During my 16 day tour in Hong Kong and Australia I visited Cairns to see the world’s largest natural wonder, the 1300 mile long Great Barrier Reef, Brisbane, Sydney, Blue Mountain etc in Australia. When we went to Blue Mountain in a 12 seater van, they showed us a rock formation called Three Sisters. Immediately we were joking and giving different names to it such as Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati or Brahma Vishnu, Sadasiva. Then we visited a place called Echo point where one can get echoes. But my high pitched sounds with Rama and Krishna’s names failed to get an echo. Suddenly we were engulfed by the moving clouds. Probably we need proper atmosphere to get an echo.

Though we did not get an echo of Rama or Krishna that surcharged the place with Bhakti waves/ atmosphere! When we were reading the board display explaining Three Sisters, Kings Table Land etc, one of our team members discovered a Lord Ganapathy figure in the hills. I was very happy to photograph it immediately. In fact I saw more Ganesh figures in the Kings Tablelands of the Blue Mountains.

You can look at the figure shown here and identify your favourite gods in the rock formations.

Two Hindu Temples

Australia has got many Hindu temples in every major city such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth etc. I was fortunate to visit Sydney Murugan Temple and Sri Venkateswara Temple at Helens burg. They are situated in huge compounds. They have adjacent halls to celebrate weddings and cultural events.

Even when we entered the Sydney Murugan Temple we saw a marriage party getting ready for the big event.

At Helens burgh temple, they have separate shrines for Saivite and Vaishanavite deities. They have all the 12 Alvars and 63 Nayanmars in sculptures. This temple is situated just opposite a zoo on the tourist route. We saw a large number of devotees in both the temples.
