There are lot of Sanskrit slokas (Couplets) which beautifully describes various aspects of the languages in general. This shows how much the people of ancient India cared about the languages, particularly Sanskrit.

Popular four verses in Saakuntam drama of Kalidasa

Among the classics drama is the best; among the dramas Sakuntalam is the best; in that drama fourth act is the best act; in that four slokas/couplets are the best.
