Foreword
Scholars in India have been quoting Shakespeare in their speeches and writings for decades. They have compared the quotations from Shakespeare’s plays with sayings in Hindu scriptures. I collected all such comparisons and used them in my articles in my two blogs.
When I bought a Shakespeare Quotation book last year, I was able to do the comparison subject wise or topic wise. Tamil and Sanskrit poems and proverbs echo Shakesperean thoughts. It proves the saying that Great men think alike.
One does not need to copy another when it comes to universal truths. But certain beliefs like women are inferior or certain animals like dogs, donkeys and pigs are despicable reflect the age they lived in. It helps the researchers to do sociological studies. So far, I have compared only some topics. There are lot more comparisons which will come in the second part of the book. Readers are welcome to come with more comparisons and similarities.
