KALAIMAMANI V JEEVA ANANTHAN, COIMBATURE.

V Jeeva nantha, the elder son of N.Velayutham, a famous artist and the proprietor of Cine Arts established in 1954.

Education:

Government Arts College, Coimbatore   -Degree in Political Science

Presidency College, Chennai  – Postgraduation in Political Science

President – CHITHRAKALA ACADEMY, An association of Artists, Coimbatore.

Been exhibiting his paintings since 1979 in all Chithrakala Academy Annual Art Exhibitions at Coimbatore, Chennai and Bangalore.

Collections all over the world and at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai.

Selected as one of the 133 painters all over India to paint KuraLoviyams exhibited since 2000, with the unweiling of Valluvar Statue at Kanyakumari.

Been a Cinema Banner Artist and painted thousands of giant banners, now an extinct art.

During 1980s wrote cinema reviews in  the famous magazine ‘Kalki’ as a student writer.

A student Artist in ‘Dhisaigal’ a youth magazine edited by ‘Maalan’ during 80s.

Illustrator in literary magazines and Cover designer for novels .

Nominated as one of theWorld’s best 100 caricaturists by Romanian Cartoonists Association- 2007 and again in 2011 . In 2016 awarded as the second best caricaturist in the world by them too.

Author of ‘Thiraiseelai’, a collection of Essays on world cinema, ‘Oru Beediyundo Sakhave’ another collection of cinema essays , ‘Neengal eppadi oviyar aaneergal’ a collection of interviews with 17 eminent artists and ‘Maayamaan ulavum Vanam’ a collection of essays on Cinema.

His Book ‘Thiraicheelai’ has won the Special mention award  in the ‘Best Book on Cinema’ category in the National film Awards 2011, and  after 29 years a Book in Thamizh has won this award.

Received the Award from the hands of the President at New Delhi on 9-9-2011.

‘Oru Beediyundo Sakhave’ bagged the best ‘katturai thoguppu’ award from Vasagasalai, Chennai.

Kalaimamani Award now announced by the govt of TamilNadu for the year 2021

கோவை சித்ர கலா அகாடமியின் தலைவர் , புகழ்மிகு ஓவியர் என் .வேலாயுதம்  அவர்களின் புதல்வர், பல நகரங்களில் ஓவியக் கண் காட்சி நடத்தி வருபவர் , வள்ளுவர் கோட்டம் முதலிய இடங்களில் அவரது குறள் ஓவியங்களைக் காணலாம் ; நான்கு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் தமிழக அரசின் கலை மாமணி விருது பெற்றவர்  ; திரைச் சீலை என்ற நூலின் ஆசிரியர்; எண்ணற்ற பத்திரிகைகளு ஓவியம், கார்ட்டூன், படங்களை வரைந்து கொடுத்து உதவி வருகிறார் ; அரசியலில் முதுகலைப் பட்டம் பெற்றவர். உலகின் தலை சிறந்த நூறு ஓவியர்களின் பட்டியலில் இடம்பெற்றவர்.
