TAMIL Impersonal Verbs are very useful and easy to use.
They are called impersonal verbs because there is no PGN (Person,, Gender, Number).
Generally used in present tense context.
Take the subject in the dative case

What is dative case?
It is To; in Tamil we call it Fourth Case நான்காம் வேற்றுமை
Examples :
To Rama, To James, To July, To Latha, To Samantha, To Mary, To David
You can form thousands of useful, every day sentences.

The often used impersonal Verbs are
புரியும் PURIYUM, UNDERSTAND
THERIYUM தெரியும், KNOW
KIDAIKKUM கிடைக்கும், AVAILABLE
POTHUM போதும்,ENOUGH
VILANGUM விளங்கும், UNDERSTAND

புரியும் PURIYUM, UNDERSTAND= VILANGUM விளங்கும், UNDERSTAND
Indian Tamils use Puriyum and Sri Lankan Tamils use Vilangum
Enakku thamiz Puriyum= to me Tamil understand= I understand Tamil
எனக்கு தமிழ் புரியும்

Avanukku hinthi Vilangum = To him Hindi understand= He understands Hindi
அவனுக்கு ஹிந்தி விளங்கும்

You can change them into interrogative / Questions – sentences by adding ஆ
AA in Tamil
புரியும்+ ஆ= புரியுமா = Does/ Do ——- understand?
விளங்கும் +ஆ = விளங்குமா Does/ Do ——- understand?
Examples
உங்களுக்கு ஆங்கிலம்/ தமிழ் புரியுமா ?= ungalukku Aangkilam/ Thamiz—puriyumaa? = To you English/ Tamil understand?= Do you understand English/ Tamil?

Negatiives
Negatives are formed by adding AATHU ஆது to infinitive
ஆது -aathu
Puriyaathu புரியாது,
Vilangaathu விளங்காது
புரிய+ ஆது – don’t or doesn’t understand
விளங்க+ ஆது –don’t or doesn’t understand
