In Puram verse 3 there are seven interesting points:
1.Name of the poet and the king இரும்பிடர்த்தலையார், பெரும்பெயர் வழுதி
The name of the poet has two meaning: 1.Used in the poem as an epithet to the elephant;2.Commentators point out another person with the same name who is the uncle of Karikal Choza, a BCE period king; either way it shows this king is an ancient one, rightly placed in the Puram in the very beginning.
The name of the king is more interesting; in Sanskrit it is Maa Keerti (Mahaa Kirti= Great Fame). That king is listed in one of the early Tamil Academies/Tamil Sangams.

2.White Umbrella (used from Kalidasa)
உவவுமதி உருவின் ஓங்கல் வெண்குடை
This is used by the commentators for the word Ongal Venkudai in Tamil. White Umbrella, as a symbol of Emperors, is used in the earlier Sanskrit literature like Kalidasa and other works. Raghuvamsa of Kalidasa says white umbrella shining like moon (3-16)

3,Gowriyar கவுரியர் மருக
This is very interesting because it shows the connection between the Pandavas and the Pandyas. Another title used for Pandyas is Panchavar (Number Five). Both these words show they belong to the same Chandra Vamsa of the Kuru Kula (both Pandavas and Kauravas); later stories like Arjuna marrying Alli/ Chitrangada/ of Pandya country are also shown as proofs.

4.Nemi/Wheel
It is a Sanskrit word and Sanskrit expression. Kings are said to rule the whole country under ONE WHEEL (nemi). Kala Nemi, Sudar Nemi are in Vishnu Sahasranama, Divya Prabandham etc.

5.Yama மருந்தில் கூற்றத்து
There is no remedy for death; literally there is no medicine for death; Alvars also sing “Oh Vishnu, I cant say STOP when Yama comes”.

6.Earthquake நிலம் பெயரினும் நின்சொற்பெயரல்
Tamils knew about the earthquakes that rocked North India very often. The effect of earthquakes in Indian history and geography has not been well researched. Earthquakes changed the course of the rivers and the history. Here the poet used it as a simile.

This type of stone monuments is seen around the world. Stone Circles (most famous Stone Henge in England), Stone mounds, Menhirs, Cists etc are seen throughout India. From the very ancient period men have shown some respect and reverence to the departed souls.

Your towering white umbrella, in the shape of the lovely full moon (RAGHUVAMSA 3-16),
O heir to KAVURIYAR with unlimited generosity, who ruled
the wheel of law NEMI with kind hearts! Husband to a woman of
faultless purity, whose ornaments are lovely! O Vazhuthi of
great fame MAHA KEERTI with a gleaming sword in your strong hand!
You do not tire at the difficult work of YAMA for whom
there is no medicine, as you ride the huge neck of your elephant (IRUMPIDAR THALAI)
that is fierce to approach, who batters fortress gates of
enemies with his tusks as weapons, who has a massive trunk,
a spotted forehead with gold ornaments, fragrant liquid of
musth, and on each flank, dangling bells tied to ropes.
The earth might move, but may your words be immovable (EARTHQUAKES),
O king with a broad chest smeared with sandal paste and
feet adorned with golden anklets!
You have the ability to remove the poverty of those who come
desiring you, through difficult forked paths with unnam trees,
passing through the wasteland with long paths without cities
and water, where harsh-eyed marksmen with unfailing arrows
cover their eyes with bent hands and shoot, killing travellers
who then lie under fresh piles of stones (STONE CIRCLES, MENHIRS, CISTS) where kites with
perfect wings and curved beaks sit and yearn. You are capable
of knowing what those in need want, by just looking at their faces.

பாண்டியர்களுக்கு கவுரியர் பஞ்சவர் , மீனவர், தென்னவர் முதலிய பல அடைமொழிகள் உள்ளன கல்வெட்டுகளும் செப்பேடுகளும் அவர்களை பஞ்ச பாண்டவர் போல சந்திர வம்சத்து அரசர்களாகவே குறிப்பிடுகின்றன . கவுரியர் என்ற சொல் சங்க இலக்கியத்தில் சில இடங்களில் வந்துள்ளன இது குரு குலத்தை– அதாவது கெளரவ வம்சத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் என்ற பொருளில் வருகிறது. மகாபாரதமும் சில இடங்களில் அர்ஜுனன் பாண்டியர் தொடர்பினைப் பேசுகிறது சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்லவேண்டுமானால் இது குரு வம்சத்தினர் என்பதைக் குறிக்கும். மகாபாரத போரில் பாண்டியன் ஒருவனை அஸ்வத்தாமன் கொன்றதை பி டி சீனிவாச அய்யங்கார் குறிப்பிட்டுக் காட்டியுள்ளார்; அர்ஜுனன்- அல்லி ராணி நாட்டுப்புறப் பாடல் கதைகளும் இதை மெய்ப்பிக்கின்றன

அம்பு விட வீழ்ந்தோர் வம்பப் பதுக்கைத்,
திருந்து சிறை வளைவாய்ப் பருந்து இருந்து உயவும்
உன்ன மரத்த துன்னருங் கவலை,
நின் நசை வேட்கையின் இரவலர் வருவர் அது
முன்னம் முகத்தின் உணர்ந்து, அவர் 25
இன்மை தீர்த்தல் வன்மையானே.
