Akananuru verse 13 by Perunthalaich Sathanar (Saaththanaar) has three interesting details:
Pandyan king is wearing pearl garland from the southern seas and Sandal garland from the Pohiya Hills (Western Ghats/ Sahyaadri in Sanskrit).
That Sandal garland is not an ordinary one. That was the one given by mountain tribes after worshipping Lord Murugan/Skanda/Kartikeya. But the word in the poem is just God (Kadavul in Tamil)
This shows that 2000 years ago the mountain tribes were worshipping God/Lord Muruga.

We come across a Pandyan army commander by name Panni. He used to catch forest elephants and donate them. Very interesting! Not selling!!
And we hear that he trained elephants with special language for them. The commentators give two words:
Ai ai
Apputhu apputhu
In another verse we come across they have trained them with Sanskrit. We will look at it later.

When the poet described the ripe paddy fields, he compared them to flame tip. When the fire is glowing, we can see the tip of the fire dancing. Nammalvaar, most famous Vaishnavite saint, was also from Pandya country. He compared the paddy crops dancing in the wind to Chowries. Servants will be showing fly whisks and fans to Gods and Kings on both sides in ancient Tamil Nadu.

Look at the name of the poet. His name is Big Head Saathhan
Tamils never hesitated to mention the body parts even if they look awkward. Just to differentiate him from other poets, they do it. I will show you more such names in Akananuru when we come across them. They used eyes a lot.

In Hindu culture Gods and Kings are equal. Here the King is portrayed as one where Goddess Lakshmi lives in his chest (heart). This appellation or epithet is used to Lord Vishnu by Aalvaars.
