(1835 – 1910)
மார்க் ட்வெய்ன் என்று பலராலும் அறியப்பட்ட அமெரிக்கா நாவலாசிரியரின் இயற்பெயர் சாம்வெல் க்ளெமென்ஸ் (SAMUEL LANGHORNE CLEMENS) மார்க் ட்வெய்ன் பயணக் கட்டுரைகளையும் எழுதினார். பெரிய நகைச்சுவை எழுத்தாளர்.
அமெரிக்காவில் மிஸ்ஸௌரி என்னும் இடத்தில் பிறந்தார். அவர் பிறந்தபோது ஹாலியின் வால் நட்சத்திரம் தோன்றியது. அடுத்தாற்போல ஹாலியின்(Halley’s Comet) வால் நட்சத்திரம் வருகையில் இறந்தும் விடுவோம் என்று அவருக்கு உள்ளுணர்வு உணர்த்தியது. அதுபோலவே 1835-இல் தோன்றிய வால்நட்சத்திரம் 1910-இல் —– திரும்பி வந்தபோது அவர் இறந்தார்.
ட்வெய்னுக்கு 12 வயதானபோது தந்தையை இழந்தார். உடனே வேலைக்கும் சென்றார். அச்சகம் ஒன்றில் ஒரு அச்சு இயந்திர ஊழியராக சேர்ந்தார். அதே நேரத்தில் கதைகளையும் கட்டுரைகளையும் எழுதத் தொடங்கினார், பின்னர் அச்சகப் பணியை விட்டு மிஸிஸிபி நதியில் படகில் வேலைப் பார்க்கத் தொடங்கினார்.
அமெரிக்க உள்நாட்டுப்போர் ஏற்பட்டபோது இணைப்பாளர் அணியில் சேர்ந்து போராடினார். இரண்டே வாரங்களில் மீண்டும் பத்திரிகை துறைக்குத் திரும்பினார். அப்போதுதான் மார்க் ட்வைன் என்ற புனைப்பெயரில் எழுதத்தொடங்கினார். படகோட்டிகளின் (பேச்சு வழக்கில்) கொச்சை மொழியில் இதற்கு 2 ஆள் ஆழம் என்று பெயர்.
1865ஆம் ஆண்டில் அவர் உலகப்பயணம் மேற்கொண்டார். பயணக் கட்டுரை எழுதுவதே இதன் குறிக்கோள். ஆனால் அவர் மத்தியதரைக் கடல் வட்டாரத்திற்குச் சென்று THE INNOCENTS ABROAD என்ற நூலை எழுதினார். இது வெற்றிபெறவே நியூயார்க் நகருக்குத் திரும்பி வந்து பணக்காரப் பெண்ணை கல்யாணம் கட்டினார் . திருமணத்திற்குப் பின்னர் TOM SAWYER, HUCKLEBERRY FINN, A YANKEE AT THE COURT OF KING ARTHUR ஆகிய நாவல்களை எழுதினார்.
டாம் சாயர், ஹக்ல்பெர்ரி ஃபின் ஆகியோரின் வாழ்வில் மிஸிஸிபி ஆறு ஒரு பெரிய சக்தியாக விளங்கியது.
மார்க் ட்வெய்ன் பிறந்த ஹானிபல் என்ற ஊரில் டாம் சாயரின் நினைவாக ஆண்டுதோறும் வெள்ளையடிக்கும் போட்டி நடத்தப்படுகிறது. இதில் மிஸிஸிபி மாணவர்கள் பங்கு பெறுவது வழக்கம்.
பணக்காரராக மாறிய மார்க் ட்வெய்னுக்கு திடீரென்று தாழ்வு ஏற்பட்டது. கடன்காரராக மாறினார். கடனைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுப்பதற்காக உலகச் சுற்றுப் பயணம் மேற்கொண்டார். ஆனால் நாடு திரும்பியவுடன் மேலும் ஒரு துயரம் நேரிட்டது. மனைவியும் மூன்று புதல்விகளில் இருவரும் இறந்தனர்.
ட்வெய்ன் அவர்கள் கருதியதைப்போலவே ஹாலியின் வால்நட்சத்திரம் தோன்றியபோது இறந்தார்.

ஆலயம் அறிவோம்! வழங்குவது பிரஹன்நாயகி சத்யநாராயணன்.
ஆலயம் அறிவோம் தொடரில் இன்று நமது யாத்திரையில் இடம் பெறுவது 108 வைணவ திவ்ய க்ஷேத்திரங்களுள் ஒன்றான திருவனந்தபுரம் தலமாகும். இது கேரள மாநிலத்தின் தலை நகரமாகும். இங்கு மஹாவிஷ்ணு, ஐந்து தலை நாகத்தின்மேல் அனந்த சயன கோலத்தில் இருந்து அருள் பாலித்து வருகிறார். பெருமளின் திருநாமம் அனந்த பத்மநாபர். அனந்த எனில் என்றுமுள கடவுள். பத்ம என்றால் தாமரை. நாபி என்றாள் தொப்புள் என்று பொருள். தாயார் ஸ்ரீ ஹரிலக்ஷ்மி; தீர்த்தம் மத்ஸ்ய, பத்மா, வராஹ தீர்த்தம். விமானம் ஹேமகூட விமானம். விஷ்ணுவின் நாபியிலிருந்து பூக்கும் தாமரையின் மீது பிரம்மா அமர்ந்திருக்கும் காட்சியை இங்கு காணலாம்.
இந்தக் கோவிலின் சிறப்பு அம்சம் அனந்தபத்மநாபர் சயன கோலத்தில் இருந்தாலும் அவரது நின்ற கோலம், இருந்த கோலம், சயன கோலம் ஆகிய மூன்று நிலைகளையும் மூன்று வாயில்கள் வழியே பார்ப்பது பிரமிப்பைத் தரும் தரிசனமாக அமைகிறது. மிகப் பழைய புராண வரலாற்றைக் கொண்ட, இந்த திவ்ய க்ஷேத்திரம் பரசுராமரின் ஏழு க்ஷேத்திரங்களுள் ஒன்றாகும். இங்கு ஏராளமான முனிவர்கள் தவமியற்றி உள்ளனர். திவாகர முனிவர் தனக்குக் கிடைத்த பழுக்காத மாங்காயையும் தேங்காயையும் இறைவனுக்கு அர்ப்பணித்தார். அதை நினைவு கூரும் வண்ணம் பத்மநாபருக்கு தங்கத்தால் ஆன ஒரு தேங்காய் சிரட்டையில் மாங்காய் ஊறுகாய் வைத்து படைக்கப்படுவது மரபாகி இன்றும் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்படுகிறது.
1750 ஆண்டில் திருவனந்தபுரத்தை ஆண்ட ராஜமார்த்தாண்ட வர்மா தனது ராஜ்யம், செல்வம் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்தையும் இறைவனுக்கு அர்ப்பணித்து தானப் பட்டயம் கொடுத்து தன் உடைவாளையும் இறைவன் முன் வைத்து பத்மநாப தாஸர் ஆனார். பெருமாளிடம் தரப்பட்ட செங்கோலை வைத்து மன்னர்கள் அரசாள ஆரம்பித்தனர். இந்தக் கோவில் உலகின் தலையாய செல்வச் செழிப்புள்ள கோவில்களுள் தலைமை இடம் பெறும் கோவிலாகும். இங்குள்ள மூலவர் தங்கத்தால் ஆனவர். முகலாயர் படை எடுப்பின் போது ஆலயத்தைக் காப்பாற்ற யாருமே அறிய முடியாத, கடு சர்க்கரா என்ற விசேஷமான முறையினால் ஆன ஒரு வெளிப்பூச்சு விக்ரஹத்தின் மீது பூசப்பட, உள்ளிருக்கும் தங்கம் தெரியாமல் இந்தப் பூச்சு மறைத்தது. இந்த விக்ரஹம் 12008 சாலகிராமங்களால் ஆனது என்று கூறப்படுகிறது.
கோவிலில் ஆறு ரகசிய அறைகள் பல காலமாகத் திறக்கப்படாமல் இருந்தன. 2011ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்த அறைகளில் சில திறக்கப்பட்டன. தங்கம், வைர ஆபரணங்கள் கணக்கற்ற அளவில் இங்கு ஜொலி ஜொலித்தன. தங்கக் குடம், தங்க எழுத்தாணி, இரண்டு அடி நீளமுள்ள தங்கத்தினால் ஆன ஹாரம் என எண்ணற்ற ஆபரணங்கள் வெளிப்படவே உலகமே பிரமிப்படைந்தது. அறைகள் யாராலும் திறக்கப்படக் கூடாது என்பதாலும் இவற்றை நாகங்கள் பாதுகாத்து வருகின்றன என்று சொல்லப்படுவதாலும் பக்தர்கள் இதைத் திறந்து பார்ப்பதை விரும்பவில்லை என்ற நிலையில் ஆறு அறைகளைத் தவிர மேலும் இரு அறைகள் இருப்பது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. இந்தக் கோவிலில் இருக்கும் செல்வ வளத்தின் மிக மிகக் குறைந்த பட்ச மதிப்பு சுமார் ஒரு லட்சம் கோடிக்கும் மேல் இருக்கும் என மதிக்கப்படுகிறது.
கோவிலின் கர்பக்ருஹம் ஒரே கல்லால் செதுக்கப்பட்ட ஒன்றாகும். 100 அடி உயரத்துடன் ஏழு வரிசைகள் கொண்ட கோபுரத்தைக் கொண்ட இந்தக் கோவிலில் சம்பிரதாயமான விதி முறைகள் இன்றளவும் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. ஆண்கள் வேஷ்டி அணிந்து மேலாடை எதுவுமின்றியும் பெண்கள் நவீன ஆடைகளின்றி பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி புடவை உடுத்தி உள்ளே சென்று வழிபட வேண்டும் என்பதும் விதிக்கப்பட்டு கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. கோவிலைச் சுற்றி நான்கு புறமும் உள்ள பிரகாரமும், அதில் வரிசையாக அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள 366 தூண்களும், ஒவ்வொரு தூணுக்கும் ஒரு விளக்கேந்திய பாவை அமைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதும் காணக் கண் கொள்ளாக் காட்சிகளாகும். கோவிலில் உள்ள மண்டபத்தில் சப்த ஸ்வரங்களை எழுப்பும் இசைத் தூண்களும் உள்ளன.
கோவிலின் தென்புற பிரகாரத்தில் யோக நரசிம்மரும், சந்நிதிக்கு முன்னால் ஹனுமாரும் சந்நிதிக்குப் பின்னால் கிருஷ்ணரும் தெய்வீகக் காட்சி அளிக்கின்றனர். இங்கு ஹனுமானின் மீது சாத்தப்படும் வெண்ணெய் வெயில் காலமானாலும் கூட எத்தனை நாட்களானாலும் கூட உருகுவதில்லை என்பது ஒரு பெரிய அதிசயமாகும். லக்ஷ்மி வராகர் கோவில் மற்றும் ஸ்ரீநிவாஸர் கோவில் தெற்குப் பக்கத்தில் உள்ளன. ஆலயத்தில் உள்ள அழகிய சிற்பங்கள் காலத்தை வெல்லும் கருவூலமாகும்.
சிலப்பதிகாரம் திருவனந்தபுரத்தை ஆடகமாடம் என்று கூறிச் சிறப்பிக்கிறது. சேரமன்னன் செங்குட்டுவன் வடபுலத்தின் மீது படை எடுத்துச் செல்லும் முன்னர் அனந்தபத்மநாபர் அணிந்த மாலையை வாங்கிச் சூடிக் கொண்டு சென்றான் என்பது சிலப்பதிகாரம் தரும் செய்தி.
கோவிலில் ஏராளமான விழாக்கள் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றன. நவராத்திரி விழா குறிப்பிடத் தகுந்த ஒன்றாக விளங்குகிறது. இதையொட்டி சுவாதி இசை விழாவும் நடை பெறும். அடுத்து, ஆறு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை நடைபெறும் லக்ஷ தீபத் திருவிழாவில் ஒரு லக்ஷம் விளக்குகள் இங்கு ஏற்றப்படுவது உலகில் வேறெங்கும் காண முடியாத ஒரு அற்புதக் காட்சியைத் தரும் திருவிழாவாக அமைகிறது. இந்தத் தலத்தில் பெருமாளை தரிசித்து நம்மாழ்வார் மங்களாசாஸனப் பாசுரங்கள் அருளியுள்ளார்.
காலம் காலமாக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்பாலித்து வரும் அனந்த பத்மநாபர் அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.

சூத முனிவர் சௌனகாதி முனிவர்களுக்குக் கூறியது:
கருடன் பக்தவஸ்தலப் பெருமாளை நோக்கிப் பத தானம் பற்றிக் கேட்க அவர் கூறியதாவது:
“கருடா! குடை, மாரடி, தண்டம், வஸ்திரம், மோதிரம், உதக கும்பம், ஆசனப் பலகை, அன்னம், பூஜாதிரவியம், பூணூல், தாமிரச் செம்பு, அரிசி ஆகியவற்றை சத் பிராமணருக்குத் தானமாகக் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.
குடை தானம் செய்தால் ஜீவன் யமபுரிக்குப் போகும் போது குளிர்ந்த நிழலுள்ள மார்க்கமாக கிங்கரர்களால் அழைத்துச் செல்லப்படுவான். மாரடி தானம் செய்தால் குதிரை மேல் செல்வான். இந்த தானங்களால் யமதூதர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்து ஜீவனை வருத்தாமல் ஆதரவோடு அழைத்துச் செல்வர்.

கோவில்களில் அனைத்து ஜாதியினரும் அர்ச்சகர் ஆகலாம் – அமைச்சர் சேகர்பாபு
அனைத்து கோவில்களிலும் தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை நடைபெறும் என்று இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சர் சேகர் பாபு தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறையின் அலுவலர் ஆய்வுக் கூட்டம் அமைச்சர் சேகர் பாபு தலைமையில் ஜூன்12 ம் தேதி நடைபெற்றது. இதில் அனைத்து சாதியினரும் அர்ச்சகர் ஆகும் திட்டத்தைச் செயல்படுத்துவது, தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்வது, தொடர்பாக ஆலோசிக்கப்பட்டது.
ஆலோசனை கூட்டம் முடிந்து செய்தியாளர்களை சந்தித்த அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சர் சேகர் பாபு, அறநிலையத்துறை கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள அனைத்து கோவில்களிலும் தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை நடைபெறும். தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்வதற்கு பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்படும். முக்கிய கோவில்களில் தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்யப்படும் என்ற பலகை வைக்கப்படும். தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்யும் அர்ச்சகர் பெயர் , செல்போன் எண் அறிவிப்பு பலகையில் இடம் பெறும்.
மேலும் அவர் கூறுகையில், மதம் சார்ந்த விஷயங்களில் யாருடைய மனமும் புண்படக் கூடாது என்று முதல்-அமைச்சர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் தெரிவித்துள்ள நிலையில், திருச்சி ஜீயர் நியமனத்திலும் தொடர்ந்து எந்த நடைமுறை கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வந்ததோ, அதே நடைமுறையை பின்பற்றப்படும் என்றும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
100 நாட்களில் அனைத்து சாதியினரும் அர்ச்சகர்களாக இருப்பார்கள். பெண்களும் அர்ச்சகர்களாக விருப்பப்பட்டால், தமிழக அரசின் உதவி மூலம் முறையான பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டு அர்ச்சகர்களாக நியமிக்கப்படுவார்கள். கோயில் நிலங்களை ஆக்கிரமித்தவர்கள் மீது குற்றவியல் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும். தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள 30 கோயில் யானைகளுக்கும் மருத்துவ பரிசோதனை செய்யப்பட உள்ளது என்றார்.

கோயில்களை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும்.. கோயில் நகைகள், சிலைகள் பற்றியும் ஐகோர்ட் உத்தரவு
மாநிலத்திலுள்ள வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த தொன்மையான, புராதன கோவில்களைப் பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் மத்திய சிலை கடத்தல் பிரிவை அமைக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகள் தமிழ அரசுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டனர்.
தமிழகம் முழுவதும் உள்ள தொன்மையான கோவில்களைப் பாதுகாப்பது தொடர்பாக, கடந்த 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தாமாக முன்வந்து வழக்கை விசாரணைக்கு எடுத்துக் கொண்டது.
தமிழகத்தில் இந்து சமய அறநிலையத் துறை கட்டுப்பாட்டில் 44 ஆயிரத்து 121 கோவில்கள் உள்ளன.
மேலும், மாநிலத்திலுள்ள 44 ஆயிரம் கோவில்களில் 32 ஆயிரத்து 935 கோவில்கள் நல்ல நிலையில் இருப்பதாகவும், 6,414 கோவில்கள் சிறிய சீரமைப்புப் பணிகள் செய்ய வேண்டிய நிலையில் இருப்பதாகவும், 530 கோவில்கள் பாதி சிதிலமடைந்துள்ளதாகவும், 716 கோவில்கள் முழுமையாகச் சிதிலமடைந்துள்ளதாகவும் அறநிலையத் துறை தரப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. பாதி சிதிலமடைந்த, முழுமையாகச் சிதிலமடைந்த இந்த கோவில்களை யுனெஸ்கோ விதிகளின்படி சீரமைக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் அறநிலையத் துறை தரப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிபதிகள் ஆர்.மகாதேவன் மற்றும் பி.டி.ஆதிகேசவலு அடங்கிய அமர்வு இன்று முக்கிய தீர்ப்பை வழங்கியது. அதில், வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த தொன்மையான, புராதன கோவில்களைப் பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும் என உத்தரவிட்டனர். தமிழகம் முழுவதும் உள்ள கோவில்களின் பட்டியலைத் தயாரித்து, கோவில் நிலங்களை ஆக்கிரமிப்பிலிருந்து மீட்க வேண்டும். நிலங்களை வாடகைக்கு எடுத்தவர்களிடம் இருந்து பெற வேண்டிய வாடகை பாக்கியை வசூலிக்க வேண்டும் என உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர்.
கோவில்களில் உள்ள சிலைகள், நகைகள் உள்ளிட்டவற்றைப் பட்டியலாகத் தயாரிக்க வேண்டும்; கோவில்களில் ஸ்ட்ராங்க் ரூம் அமைத்து, இந்த சிலைகளைப் பாதுகாக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்; அனைத்து மாவட்டங்களுக்கும் தகுதியான ஸ்தபதிகளை நியமிக்க வேண்டும் எனவும் உத்தரவில் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளனர். ஓதுவார்கள், அர்ச்சகர்களை நியமிக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவும், சீரமைப்புப் பணிகளை மேற்கொள்வது தொடர்பாக மாநில, மாவட்ட அளவில் குழுக்கள் அமைக்க வேண்டும் எனத் தமிழக அரசுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர்.
சிலைகள், நகைகளைப் புகைப்படம் எடுத்து அவற்றை இணைய தளங்களில் வெளியிட வேண்டுமென உத்தரவிட்ட நீதிபதிகள், ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் உள்ள நிலங்களை மீட்பதுடன், கோவிலுக்குச் சொந்தமான நிலங்களுக்கான வாடகையை நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும் எனவும் அறநிலையத்துறைக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர். அறங்காவலர்களை நியமித்து அவர்களுக்கு ஊதியம் நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், பரம்பரை அறங்காவலர்களை அடையாளம் காண வேண்டும் எனவும் அறிவுறுத்தி உள்ளனர்.
கோவில்கள் பாதுகாப்பு தொடர்பான விதிகளை உடனடியாக வகுத்து வெளியிட வேண்டும் என உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளதுடன்,கோவில் நிலங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட விவரங்கள் தொடர்பாக விசாரணை நடத்துவதற்குத் தனி தீர்ப்பாயம் அமைக்கவும் அரசுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர். கோவில்களின் கணக்கு வழக்குகளை மத்திய கணக்குத் தணிக்கை துறை தணிக்கைக்கு உட்படுத்த வேண்டும் எனவும் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர்.
மத்திய சிலை கடத்தல் தடுப்புப் பிரிவை அமைக்க வேண்டும் எனவும், கோவில்களுக்குச் சொந்தமான நீர்நிலைகளையும் பாதுகாக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டுமென உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளனர். கோவில் நிலங்கள், சொத்துக்களைத் திருடியவர்கள், சேதப்படுத்தியவர்களுக்கு எதிராக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவேண்டும் என்பன உள்ளிட்ட பல உத்தரவுகளைப் பிறப்பித்துள்ளனர். இந்த உத்தரவுகளை 12 வாரங்களில் அமல்படுத்த வேண்டும் எனவும், அது குறித்த அறிக்கையைத் தாக்கல் செய்ய வேண்டும் எனவும் அரசுக்கு நீதிபதிகள் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளன

இது குறித்து, அவர் கூறியதாவது:வடபழநி ஆண்டவர் கோவிலுக்குச் சொந்தமான, 300 ரூபாய் கோடி மதிப்பி லான, 5.52 ஏக்கர் நிலத்தை, அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சரும், கமிஷனரும் தனிக்கவனம் செலுத்தி மீட்டது, மகிழ்ச்சி அளிக்கும் செயல். ‘கோவில் நிலங்களை யார் ஆக்கிரமித்திருந்தாலும், அவை மீட்கப்பட்டு, கோவில் வசம் ஒப்படைக்கப்படும்’ என, அமைச்சர் கூறியுள்ளார். அதையும் வரவேற்கிறோம்.அதேசமயம், அறநிலையத்துறை அமைச்சர், கமிஷனருக்கு சில விஷயங்களை கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டு வருகிறோம்.

Tamil Nadu likely to allow women priests in temples soon
The Minister for the HR and CE temples (managed by the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments department) PK Sekar Babu on Saturday hinted that women who wish to take up the job of a temple priest, would be given training for that.
The Minister said in response to a woman reporter after holding detailed discussions with senior officials of the HR and CE department from across the State.
Sekar Babu had earlier said that the ‘all-caste archaka’ scheme would soon be implemented in HR and CE temples in the state.
Asked whether the government would accept women coming forward to work as priests, the Minister said, “If women wish to work as priests, training will be provided to them and steps will be taken to appoint them as priests. This will be done after getting the approval of the Chief Minister.”
There has been a long-drawn debate on female priests in Hindu temples. Social reformers have been advocating it to establish gender equality in the job of priests too.
Minutes after the remarks of the Minister, there were criticisms against this move in social media. In the coming days, this topic is likely to become a point of debate.
On Tamil archana in temples, the Minister said “Already, Tamil archana is being performed in HR and CE temples. In 47 big temples in the state, a board will be displayed with the words “Tamil Archana will be performed in this temple.” Also, training will be given to the priests in performing archana in Tamil.
Responding to a question, the Minister reiterated that the ‘All-caste archaka’ scheme would come into force within 100 days of assumption of office of this government. You will see archakas from castes functioning in the temples.”
The Minister said recently the Madras High Court has given 75 recommendations to temples which included preventing idol theft, maintenance of ancient temples, etc. and they were discussed during the meeting. Already, the government started implementing a few of them while other recommendations would be enforced in due course.
Answering a question regarding the appointment of a new Jeeyar in Srirangam temple, the Minister said, “The procedure followed for appointment of a new Jeer so far will be followed in the present case too. The Chief Minister has advised that as far as religious matters are concerned, the sentiments of any section of the people should not get hurt– Sekar Babu added.

Priest asked to bring God’s Aadhaar to sell temple produce
In a bizarre incident, a priest who went to a government procurement centre to sell wheat grown in land belonging to the temple, was asked to produce the Aadhaar card of the deity. The incident took place in the first week of June in Kurhara village in Attara tehsil in Uttar Pradesh.
Mahant Ramkumar Das, the priest and chief caretaker of the Ram Janki temple, said he wanted to sell 100 quintals of wheat in a government mandi (market). He had done the online registration with the help of others.
The caretaker priest of the temple arrived at the government mandi to sell the crops grown on the temple land. It was then that he was asked to produce the Aadhaar card of the deity in whose name the land was registered.
The seven-hectare land is registered in the name of the deity, in this case, Lord Ram and Janki. “The registration was cancelled as I could not produce the Aadhaar card, where do I get Aadhaar of the Lord?” he asked.
The priest said that he spoke to the sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Saurabh Shukla. The SDM said that the priest was not asked to produce the Aadhaar card of the deity, but he was explained the process. “The policy has been decided at the government level and purchase was being done on the basis of that policy,” he said.

Ramdev’s U-turn: All ‘good doctors’ are messengers of God, will get vaccinated soon
Yoga guru Ramdev, who had said he does not need the Covid vaccine as he has protection of yoga and ayurveda, on Thursday did a summersault, saying he will soon get the jab and described doctors as “God’s envoys on earth”.
Ramdev had earlier stirred a controversy with his comments on the efficacy of allopathic drugs against COVID-19, drawing the ire of the medical fraternity. Now, welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement about free vaccine to all from June 21, Ramdev described it as a “historic” step and appealed to all to get themselves vaccinated.
“Get both doses of the vaccine and the double protection of yoga and ayurveda. They will combine to give you such a robust shield of protection that not a single person will die from Covid,” he told reporters in Haridwar.
Asked when he will get the vaccine shot, the yoga guru said, “Very soon.” Ramdev also heaped praise on good allopathic doctors, describing them as “God’s envoys on earth”.
On the ongoing confrontation with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ramdev said he cannot have any animosity with any organisation. All he was against the exploitation of people in the name of medicines, he said.
“I am not against any organisation. Good doctors are a real boon. They are God’s envoys on earth. But individual doctors can do wrong things,” he said. He also said for emergency treatment and surgery, allopathy is the best.

Tamil Nadu government retrieves encroached land of Chennai’s Vadapalani temple
PK Sekar Babu, Tamil Nadu Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department on Monday informed about the official retrieval of land of the Vadapalani Murugan temple here.
“It is the policy of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin, that no one should be hindered from worshipping as per religious rites of his choice. The property of the Lord is the property of the government. The Chief Minister will take action against whoever misuses those assets,” DMK minister.
“Today, this land which had been encroached is retrieved officially,” he said.
The property of Vadapalani Murugan temple worth Rs 250 crore located at Karunanidhi Street, Gandhinagar, Chennai had been occupied by the vehicles belonging to the film industry.

Lightning strikes Bijli Mahadev temple in Himachal’s Kullu,
A video of lightning striking the hilltop of Bijli Mahadev temple area in Himachal’s Kullu valley has been getting viral on social media.
Located at an altitude of about 2,460 metres, Bijli Mahadev is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Lightning incidents occur here like once in over a decade and this time it broke the Shivlinga inside the temple premises.
After the incident, the Shivlinga was coated with butter by the temple priest to bring it to original form.
Located 14 km from Kullu across the Beas river, it can be approached after a trek of 3 km.
A panoramic view of Kullu and Parvati valleys can be seen from the temple. The 60 feet high staff of Bijli Mahadev temple glistens like a silver needle in the sun.
It is said that the tall staff attracts divine blessings in the form of lightning, thus the name Bijli Mahadev.

ஆயுத, சங்கம் = இன்றும் தமிழிலும் உளது
ஆயினும் இரண்டும் சங்க காலத்தில் இல்லை.
‘ச’- எழுத்தை தொல்காப்பியர் தடை செய்துவிட்டார்.
ஆயினும் 3 தமிழ் சங்கம் இருந்ததாகத் தமிழர்கள் நம்புகின்றனர்.
சங்கம் என்பது ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதச் சொல் என்பதில் எவருக்கும் ஐயமில்லை
Sanga for group is used in all Indian languages.
Though the oldest Tamil grammar bans Sa in the initial position,
Tamils believe they sponsored and patronised Tamil language through the Three Tamil Sangams.

Vrka gives the English word Wolf
But here Panini used it for the tribe called Vrka.
Probably a tribe acted like Wolves in attack or used Wolf as their totem symbol
Even in the Rig veda all Vrka words have been translated as wolf.
We have to reconsider those translations.
வ்ருக – என்பது ஓநாய். ஆனால் இங்கு அதன் பெயரிலுள்ள ஒரு இனத்தை, சமூகத்தைப் பாணினி குறிப்பிடுகிறார். இதை அறியாமல் ரிக் வேதம் முழுதும் ‘வ்ருக’ என்பதை ஓநாய் என்றே மொழிபெயர்த்து விட்டனர். அவற்றை மறு பரிசீலனை செய்ய வேண்டும்.

Confirming my comment on 5-3-115 Panini gives all the tribal names in two or three Sutras one after another..
Six warrior groups are named here
Bharata, Daman, Parsu, yaudheya are historically important
We may see here Yudha/Jew, Yadhava, Persians and Bharata.
Bharata is found even in Sangam Tamil literature, but as a fishing community.
பாணினி ‘வ்ருக’ என்பதை அடுத்த சில சூத்திரங்களிலும் இனம், குழுக்களின் பெயர்களை பட்டியல் இடுகிறார் . அவற்றில் யூத /யாதவ , பரத, தாம , பரசு முதலியன ஈரான் முதல் குமரி வரை உளது.
சங்க இலக்கிய பரதவர்= மீனவர் . ஆயினும் அச்ச்சொல் தமிழுடன் தொடர்பில்லாத சொல்.

It cannot be coincidence. It shows both are derived from the same source.
பாத , பத என்பது தமிழ், சம்ஸ்க்ருதம் ஆகிய இரண்டிலும் கால் என்ற உறுப்பையும், கால் என்ற அளவையும் குறிக்கும். இது போல குறைந்தது 20 சொற்களாவது இருக்கின்றன. இது தன்னிச்சையானதல்ல. இரண்டு மொழிகளும் ஒரே மூலத்திலிருந்து வந்தவை ஆகும்.

Tiru Valluvar , author of Tamil Veda Tirukkural, says that man becomes god in two of his couplets. Rig Veda, the oldest book in the world, said it thousands of years before the great Tamil saint Valluvar. Later it was echoed by other scholars including Seneca, St.Athanesius of Alexandria and Friedrich Schlegel.
“A man who leads an ideal life in this world,
Will be ranked amongst the Gods in heaven”- Kural 50
This is seen in all Avatars of Vishnu such as Rama, Krishna and Buddha (Buddha is one of the Ten Incarnations of Vishnu according to Jaya Deva of Orissa). Panini is praised as ‘Bhagavan Panini’ by Patanjali, the author of the Mahabhashya. Valluvar is also called ‘Deiva Pulavar/ Divine Poet’ by his contemporaries. In the same way Greeks praised Homer as ‘Divine Homer’. This makes it clear that anyone who lives a righteous life or contributes to society in a big way in a particular field, is praised as a person with Divinity.
Tamil saint Arunagirinathar praised the Boy Wonder of Tamil World Sambandar as an incarnation of Lord Skanda. In the same way Adi Shnakara was seen as an avatar of Skanda.
Commenting on the above Kural couplet , DR S M Diaz, Former I G of Police in Tamil Nadu says,
“This is one of the Kurals of Valluvar, which is oft quoted to praise and honour a person, who has lived the full span of the house holder’s life in the manner it should be, with love and virtue, eschewing all the evils that beset life , and at the same time practising Aram/Dharma. Valluvar himself is believed to have led such an ideal life.”
“Such a man has certainly achieved life’s purpose, which is also people’s acclamation of his virtue on earth, as much as eternal reward received at god’s hands. The passage from Seneca’s On Mercy Book 1, quoted under Kural 34, is relevant here again, for it recognises virtue itself as the most fitting reward for the virtuous but still asks, ‘Have I of all mortals….. been chosen to serve on earth as Vicar of all the Gods?” Similarly on Book 1 on Providence, Seneca says, “between good men and the Gods there exists a friendship brought about by virtue”. Seneca therefore goes half the Valluvar way.

Kural 413
“Those who in this world enjoy instruction which is the food of the ear, are equal to the Gods, who enjoy the food of the sacrifice”- Kural 413
Here Valluvar use the word Havis (avi) that is used 1000s of times in the Vedas. Havis is rice ball with ghee placed in the sacrificial fire by the Brahmins everyday.
Parithiar ,one of the ten ancient learned commentators on Tirukkural, by pointing out that the Gods, though in heaven, accept sacrificial offerings made to them on earth, and in like reciprocal manner, those who have listened and reaped the harvest of instructions from the wise, have acquired a heavenly accomplishment, which makes them comparable to the Gods”.
Here the Tamil word used by Valluvar is ‘Kelvi’ (that which is heard/ instruction) ; kelvi is Sruthi/Veda (that which is heard)
So I will take it as the learned people of the Vedic world. Valluvar’s word Havis in the same couplet is confirming it.
Manu and other law makers praise Brahmins as Devas/ Divinities on Earth (Bhu Surah) because of this Sruti (Knowledge Heard). Instead of looking at the caste one must at look at the learning. Satapata Brahmana book use it for both Brahmins and the scholars.
It says,
Ye brahmanah sushruvamso
Anoosaanaaste manushye devaah

Rig Veda Hymn 1-20-8
“As ministering priests they (RIBHUS) held, by pious acts they won themselves,
A share in sacrifice with Gods.”
Here Ribhus are praised because they become equal to Gods by their pious acts.
Who are Ribhus?
The Vedic commentators give us the background of Vedic Gods Ribhus.
“Devaaya Janmane , the divince class of the Ribhus, are the three sons of Sudhanvan, who are the descendants of Angiras. They were named severally Rbhu, Vibhvan and Vaaja and styled collectively Rbhus from the name of the eldest. Through their assiduous performance of good works, they attained divinity and become entitled to receive praise and adoration. They are supposed to live in the solar sphere and there is an indistinct identification of them with the rays of the sun; but, whether typical or not, they prove the admission, at an early date of the doctrine that man might become divinities – Wilson.
Prof. Wilson’s comment is quoted in the Griffith Translation of the Rig Veda.
To put it in a nutshell, One can become God by one’s good deeds is a concept supported by the Rig Vedic poets and Tamil Poets. And this is not the only place we come across such a belief. The Upanishads proclaim loud and clear Tat Tvam Asi ( You are That) and Aham Brahmaasmi ( I am Brahman).

JONATHAN SWIFT
(1667 – 1745)
ஆங்கில இலக்கிய உலகில் தோன்றிய ——- அங்கத (SATIRIST) எழுத்தாளர்களில் முதன்மையாக நிற்பவர் ஜொனாதன் ஸ்விஃப்ட் JONATHAN SWIFT.
அயர்லாந்தின் தலைநகரம் டப்ளினில் இவர் பிறந்தாலும் இவரது பெற்றோர் ஆங்கிலேயர்கள்தான். இவர் பிறப்பதற்கு சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்னர் இவரது தந்தை இறந்தார். இவரது தாயார் வறுமையில் வாடியதால் JONATHAN SWIFTஇன் இளமைக்காலம் கடினமாக இருந்தது.
20 வயதானபோது ஸ்விப்ட் இங்கிலாந்த்துக்குச் சென்று SIR WILLIAM TEMPLEக்கு செயலராக அமர்ந்தார். அங்கு பணிபுரியும் வேளையில் சர் வில்லியம்மின் மகள் எஸ்தர் ஜான்சனைக் (Esther Johnson) கண்டு , கண்டு காதல் கொண்டார் . அவளு க்காக நாள்தோறும் நாட்குறிப்பேடு எழுதுவதுண்டு. இந்தக் காதல் கடிதங்களை அவர் Journal to Stella என்று அழைத்தார். காதலிக்கு அவர் சூட்டிய புனைப்பெயர் — ரஹசியப் பெயர் ஸ்டெல்லா.
1694-ஆம் ஆண்டில் JONATHAN SWIFT அயர்லாந்துக்குத் திரும்பினார். ஒரு சிறிய பாரிஷில் CURATE ஆனார். பின்னர் அயர்லாந்தின் LORD DEPUTYக்கு CHAPLAIN ஆனார். இதற்குப் பின்னர் ST PATRICK’S கதிட்ரலுக்கு DEANஆகப் பொறுப்பேற்றார்.
ஐரிஷ்காரர்களை ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் எப்படி அடக்கி ஒடுக்குகிறார்கள் என்பது குறித்து பல துண்டு பிரசுரங்களை எழுதி வெளியிட்டார். பின்னர் மீண்டும் இங்கிலாந்துக்கு வந்து பல அரசியல் பிரசுரங்களை வெளியிட்டார். இது அவரது பெயரைப் பலருக்கு பறை சாற்றிய போதிலும் முன்னேற்றம் காண உதவவில்லை. ஏமாற்றமடைந்த JONATHAN SWIFT இனி திரும்பிவருவதில்லை என்ற முடிவுடன் அயர்லாந்துக்கே திரும்பிச் சென்று எஸ்தர் ஜான்சனை மணம் முடித்தார். இது ஒரு விநோதமான திருமணம். – அவர்கள் இருவரும் ஒரே வீட்டில் வாழ்ந்ததே இல்லை!
இவருடைய புகழ்பெற்ற நூல் கல்லிவரின் பயணங்கள் GULLIVER’S TRAVELS. இதை இவர் எழுதியபோது இவருக்கு வயது ஏறத்தாழ 60! விநோதமான கற்பனை உலகில் ஒரு மனிதன் செய்யும் பயணம் இது. மேம்போக்காகப் பார்த்தால் ஏதோ சிறுவர் கதைபோலத் தோன்றும் . இது ஒரு சிலேடை நூல் மனிதன் மனிதனுக்கு இழைக்கும் கொடுமைகளை அவர் கேலியும் கிண்டலுமாகச் சித்தரிக்கிறார். மனித சுபாவங்களை உருவகமாகச் சித்தரிக்கும் அங்கதம் இது .
இவருக்கு தாம் பைத்தியமாகிவிடுவோமோ என்ற அச்சமும் கவலையும் இருந்தது. கடைசி காலத்தில் அவரது அச்சம் உண்மையாகிவிட்டது. ஒரு சிறுகுழந்தை போல நடக்கத் தொடங்கினார். இவர் இறந்த பின்னர் டப்ளின் ST பாட்ரிக் கதிட்ரலில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டார்.
