At a little stream on the Swiss frontier, a Swiss and a Nazi were fishing from the opposite sides of the water. Great success had attended the Swiss, and he had a handsome string to show for his efforts; whereas the Nazi had not had so much as a nibble.
“Why is it, called the German across the water, that you have so much better luck? Are we not using the same bait?”
“Well, said the Swiss, on this side the fish are not afraid to open their mouths.”

We are Free! We are Free!!
On August 1, 1836, the British Parliament abolished slavery in the West Indies, but the decree was not to go into effect for a year. On July 31, 1837, a year after, twenty thousand slaves came together in Jamaica. They put on white robes, and at eleven o clock at night they all knelt, and with faces turned upward they waited for an hour. As the clock struck twelve the twenty thousand former slaves rose up and shouted joyously.
“We are free! We are free!”

FREEDOM OF INDIA
Harold Laski (British political theorist and economist) has this story to tell:-
I discussed recently with a Hindu I knew – a man of great culture- the question of Indian Independence.
“If England were to withdraw from India,” I said, “wouldn’t the country relapse into a state of anarchy – much like what it was in the 18th century when Clive and Hastings laid the foundation of the British Raj?
My friend assented sadly, “Yes, I suppose you are right.”
“And that would be followed by a tyranny, or several tyrannies, would it not?”

“Yes, probably”.
And the pendulum would swing back to the anarchy again?”
“Yes”, he said, “yes, I am afraid it would!”, “but it will be our tyranny and our anarchy!’
