It was claimed that the psychic quizzed the Duke over the breaking of a Christmas ornament, who admitted his son was attempting to fix it.

வியாஸ சுபாஷித சங்க்ரஹா என்ற இந்த சம்ஸ்கிருத சுபாஷிதத் தொகுப்பு நூல் ஒரு அரிய நூல். இது வியாஸ சதகம் என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறது.
இதை இயற்றியவர் சூரிய கலிங்கராஜா என்று சில அறிஞர்கள் கூற, சிலர் அதை மறுக்கின்றனர்.
இப்போதுள்ள ஓலைச் சுவடி வடிவில் இது பதினான்காம் நூற்றாண்டின் முற்பகுதியில் காணப்படுகிறது.
இந்தச் சுவடி 99 செய்யுள்களைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. ஶ்ரீ வியாஸ சதகம் ஶ்ரீ துர்காயை நமஹ என்று நூல் ஆரம்பிக்கிறது. சதகம் என்றால் நூறு என்று பொருள். கீழ்க்குறிப்புகளில் உள்ள ஸ்லோகங்களையும் சேர்த்துப் பார்த்தால் இதில் 110 செய்யுள்கள் உள்ளன.
வியாஸர் கூறுவதாக அமைந்துள்ள இந்த ஸ்லோகங்கள் மஹாபாரதத்திலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளவை என்று சம்ஸ்கிருத அறிஞர் V.ராகவன் கூறுகிறார்.
வாழ்வின் பல்வேறு அம்சங்களைப் பற்றி இதில் வியாஸர் கூறுகிறார்.
எல்லா ஸ்லோகங்களும் அனுஷ்டுப் சந்தத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளவை.
ஏராளமான சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியங்களில் இந்த ஸ்லோகங்கள் எடுத்தாளப்பட்டுள்ளன.
பாரதம் முழுவதும் உள்ள அறிஞர்கள் மட்டுமின்றி இது ஶ்ரீலங்காவில் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற நூலாக இது இருந்துள்ளது. அத்தோடு திபத், மங்கோலியா, பர்மா, சயாம், லாவோஸ், சம்பா, ஜியங்மை, பழைய ஜாவா ஆகிய நாடுகளிலும் இது பிரபலமாக இருந்திருக்கிறது.

பொருள் : கேதகி மலரை நோக்கி வண்டானது அதன் முட்கள் அதைக் குத்தி வருத்தினாலும் கூட உல்லாசமாக அதனிடம் செல்கிறது.
நல்ல குணங்களை நாடும் ஒரு மனதிற்கு தோஷங்கள் என்ன தான் செய்ய முடியும்?
குஸுமஸ்தபகஸ்யேவ த்வயி வ்ருத்திர்மனஸ்வின: |

Bisnu, great in supernatural power, great in glory, possessing the five transcendental faculties, together with my son Gavampati and King Indra and BIssukarmadevapat and Katakarma naagaraaja, shall build a city called Sisit= Sri Kshetra .
After Bisnu’s departure, in the city of Animaddanapura = Pagan , he shall become king Sri Tribhuvanaaditya .
Here Bisnu is shown as a Rishi.
About this Tribhuvanaaditya , three inscriptions in Myakan and other places talk about his birth. He is shown as a king in the family of Rama of Ayodhya .
The inscription found near the Tharabha gate in Pagan give details about Brahmanas’ preparation in connection with king Kyansziththa’s (GNANA SIDDHA) royal anointment. Brahmins brought holy water in gold, silver and bronze vessels and the king came after worshipping Narayana.
Naat -hlaung – Kyaung temple had ten avatars of Vishnu.
Several Vishnu images were unearthed at Hmawza , known as old Prome. Three of them have three different forms of Vishnu and they are displayed in phongyi kyaung museum in hmwaza. Garuda, Lakshmi, Sanga, Chakra and Sesha are seen in those images.
Two similar sculptures are known from Thaton. There are two other figures of Vishnu in Rangoon Museum.

Mon. Duroiselle has pointed out, an inscription was discovered recording the erection of a Vishnu temple at Pagan
Following names are in the inscription ,
Vaishnava saint Irayiran Siriyan, resident of Magodayar pattanam in Mali Mandalam and a disciple of Kulasekhara , made a “Mandpa, give a door” in the temple of Naanaadesi Vinnagara Alvar at Pukam,
Alias Arivattanapuram.
Scholars identified them as follows
Magodayaarpattanam in Mali Mandalam = Cranganore in Malabar,
Pukaam = Pugama of Kalyani inscriptions
Arivattanapuram = Arimaddana puram = Pagan
Nanadesi Vinnagaram = Vishnu temple of those coming from many countries.
Now Naat Hlaung Kyaung is the only Vaishnava temple still extant at Pagaan .
Mon Duroisell identified this with the Tamil Nanadesi Vinnagaram . This may belong to 11th or 13th century. Brahmins’ prominent role is detailed in one of the inscriptions. In the ten niches of the temple, Garuda Varaha Avatara, Narasimha Avatara, Rama, Parasurama are identified. Two defaced images may be of Vamana and Kalki. Three niches are empty.
Besides the Vishnu images of the Naat-Hlaung Kyaung temple, a bronze Vishnu image , one foot high, was discovered at Pagaan and is housed in Pagan museum. It looks similar to Bhogasthanaka Murti of Vishnu, exactly similar to, a bronze image in Madras Museum.

Surya- Sun God in Burma/Myanmar
One Surya image was discovered on a hill known as Shin- nge-det-taung in Arkan area. And in Naat- hlaung- Kyaung temple, one image in one of the niches is also identified as Surya. This one is of South Indian type.

57.மடிக்கரே ஓம்காரேஸ்வர் கோவில், அவனி ராம லிங்கேஸ்வர் கோவில் Avani Ramalingeshwara temple
சிவபெருமானுக்கு சுமார் 200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் எழுந்த தற்காலக் கோவில் மடிக்கரே ஓம்காரேஸ்வர் கோவில். குடகு பகுதியில் காவிரி நதியை ஒட்டி பல கோவில்கள் இருக்கின்றன . அவைகளில் மடிக்கரே யிலிருந்து 15 கி.மீ . தொலைவில் இருக்கும் அவனி ராம லிங்கேஸ்வர் கோவில் சிவன் கோவில் ஆயிரம் ஆண்டு வரலாறு உடையது கோலார் தங்கச் சுரங்கத்திலிருந்து 32 கிமீ.
ராமர் வழிபட்ட இடம் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. இங்குள்ள கோவில்களில் ராம, லட்சுமண, பரத , சத்ருக்குனருக்கு தனித்தனி சந்நிதிகள் இருக்கின்றன . அத்தோடு சீதை, வாலி, சிவன் ஆகிய மூர்த்திகளும் உண்டு .

அப் ஸாலா பாத் Afzalabad என்று பெயரையும் மாற்றினான் . தொ ட்ட வீர ராஜேந்திர என்ற இந்து வீரன் இந்த இடத்தை மீட்டு பாக மண்டலம் ஆக்கினான் ; குடகு ராஜ்யத்துடன் இணைத்தான்.
பாடி , ஐயங்கேரி என்னும் அருகாமை இடங்களில் கிராம மக்கள் வழிபடும் தெய்வங்களும் இருக்கின்றன.

அந்த விவசாயின் பரம்பரையில் தான் வந்ததால் தனக்கே சந்திரன் சொந்தம் என்று சந்திர சாஸனத்தைக் காட்டினார் அந்த விவசாயி.
பெண்மணிகள் விரும்பும் சந்திரன்!
வீராங்கனை கல்பனா சாவ்லாவை அறியாதவர் இருக்க முடியாது. அடுத்து இந்திய வமிசாவளியினரான சுனிதா வில்லியம்ஸும் விண்வெளி வீராங்கனை தான். இன்னும் விண்வெளிப் பயணம் மேற்கொண்ட ஏராளமான வீராங்கனைகள் உண்டு.

“South Indian caste from Chettinad whose main occupation is commerce and moneylending. The Chettiyars migrated in large numbers to colonial Myanmar after 1880, playing a major role in transforming the peasant subsistence economy and connecting it with the export producing sector. By providing mortgage loans to Myanmar peasants, at 12 p2cent a month interest, they came to possess, through foreclosures, about 25 percent of the agricultural land in 13 main rice growing of southern Myanmar by 1936. The Chettiyar was seen by the Myanmar farmer as his main enemy. Indebtedness due to Chettiyar moneylenders was one of the causes of peasant unrest and of the Saya San Rebellion in 1930. The Chettiyars were also engaged in extending credits to traders and urban land owners. Shortly before the Japanese occupation of Myanmar (1942-1945), total Chettiyar investment in Myanmar was estimated as 56 million pounds sterling, the largest foreign investment in the country. From 1942 to 1945 most Chettiyar residents in Myanmar left for India. After the war they attempted aa comeback, but without much success”.

Indians in Burma
“The Indians along with the Chinese are the largest non indigenous ethnic group in Myanmar, though now Chinese are probably more numerous than Indian residents whose numbers have been reduced to some 100,000 in recent decades. The Indian population of Myanmar consists largely descendants of the migrants who came to the country especially from southern India and Bengal. , during the British colonial era in the early 20th century. While not all of the Indian immigrants chose to live in the country for good, by the 1930s about one million Indians resided in Myanmar, forming about half of the population of Yangon. Educated and rice Indians occupied the middle levels of business and administration with the Chettiyars playing a prominent role as money lenders and absentee land lords. Poor Indians came and worked as seasonal agricultural workers and contract labourers. The Indian community was distinct from the Bamar majority and was not easily integrated into Myanmar society. There was resentment against Chettiyars and also against the largely unrestricted influx of Indian labour, which combined with a different culture and religion, aroused feelings which were manifested I two anti Indian riots in 1930 and 1938. On the other hand Myanmar nationalists drew inspiration from the Indian National Congress.
In 1942, at the beginning of Japanese occupation, half of the Indian population left the country for India. And several hundred thousands died on the trek.
After 1945, many Indians came back to Myanmar, but since Myanmar’s independence in 1948, there have been rigid restrictions on the number permitted to enter Myanmar. The Indians were gradually excluded from public services, dispossessed of their lands and discriminated against in commerce and trade.
Indian interests were particularly affected by the nationalization of Myanmar economy during the Burma Socialist programme Party era in the 1960s.
The present Indian community is made up of poorer classes who earn their living in menial jobs. A majority of the Indians born in Burma are Muslims and the minority are Hindus “.
