“The defects produced by the evil spirits vanish from that house, as soon as one brings, as soon as one praises, the healing Homa’s (Soma) evident wholesomeness,  and  in that village”.

“Soma grows when being praised. So the man who praises him becomes more triumphant”.

“Whatever man shall flatter Soma, as a young son, Soma comes to the aid of him and his children, to be their medicine.

Soma!  give me some of your healing powers whereby you are a physician. Homa (soma)!  give me some of your victorious powers whereby you are a victor”.

Parts 1,2,3 are posted in the past three days and this is the last part.

Martin Haug in his book ‘The Parsis’ (year 1878) concludes his chapter on Homa (Soma in Rig Veda) with these words:-

From the contents of this Homa/Soma Yasht one may clearly see that the Soma worship was not instituted by Zarathushtra (Zoroaster in Greek), but was known at a much earlier period. Zarathushtra is only said to have adopted it. But at the same time, he was fighting against the Vedic Soma worship and trying to overthrow it.

My comments

Zarathushtra deliberately used the Vedic words topsy turvy. He gave exactly opposite meaning to Deva and Devi, Indra etc. But Vedic cult was well established in Iran and Afghanistan, that he could not dislodge it. His policy was “Do it, but in different names”.

European scoundrels wanted to justify their occupation of USA, Canada, Australia and African countries and so invented ‘Eastward migration of Vedic Hindus’. But the matter in Zend Avesta proved the other way. No scholar could say that the Zend Avesta is older than Rig Veda; no scholar could say Avestan language is older than Sanskrit. Evn Max Muller sais that Vedic Hindus migrated to Iran and became Zoroastrians.

Zend Avesta was done in a mood of great hatred and anger. To my surprise there is no simile, where as Rig Veda is full of similes, puns, jokes and positive thoughts. In one Rig Vedic hymn itself, we see over 20 similes! Most of the similes are about family members, cows and horses. Love and affection are represented in those similes. Seeing the dryness in Zend Avesta, one may imagine it was artificial and not a natural flow. But the Avestan language with 8 case suffixes, singular, dual and plural brings it nearer to Vedic and classical Sanskrit. I would put it around 1000 BCE. To my surprise that all the people who studied Zoroastrianism and Avestan language were completely unaware of Panini’s Ashtaadhayayi!

We don’t even see a word for 1000 in Avestan language, but satam/100 is there. If we compare Vedic Sanskrit and Avestan, we see it is like a kind of Prakrit. Sahasram/1000 and bigger numbers are seen in the Vedas in countless mantras.

It is later than Sarasvati/ Indus civilization. Because we see no trace of such Harappan symbols in Iran or Zend Avesta. Swastika, Peepal leaves, Godly figures, Goddesses are absent in Iran and their old literature. Only one Vedic Goddess is seen in Zend. In Rig Veda, Aditi is raised to a high level as Mother of all Gods. Bharati, Ila and Sarasvati are repeated in all the Apri hymns in all the Mandalas (books)  of Rigveda.

Now let us continue with the Homa/Soma Yasht…………….

Yas.x.1

Let the water drops fall here for the destruction of the Devas and Devis. May the good Sraosha slay them! May Ashi Vanuhi (Spirit of Fortune) take up her abode here. May Ashi Vanuhi give happiness here, in this sacred abode of Homa/soma., the transmitter of righteousness.

I accompany your preparation, at the beginning each time, with words of praise, O Intelligent! When he (managing priest) takes your twigs. I accompany your preparation, in each successive act by which you are killed through the strength of a man, with words of praise, O Intelligent.

I praise the cloud and rain which make your body grow on the summit of the mountains. I praise the high mountains where you have grown S/Homa!

I praise the earth, the wide stretched, the passable, the large, the unbounded, your mother, O righteous Homa! I praise the earth that you may grow, spreading fast your fragrance, as you grow on the mountains, O H/Soma with good Mazdian growth; and that you may thrive on the path of birds (on high) and be, in fact, the source of righteousness.

(Yellow colour, Mountainous growth, giving life and vigour, health and wealth – all in the Rig Veda; but falcon or eagle bringing Soma is absent in Zend. Bhumi sukta of Atharvana Veda is echoed in the passage above)

Grow! Through my word, in all stems, in all branches and in all twigs.

(This makes very clear that Soma/Homa is not a mushroom as some idiots tried to prove. It is a tree or a climber says the Vedas; may be a climber on particular types of trees. Even today we see black pepper plants in Kerala and Karnataka as vines; in one mantra of Veda it is called a red tree; in another mantra 15 varieties of Soma are mentioned).

H/Soma grows when being praised. So the man who praises him becomes more triumphant. The least extract of its juice, the least praise, the least tasting of O H/Soma is sufficient for destroying a thousand of the Devas (demons in the Rig Veda).

(The belief that Soma grows when praised comes from the Rig Veda. In addition to reference to Soma in hundreds of Mantras in all Mandalas, we have entire Ninth Mandala/book in the Rig Veda, the oldest book in the world, for the praise of Soma!)

The defects produced by the evil spirits vanish from that house, as soon as one brings, as soon as one praises, the healing Homa’s (Soma) evident wholesomeness, healing power, and residence in that village.

For all other liquors are followed by evil effects, but this which is the liquor of Homa is followed by elevating righteousness.

(Rig Veda also condemns Sura Bana/liquor and says that soma gives healthy pure mind; Seventh century Tamil inscription says Mano suddha Soma Yaji- a scholar purified his mind by doing Soma Yaga)

Whatever man shall flatter S/Homa, as a young son, Soma comes to the aid of him and his children, to be their medicine.

H/Soma give me some of your healing powers whereby you are a physician. Homa (soma) give me some of your victorious powers whereby you are a victor.

(I have omitted some of the curses; It is almost similar to Vasishtha’s curses in the Rig Veda)
