சித்தூரின் வரலாறு : சந்தாவின் பீஷ்ம பிரதிக்ஞை!

சித்தூர் அபூர்வமான வீரர்களைக் கொண்டது. அதன் வரலாற்றில் ஒரு பொன்னேடு தான் சந்தாவின் பீஷ்ம பிரதிக்ஞையைப் பற்றித் தெரிவிக்கிறது.
சித்தூரை ஆண்ட ராணா லாக்கா இப்ராஹிம் லோடியை அடித்து வீழ்த்தித் துரத்தினான். இதனால் அவன் பெயரும் புகழும் எங்கும் பரவின.
அவனது மகன்களில் சந்தா மூத்தவன். பெரும் வீரன். அனைத்து நற்குணங்களின் இருப்பிடமாக அவன் திகழ்ந்தான்.
இதை அறிந்த ஜோத்பூரின் அரசன் தன் மகளை சந்தாவுக்கு மணம் முடிக்க் எண்ணினான்.
அந்தக் கால வழக்கப்படி ஒரு பிராமணரிடம் தேங்காய் உள்ளிட்ட மங்கலப் பொருள்களைத் தந்து மணம் பேசி முடிக்க அனுப்பினான் ஜோத்பூர் அரசன்.
சித்தூர் வந்த பிராமணன் அரசனிடம் தன் மன்னன் கூறியதைச் சொல்லி தேங்காயைச் சமர்ப்பித்தான்.
தேங்காயைப் பெற்ற ராணா லாக்கா விளையாட்டாக சிரித்துக் கொண்டே, “ இதை இந்த முதியவனுக்குக் கொடுத்து பெண் கொடுப்பதாக அல்லவா நினைத்தேன். இப்படி ஒரு விளையாட்டு விளையாடலாமா?” என்று வேடிக்கையாகக் கேட்க அரசவையில் இருந்த அனைவரும் இந்த நகைச்சுவையைக் கேட்டுச் சிரித்தனர்.
இதைக் கேட்டுக் கொண்டே அரசவையில் நுழைந்த சந்தா, அரசவையினரை நோக்கி, “ சபையோரே! எனது தந்தையார் விளையாட்டாக இதைச் சொல்லி இருந்தாலும் அவர் சொன்னது சொன்னது தான். அந்தப் பெண்ணை நான் மணக்க மாட்டேன். அவளை என் தாயாராகவே பார்ப்பேன்” என்றான்.
அனைவரும் திடுக்கிட்டனர்.
லாக்கா எவ்வளவோ சொல்லிப் பார்த்தான். சந்தா கேட்கவில்லை.
விளையாட்டு இப்போது வினையாகி விட்டது.
தேங்காயைத் திருப்பி அனுப்ப முடியாது. அது மிகத் தீவிர விளைவை உண்டாக்கி போரில் வேண்டுமானாலும் கொண்டு விடும்.
என்ன செய்வது?
நன்கு யோசித்த லாக்கா இறுதியாக ஒரு அஸ்திரத்தைத் தன் மகன் சந்தா மேல் பிரயோகிக்க நினைத்தான். “இதோ பார், மகனே! நீ மட்டும் அவளை மணக்கவில்லை எனில் உனக்கு இந்த ராஜ்யம் கிடைக்காது. ஜோத்பூர் அரசனான ராணாமல்லாவின் மகளை நான் மணந்தேன் எனில் அவளுக்குப் பிறக்கும் மகனே இந்த நாட்டை ஆள்வான்” என்றான்.
இப்படிக் கூறினால் சந்தா உடனே அவளை மணக்கச் சம்மதிப்பான் என்று எண்ணிய லாக்காவிற்கு இப்போது உரிய பதிலை சந்தா வீரத்தோடு கூறினான்: “தந்தையே! உங்கள் பாதத்தைத் தொட்டு வணங்கி இதைக் கூறுகிறேன். எனது புதிய தாய்க்குப் பிறக்கும் மகனே சித்தூரை ஆள்வான். நான் அவனுக்குக் காலம் முழுவதும் துணையாக இருந்து பணிவிடை புரிவேன். இது சத்தியம்” என்றான்.
அனைவரும் திடுக்கிட்டனர்; அவனது சபதம் கேட்டு பிரமித்தனர்.
ஐம்பது வயது லாக்காவிற்கும் ஜோத்பூர் ராணாமல்லாவின் 12 வயது மகளுக்கும் திருமணம் நடந்தது.
பின்னர் உரிய காலத்தில் அவள் ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றாள்.
அவனுக்கு முகுலன் என்று பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டது.
முகுலனுக்கு ஐந்து வயது ஆகும் போது கயாவை முஸ்லீம்கள் தாக்கினர்.
இதைக் கேட்ட சித்தூர் அரசன் அதைத் தடுக்கப் படையுடன் செல்ல விழைந்தான்.
மகனை அழைத்த அவன்; “சந்தா! இப்போது கயா நோக்கிச் செல்கிறேன். ஆனால் பெரும் படையை எதிர்த்துப் போரிட வேண்டியிருப்பதால் திரும்புவது சந்தேகம் தான். முகுலனுக்கு நீ என்ன செய்யப்போகிறாய்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
“தந்தையே! அவனே சித்தூர் அரசன்” என்று கூறிய சந்தா அவனுக்கு மகுடம் சூட்ட ஏற்பாடு செய்யலாம் என்றான்.
ஆனால் லாக்காவிற்கு இது சரியென்று படவில்லை. ஐந்து வயது சிறுவன் எப்படி ஒரு நாட்டை ஆள முடியும்?
ஆனால் சந்தா உறுதியாக இருந்து முகுலனுக்கு மகுடன் சூட்டினான்.
எதிர்பார்த்தபடி லாக்கா திரும்பி வரவில்லை; போரில் அவன் வீர மரணம் எய்தினான்.
முகுலனுக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருந்து சந்தா செய்த ஆட்சி அனைவராலும் பாராட்டப்பட்டது. அனைவரும் அவனைப் புகழ்ந்தனர்.
முகுலனின் அன்னைக்கு இப்போது ஒரு சந்தேகம் தோன்றியது.
இப்படி உறுதுணை என்று சொல்லி தானே அரசாட்சியை சந்தா கைப்பற்றி விடுவானோ?
அன்னையின் இந்த எண்ணத்தை ஒருவாறாக அறிந்த சந்தா மிகவும் வருத்தப்பட்டான்.
நேராக அவளிடம் சென்றான்: “அன்னையே! சித்தூரை விட்டு இன்றே நான் செல்கிறேன். இது உங்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி அளிக்கும்; உங்கள் சந்தேகத்தையும் போக்கி விடும். விடை தாருங்கள். ஆனால் என்றேனும் எனது உதவி தேவை எனில் செய்தி அனுப்புங்கள். உடனடியாக ஓடோடி வந்து உங்களுக்குத் தேவையானதைச் செய்வேன்” என்றான். சித்தூரை விட்டு அன்றே அவன் அகன்றான்.
சந்தா சென்றவுடன் முகுலனின் அன்னை தனது சகோதரனை ஜோத்பூரிலிருந்து வரவழைத்து அரசாட்சியில் தனக்கு உதவுமாறு வேண்டினாள். அவன் வந்தான்.
பின்னர் ராணா மல்லாவே இன்னும் பல அரசு அதிகாரிகளை சித்தூருக்கு அனுப்பினான். இப்போது சித்தூரின் மீது அவனுக்குப் பேராசை பிறந்தது. அதையும் தானே கைப்பற்றி ஆண்டால் என்ன?
இந்த எண்ணம் தோன்றியவுடன் தன் மகளுக்குப் பிறந்த முகுலனைக் கொல்ல சதித் திட்டம் தீட்டலானான்.
இதை அறிந்த முகுலனின் அன்னை – ராணா மல்லாவின் சொந்த மகள் -மிகவும் வேதனையுற்றாள்.
இப்போது என்ன செய்வது? அவளுக்குச் சந்தாவின் நினைவு வந்தது.
உடனடியாக அவனுக்குச் செய்தி அனுப்பி, “உடனே வந்து தன்னையும் முகுலனையும் சித்தூர் அரசையும் காப்பாற்றுமாறு” வேண்டினாள்.
செய்தியைப் பெற்றவுடன் சந்தா நேராகச் சித்தூர் விரைந்தான்.
ராணா மல்லாவை அடக்க அனைத்து ஏற்பாடுகளையும் மேற்கொண்டான்.
ராணா மல்லாவையும் அவனுடன் சேர்ந்த அனைவரையும் கொன்றான். சித்தூர் ராணா மல்லாவிடமிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டது. ராணா மல்லாவின் மகன் போதாஜி சித்தூரை விட்டு ஓடி விட்டான்.
ராணா முகுலனுக்கு இறுதி வரை சந்தா உதவி செய்தான்.
சந்தாவின் சரிதம் சித்தூர் வரலாற்றில் பொன்னேடுகளால் பொறிக்கப்பட்ட சரிதம் ஆயிற்று.

Literary talents are not confined to the members of the Brahmana and Kshatriya class. A Shudra woman became much reputed as the writer of a socio political composition in Kannada. Her name was Honnamma and she probably belonged to Yelanduur in Karnataka. She was working in the palace of Mysore king Chikka Devaraja. She was evidently the favourite maidservant of the chief queen Devaajammani. She was educated at the instance of the queen by a well known scholar proficient in the Vedas and the Vedanta , who was also the author of a drama called ‘Mitravinda Govinda.’
This teacher Alasingaaraachaarya , was evidently so pleased with the ability of his pupil that he called her the Goddess of Charming Literature – sarasa saahitya da vara devataa- this praise of a pupil by a teacher impressed the king so much he told his queen to get a literary piece written by Honnamma. Following this she wrote ‘Hadibadeya Dharma’ ,which deals with the duties of a chaste woman. This book has become so popular that verses from it are sung even today. It is also of value from the point of view of history, since it gives the genealogy of the Mysore kings up to the seventeenth century.

CHELUVAAMBAA
Among the later poetesses of Karnataka , Cheluvambaa was a popular poetess. She was the queen of Mysore kKng Dodda Krishna Raja. She is reputed as the author of a long poem called V’aramandi Kalyaana’. She has also written lullaby songs on the greatness of the deity Venkatachala of Tirupati and on the Goddess aAamelumanga. She has in addition written a prose commentary on the ‘Tulaa kKaveri Mahaatmyaa’. She states that she wrote the delightful Varamandii Kalyaana at the command of her husband. Her style is very mellifluous. She flourished about 1725 CE.

HELAVANAKATTE GIRIYAMMA
GIRIYAMMAA from Helavakatte was a Brahmana poetess. She is remembered for her devotional poetry , and some of her well known poems deal with such popular themes as the marriage of Sita , the stories of Chandrahasa and Uddalaka. Besides these, she composed a number of songs which are quite popular even today. She was a devotee of lord Renganatha
A point of interest regarding these songs is that even the ragas are specified by her. We can recognise her songs by the words ‘Helavanakatte Rangayya’ that occurs at the end of the pieces. All her works are in Kannada. Tradition says that she lived in the village of Komaaranahalli near Harihaa in Karnataka about 250 years ago.

1992ம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி மாதம் நான் தினமணியில் எழுதிய மூன்று பழைய விஷயங்கள்
1.பிரிட்டிஷ் மஹாராணி இரண்டாம் எலிசபெத் (Queen Elizabeth II) – இன்னும் பதவியில் நீடிக்கிறார். விக்டோரியா மகாராணியின் 64 ஆண்டு ஆட்சி சாதனையை முறியடித்த பின்னர் பதவி விலகி இளவரசர் சார்லசுக்கு வழிவிடுவார் என்று நம்பப்பட்டது . ஆனால் இப்போது அவர் 67 ஆண்டுகளாக பதவியில் உள்ளார். தற்கால உலகில் நீண்ட காலம் ஆடசி செய்யும் ராணி இவர்தான்

ஜேன் பாண்டா (Jane Fonda) வின் மணம் முறிந்தது.
மூன்றாவது கணவரான டெட்டுடன் 2001 வரை வாழ்ந்தார்.
பின்னர் நாலாவது கணவராக ரிசர்ட் பெறி வந்தார். அவர்கள் திருமண வாழ்வு 2009ல் துவங்கி 2017ல் முடிந்தது. இப்போது ஜேனுக்கு வயது 82.
