NOW WE GET DEIVATHIN KURAL IN 7 VOLUMES IN TAMIL WITH KANCHI PARAMACHARYA’S (1894-1994) LECTURES. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF RA. GANAPATHY DID NOT DO THIS EXCELLENT JOB? NO WORRIES. MY FATHER COLLECTED ALL HIS TALKS PUBLISHED BY B G PAUL COMPANY AND KAMAKOTI PRADHISTANAM. BOTH IN TAMIL AND ENGLISH. WE ALL KNOW KALKI MAGAZINE ALSO PUBLISHED HIS TALKS EVERY WEEK. BUT I HAVE HIS FULL ENGLISH AND TAMIL LECTURES, THANKS TO MY FATHER. HE WAS A GREAT ENTHUSIAST IN PRESERVING BOOKS. LOT OF MONEY WAS SPENT IN BINDING THE BOOKS AND PUTTING WRAPPERS. HE WOULD SPEND HOURS IN DECORATING THE BOOKS; HE WAS ALSO VERY FOND OF WRITING THE TITLE OF THE BOOKS ON THE WRAPPER AND HIS SIGNATURE IN THE FIRST PAGE. ஐரோப்பாவில் 8 நாடுகளுக்கு இடையே அமைந்த நாடு (Austria) ஆஸ்திரியா. அதன் தலை நகரம் (Vienna)  வியன்னா. மதுரை, காஞ்சிபுரம் போன்ற நகரங்களை வருணிக்கும்போது கோவில் நகரம் என்று அடைமொழி கொடுக்கிறோம். அப்படியானால் வியன்னாவை என்ன சொல்லி அழைக்கலாம்? நான் ‘மியூசியங்களின் நகரம்’ (City of Museums)  என்றே அழைப்பேன். இரண்டாவது அடை மொழி கேட்டல் இசை நகரம் என்றே அழைப்பேன்.மொசார்ட், பீதோவன் ஸ்டராஸ் , ஷுபெர்ட்  போன்ற இசை மேதைகளின் பிறப்பிடம் அல்லது வாழ்விடம் இது.

 எந்த ஊருக்கும் போவதற்கு முன்னர் எதற்காகப் போகிறோம், அங்கு என்ன பார்க்கவேண்டும் என்று முன் கூட்டியே படித்துவிட்டு, பார்க்க வேண்டிய இடங்களைத் தீர்மானித்துவிட்டு அதற்காகத் திட்டமிட்டு போக வேண்டும். குடும்பத்தோடு, குறிப்பாக சிறு வயது குழந்தைகளுடன் போகும்போது நாம் திட்டமிட்டபடி எல்லாம் நடக்காது. அவர்களுடைய உடல்நலமும் மன நலமுமே முக்கியம். ஆயினும் இந்த ஆஸ்திரிய விஜயம் திட்டமிட்டபடி நடந்ததால் வெற்றி என்றே சொல்லுவேன் . அது எப்படி?

நான் பார்க்க திட்டமிட்ட இடங்கள்:

வியன்னாவின் அரண்மனை , டான்யூப் நதி, ஓவியங்கள் நிறைந்த பெல்வெடெர் மியூசியம், ஹவுஸ் ஆப் ம்யூசிக் எனப்படும் இசை மியூசியம், , ஹரே கிருஷ்ணா இயக்கம் நடத்தும் கோவிந்தா உணவுவிடுதி.

இவை அனைத்தும் இனிதே நடந்தேறியது. ஆயினும் மொசார்ட் மியூசியம், பேரக்குழந்தைகளுக்காக டெக்னலாலஜி மியூசியம் போக எண்ணினேன்; இயலவில்லை.ஐந்துக்கு நாலு பழுது இல்லை என்று திருப்தி அடைந்தேன்.

சில அறிவுரைகள் 

ஷோன் பிரன் (Schonbrunn palace) அரண்மனைக்குச் சென்றோம். ஆயினும் ஐரோப்பா முழுதும் எல்லா அரண்மனைகளும் ஒரே மாதிரிதான் உள்ளன. 1990ல் பாரிசுக்கு அணித்தேயுள்ள வெர்சாய் அரண்மனைக்குச் சென்றேன். அண்மையில் ஸ்பெயின் நாட்டின் தலை நகரான மாட்ரிட்டில் உள்ள அரண்மனைக்குச் சென்றேன்  இடையில் சுவீடன் நாட்டின் தலை நகரான ஸ்டாக்ஹோமில் உள்ள அரசாங்க மியூசியத்துக்குச் சென்றேன் ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் நுழைவுக் கட்டணமோ ‘யானை விலை , குதிரை விலை’. ஒரே ஒரு மியூசியத்தைப் பார்த்தாலே போதும்.

அங்கே என்ன இருக்கும்? அரசர்கள், அரசிகள் உபயோகித்த படுக்கை, நாற்காலிகள், சோபாக்கள், ஆயுதங்கள், இசைக் கருவிகள், பிரம்மாண்டமான கண்ணாடிகள், பளிங்குச் சிலைகள், அவர்கள் உபயோகித்த பெரிய டைனிங் டேபிள், வெள்ளி, தங்கக் கத்திகள் கிண்ணங்கள், சில இட ங்களில் காலணிகள், சுருட்டுகள் , கிரீடங்கள் மஹாராணியின் அலங்கார, அறைகள் , அலங்காரப் பொருட்கள், விதவிதமான கடிகாரங்கள் (தங்கம் அல்லது தங்க முலாம் பூசப்பட்டவை) முதலியன எல்லா இடங்களிலும் இருக்கும். அவை எல்லாம் இந்திய போல 2000 ஆண்டுப் பழமையானதும் அல்ல. அதிகம் சொல்லப் போனால் 300, 400ஆண்டுப் பழமை உடையானதான் ; இதற்குப் போய் நேரத்தையும் பணத்தையும் செலவழிப்பது நியாயமில்லை. ஆகையால் ஒரு ஐரோப்பிய  மியூசியம் பார்த்தாலே போதும்; காஸை செலவழிக்காதீர்கள்.மேலும்  படிக்கட்டுக்கு மேலே போட்டோ எடுக்கவும் அனுமதி இல்லை. அவர்கள் விற்பனை செய்யும் படங்களையே வாங்க வேண்டும்..

 அவர்களைப் பொறுத்தவரை கட்டணம் நியாயமானதே; ஒவ்வொரு அறையிலும் காட்சிக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள பொக்கிஷங்களைக் காவல் காப்பதற்கு ஊழியர்கள், அவர்களை மேற்பார்வை செய்ய அதிகாரிகள், கழிப்பறை, ஓய்வு அறை , உணவு விடுதி வசதிகள் என்று அவர்கள் ஏராளமாக பொருட் செலவு செய்கிறார்கள். ஆகவே டிக்கெட் கட்டணம் நியாயமானதே. நம்மைப் பொறுத்த வரையில் ஒரு அரண்மமனையைப் பார்த்தால் போதும். ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தின் வரலாற்றை ஆராய்வோருக்கு அந்தந்த மியூசியம் அவசியம்.

எனக்குப் பிடித்ததும் பிடிக்காததும்

ஆஸ்திரியா முழுதும் ஜெர்மன் மொழிதான் உபயோகத்தில் உள்ளது; மருந்துக்கும் ஆங்கிலம் கிடையாது. ரயில் டிராம்களில் சொல்லப்படும் அறிவிப்புகளும் ஜெர்மன் மொழியில்தான். இதுதான் எனக்குப் பிடிக்காத விஷயம். மியூசியங்களில் மட்டும் துண்டுப் பிரசுரங்களில் கொஞ்சம் ஆங்கிலத்தைக் காணலாம்.

பிடித்த விஷயம் என்னவென்றால் டிராம் (Tram) மற்றும் ரயில் போக்குவரத்து. சொன்ன நேரத்திற்கு வண்டிகள் வரும்; அவற்றை போர்டில் தெளிவாகவும் காட்டுகின்றனர். நான் வசிக்கும் லண்டன் இதற்கு நேர் மாறானது. அடுத்த மெட்ரோ ரயில் 3 நிமிடம் என்று எழுதியிருக்கும். ஒரு நிமிடம் காட்டும்போது அது மாறாமல் நின்றுவிடும். ரயில் 6, 7 நிமிடங்களுப் பின்னரே வரும். உண்மையில் போர்ட் என்ன காட்ட வேண்டும்? மைனஸ் 1, மைனஸ் 2 என்றுகாட்டவேண்டும். அப்படிச் செய்வது இல்லை. சுவிஸர்லாந்திலோ, ஆஸ்திரியாவிலோ சொன்ன நேரத்துக்கு டிராம் , ரயில்வண்டிகள் உங்கள் முன்னே நிற்கும். அந்த வகையில் வியன்னா பாராட்டுக்குரியதே.

நாங்கள் எல்லோரும் 72 மணி நேர டிக்கெட் வாங்கி 3 நாட்களுக்கு முழுதும் உபயோகித்தோம் அந்த டிக்கெட்டுகளை பஸ் , ரயில், டிராம் எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் பயன்படுத்தலாம்.

கோவிந்தா ரெஸ்டாரண்ட்

ஹரே கிருஷ்ணா இயக்கத்தினர் ஐரோப்பா முழுதும் கோவிந்தா(Govinda)   ரெஸ்டா ரண்ட் நடத்துகின்றனர். நான் போர்ச்சுகல் தலைநகரான லிஸ்பனில் ஹரே கிருஷ்ணா உணவு வீடுதிக்குச் சென்றுள்ளேன்; வியன்னாவில் உள்ள உணவு விடுதி மிகவும் சிறியது ; ஒரு கடையில் 10, 15 பேர் உட்கார்ந்து சாப்பிடும் வகையில் உள்ளது; சுற்றிலும்  விற்பனைக்கான கலைப் பொருட்கள் இருக்கின்றன. ஆயினும் சாத்வீகமான உணவு.

 இந்த இடத்தில் வேகன் VEGAN FOOD உணவு விடுதிகள் பற்றி ஒரு எச்சரிக்கை தர விரும்புகிறேன்.. பால், தயிர், வெண்ணெய், சீஸ் ஆகியவற்றைத் தவிர்ப்பது இந்துக்கள் கொள்கை அல்ல . வேத காலம் முதல் இன்று வரை கடவுளரும் சந்யாசிகளும் பயன்படுத்துவது பால் பொருட்களே. மேலும் மாட்ரிட்  Madrid நகரில் மீன், நண்டு ஆகிய உணவுகளையும் வேகன் ரெஸ்டாரண்ட் விற்கிறது ஆகையால் வெஜிட்டேரியன்கள் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.வியன்னா நகரில் SCHONBRUNN PALACE அரண்மனை, டவுன்ஹால், நகர கடைத்தெரு, பல இத்தாலிய உணவு விடுதிகளுக்குச் சென்றோம். தங்கியிருந்த ஹோட்டல் வாசலுக்கே டிராம் வந்ததால் முக்கால்வாசி அதில்தான் பயணம் செய்த்தோம்.

மஹாராணியின் அலங்கார, அறைகள் , அலங்காரப் பொருட்கள்

சுமார் 200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் ஹங்கேரிய அரசு குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்த எலிசபெத்தின் பட்டப்பெயர் (Sisi or Sissi) சிஸ்ஸி . அவள் பேரழகி; கூந்தல் ராணி. தினமும் அவளுடைய நீண்ட முடியைக் கட்டுவதற்கு; பின்னுவதற்கு 3 மணி நேரம் செலவிடுவாளாம். வாரத்துக்கு ஒரு முறை முட்டை மற்றும் மதுபானம் மூலம் தலைமுடியைக் கழுவுவாளாம் அன்று அவருடைய நிகழ்சசிகள் அனைத்தும் ரத்து.! நாங்கள் SCHONBRUNN PALACE அரண்மனைக்குள் நுழைந்தவுடன் சிஸ்ஸியின் நீண்ட கூந்தல் அலங்காரத்தைக் கண்டோம். ஏனைய அனைத்தும் நான் மேலே கொடுத்த பட்டியலில் உள்ள பொருட்களே ! ஆஸ்திரியப் பேரரசர் ஜோசெப் பிரான்ஸை மணந்தாலும் ஆஸ்திரிய நாட்டின் சக்ரவர்த்தினியாகவும் ஹங்கேரியின் மஹாராணியாகவும் வாழ்ந்த சிஸ்ஸி நல்ல வாழ்க்கை பெறவில்லை. ஒரே மகனும் மருமகளும் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டனர். அவளோ கொலை செய்யப்பட்டாள் ; ஆயினும் மகன் இறந்த பின்னர் தனிப்பட்ட கப்பலில் ஐரோப்பா முழுதும் சுற்றுப் பயணம் செய்தாள் .

 வியன்னா நகரம் பழைய நகரங்களில் ஒன்று. கட்டிடங்கள் எல்லாம் கருங்கற்களால் கட்டப்பட்டவை போல காட்சி தரும் ;ஆயினும் பெரும்பாலான கட்டிடங்களில் குதிரை வீரன் மற்றும் பழங்கால் சின்னங்கள் இருப்பதால் எவை புதிது அவை பழையன என்பது தெரியவில்லை நாங்கள் நகர மண்டபம், பெரிய சர்ச்சுகள் , அரண்மனை, மியூசியம் வாசல்களில் நின்று புகைப்படங்கள் எடுத்தோம்.

பத்து நாடுகள் வழியாகப் பாயும் டான்யூப்  நதியைப்  (Danube River) பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்று ரொம்ப நாளாக எனக்கொரு ஆசை; அது 25-10-2022ல் நிறைவேறியது. குடும்பத்தோடு ஆஸ்திரியாவின் தலைநகர் வியன்னாவில் (Vienna , Austria ) ஐந்து நாட்கள் தங்கி தீபாவளிப் பண்டிகையைக் கொண்டாடினோம்.. தீபாவளியன்று கங்கா ஸ்னானம் ஆச்சா? என்று கேட்பது சம்பிரதாயம்.அதாவது அன்றைய தினம் அதிகாலையில் எங்கு குளித்தாலும் அது கங்கையில் குளிப்பததற்குச் சமம். அதாவது அன்றைய தினம் கங்கா தேவி எல்லா நீர் நிலைகளிலும் பிரவேசிக்கிறாள் . நாங்கள் வியன்னாவில் ஹோட்டல் அறையில் குளித்துவிட்டு திருப்தி அடைந்தோம். வியன்னாவில் குடிநீர் சப்ளை  அருகிலுள்ள மலை ஊற்றிலிருந்து வருகிறதாம். நதியிலிருந்து அல்ல; நிற்க .

டான்யூப் நதி மேல் ஏன் அவ்வளவு காதல் என்று கேட்கிறீர்களா? இயற்கையிலேயே  விஞ்ஞானத்தின் எல்லா துறைகளிலும் , பூகோளம் , சரித்திர பாடங்களிலும் எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசை , ஈடுபாடு உண்டு.அந்தவகையில் ஐரோப்பாவின் இரண்டாவது நீளமான நதியான டான்யூப் நதியைச் சந்தித்து , ஹலோ  ஹவ் ஆர் யூ ? Hello! How are you?  என்று கேட்க விரும்பினேன். நாங்கள் மாலை நேரத்தில் சென்றதால் கடைசி கப்பலும் சென்றுவிட்டதால் (Boat ride or Cruise) படகு சவாரி செய்ய இயலவில்லை. ஆயினும் நீல நீரையுடைய நீளமான நதியைக் கண்டேன்; ஆனந்தம் கொண்டேன்.

இரண்டு உலக யுத்தங்களிலும் சம்மந்தப்பட்டது இந்த நதி. ஜெர்மனியில் கருங்காட்டில் (Black Forest)  உற்பத்தியாகி 10 நாடுகளில் பாய்ந்து கருங்கடலில் (Black Sea)  சங்கமம் அடைகிறது. ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதத்திலும் தமிழிலும் நீலம்/Blue என்பதை கருமைக்கும் பயன்படுத்துவோம். நீல குயில் என்போம்; கரு ங்குயில் என்று பாடுவோம்.  நான் பிராமணன் என்ற முறையில் தினமும் தெற்கு திசை நோக்கி நின்று, மூன்று வேளைகளில் யமதர்மனுக்குச் சொல்லும் மந்திரத்திலும் அவனை நீல நிறத்தவனே என்று போற்றுவேன். அவனோ Utter Black அட்டர் பிளாக்.;போகட்டும். கருங்காட்டில் உற்பத்தியாகி கருங்கடலில் கலக்கும் நீல(Blue Danube)   டான்யூப் நதிக்கும் அப்பெயரின் பொருத்தத்தை விளக்க இவ்வளவும் சொன்னேன்.

ஹிட்லர் தோற்கப் போவது தெரிந்தவுடன்  ஜெர்மானியர்கள் தங்கள் கப்பல்களை நதியில் வேண்டுமென்றே மூழ்கடித்தனர். இப்போதும் நீர்மட்டம் குறையும் போது அவைகளைக் காணலாம் .

நதியின் நீளமும் அணைகளும்

இந்தியாவில் சிந்து , பிரம்மபுத்ரா நதிகளின் நீளம் 2900 கிலோமீட்டர். கங்கை நதியின் நீளம் 2525 கிலோமீட்டர். டான்யூப் ஆற்றின் நீளம் 2850 கிலோமீட்டர். ஏறத்தாழ சிந்து நதி போன்றதே. ஐரோப்பாவின் நீளமான நதி வால்கா (Volga River)  . அதன் நீளம் 3535 கிலோமீட்டர்.

ஜெர்மனியில் உற்பத்தியாகி உடனே ஆஸ்திரியாவுக்குள் நுழைவதால் அதன் தூய்மை கெடாமல் நீல நிறத்திலேயே எங்களுக்குக் காட்சி தந்தது.

இந்த நதி பற்றி நூற்றுக் கணக்கான புஸ்தகங்களும் பல டாகுமெண்டரிகளும் வெளிவந்துள்ளன.இதன் மீதும் இதன் உபநதிகள் மீதும் 700 அணைகள் உள்ளன. ஜெர்மனியில் இருக்கும் நதி மூலத்திலிருந்து அடுத்த வீடான ஆஸ்திரியா வருவதற்குள் ஆயிரம் கிலோ மீட்டருக்குள்  60 பெரிய அணைகள் இருக்கின்றன. பல நாடுகளின் குடி நீர்ப் பிரச்சனையையும் மின்சார பிரச்சனையையும் இந்த ஆற்று நீர் தீர்ப்பதோடு பாசன வசதிக்கும் பயன்படுகிறது. எல்லா வற்றுக்கும் மேலாக சுற்றுலாப்பயணிகளை கவர்ந்து இழுக்கிறது .காரணம்; ஆயிரக் கணக்கான சொகுசு(Cruises )  கப்பல்கள் பல லட்சம் மக்களை ஏற்றிய வண்ணம் இங்கே பவனி வருகின்றன.

மேலும் சில சுவையான விஷயங்களை (Bullet Points) புல்லட் பாயிண்டுகளில் காண்போம்; மைல் கணக்கில் இதன் நீளத்தைச் சொல்லவேண்டுமானால் 1777 மைல்கள் . இது தோன்றும் இடம் ஜெர்மனி ;ஆனால் சங்கமம் ஆகும் இடம் ருமேனியா

இந்த ஆற்றின் முகத்துவாரத்தில் பல லட்சம் சதுர மைல் பரப்புள்ள பசுமைக் காடுகளும் சதுப்பு நிலக் காடுகளும் பரவிக் கிடக்கின்றன

பல நாடுகளிலிருந்து வரும் குடியேற்றப் பறவைகள் இந்த நதியின் முகத்துவாரத்தில் உள்ள பிரம்மாண்டமான சதுப்பு நிலக்காடுகளில் தங்கி இனப்பெருக்கம் செய்கின்றன.

இந்த ஆறு செல்லும் 10 நாடுகள் – ஜெர்மனி, ஆஸ்திரியா , ஸ்லோவாகியா , ஹங்கேரி, க்ரோவேஷியா செர்பியா , பல்கேரியா,மால்டோவா, உக்ரைன், ருமேனியா .

மூன்று நாடுகளின் தலை நகரங்களான புடாபெஸ்ட், பெல்கிரேட், வியன்னா ஆகியவை இந்த நதிக் கரையில் அமைந்திருப்பது மற்றொரு  சிறப்பு  .

சொகுசு கப்பல்களோடு மிகப்பெரிய வணிகக் கப்பல்களும் செல்லும் அளவுக்கு ஆழம் உடையது இந்த நதி .

இதன் நீர்வழிப்போக்கு மட்டும்தான் சுற்றுலாப்பயணிகளை ஈர்க்கின்றன என்று எண்ணி விடக்கூடாது. நிறைய கால்நடைப் பாதைகளும் சைக்கிள் பாதைகளும் மக்களை ஈர்க்கின்றன.

கலைஞர்கள் , இதன் கரையில் அமர்ந்து வரைவர்; கிராமியப் பாடகர்களும், புலவர்களும் பாடி மகிழ்வர் . 2000 ஆண்டு கிரேக்க, ரோமானிய  வரலாற்றுடனும் இரண்டு உலகப்போர்களுடனும் தொடர்பு இருப்பதால் இதான் வரலாறு நீண்ட வரலாறு ஆகும்

இது  பாயும் நாடுகளில் எட்டு கோடி மக்கள் வசிக்கின்றனர். அவர்களோடு மேலும் 20 கோடிமக்கள் இதனால் பயன் அடைகின்றனர் . பல கால் வாய்கள்  உள் நாட்டிற்கு தண்ணீரை எடுத்துச் செல்கின்றன..

200 வகைமீன்கள் இதில் வசித்தாலும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது சால்மன் வகை மீன்தான். அது மனித உயரத்துக்கு வளருவதோடு முப்பது ஆண்டுகள் வரை வாழக்கூடியதும் ஆகும்.

இவ்வளவு அழகான நதிக்கு ஆபத்தாக விளங்குவது மனிதர்கள் கலக்கும் மாசு ஆகும். இதன் புறச் சூழல் பிரச்சனைகள் குறித்து நிபுணர்கள் எச்சகரித்துள்ளனர். பன்னாட்டு அமைப்புகள் இதில் கவனம் செலுத்தி வருகின்றன. தொழிற்சாலை கழிவுகளோடு சாக்கடை நீரையும் மக்கள் கலக்கின்றனர் .

As a lover of Geography and History, I have been dreaming of seeing the Blue Danube River for long. And at last, my dream came true, and I stood on the banks of River Danube on 25th October 2022. We visited Vienna in Austria for four days. There is a tradition in India to greet everyone on Deepavali (also spelt Diwali) Festival Day “Had you Ganga Snaan in the morning? Is everyone in your family hale and healthy?”. What they mean is the Holy Ganga (also spelt Ganges) comes to every house on the Diwali day and whatever water you use for bathing on that day is considered as holy as River Ganga? And I gave that proud status to Vienna spring water on Diwali day. Because all our family members had Snaanam (bathing) in the hotel room on Diwali day (24-10-22) with that water. Vienna’s drinking water supply comes from mountain springs.

Many people have commented on the blue water of Danube and of late people have been resenting about the pollution in the river as well which turned the blue  river into pink and brownish. Here are a few quotes on River Danube.

Interesting Facts about river

Since I was not far from the place of river’s origin, I saw only Blue Danube. It is the second longest river in Europe and the most international river flowing through ten European countries. When we went there in the evening it was too late for the river cruise. But I saw lot of ferries and ships going along the river even from the plane. So I had the bird’s eye view of the river even before touching down in Vienna.

Here are some interesting facts about the river:

Indian rivers Sindhu/Indus and Brahmaputra are about 2900 kilometres long and Danube is 2857 kilometres long, nearly same. Holy Ganga is 2525 Kms long.

The Danube is 2,857 km long and up to 1.5 km wide. It is the second largest river in Europe – after the Volga (3,535 km).

One of Europe’s most well-known international waterways, the Danube is a lifeline, a vital shipping route, and an international creative hotspot. This amazing river has been at the heart of European creative and political history for thousands of years.

Pollution Problem

A wide-ranging global study has identified the Danube as the river with the highest concentration of antibiotics in Europe and the single most polluted on the continent.

The Danube begins in Germany and snakes through nine other countries, covering 2,850 kilometres, before draining into the Black Sea.

In 2019, a group of Austrian scientists noted a “critical” presence of E. coli bacteria in Serbia’s strip of the river, which can cause infections in humans. Local experts noted that this is a sign of the high levels of organic pollution.

Flora & Fauna 

Where the mighty Danube River meets the Black Sea, it has created a massive delta land, Europe’s largest wetland area.

The Danube Delta, the largest river delta wetland in Europe, has become one of the finest, wildest, best protected and most famous wildlife areas of the whole continent. The area provides new sources of income and pride for the people who live here and in the surrounding Romanian, Ukrainian and Moldavian regions.

The 580,000 hectare delta is home to massive amounts of waterbirds of all kinds, most notably white pelicans, herons, storks, cormorants and terns. It is a favourite staging area for passage migrants and also wintering grounds for masses of migrating waterbirds from the steppes, the boreal forests and the Tundras further north.

The delta is harbouring the largest number of fish species anywhere in Europe, including  Beluga sturgeon.

Flowing 2,857 km from Germany’s Black Forest to the Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine and the Black Sea, the Danube is Europe’s only major river which flows west to east, from Central to Eastern Europe. The European Commission now recognizes the Danube as the “single most important non-oceanic body of water in Europe” and a “future central axis for the European Union”. Major tributaries of the Danube include the Tisza, Drava, Sava, Inn, and Prut rivers.

About 83 million people live in the Danube River Basin and more than 20 million people depend directly on the Danube for their drinking water – primarily groundwater from domestic wells. The basin also unifies and sustains a wealth of diverse cultures and traditions.

More than 80% of the length of the Danube has been regulated, and over 700 dams and weirs have been built along its main tributaries.

This river flows through 10 countries. Start from Germany, this river flow through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine and end up in Black Sea. Some of top-class fishing species, like Pike, Zander, Welsh Catfish, Tench, Carp, Sturgeon, Salmon or Trout can be found in this river. More than that, in Danube delta, you also can find many unique Euryhaline fish, like eel, Sea bass and Mullet.

The Danube salmon can reach the size of a man and live for 30 years – but its last hunting grounds in the Balkans are being threatened by a rash of dam-building.

The upper part of the Danube is ideal for building hydropower plants due to the river’s natural gradient. A total of 59 dams have been built along the Danube’s first 1,000 kilometres – from the source down to Gabcikovo – many of them decades ago. This means that the Upper Danube is interrupted every 16 km on average.

Around 60% of the electricity generated in Austria yearly originates from hydropower – 20% produced along the Danube itself

At a high-level meeting of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River in Innsbruck, Austria, representatives of Danube basin countries discussed for the first time how to prevent new hydropower projects from damaging river ecosystems of the 800,000 km2 large basin.

Hundreds of books have been written on this beautiful river in addition to many documentaries.

பொருள் : சங்கப் பலகையில் வீற்றிருந்த நாற்பத்தொன்பது புலவர்களுக்கும் வேறுபாடு இல்லாத முறையில் ஞானப் பகுதியில் உள்ள இலக்கண இலக்கிய (இயல், இசை, நாடகம் ஆகிய) முத்தமிழில் (சிவபெருமான் இயற்றிய) அகப்பொருள் விளக்கத்தைக் குற்றமின்றி உணர்வித்து அருளிய வித்தகனே, சற் குருநாதனே!

பொருள் : சிறப்பு மிக்க குறத்தியாகிய வள்ளியின் இன்பம் பொலியும் மார்பகத்தை விரும்பி மேவும் சாமர்த்திய அழகனே, தண்ணிய தமிழ் வழங்கும் பழநி மலையில் தங்கி வீற்றிருக்கும் பெருமாளே!

இடமிலிகைக் கொடையிலிசொற் கியல்பிலிநற் றமிழ்பாட

 இருபதமுற் றிருவினையற் றியல் கதியைப் – பெறவேணும்

பாடல் எண் 167 : திடமிலி சற்குணமிலி எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

 பொருள் : சொர்க்க உலகத்தில் இடம் பெறத் தகுதி இல்லாதவன் யான். கைகளால் ஒரு தானமும் கொடுத்து அறியாதவன் யான். உன்னை நல்ல தமிழ்ப் பாடலால் பாடுவதற்கு ஏற்ற சொல்வன்மை இல்லாதவன் யான். (இத்தகைய குறைபாடுகள் உள்ள அடியேன்) உனது இரண்டு திருவடிகளையும் அடைந்து, நல்வினை, தீவினை ஆகிய இரு வினைகளும் தீர்ந்து உயர்ந்த முக்தி நிலையைப் பெற்று உய்ய வேண்டும்.

கற்றத மிழ்ப்புல வனுக்கு மேமகிழ்

  வுற்றொரு பொற்கொடி களிக்க வேபொரு

  கற்பனை நெற்பல அளித்த காரண – னருள்பாலா

பாடல் எண் 172 : நெற்றி வெயர்த்துளி எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

 பொருள் : நன்கு கற்ற தமிழ்ப் புலவனாகிய சுந்தரர் மீது மகிழ்ச்சி பூண்டு ஒரு பொன் கொடி போன்ற அவரது மனைவியார் (பரவையார்) களிப்புற, தாம் இட்ட கட்டளைப்படி வந்து குவிந்த நெல் மலையை அளித்த மூலப் பொருளான சிவபெருமான் அருளிய பாலனே!

 விளக்கம் : இங்கு பாடலில் குறிப்பிடப்படும் சம்பவம் இது:

சுந்தரர் பரவையாரோடு திருவாரூரில் வாழ்ந்து வந்த போது குண்டையூர் கிழவர் என்பவர் சுந்தரருக்கு நெல்லைத் தவறாது அளித்து வந்தார். ஒரு சமயம் மழை இல்லாமல் போகவே நெல் கொடுக்க முடியாமல் அந்தக் கிழவர் வருந்தினார். அவரது வருத்தம் நீங்கும் படி சிவபெருமானே நெல் மலை அளித்தார்.

இந்த வரலாறு இங்கு குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது.

 மடிமைசொ லுஞ்சொற் றமிழ்ப் பனீரொடு

  அரியதமிழ் தான ளித்த – மயில்வீரா

 Five years ago, I wrote an article about Akbar’s interest in Sun Worship (Surya Namaskara). In a footnote to a sloka in Rajatarangini of Kalhana (History of Kashmir) R.S.Pandit gives more interesting details of Sun Worship of Moghul emperor Akbar.

Kashmir is famous for Sun Worship . It was ruled by Hindu Kings until 12^th century. Later Muslim rulers invaded and captured power . But yet Babar and Akbar followed some ancient customs.

Here is what R S Pandit says in his translation of Rajatarangini from Sanskrit into English:

Sloka 7-709

Thinking there had been divine anger owing to the destruction of the image of Taamra svaamin (Sun), he (Kashmir king) proceeded to seek refuge with Maartanda to save his life.

This is the famous shrine at Matan, according to Prof.Foucher “rise proudly like a Greek Temple on a promontory”. Apparently, sun worship was prevalent in Kashmir in the time of Kalasa. We know that Akbar attempted to revive the worship of the sun.

The Portuguese account is as follows: It is quite true that he held the law of Mahomed of no account but he was much addicted to the worship of the sun to which he made prayers four times a day, namely in the morning when he rose, at noon , on retiring to bed and again at midnight. On each occasion he repeated as many as a thousand and fifty names of the luminary, which he counted by means small balls threaded like our paternosters, but consisting of beautiful precious stones.” This is corroborated by Badaoni , who tells us that people used to crowd every morning “opposite the window near which his Majesty  used to pray to the sun…….. No sooner his Majesty finished saying the thousand one names of the “Greater Luminary” and stepped into the balcony, then the whole crowd prostrated themselves” (Muntakhab ut-law-arikh Vol.II, page 336)

The worship of the “dazzling Surya” is still the living faith of India of millions of people including the remnant of the ancient Iranians , the Parsis. It is being revived in recent times through physical culture exercises known as ‘Surya Namaskars’ which the Maratha generalissimo at Panipat Sadasiva Rao Bhau practised thousand times a day.

அருணகிரிநாதரும் தமிழும்! – 1

ச.நாகராஜன்

அருணகிரிநாதருக்கும் தமிழுக்கும் உள்ள இணைப்பு அதிசயமானது.

முருகனுக்கும் தமிழுக்கும் உள்ள தொடர்பு எத்தகையதோ அத்தகையது அந்த இணைப்பு.

பல இடங்களில் தமிழ் முருகனைத் தமிழால் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்த அருணகிரிநாதப் பெருமான் தமிழையும் பல்வேறு விதமாக அழகுறப் போற்றி வணங்குகிறார்.

அவர் தமிழைப் பற்றிக் கூறும் இடங்களை இந்தத் தொடரில் காணலாம்.

1) திருப்பரங்குன்றம்

வண்டமிழ் பயில்வோர் பின் திரிகின்றவன்

பாடல் எண் 14 – சருவும் படி எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் : வளமான தமிழைப் பயில்கின்றோர் பின்னால் திரிகின்றவன்

2) திருச்செந்தூர்

தமிழினி தென்காற் கன்றிற்

   றிரிதரு கஞ்சாக் கன்றைத்

     தழலெழ வென்றார்க் கன்றற் புதமாகச்

சிவ வடி வங்காட் டுஞ்சற் குருபர

பாடல் எண் 26 அவனி பெறுந்தோட்டம் எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் : தமிழ் போல் இனிய இளம் தென்றல் காற்றில் உலாவும் மன்மதனாம் லக்ஷ்மி மகனை, அன்று அற்புதமாக நெருப்பை எழுப்பி வென்ற சிவபிரானுக்கு பேரின்ப உண்மையாம் மங்களப் பொருளைக் காட்டிய சற்குருபரனே!

3) திருச்செந்தூர்

சிவனைநிகர் பொதியவரை முநிவனக மகிழைரு

   செவி குளிர இனியதமிழ்     பகர்வோனே

பாடல் எண் 28 : அறிவழிய மயல் பெருக எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் : சிவனுக்கு ஒப்பான பொதியமலையைச் சார்ந்த முனிவனான அகத்தியனின் உள்ளம் மகிழ அவனது இரண்டு செவிகளும் குளிர இனிய தமிழை ஓதியவனே!

4) திருச்செந்தூர்

தமிழ் விரக உயர் பரம சங்கரன் கும்பிடும் தம்பிரானே

பாடல் எண் 52 : கொடியனைய எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் : தமிழில் வல்லவனே! உயர்ந்த பரம் பொருளாகிய சங்கரன் வணங்கும் தம்பிரானே!

5) திருச்செந்தூர்

புகலரியதாம் த்ரி சங்கத்

   தமிழ் பனுவல் ஆய்ந்து கொஞ்சிப்

     புவியதனில் வாழ்ந்து வஞ்சித்து உழல் மூடர்

புனிதம் இலி  மாந்தர் தங்கள்

   புகழ் பகர்தல் நீங்கி நின் பொன்

       புளக மலர் பூண்டு வந்தித்   திடுவேனோ

பாடல் எண் 60 : தகர நறை பூண எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் :  சொல்வதற்கு அரியதாம் முச்சங்கத்து தமிழ் நூல்களை நன்கு ஆராய்ந்தும், இனிமையாகப் பேசியும், பூமியில் வாழ்ந்தும் பலரை வஞ்சித்துத் திரிகின்ற மூடர்களும் புனிதமில்லாத மக்களிடம் போய் அவர்களைப் புகழ்ந்து பேசுதலை விட்டு விட்டு உனது அழகிய இன்பம் தருகின்ற திருவடி மலர்களை மனதில் கொண்டு துதிக்க மாட்டேனோ?

6) திருச்செந்தூர்

தகைக்கும் தனி திகைக்கும் சிறு

   தமிழ்த் தென்றலி னுடனேநின்

றெரிக்கும் பிறையெனப் புண்படு

   மெனப் புன்கவி சிலபாடி

     இருக்கும் சிலர்

பாடல் எண் 64 : தரிக்குங்கலை எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் : தனிமையில் நின்று திகைக்கின்றேன். மெல்லிய இனிய தென்றல் காற்றுடன் வந்து சந்திரன் நின்று கொளுத்துகிறான் என்று மனம் புண்படுகின்றேன் என்றெல்லாம் புன்மையான கவிதைகள் சிலவற்றை மனிதர்கள் மீது பாடி சில புலவர்கள் வீணே இருக்கின்றனர்.

7) திருச்செந்தூர்

மழுக்கைக் கொண்ட சங் கரர்க்குச் சென்று வண்

  தமிழ் சொற் சந்தமொன்று அருள்வோனோ

பாடல் எண் 71 : நிதிக்குப் பிங்கலன் எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் :  மழுவைக் கையில் ஏந்தியவருமான சங்கரற்கு குருவாகச் சென்று வளமான தமிழ்ச் சொற்களால் வேதப் பொருளை ஓதியவனே!

8) திருச்செந்தூர்

துணைச் செம்பொற் பதத்து இன்புற்று

 எனக்கென்று அப் பொருள் தங்கத்

     தொடுக்கும் சொல் தமிழ் தந்து இப்படி ஆள்வாய்

பாடல் எண் 79 :பருத்தந்த எனத்  தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் :  உனது இரண்டு செம்பொன் பாதங்களில் இன்புறச் செய்து எனக்கு எப்போதும் அப்பெரும் பொருள் நிரம்பத் தங்கும்படியாகத் தொடுக்கப்படும் தமிழ்ச் சொற்களைத் தந்து இப்போதே ஆண்டு அருள்வாய்!

9) திருச்செந்தூர்

முந்து தமிழ் மாலை கோடிக் கோடி

   சந்தமொழு நீடு பாடிப் பாடி

     முஞ்சர் மனை வாசல் தேடித் தேடி உழலாதே

பாடல் எண் 91 : முந்து தமிழ் மாலை கோடிக் கோடி எனத்  தொடங்கும் பாடல்

 பொருள் :  மொழிகளில் முந்தியுள்ள தமிழ் மொழியில் பாமாலைகளை கோடிக் கோடிக் கணக்கில் சந்தப் பாக்களின் வகையில் நீண்டனவாகப் பாடிப் பாடி அழிகின்ற மக்களின் வீட்டு வாசல்கள் எங்கே உள்ளன என்று தேடித் தேடி அலையாமல்… 

10) திருச்செந்தூர்

வாய்ப்புற்ற தமிழ் மார்க்கத் திண் பொருள்

   வாய்க்குச் சித்திர முருகோனே

பாடல் எண் 93 : மூப்புற்றுச் செவி கேட்பற்று எனத் தொடங்கும் பாடல்

பொருள் :  வாய்ப்புள்ள தமிழின் அகத்துறையின் உறுதியான பொருளை உண்மை இதுவே என ருத்திரசன்மனாக வந்து அழகுறத் தெளிவாக்கிய முருகப் பெருமானே!

விளக்கம் : இந்தப் பாடல் விளக்கும் சம்பவம் இது:

மதுரையில் சொக்கநாதர் இயற்றிய இறையனார் அகப்பொருள் என்ற நூலுக்கு நக்கீரர் ஒரு உரையை எழுதினார். அந்த உரையே சிறந்த உரை என்று சங்கப் புலவர்களிடையே முருகனே ருத்திரசன்மனாக வந்து நிலை நாட்டினான்.

இதைத் திருவிளையாடல் புராணத்தில் விளக்கமாகக் காணலாம்.
