TODAY IS WORLD SANSKRIT DAY
PM Modi sends message on World Sanskrit Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Sunday to mark the occasion of World Sanskrit Day. Sanskrit is an ancient world language. Sanskrit is often referred to as the Language of the Gods and is made of the words ‘sáṃ’, meaning together, good, well, perfected, and ‘kṛta’, meaning made, formed and work. When used together connotes something that is well-formed or perfected. HINDU VEDAS ARE IN OLD SANSKRIT LANGUAGE.

HINDU LEADERS WARN DMK GOVERNMENT
Row over appointment of non-Brahmin priests in temples by DMK govt
BJP MP Subramanian Swamy cautioned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin that he would move court against the appointment of non-Brahmin priests to Tamil Nadu’s temples.
Keeping its poll promise, the DMK Government has appointed trained aspirants from various castes as temple priests in Tamil Nadu.
Of the 208 appointees, CM MK Stalin handed over appointment orders from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR & CE) Department on Saturday to 75 personnel who had completed ‘Archagar’ training.
The group comprises ‘Bhattacharyas’ (Vaishnavite priests) and Odhuvars (Shaivite reciters) including one female Odhuvar.
SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY TO MOVE COURT
BJP MP Subramanian Swamy tweeted that MK Stalin, just like his father M Karunanidhi, is meddling with temple priests’ posting, warning that it has become necessary for him to approach court.
WHAT POLITICAL ANALYST SAYS
Political analyst Sumanth C Raman tweeted a video of a priest alleging that several priests are being evicted for the new appointees to begin work. The priest is heard saying that priests from Kalahasti Temple and Kabaleeswarar Temple are being evicted with nowhere to go.
“Many social media messages and videos saying priests in temples are being sacked to make way for new appointees. I welcome the appointment of priests of all castes but sacking those working in temples for decades is wrong,” tweeted Sumanth C Raman.
Viswa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Front of Tamil Nadu also condemned the move of DMK Government. Their motive is to destroy the roots of Hinduism by removing the traditional Brahmin priests.
The Archakas also voiced their protest. General public have pointed out that the mosques and churches do their prayers in Non-Tamil languages and the DMK government has never asked them to do prayers in Tamil. DMK government’s main aim is to destroy Hinduism according to the the comments and tweets posted in mass media.

BJP worker removes PM Modi bust from temple after criticism
A BJP worker, who had set up a temple with the bust of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Aundh in Pune in Maharashtra , has removed the sculpture after he was pulled up by the BJP leadership in Delhi.
Mayur Munde had set up a small temple alongside a road in Aundh area in Pune a few days ago and installed a bust of Modi in it. “I am a follower of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and I worship him… and take his blessings. The temple would also enable other followers to seek his blessings,” Munde had said.
His action, however, attracted sharp criticism, not only from opposition parties but even local BJP leaders.
While Munde initially remained unavailable for comments, he addressed the media late on Thursday. “I am here to clear my stand but my lawyer Madhukar Musale will speak on my behalf,” he said.
Musale said Munde had set up the temple and it was recently inaugurated by local residents. “News about the temple spread across the country due to the respect and love for the Prime Minister. It also reached BJP’s national leaders… they called me up and asked me to remove the statue,” he said.

Gujarat Anti-conversion law does not prohibit inter-faith marriages
The Gujarat government on Tuesday strongly defended its new anti-conversion law before the High Court, claiming the legislation only deals with “unlawful” religious conversion through marriage and does not prohibit people from entering into inter-faith wedlocks.
To further allay apprehensions raised by a petitioner as well as the Gujarat HC about the new law, Advocate General Kamal Trivedi, on behalf of the state government, said the legislation has several “safety valves”, such as prior approval of a district magistrate or an SDM- level officer to initiate prosecution.
After hearing the government’s arguments, a division bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Biren Vaishnav kept the next hearing on August 19 for pronouncement of an interim order.
The bench is hearing a petition challenging provisions of the law which penalizes forcible or fraudulent religious conversion through marriage.
The petition against the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2021, was filed last month by the Gujarat chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
