவே லண்டனிலும் ஆண்டுதோறும் ( 7 May ) கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது . இது போல பாரதியார். வள்ளுவர் நாட்களையும் கொண்டாடுவது தமிழர்தம் கடமை.
