The tree says to the axe: You could not cut me if I have not given you the handle. (be grateful)

Taking shelter under the shade of a tree and breaking of its branches. (ingratitude)

As the twig is bent, the tree is inclined.
A great tree attracts the wind
(i.e. a rich man is likely to tempt the cupidity of others).
Though a tree be a thousand chang in height its leaves must return to the earth at last.
(chang is ten Chinese feet)
A tree blown down by the wind has more branches than roots.
The tree exists for its fruit, and man for righteousness and self-control.
