The word for dove or pigeon is Kapotah in Sanskrit; Puravu or Puraa in Tamil. In the 2000 year old Tamil literature we come across this bird in at east 75 places. It is associated with arid land in Tamil literature. Though the description of arid land is horrible we don’t see any bad omen linked to dove. But in the Rig Veda , the oldest book in the world, we see a strange reference to this bird linking it with death. In another image in the same Veda, we see its loving nature. Modern symbolism shows it as a bird of peace. Wherever peace is spoken they show White Pigeon. They release pigeons to show that they love peace. Britain issued a coin with pigeon bringing olive leaves to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of Second World War.
Wisdom Dictionary, the best source for researchers gives thirty meanings of Dove or Pigeon in different areas such as Natya shastra, Ayur Veda, Architecture and Zoology. But we rarely see its association with death. Kapotah was the name of a clan and name of a seer as well. Even the Rig Vedic verse in the tenth Mandala 10-163 is named after a seer known as Mr Dove or Mr Pigeon.
I will give the two mantras in the Rig Veda where pigeon is referred to and my comments on it:
devāḥ kapota iṣito yad icchan dūto nirṛtyā idam ājagāma | tasmā arcāma kṛṇavāma niṣkṛtiṃ śaṃ no astu dvipade śaṃ catuṣpade ||
“O gods, let us worship for that, desiring which the pigeon sent as Nirṛti‘s messenger, has come to this(ceremony); let us make atonement, may prosperity be given to our bipeds and quadrupeds.” 10-165-1
ṛcā kapotaṃ nudata praṇodam iṣam madantaḥ pari gāṃ nayadhvam | saṃyopayanto duritāni viśvā hitvā na ūrjam pra patāt patiṣṭhaḥ ||
“(Praised) by our hymn, O gods, drive out the pigeon, who deserves to be driven out, exhilarated (by our oblation), bring us food and cattle, dissipating all our misfortunes; abandoning our food, may the swift(pigeon) fly away.” 10-165-5
In between 10-165-1 and 10-16-5 we have three more mantras referring to pigeon in the same tone.
“May the bird sent to our dwellings, the pigeon, be auspicious, O gods, and void of offence, so that the wise Agni may approve of our oblation, and the winged weapon (of mischief) depart from us.” 10-165-2
“May the winged weapon (of mischief) do us no harm; he takes his plural ce upon the touchwood, the seat of Agni; may prosperity attend our cattle and our people, let not the pigeon, gods, do us harm in this (dwelling).” 10-165-3
All these mantras dub pigeon or dove as a bird of bad omen.
In the footnote for the Rig Vedic mantra Ralph T H Griffith adds an interesting note:
A dove, regarded as an ill-omened bird and the messenger of death, has flown into the house. Similarly in North Lincolnshire,
If a pigeon is seen sitting on a tree, or comes into the house, r from being wild suddenly becomes tame, it is Sign of Death, Notes and Querries, 8-382

Kindness of Dove
Contrary to this hymn, Seer/Rishi Sunashepa Angirasa paints a different picture in RV 1-30-4
अ॒यमु॑ ते॒ सम॑तसि क॒पोत॑ इव गर्भ॒धिम् । वच॒स्तच्चि॑न्न ओहसे ॥ अयमु ते समतसि कपोत इव गर्भधिम् । वचस्तच्चिन्न ओहसे ॥ ayam u te sam atasi kapota iva garbhadhim | vacas tac cin na ohase ||
“This libation is (prepared) for you; you approach it as a pigeon his pregnant (mate), for on that account do you accept our prayer.” A Tamil poet also refers to it. Male dove fans a female dove because the weather is hot !

My Comments
Only when a pigeon appears suddenly in an unusual place, then it is considered a bad omen. Hindus considered anything impure that comes to a sacred place a bad omen. Even if a dog entered the place of Fire Sacrifice then they hated it. 2000 year old Sangam Tamil literature described Brahmin Street as a place where no dog or cock enters. Such a purity was maintained in places where they did fire sacrifice in every house thrice a day!
In short ,they did not consider dove as a bird omen in normal circumstances.
Story of Sibi Chakravarthi
The story of Emperor Sibi is in Mahabharata. When a dove took refuge in him, the eagle that chased it for food demanded back its natural prey. But Sibi said that he had to give shelter to anyone who came as a refugee and came to offer his whole body to the eagle . First, he cut a part of his body and put it n the balance to give the weight of flesh equal to the weight of the dove. But it was never balanced despite repeated attempts. Then he himself climbed the balance to give flesh ‘weight for weight’. Then the whole scene changed. The dove appeared as Agni, Lord of Fire , and the Eagle appeared as Indra , Chief of Heaven. This story is referred to in Sangam literature and later Silappadikaram as well Choza kings boasted that they were the descendants of that great emperor Sibi.
There is another story in the epic where two doves sacrificed their lives in the fire for the sake of a hungry hunter. All such stories in the Hindu epics and Hindu fables of Panchatantra show that doves are lovable birds.
In Sangam Tamil Literature
I give some examples from 2000 year old Tamil Sangam Books:
In Akananuru poem 17, a fine contrast is drawn between three pictures, one of an arid tract, another of a quiet home in which the heroine lights up the lamps when the doves call to their mates, and another of a small fertile hill with Kutalam flowers of fragrant smell and a canopy of clouds
In Akananuru poem 2, we see couple of doves fly far away with terror in gusty wind.
In Kuruntokai poem 79, the female doves perching on the Omai tree call their mates with a sorrowful voice
In Kuruntokai poem 174, the ripe seeds of the Kalli trees burst open and scares away the happy pair of pigeons perching on the branches.
In Narrinai poem 305, again we see a dove perching on the Nocci tree calls to its mate in a very clear voice and expresses some grief in it.
In Akananuru poem 287, the waving aerial root of a banyan tree frightens away the doves .
In Palaikkali of Kalittokai (verse 10) we see a male dove is fanning and comforting a female dove in hot weather condition.
One more interesting reference is in Pattinappalai of Sangam Period where the poet Kadiyaloor Uruththiran Kannanar (Mr Rudraksha) says doves eat stones. I saw a recent video in You Tube where a gentleman powders the red stones and feeds the doves. Hundreds of pigeons competing with one another, eat it happily. This helps them in digestion they say. Though this might have been noticed by many others a Tamil poet has documented it in his poem 2000 years ago!
Apart from these , we have passing reference to doves along with other birds. So the picture we get is doves are in pairs or one calling the other which shows mutual love.
Doves and pigeons in other cultures are already described in many websites. But the Hindu view of doves and pigeons is not dealt with in detail. Wisdom library gives 30 references and Sangam and later Tamil literature give at least 75 references. We have enough materials to write an encyclopaedia on Doves in Hindu Literature.

ஆலயம் அறிவோம்! வழங்குவது பிரஹன்நாயகி சத்யநாராயணன்.
ஆலயம் அறிவோம் தொடரில் இன்று நமது யாத்திரையில் இடம் பெறுவது ஏழு மோக்ஷபுரிகளில் ஒன்றாக அமைவதும் 108 வைணவ திவ்ய க்ஷேத்திரங்களுள் ஒன்றாகத் திகழ்வதுமான த்வாரகா திருத்தலம் ஆகும். “அயோத்யா மதுரா மாயா காசி காஞ்சி அவந்திகா புரித்வாரகாவதீ சைவ சப்தைதே மோக்ஷதாயிகா” என்பது அனைவரும் அறிந்த ஏழு மோக்ஷபுரிகளைப் பற்றிய ஸ்லோகமாகும்.
குஜராத் மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள இத்தலம் பகவான் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணருடன் தொடர்பு கொண்ட தலமாகும்.
மூலவர் திரு நாமம் : த்வாரகாதீசன், கல்யாண நாராயணன்.
கருப்பு நிறத்தில் மேற்கு நோக்கி நின்ற திருக்கோலத்தில் இவர் காட்சி அளிக்கிறார்.
தாயார் திரு நாமம் : கல்யாண நாச்சியார், ருக்மிணி தீர்த்தம் :கோமதி நதி அல்லது சமுத்ர சங்கமம் அல்லது பிரபாச தீர்த்தம் விமானம் : ஹேமகூட விமானம்
இத்தலத்தைப் பற்றிய ஏராளமான புராண மற்றும் இலக்கிய வரலாறுகள் உண்டு. ஒரு சமயம் ஜராசந்தன் மக்களைப் பெரிதளவும் கொடுமைப் படுத்த, உடனே ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணர் சமுத்திர ராஜனிடம் இந்த இடத்தைக் கேட்டுப் பெற்றார்; விஸ்வகர்மாவை வைத்து இந்த நகரை நிர்மாணித்தார். உலகமே வியக்கும் வண்ணம் ஸ்வர்க்கத்திற்கு நிகராக அகன்ற சாலைகளுடனும் பல தீர்த்தங்களுடனும் இந்த நகர் நிர்மாணிக்கப்பட்டது. அவரது கொள்ளுப் பேரனான வஜ்ரநாபன் ஐந்து அடுக்கு நிலைகொண்ட த்வாரகாதீசர் ஆலயத்தை நிர்மாணித்தார்.
இப்போதுள்ள த்வாரகா பொதுவாக இரு பகுதிகளாக அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. த்வாரகா புகைவண்டி நிலையத்திற்கு அருகில் உள்ள பகுதி கோமுகி த்வாரகா ஆகும். இன்னொரு பகுதி பேட் த்வாரகா ஆகும்.
ஸ்வர்க்கத்திற்கு செல்லும் வாயிலாக இது அமைவதால் இது த்வாரகா என்ற பெயரைப் பெற்றது. இங்கிருந்து தான் யாதவர்கள் அனைவரும் மோக்ஷம் அடைந்தனர்.
இங்குள்ள கோவிலில் அனைத்து பக்தர்களும் ஸ்வர்க வாயிலின் வழியே உள்ளே சென்று மோக்ஷ வாயில் வழியே வெளியே வருவது வழக்கம்.
கோவிலிலிருந்து அருகே உள்ள கோமதி நதி கடலில் கலக்கும் சங்கமத்தை அடையலாம். இந்த சங்கமத்தில் நீராடி விட்டுப் பின்னர் கோவில் தரிசனத்தை மேற்கொள்வது ஐதீகம். கோவிலிலிருந்து படகு மூலம் சென்றால் பேட் துவாரகையை அடையலாம். இங்கு கிருஷ்ணரின் அஷ்ட பட்டமகிஷிகளுக்கான கோவில்கள் உள்ளன. பேட் த்வாரகா என்ற சிறு தீவில் தான் கிருஷ்ணர் வாழ்ந்து வந்தார். இங்கு தான் அவரது அரண்மனை, அந்தப்புரம் ஆகியவை அமைந்திருந்தன. பால்ய கால நண்பரான குசேலர் இங்கு தான் வாழ்ந்து வந்தார். இங்கு தான் கிருஷ்ணர் சங்காசுரனை வதம் செய்தார்.
த்வாரகா ஆலயத்தில் லக்ஷ்மிநாராயணர், ருக்மிணி, திரிவிக்ரமன், தேவகி, ஜாம்பவதி ஆகியோரின் சந்நிதிகள் உள்ளன.
இங்குள்ள சங்கமத்தில் ரங்கன் காட், நாராயண் காட், காவூகாட், வசுதேவ காட், பாண்டவன் காட், பிரம்ம காட், பார்வதி காட், கங்கா காட், சுரதன் காட், கர்க்காரி காட், அனுமன் காட், நாராயண பலி காட் என பன்னிரெண்டு துறைகள் உள்ளன. இங்குள்ள ரிஷபா குண்டத்திலும் பக்தர்கள் நீராடுவது மரபாகும். இத்தலம் பற்றி வார்த்தைகளால் வர்ணிக்க முடியாது.
இங்கு ஏராளமான மகான்களும் அருளாளர்களும் காலம் காலமாக வந்து கிருஷ்ணரை தரிசித்து பல பாடல்களைப் புனைந்துள்ளனர். ஆதி சங்கரர், ராமானுஜர், மத்வர், ஞானேஸ்வரர், பக்த மீரா, கிருஷ்ண சைதன்யர், வல்லபாசாரியர் என்று இங்கு வந்த அருளாளர்களின் பட்டியல் மீக நீண்ட ஒன்றாகும். கிருஷ்ணரைப் பற்றிப் பாரத தேச மொழிகள் அனைத்திலும் அற்புதமான இலக்கியங்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் புனையப்பட்டுள்ளன. கிருஷ்ணரைப் பற்றிய பாடல்களோ பல்லாயிரம் ஆகும்.
பெரியாழ்வார் ஐந்து பாசுரங்கள், ஆண்டாள் நான்கு பாசுரங்கள், திருமழிசை ஆழ்வார் ஒரு பாசுரம், திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் இரண்டு பாசுரங்கள், நம்மாழ்வார் ஒரு பாசுரம் ஆக மொத்தம் 13 பாசுரங்களை ஆழ்வார்கள் இத்தலம் பற்றி மங்களாசாஸனம் செய்து அருளியுள்ளனர்.
இங்கு 1963ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் தொடர்ந்து பல வருடங்கள் நடந்துள்ள பல அகழ்வாராய்ச்சிகளில் இந்தத் தலம் பண்டைய காலத்தில் புகழோங்கி இருந்ததற்கான பல ஆதாரங்கள் கிடைத்து உலகையே மகிழ வைத்துள்ளன. வசுதேவருக்கும் தேவகிக்கும் மதுராபுரியில் மகனாக அவதரித்த கிருஷ்ணர் ஆயர்பாடியில் யசோதா பாலனாக வளர்ந்தார். ஏராளமான அருள் லீலைகளைப் புரிந்தார். த்வாரகாவை நிர்மாணித்து, ஆண்டு, மறத்தை அழித்து அறத்தை நிலைநாட்டிய பின்னர் தனது அவதார காரியம் நிறைவேறியவுடன் அவர் இங்கிருந்து தான் தனது விஷ்ணு லோகத்திற்குச் சென்றார்.
காலம் காலமாக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்பாலித்து வரும் ருக்மிணி சத்யபாமா சமேத ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ண பகவான் அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.
பெரியாழ்வாரின் அருள் வாக்கு இது:
தடவரைவாய் மிளிர்ந்து மின்னும் தவள நெடுங்கொடி போல் சுடரொளியாய் நெஞ்சினுள்ளே தோன்றும் என் ஜோதி நம்பி! வடதடமும் வைகுந்தமும் மதிள் துவராபதியும் இடவகைகள் இகழ்ந்திட்டு என்பால் இடவகை கொண்டனையே
சரோஜா பட் தொகுத்த சுபாஷித சதகம் என்ற நூலிலிருந்து சில சுபாஷிதங்களைப் பார்த்தோம். இதோ இன்னும் ஐந்து சுபாஷிதங்கள் :-
சர்வநாஷே சமுத்பன்னே அர்தே த்யஜதி பண்டித: |
அர்தேன குருதே கார்யே சர்வநாஷோ ந ஜாயதே ||
ஒரு பெரிய நாசம் வரும் போது புத்திசாலியானவன் பாதியை தியாகம் செய்து தான் அடைய விரும்பியதை மீதி இருக்கும் பாதியை வைத்து அடைகிறான். இப்படியாக பெரிய நாசம் ஏற்படுவதில்லை.
When a total disaster is incumbent a wise man abandons half (of what he wants to achieve) and manages with the remaining half. Thus the total disaster does not take place.

மனோ தாவதி சர்வத்ர மதோன்மத்தகஜேந்த்ரவத் |
ஞானாங்ககுஷசமா புத்திஸ்தஸ்ய நிச்சலதே மன: ||
மதம் பிடித்த யானை போல மனமானது இங்கும் அங்கும் அலைகிறது. அறிவு என்னும் அங்குசத்தைக் கொண்ட ஒருவனின் மனமானது நிலையாக இருக்கிறது.
The mind runs (helter and shelter) like an intoxicated elephant. The mind of one whose intellect is possessed of a goad in the form of knowledge, remains stable.

அஹோ குணானாம் ப்ராப்த்யர்தே யதந்தே பஹுதா நரா: |
முக்தா யதர்தே பங்காஸ்யா: இதரேஷாம் ச கா கதா ||
நல்ல குணங்களைக் கொள்வதற்கு எவ்வளவு முயற்சிகள் மனிதர்களால் எடுக்கப்படுகின்றன? முக்தா (முக்தி அடைபவர்கள் – இன்னொரு பொருள் முத்துக்கள்) கூட அதற்கென தங்கள் வாயை திறந்து கொள்ள/ உடைத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டியிருக்கும் போது மற்றவர்களைப் பற்றிச் சொல்ல என்ன இருக்கிறது?
How many efforts are put in by people to acquire qualities? Even the muktas (liberated sould/pearls) have to get their mouths broken for that purpose. What to say of other people?
உயர்ந்த நிலை என்பது பிறப்பால் ஏற்படும் ஒன்றல்ல. நல்ல குணங்களால் அடையப்படுவது அது என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. பால், தயிர், நெய் ஆகியன அதனுடைய குணத்தினால் அதிக கனத்தை அடைகிறது.
Superiority is not caused by birth (in a high family). It is said that superiority (greatness) is achieved by means of good qualities. Milk, curds and ghee become more and more heavy by means of their qualities.

கௌரவம் ப்ராப்யதே தானான்ன து வித்தஸ்ய சஞ்சயாத் |
ஸ்திதிருச்சை: பயோதானாம் பயோதீநாமத: ஸ்திதி: ||
கௌரவமானது ஒருவன் தனது செல்வத்தைக் கொடுப்பதால் ஏற்படுவது, சேர்ப்பதினால் அல்ல. (மழையைப் பொழிவிக்கும்) மேகங்கள் (வானில்) உயரத்தில் இருக்கின்றன. ஆனால் அந்த நீரைச் சேர்த்து வைக்கும் சமுத்திரங்கள் (பூமியில்) கீழே உள்ளன.
Greatness is gained by giving away wealth, not by storing it. The place of the clouds (who give water) is high up (in the sky), whereas the place of stores of water (seas) is below (on the earth).

போப்பாண்டவர் -மோடி சந்திப்பு – ஆர் எஸ் எஸ் வரவேற்பு
இத்தாலியில் வாத்திகன் நகரில் உள்ள கத்தோலிக்க கிறிஸ்தவ மதத் தலைவர் போப்பாண்டவர் பிரான்சிசை நேற்று பாரதப் பிரதமர் நரேந்திர மோடி சந்தித்துப் பேசினார். 20 நிமிடம் சந்திப்பு என்று நேரம் ஒதுக்கப்பட்டபோதும் இருவரும் உலக விஷயங்களை ஒரு மணி நேரம் அலசி ஆராய்ந்தனர். போப்பாண்டவரை இந்தியாவுக்கு வருமாறு நரேந்திர மோ டி அழைப்பும் விடுத்தார்.
இதற்கு முன்னரும் அப்போதைய போப் இந்தியாவுக்கு விஜயம் செய்தது அடல் பிஹாரி வாஜ்பாயியின் ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில்தான் என்பது குறிப்பிடத் தக்கது.

போப் – மோடி சந்திப்பை உலகத்தின் மிகப்பெரிய தொண்டர் அமைப்பான ராஷ்ட்ரீய ஸ்வயம் சேவக சங்கம் வரவேற்றது . ஆர் எஸ் எஸ் அமைப்பின் தேஸீய செயற்குழு கூட்டம் கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தின் தார்வாட் நகரில் மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு நடந்தது அதன் இறுதியில் இயக்கத்தின் செயலாளர் தத்தாத்ரேய ஹோஷபாலே பத்திரிக்கையாளர்களை சந்தித்தார். அப்போது நிருபர்கள் கேட்ட கேள்விகளுக்கு பதில் தருகையில் போப் பிரான்ஸிஸ் – பிரதமர் மோடி சந்திப்பை ஆர் எஸ் எஸ் இயக்கம் வரவேற்பதாகச் சொன்னார் . மோடி, உலகத்தின் மிகப் பெரிய ஜனநாயக நாட்டின் தலைவர்; போப் பிரான்சிஸ் உலக கத்தோலிக்க கிறிஸ்தவர்களின் தனிப் பெரும் தலைவர். இருவர் சந்திப்பு இந்தியாவின் நன்மதிப்பை மேலும் உயர்த்தும் – மேலும் ‘வசுதைவ குடும்பகம் – யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர் ‘என்பது இந்துக்களின் பண்பாடு. மேலும் இருவரும் இரு நாட்டு தலைவர்கள் என்பதால் இது நாட்டுத் தலைவர்கள் சந்திப்பாகும் என்றும் சொன்னார். இத்தாலியின் தலைநகரான ரோமாபுரிக்குள் ஒட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் குட்டி நாடு வாத்திகன் சிட்டி ஆகும் . இது இந்தியாவின் பெரிய நகர் அளவுக்குக் கூட இல்லை .
தார்வாட் நகரில் நடந்த ஆர் எஸ் எஸ் செயற்குழு கூட்டத்தில் 350 கார்யகர்த்தாக்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர். இயக்கத்தின் தலைவரான சர்சங்க சாலக் மோகன் பகவத், இயக்கத்தின் செயலாளரான சற்கார்யவாஹ் தத்தாத்ரேய ஹோஷபாலே முன்னிலையில் விவாதங்கள் நடந்தன
வங்க தேசத்தில் இந்துக்கள் மீது நடைபெறும் தாக்குதல்கள், இஸ்லாமிய தீவிரவாதிகளால் திட்டமிடப்பட்ட தாக்குதல் என்றும் இதைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்த வங்க தேச அரசு தக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் கூட்டம் எச்சரித்தது .

இரு நாட்களாக நடந்த ஜி20 மாநாட்டில் கலந்து கொண்ட மோடி, வெள்ளியன்று இத்தாலி தலைநகர் ரோமில் உள்ள பைசா காந்தி நினைவிடத்திற்கு சென்ற பிரதமர் மோடி அங்கு காந்தியடிகளுக்கு அஞ்சலி செலுத்தினார். பின்னர், வெளிவந்த பிரதமர் மோடியை அங்கு கூடியிருந்த இத்தாலி நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த இந்திய வம்சாவளியினர் வணங்கி வரவேற்றனர். அனைவருக்கும் பிரதமர் மோடி வணக்கம் தெரிவித்தார்

தங்க நகை உருக்கும் தி.மு.க . திட்டத்துக்கு கோர்ட் தடை
அறங்காவலர்களை நியமிக்கும் வரை கோயில் நகைகளை உருக்குவது தொடர்பாக எந்த முடிவும் எடுக்கக் கூடாது என்று சென்னை ஐகோர்ட்டு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.
இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை கட்டுப்பாட்டில் இருக்கும் தமிழக கோவில்களில் உள்ள தங்க நகைகளை உருக்கி, தங்க கட்டிகளாக மாற்றி, அதனை வைப்பு நிதியில் வைத்து வரும் தொகையை பயன்படுத்தி கோவிலுக்கு தேவையான பணிகள் செய்யப்படும் என தமிழக அரசு சார்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. தொடர்ந்து அதற்கான அறிவிப்பும் வெளியிடப்பட்டது. இதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து சென்னை ஐகோர்ட்டில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டது.
இந்த வழக்கு மீதான விசாரணையின் போது மனுதாரர் தரப்பில் ஆஜரான வழக்கறிஞர், பல கோவில்களில் அறங்காவலர்கள் பணி நிரப்பப்படாமல் உள்ள நிலையில், கோவில் நகைகளை உருக்கப்படும் என்ற தமிழக அரசின் அறிவிப்பு சந்தேகத்தை எழுப்புகிறது என்று கூறினார். இதனை கருத்தில் எடுத்துக் கொண்ட ஐகோர்ட்டு, அறங்காவலர்களை நியமிக்கும்வரை கோவில் நகைகளை உருக்குவது தொடர்பாக எந்த முடிவும் எடுக்கக் கூடாது என்று தடை விதித்து உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்தது.
மேலும், கோவிலுக்கு காணிக்கையாக வழங்கப்பட்ட நகைகளை கணக்கெடுக்க அனுமதி அளிக்கப்படுவதுடன், இதுதொடர்பாக தமிழக அரசு பதிலளிக்க உத்தரவிடப்பட்டு, வழக்கினை டிசம்பர் 15ஆம் தேதிக்கு சென்னை ஐகோர்ட்டு தள்ளிவைத்தது.
இந்து சமய அறநிலையத் துறை முடிவுக்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்தும் இது சம்பந்தமாக செப்டம்பர் 22ம் தேதி பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்ட சுற்றறிக்கையை ரத்து செய்யக் கோரியும் ‘இண்டிக் கலெக்டிவ் டிரஸ்ட்’ மற்றும் சிலர் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் பொதுநல வழக்கு தொடர்ந்தனர்.
அவர்கள் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், இந்து சமய அறநிலைய சட்டத்தில் கோயிலுக்கு சொந்தமான நகைகளை உருக்க எந்த அனுமதியும் வழங்கவில்லை. கோயில் நிர்வாகத்தில் மட்டுமே அறநிலையத்துறை தலையிட முடியுமே தவிர மத வழிபாட்டு விவகாரங்களில் தலையிட முடியாது.
வருவாய் ஈட்டுவதற்காக நகைகளை உருக்கி டெபாசிட் செய்வதற்கு பதில் ஆக்கிரமிப்பில் உள்ள ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஏக்கர் கோயில் நிலங்களை மீட்டு வருவாய் ஈட்டலாம். கோயில் நகைகள் தொடர்பாக முறையாக எந்த பதிவேடுகளும் பராமரிக்கப்படாத நிலையில், நகைகளை உருக்கி வங்கிகளில் டெபாசிட் செய்வது கேள்வியை எழுப்பியுள்ளது. பக்தர்கள் காணிக்கையாக வழங்கிய நகைகளை உருக்க அதிகாரிகளுக்கு எந்த அதிகாரமும் இல்லை. இந்துக்களின் மத உணர்வை புண்படுத்தும் வகையில் உள்ளதால் நகைகளை உருக்குவது தொடர்பான சுற்றறிக்கைக்கு தடை விதிக்க வேண்டும். அதை ரத்து செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று கோரப்பட்டிருந்தது.
வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிபதிகள், கோயில் நகைகளை பொறுத்தவரை உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி, உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகள் அடங்கிய குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த குழு கோயில்களுக்கு பக்தர்கள் அளித்த காணிக்கை நகைகளை கண்டறியலாம். அறநிலையத்துறை சட்டப் பிரிவின்படி கோயில் நகைகளை உருக்குவது தொடர்பாக கோயில்களின் அறங்காவலர் குழுதான் முடிவு செய்ய வேண்டும். எனவே, அறங்காவலர்களை நியமிப்பதற்கு முன்பு காணிக்கை நகைகளை உருக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகள் தொடர்பாக எந்த முடிவையும் அரசு செய்ய கூடாது. இந்த வழக்கில் அரசு பொதுவான பதில் மனுவை 4 வாரங்களில் தாக்கல் செய்ய வேண்டும். வழக்குகள் டிசம்பர் 15ம் தேதிக்கு தள்ளிவைக்கப்படுகிறது” என்று உத்தரவிட்டனர்.

‘கோவில்ளுக்கு விரைவில் அறங்காவலர்களை நியமிக்க வேண்டிய கட்டாயம் உள்ளது. மாவட்ட குழுக்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டு விட்டால், அறங்காவலர் நியமன நடவடிக்கையை கண்காணிக்கலாம்’ என, சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
ஆலய வழிபடுவோர் சங்கத்தின் தலைவர் டி.ஆர்.ரமேஷ் என்பவர் தாக்கல் செய்த மனு தலைமை நீதிபதி சஞ்ஜிப் பானர்ஜி, நீதிபதி ஆதிகேசவலு அடங்கிய, ‘முதல் பெஞ்ச்’ முன்,விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது.
மனுதாரரான டி.ஆர்.ரமேஷ் ஆஜராகி, ”நிரந்தரமாகவோ, தற்காலிகமாகவோ கோவில்களில் உள்ள பணியிடங்களுக்கு நியமிக்க, அறங்காவலர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே அதிகாரம் உள்ளது. ஆனால், கோவில்களில் அறங்காவலர்கள் நியமிக்கப்படவில்லை.”அயல்பணி என்ற முறையில் 100க்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்கள் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். சட்டம் இதை அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. எனவே, மேற்கொண்டு நியமனங்களுக்கு தடை விதிக்க வேண்டும்,” என்றார். அரசு தரப்பில், அட்வகேட் ஜெனரல் சண்முகசுந்தரம் ஆஜராகி, ”அறங்காவலர்களை நியமிக்க, மாவட்ட அளவில் குழுக்கள் அமைப்பதற்கு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.”குழு உறுப்பினர்களை தேர்வு செய்ய, விண்ணப்பங்கள் வரவேற்று விளம்பரங்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளன. நான்கு வாரங்களில் குழுக்கள் அமைக்கப்படும்,” என்றார்.

Modi meets Pope Francis, discusses wide range of issues
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Pope Francis on Saturday and discussed a wide range of issues aimed at making the planet better by fighting climate change and removing poverty during their first-ever one-on-one meeting.
Modi, who is the first Indian Prime Minister to meet Francis since he became Pope in 2013, invited the head of the Catholic Church to visit India.
It may be recalled that the last Papal Visit happened in 1999 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister and Pope John Paul II came.
Now it is during Modi’s prime ministerial term that the Pope has been invited to visit India, sources said.
The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Pope Francis that was scheduled only for 20 minutes went on for an hour in Vatican City in Rome, they said.
PM Modi was accompanied by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar.
Prime minister is on a trip to Italy to take part in G 20 Summit.

BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rendezvous with Pope Francis in the Vatican, stating that the event has enhanced the prestige of the nation.
Talking to reporters about the meeting, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said, “What is wrong if the head of the government meets anyone in the existing civil system in the world? We welcome it because we believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family). We respect all religions.”
BJP president JP Nadda also said the meeting between PM Modi and Pope Francis is an occasion fit for the history books and a great step towards peace, harmony, and inter-faith dialogue.
“India is a vibrant and inclusive democracy, where the Christian community has played a pivotal role in areas like politics, films, business & armed forces. Under Modi Ji’s leadership India is marching ahead on the path of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’,” Nadda said in a tweet.

RSS CONDEMNS ATTACK ON BANGLADESH HINDUS
RSS passes resolution urging Bangladesh Govt to take necessary steps to protect minorities
Calling the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh a “planned effort to eradicate the Hindu society there”, the RSS ‘karyakari mandal’—the All India Executive Committee—on Friday condemned the “rise of Islamic powers and the conspiracy of Islamisation by Jihadi organisations” in the neighbouring country.
The resolution passed at the meeting in Dharwad (Karnataka) termed the Bangladesh violence “a serious threat to the democratic system of peace-loving countries”.
The population of Hindus is decreasing continuously in Bangladesh since the time of Partition, the resolution also warned, asking the government to use all available diplomatic channels to apprise the government of Bangladesh about the “concerns of Hindu society and institutions around the world”.
More than 350 Sangh leaders from across the country, including chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, attended the event.
Apprising about the developments, senior RSS functionary Arun Kumar said the meeting deliberated on the current status of the RSS work, future plans and attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
“A resolution has been passed regarding the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The attack on Hindu society in Bangladesh is not a sudden event. An attempt was made to create communal frenzy on the basis of fake news. It was a planned attempt to eradicate the Hindu society there,” Arun Kumar said.

Don’t Melt Temple Jewellery Unless Trustees Appointed: Madras High Court Tells Tamil Nadu
The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the Tamil Nadu government to refrain from taking any decision on melting temple jewellery into gold bars, as part of the recently announced Gold Monetisation Scheme, until Trustees are appointed to Hindu temples in the State
However, the first bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice P D Audikesavalu said the three-member judges committee appointed by the state to monitor the process could proceed further with the inventory of gold donated to temples.
The commissioner of the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR and CE) department cannot suo motu decide on melting of temple gold without the recommendations of the trustees as per the HR and CE Act, the bench said.
The court passed the interim order on petitions moved by M Saravanan and A V Gopala Krishnan challenging the decision to melt gold jewellery and deposit them in banks.

Kejriwal promises free travel to Ayodhya
In the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal played the ace card during his visit to Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanuman Garhi on the second of his two-day tour to Ayodhya on Tuesday by announcing that his government would provide free travel to Lord Ram’s birthplace to the residents of Delhi
Kejriwal had taken part in Saryu Aarati in Ayodhya on Monday.
“Under the Delhi government’s Mukhymantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, we cover Vaishnav Devi, Shirdi Sai, Rameshwaram, Dwarika Puri, Mathura-Vrindavan and other places for free travel to devotees. We will include Ayodhya in the scheme now,” he said.
Earlier, KEJRIWAL visited the Bajrang bali temple in Hanuman Garhi and had darshan of Ram Lalla in Ram Janmabhoomi on Tuesday. Kejriwal said he prayed to the god to bless the countrymen with happiness, progress, peace and development.

Kubera temple to be opened at Chalavara in Kerala’s Palakkad district on November 1

On November 5, former chief priest of Sabarimala and Guruvayur temples Thekkumparambath Unnikrishnan Namboothiripad will perform the Lakshmi – Kubera Pooa and Dhanavahini pooja.
On November 12 chief priests of Kollur Mookambika temple Sri Dr. Narasimha Adiga and Subramanya Adiga will perform Sree Sooktham and Dhanavahini pooja.

NEW SHIVA TEMPLE EXCAVATED IN ODISAH
The base of another temple was excavated in the Suka-Sari temple complex by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Bhubaneswar circle, on Wednesday.
Besides, a structure resembling a Shiva Linga and carved portion of a wall have been found in the north-east direction of the Sari temple.
ASI State head Arun Malik said that there are chances that many other temple structures will be found in the area towards the Bindu Sagar, he told The New Indian Express.
Amalaka’ of buried temple excavated from Suka-Sari Deula complex
Archaeologists have stumbled upon two ‘amalakas’ while excavating the Suka-Sari Deula complex on Friday.
. An Aamalaka is a stone disk with ridges on the rim, that sits atop the temple’s main tower. It is crowned with a kalasha from which a temple banner is often hung.
“In Hindu temple architecture, every stone has a meaning and measurement. Measuring the amalakas can tell us about the length of their temples”, Malik said
Including this new finding, remains of four temples have been found from the Suka-Sari Deula complex IN ORISSA so far.

Ashok Vatika was a sprawling garden of the ‘Treta Yug’ in the kingdom of Ravana, where Sita was held captive. The garden’s present location is believed to be the Hakgala Botanical Garden in Seetha Eliya, an upcountry town in central province of Sri Lanka close to the resort city of Nuwara Eliya.
High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Milinda Moragoda, visited Ayodhya on Thursday and offered the Ashok Vatika stone to the chief priest of Ram temple Acharya Satyendra Das.
There is a temple in Sita Eliya dedicated to Goddess Sita IN SRI LANKA and is said to mark the place where SITA DEVI was held captive and where she regularly prayed to Lord Ram to rescue her.
