இது தான் இந்தியா – யுவான் சுவாங்!

இந்தியாவைப் பற்றிப் புகழாத பண்டைய யாத்ரீகர்களே இல்லை. வியப்பின் உச்சிக்கே அவர்கள் சென்றனர்.
சீன யாத்ரீகரான யுவாங் (ன்) சுவாங் கூறியவை இவை:-
கனௌஜ் நகருக்கு வந்த அவர் கூறியது இது:-
“It (Kanuj) has lofty walls and solid trenches; on all sides are seen towers and pavilions. In several places there are also flowery groves and limpid ponds, crystal, clear, in this country there are found in plenty the rarest wares of other lands.”
மஹராஷ்டிராவிற்கு வந்த அவர் கூறியது இது:-
The soil (of Maharashtra) is rich and fertile, it is regularly cultivated and very productive. The climate is hot, and the disposition of the people is honest and simple; they are tall of stature and of stern and vindicative character. To their benefactors they are grateful; to their enemies relentless. If they are insulted, they will risk their lives to avenge themselves. If they are asked to help one in distress they will forget themselves in their haste to render assistance.”
இந்தியர்களைப் பற்றி அவர் கூறியது:-
The Indians are distinguished by the straight forwardness and honesty of their character. With regard
to riches, they never take anything unjustly! With regard to justice, they make even excessive conscessions. Straight forwardness is the leading feature of their administration.

கனௌஜ் நகரத்தின் சுவர்கள், வடிகால் குழாய்கள், அரண்மனைகள், கோபுரங்கள் பற்றியும் அங்குள்ள அழகிய பூ மலர்ந்த குளங்களையும் அவர் புகழ்கிறார்.
மஹராஷ்டிர மக்கள் தங்கள் செழிப்பான நிலத்தைப் பண்படுத்தி உழுது அதை எப்போதும் செழுமையாக வைத்திருப்பதையும் சீதோஷ்ண நிலை மிக உஷ்ணமாக இருப்பதையும், மஹராஷ்டிர மக்கள் நேர்மையையும் எளிமையையும் கொண்டவர்கள் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் தங்களது ஆதரவாளர்களுக்கு நன்றி உடையவர்களாகவும் எதிரிகளுக்கு சிம்ம சொப்பனமாகவும் இருப்பார்கள் என்பதையும் குறிப்பிடுகிறார்.
இந்தியர்களின் பொதுவான குணங்களின் அடிநாதமாக ஒளிவு மறைவற்ற நேர்மை இருப்பதை அவர் குறிப்பிடுகிறார். நேர்மை, வெளிப்படையான நடத்தை இவையே இந்தியர்களின் குணாதிசயங்கள். பணக்காரர்களோ எனில் எதையும் அதர்ம வழியில் பெறுவதில்லை. நீதியை எடுத்துக் கொண்டால் அதில் அவர்கள் நல்ல தாராளத்தைக் காண்பிக்கின்றனர். (அதன் பின்னரே உரிய நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்கிறார்கள் என்று அர்த்தம்) அவர்களது நிர்வாகத்தில் ஒளிவு மறைவற்ற நேர்மையே அடிநாதமாக விளங்குகிறது என்கிறார் ஹுவான் சு வாங்.
அன்றைய நிலையையும் இன்றைய நிலையையும் ஒப்பிட்டுப் பார்த்தால் ஒரு கணம் மனம் வருத்தமுறுகிறது.
எங்கும் லஞ்சம்; எதிலும் லஞ்சம்; நேர்மையற்ற அரசியல்வாதிகளின் குறுக்கீடுகள் அன்றாட வாழ்வில் அதிகமாக இருப்பதால் நல்லவர்கள் அஞ்சி ஒதுங்க, ரௌடிகள் எங்கும் தடிகளுடன் அலைகிறார்கள்.
இதை மாற்ற மக்கள் மனது வைத்தால் மட்டுமே முடியும். நேர்மையானவர்கள் நிர்வாகத்தில் இருந்து பழைய பண்புகளைக் கொண்டு வாழ்ந்து வழிகாட்டியாக இருந்தால், பழைய புகழோங்கிய நாட்கள் மீண்டும் வரும்!
