Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world. It has 13,000 islands including large islands like Java, Sumatra and Borneo. Borobudur and Prambanan are famous for their Buddhist and Hindu sculpture. Borobudur Buddhist stupa was constructed in Sri Chakra shape. Though it is a Buddhist monument it has a lot of Mahabharata and Ramayana sculptures. I will publish them in batches—about 125 pictures.
The pictures are from 100 year old German book.
Hindus ruled South East Asia for 1500 years until 16th century; but in Indonesia influence of Sanskrit and Hindu epics can be seen even today. They have regular dramas and puppet shows on Hindu stories.
