திருப்பதியில் பாலாஜி வெங்கடாசலபதிக்கு நடக்கும் பூஜைகள் பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி நடப்பதில்லை; தவறாக நடத்தப்படுகிறது’ என கூறி தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட மனு தொடர்பாக விளக்கம் கேட்டு, திருலை திருப்பதி தேவஸ்தானத்துக்கு உச்ச நீதிமன்றம், ‘நோட்டீஸ்’ அனுப்பியுள்ளது.
ஆந்திர மாநிலம் திருப்பதியில் உள்ள ஏழுமலையான் கோவிலை, திருமலை திருப்பதி தேவஸ்தானம் நிர்வகித்து வருகிறது. ஆந்திர உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில், பக்தர் ஒருவர் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், ‘திருப்பதியில் பாலாஜி வெங்கடாசலபதிக்கு அபிஷேக சேவை, தோமாலா சேவை, ஆர்ஜித் பிரம்மோற்சவம் உட்பட பல பூஜைகள் பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி நடத்தப்படுவதில்லை. ‘தவறாகவும் நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. இதை தடுக்க வேண்டும்’ எனக்கூறி மனு தாக்கல் செய்திருந்தார்.
இம்மனுவை தள்ளுபடி செய்த உயர் நீதிமன்றம், ‘திருப்பதி தேவஸ்தானத்தின் விதிமுறைகளிலும், அதன் நடவடிக்கைகளிலும் தலையிட முடியாது’ என உத்தரவிட்டது. இதையடுத்து, அந்த பாலாஜி பக்தர் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் மேல் முறையீடு செய்தார்.
இந்த மனு, தலைமை நீதிபதி ரமணா, நீதிபதிகள் சூர்யகாந்த், ஹீமாகோலி ஆகியோர் அடங்கிய அமர்வு முன் நேற்று விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது. மனுதாரர் தரப்பில் ஆஜரான வழக்கறிஞர், ‘தங்கள் தரப்பு வாதத்தை முழுமையாக கேட்க வேண்டும்’ என, கோரிக்கை விடுத்தார். அப்போது தலைமை நீதிபதி ரமணா தெலுங்கிலேயே பதில் கூறினார்.
அதன் விபரம்:நான், என் குடும்பத்தினர், இங்குள்ள அனைவரும், பாலாஜி வெங்கடாசலபதி மீது மிகவும் பக்தி கொண்டவர்கள். தனக்கு நடக்க வேண்டிய பூஜை உட்பட அனைத்து வழிபாடுகளும், சரியான முறையில் நடக்கவில்லை என்றால், அதை ஏழுமலையானே பொறுத்துக் கொள்ள மாட்டார். அவருக்கான பூஜைகளும், வழிபாடுகளும் பாரம்பரிய முறைப்படி தான் நடக்க வேண்டும் என அனைத்து பக்தர்களும் விரும்புகின்றனர்.
எனவே, தேவஸ்தானத்தின் வழக்கறிஞர், மனுதாரரின் கேள்விகளுக்கு ஒரு வாரத்துக்குள் விளக்கம் அளித்து, அறிக்கை தாக்கல் செய்ய வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்,.விசாரணை, வரும் 6- ம் தேதிக்கு ஒத்திவைக்கப்பட்டது.

தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை, அர்ச்சகர் நியமனம் – அரசுக்கு எதிராக சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட்டில் சுப்ரமணியசுவாமி மனு
தமிழக கோயில்களில் தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்வது மற்றும் அனைத்து சாதியினரும் அர்ச்சகர்களாக நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டதற்கு எதிராக உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் புதிய ரிட் மனு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.
தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள கோயில்களில் அன்னைத் தமிழில் அர்ச்சனை செய்யும் திட்டத்தை மாநில அரசு அறிவித்து அதற்கான அரசாணையும் வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
சுப்ரமணிய சுவாமி தரப்பில் ஆஜரான வழக்கறிஞர் விஷேஷ் கனோடியா என்பவர் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் புதிய ரிட் மனு ஒன்றை தாக்கல் செய்துள்ளார்.
கோவில்களில் அனைத்து ஜாதியினரும் அர்ச்சகர் ஆவது அடிப்படை உரிமை என்றாலும் அர்ச்சகர்களை அரசு நியமிக்கக் கூடாது என்றும் கோவில் நிர்வாகம்தான் அர்ச்சகர்களை நியமிக்கும் நடவடிக்கையை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
கோவில் சொத்துக்களின் உரிமையாளராக அரசு இருக்க முடியாது. இதனால் சமயம் சார்ந்த செயல்களில் அரசு தலையிடக் கூடாது. கோவில் சம்பிரதாயத்தினர்தான் தங்கள் தேவைகளை நிவர்த்தி செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். பணியாளர்களை நியமித்துக்கொள்ளும் விவகாரத்தில் அரசு தலையிடாமல் இருக்க உத்தரவிட வேண்டும் என மனுவில் வலியுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்தியாவிலேயே முதல் முறையாக பக்தர்களுக்கு தேங்காய் தண்ணீர் பிரசாதம் வழங்கும் எந்திரம்
தஞ்சையை அடுத்த புன்னைநல்லூரில் மாரியம்மன் கோவில் உள்ளது. மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற இந்த கோவிலுக்கு செவ்வாய், வெள்ளி மற்றும் ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமைகளில் பக்தர்கள் கூட்டம் அதிக அளவில் வரும். இந்த கோவிலில் பக்தர்கள் நேர்த்திக்கடனாக தேங்காய் உடைத்து வழிபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
தேங்காய் தண்ணீரை கோவிலுக்கு வரும் பக்தர்களுக்கு பிரசாதமாக வழங்கும் வகையில நவீன எந்திரத்தை தஞ்சையில் உள்ள மத்திய அரசின் இந்திய உணவு பதன தொழில்நுட்ப கழகத்தினர் வடிவமைத்தனர்.
ரூ.7 லட்சம் மதிப்பில் தாங்கள் வடிவமைத்த எந்திரத்தை புன்னைநல்லூர் மாரியம்மன்கோவிலில் நிறுவினர். இந்த கருவியை மத்திய மந்திரி பிரகலாத் சிங் பட்டேல் பொதுமக்கள் பயன்பாட்டுக்கு செப்டம்பர் 27 – ம் தேதி இயக்கி வைத்தார்.
பின்னர் இந்திய உணவு பதன தொழில்நுட்ப கழக இயக்குனர் அனந்தராமகிருஷ்ணன் நிருபர்களிடம் கூறியதாவது:-
தேங்காய் தண்ணீரில் ஊட்டச்சத்துகள் அதிகம் நிறைந்துள்ளது. இந்த தேங்காய் தண்ணீரை பொதுமக்கள் பயன்படுத்தும் வகையில் விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த முயற்சிகளை எடுத்து வருகிறோம். அதன்படி கோவில்களில் பொதுமக்கள் தேங்காய் உடைத்து வழிபடும்போது, அந்த தேங்காயி்ல் இருந்து வெளியேறும் நீர் அப்பகுதியில் வீணாகுவதோடு, கழிவுநீர் போல் தேங்கி துர்நாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. இதனை தடுக்க வேண்டும் எனக் கருதி இந்த நவீன கருவியை வடிவமைத்தோம்.
புன்னைநல்லூர் மாரியம்மன் கோவிலில் ஒரு நாளைக்கு குறைந்தபட்சம் 5 ஆயிரம் தேங்காய்கள் உடைக்கப்படுகிறது. இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.

சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணி பார்த்தசாரதி கோயிலில் 20 கிலோ தங்கம் இருப்பதாக இந்து சமய அறநிலையத் துறை அறிவித்துள்ளது. கோயில்களில் பயன்படுத்தப்படாத பழைய, சேதமடைந்த தங்க நகைகளை உருக்கி தங்க கட்டிகளாக மாற்றப்படும் என அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள நிலையில் இந்த தகவல் வெளியாகியுள்ளது.
சென்னை: திருவல்லிக்கேணி பார்த்தசாரதி கோயில் இந்து சமய அறநிலையத்துறை கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ளது. இங்கு, பக்தர்கள் காணிக்கையாக பணம் மட்டுமல்ல தங்கம், வெள்ளி காணிக்கையாக செலுத்துவது வழக்கம். அவ்வாறு வரும் நகைகளை உண்டியல் திறக்கப்படும் போது, சேகரித்து அவற்றை பாதுகாப்பாக வைக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த நகைகள் முழுமையாக பயன்படுத்தாமல் அப்படியே வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
இந்த நகைகளை 6 மாதங்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை மதிப்பீடு செய்யப்பட வேண்டும். ஆனால், நகை சரிபார்ப்பு அலுவலர்கள் பற்றாக்குறை காரணமாக இந்த நகைகள் எப்போதாவது ஒருமுறை மட்டுமே ஆய்வு செய்து மறுமதிப்பீடு செய்யப்படுகிறது.
கோவில் நகைகளை உருக்கி வங்கிகளில் முதலீடு செய்யும் திட்டத்திற்கு பாரதீய ஜனதா கட்சி எதிர்ப்பு
‘கோவில் தங்க நகைகளை உருக்கி, வங்கிகளில் முதலீடு செய்து, அதில் கிடைக்கும் வட்டியை செலவு செய்வோம் என்பது சட்ட விரோதமானது’ என்று தமிழகபாரதீய ஜனதா கட்சி செய்தி தொடர்பாளர் நாராயணன் திருப்பதி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
அவரது அறிக்கை: பக்தர்கள் கோவிலுக்கு செலுத்தும் தங்க காணிக்கைகளை உருக்கி, அதை வங்கிகளில் தங்க பத்திரங்களாக மாற்றி, அதிலிருந்து கிடைக்கும் வட்டியை, மற்ற கோவில்கள் பராமரிப்புக்கு செலவு செய்வோம் என்பது சட்ட விரோதமானது. பக்தர்கள் தங்களின் வேண்டுதல் நிறைவேற செலுத்திய காணிக்கைகள், குறிப்பிட்ட கோவில்களின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு, நிர்வாகத்திற்கு பயன்பெற வேண்டும்.
அந்த வளத்தை பயன்படுத்தி, மற்ற கோவில்களுக்கு செலவு செய்வதற்கு, அரசுக்கு, அறநிலையத் துறைக்கு எந்த அதிகாரமும் இல்லை. கோவில்களுக்குஅறநிலையத்துறை தான் சொந்தக்காரர் என்பது போல, தி.மு.க.,அரசு செயல்படுவது, நம்பிக்கை துரோகம். உண்மையிலேயே அரசுக்கு, கோவில்கள் முன்னேற்றத்தில் அக்கறை இருந்தால், அரசின் வருமானத்தை பெருக்கி, அதை வைத்து செலவிட வேண்டும்.
திருப்பதி கோவிலில், இதுபோன்று செய்வதாக அமைச்சர் சேகர்பாபு சொல்லியிருப்பது, உண்மைக்கு புறம்பானது. இந்த அறமற்ற செயலை, தமிழக அரசு நிறுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

கர்நாடகத்தில் கட்டாய மத மாற்ற தடுப்புச்சட்டம்
கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தில் கட்டாய மதமாற்ற தடுப்பு சட்டத்தை கொண்டு வர பரீசிலிக்கப்படுவதாக அம்மாநில முதல்வர் பொம்மை தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இது குறித்து அவர் செய்தியாளர் சந்திப்பில் கூறியதாவது, மாநிலத்தில் மதமாற்றம் தூண்டுதலின் பேரிலோ அல்லது வலுகட்டாயமாகவோ நடைபெற்றால் அதற்கு உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என மாவட்ட நிர்வாகங்களுக்கு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக கூறினார்.
கர்நாடக மாநிலத்தின் வடக்கு பகுதியில் இருக்கும் கிராமத்தில் கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன் மதமாற்றம் முயற்சி செய்ய வந்த கும்பலின் வீடியோ ஒன்று வெளிவந்து அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியது.
இந்த வீடியோவில் பெண்களை வளையல் உள்ளிட்ட ஆபரணங்கள் அணிய கூடாது எனவும் மேலும் இந்த செயல் அரசாங்கதின் அனுமதி பெற்று நடைபெறுவதாகவும் கூறினர். இந்த வீடியோ சமூகவளைதளங்களில் பரவி பெரும் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
இதற்கிடையில் கடந்த வாரம் சட்டமன்றத்தில் உள்துறை அமைச்சர் அரேகா ஜானேந்திரா கட்டாய மதமாற்ற சட்டம் குறித்து பரிசீலித்து வருவதாக தெரிவித்தார்.
ஏற்கனவே உத்ரபிரதேசம், இமாச்சலப் பிரதேசம் மற்றும் மத்தியப் பிரதேசம் உள்ளிட்ட மாநிலங்களில் இந்த சட்டம் நடைமுறையில் உள்ளது. மேலும், அசாம், ஹரியான உள்ளிட்ட மாநிலங்களில் இந்த சட்டம் குறித்து பரிசீலித்து வருகின்றன.
மேலும், கட்டாய மதமாற்ற தடை சட்டம் மதங்களுக்கு இடையிலான திருமணத்தை தடுப்பதற்காக கொண்டு வரபடவில்லை மாறாக கட்டாய மதமாற்றத்தால் நடைபெறும் குற்றங்களை கண்டறியவே இந்த சட்டம் என் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
. இதனை எதிர்த்து கர்நாடக கத்தோலிக்க ஆயர்கள், பீட்டர் மச்சாடோ லைமையில் கர்நாடக முதல்வர் பசவ்ராஜ் பொம்மையை சந்தித்து மனு அளித்தனர். தாங்கள் மதமாற்றத்தில் ஈடுபடுவதில்லை என்றும், இந்த சட்டம் தேவையற்ற வகுப்புவாத பிரச்சனைகள், அமைதியின்மைக்கு வழிவகுக்கும் என்றும் கூறினர்.
கேரளாவில் முஸ்லிம்கள் நடத்தும் லவ் ஜிஹாத், போதைப்பொருள் ஜிஹாத் குறித்து அங்குள்ள கிறிஸ்தவ அமைப்புகளே கவலை தெரிவித்துள்ள சூழலில் மதமாற்ற தடுப்பு சட்டத்தை இவர்கள் ஏன் எதிர்க்கிறார்கள் என பல கேள்விகள் சமூக வலைத்தளங்களில் எழுப்பப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவிலில் தொழுகை -கர்நாடக அரசின் உத்தரவு செல்லாது
சிக்கமகளூரு தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவிலில் தொழுகை நடத்த அனுமதித்து முல்லாவை நியமனம் செய்து கர்நாடக அரசு பிறப்பித்த உத்தரவு செல்லாது என்று கர்நாடக ஐகோர்ட்டு தீர்ப்பு வழங்கியுள்ளது.
சிக்கமகளூருவில் பாபாபுடன்கிரி மலையில் தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவில் உள்ளது. அங்கு இந்து மற்றும் முஸ்லிம் மதத்தினர் பூஜை செய்கிறார்கள். அது இந்துக்களுக்கு சொந்தமானது என்று இந்துக்களும், முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு சொந்தமானது என்று முஸ்லிம்களும் உரிமை கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள். இதுதொடர்பான வழக்கில் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கிய சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட்டு, அந்த கோவில் யாருக்கு சொந்தம் என்பது குறித்து மாநில அரசு உரிய முடிவு எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று உத்தரவிட்டது.
கர்நாடக ஐகோர்ட்டின் ஓய்வுபெற்ற நீதிபதி நாகமோகன்தாஸ் தலைமையிலான உயர்மட்ட குழு பரிந்துரைப்படி, தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவிலில் முஸ்லிம் முறைப்படி தொழுகை நடத்த முல்லாவை (முஜாவர்) நியமனம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று மாநில அரசுக்கு பரிந்துரை செய்தது. அதன்படி கடந்த 2018-ம் ஆண்டு அந்த கோவிலில் தொழுகை நடத்த முல்லாவை நியமனம் செய்து கர்நாடக அரசு உத்தரவிட்டது.
மாநில அரசின் உத்தரவை எதிர்த்து தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவில் மேம்பாட்டு குழு, கர்நாடக ஐகோர்ட்டில் மனு தாக்கல் செய்தது. அந்த மனு மீது விசாரணை நடைபெற்று வந்தது. நீதிபதி தினேஷ்குமார் இந்த வழக்கின் தீர்ப்பை அறிவித்தார். அதில் தத்தாத்ரேயா கோவிலில் தொழுகை நடத்த முல்லாவை நியமனம் செய்து கர்நாடக அரசு பிறப்பித்த உத்தரவு செல்லாது என்று தீர்ப்பில் கூறியுள்ளார்.

SC seeks reply of Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam on plea alleging observance of ‘irregular’ rituals
The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the ‘Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam’ to respond to a plea of a devotee of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy alleging ‘wrongful and irregular procedure’ in performing ‘puja’ there.
A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana was hearing an appeal of a devotee against the order of the Andhra Pradesh High Court refusing to entertain the PIL by observing that the “procedure of conducting rituals is the exclusive domain of the Devasthanam and cannot be a matter of adjudication unless it impacts secular or civil rights of others”.
The top court initially expressed reluctance in entertaining the plea by observing, “Can we interfere into it (rituals) as to when and how ‘puja’ has to be conducted…this is the Constitutional court and not a ‘kuchehri’ (lower court) where you can say anything.”
The bench, also comprising Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli, later sought a response from the counsel of the temple management about the decision on the representation of rituals made by the petitioner and devotee Srivari Daadaa.
During the brief hearing, the CJI also conversed in Telugu with petitioner Srivari Daadaa and asked him to be patient as being the devotee of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy and not threaten the apex court’s registry officials for urgent listing of his plea.
Justice Ramana said he along with his brother and sister Judges are all devotees of Lord Balaji and wanted the rituals as per traditions. “We are all devotees of Balaji and expect that all rituals will be conducted according to the traditions,” the CJI said.
The PIL had prayed for the issuance of direction to ‘Devasthanam’ to rectify the method of holding the rituals.

Karnataka ‘seriously’ considering law to prevent religious conversion
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, on Tuesday, said that the state government is mulling bringing in an anti-conversion law to prevent religious conversions either by force or through inducement in the state.
“Such things (conversions) are happening here and there. Couple of days ago I gave appropriate directions to district administrations not to allow any religious conversion through inducement or by force, as it is illegal,” Bommai said.
The Chief Minister was responding to a question on alleged incidents of religious conversions in Kalaburagi and Byadarahalli here.
“As several such incidents are happening, we are seriously considering a law against religious conversion through inducement or by force,” he told reporters.

Several BJP-ruled states like including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh already have laws to regulate forcible religious conversion.

Kerala Muslim woman presents her Krishna painting before deity
Jasna Salim, a Muslim woman from Kozhikode, had gained attention through her Lord Krishna paintings a few years ago. On Sunday, the 28-year-old accomplished a long-cherished dream — to present a Lord Krishna painting before the deity. Though she has painted over 500 pictures of Little Krishna over the past six years, she had never received a chance to present her painting inside a temple, until now.
“It was a big dream of mine to see Lord Krishna’s idol and to present my painting before the deity. I’m delighted to have been able to fulfil that wish at the Ulanadu Sree Krishna Swamy temple in Pandalam. I have no words to express my happiness, and my gratitude to the temple authorities,” Jasna said.
The fulfilment of her wish came about after a devotees’ group approached her seeking an artwork to be gifted to the Ulanadu Sree Krishna Swamy temple as her paintings of little Krishna sitting with a butter pot had gone viral on social media.
Jasna, a mother of two, is not a trained artist. In fact, she struggled with even routine drawing during her schooldays.
“It was very striking. I’m the youngest of three sisters in our family. Right from childhood, my parents and other family members called me ‘Kanna’ fondly. So when I saw the picture of Lord Krishna, it ignited an urge in me to paint one such picture,” said Jasna. She gifted her first painting to one of her Hindu friends.
“Later, the family told me that a lot of good changes had happened in their lives after they placed my painting inside their home. That inspired me, and thereafter many people approached me for the Lord Krishna paintings,” Jasna said.
People from different walks of life have bought her paintings.
“I have been gifting my paintings of Lord Krishna to the Guruvayur temple for the past six years, during Vishu and Sree Krishna Jayanti celebrations. I can only paint one image to perfection — Little Krishna sitting with a butter pot. And everyone is demanding that image. I wish I could gift a Lord Krishna painting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi one day,” Jasna said.

35 year old Mahant Balbir Giri is set to become one of the youngest heads of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP).
Office-bearers of Shri Panchayati Akhara Niranjani have decided to anoint Mahant Balbir Giri as the next chief of Baghambari Math.
He will have to get approval for all the major decisions pertaining to Math by a five-member administrative body.
He would be formally anointed at a coronation ceremony on October 5.
Mahant Balbir Giri, 35, has been the most trusted disciple of Mahant Narendra Giri for the past 15 years. He hails from Uttarakhand and had left his family in 2005 to take sanyas. He was given diksha by Mahant Narendra Giri at Haridwar

TDB to deposit 500kg gold in Reserve Bank, to get Rs 5 crore interest annually
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) will deposit about 500kg of gold in the Reserve Bank of India’s gold monetisation scheme. The board has just completed a massive exercise to catalogue the stock lying at various temples and strongrooms.
An approximate annual return of Rs 5 crore is expected from the deposit. The board will go ahead with the plan after obtaining sanction from the High Court. “The inventorying is over and a reverification is being done now. The preliminary assessment showed that about 500kg of gold can be spared for the monetisation scheme. It does not include ornaments or items of ritualistic significance,” TDB president N Vasu told The New Indian Express .
The gold identified for the scheme are mostly valuables donated by devotees in the form of coins, ornaments and figurines.
The Covid pandemic caused severe stress to the board, with its revenue — mostly collection from the 1,200-odd temples under its fold — declining drastically. The board now depends on government grants to meet the salary, pension and establishment costs, which fall in `40-`45 lakh range a month.

VHP presses for ‘national book’ status to Bhagavad Gita,
The national secretary of the Visva Hindu Parishad Radha Krishna Manodi on Thursday said that a delegation of 15 MPs will soon call on President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to submit a memorandum in support of according the status of national book to the Bhagavad Gita and making necessary changes in the school syllabus.
“Vishwa Gita Sansthan seeks to draw attention of the government on the usefulness of the Gita in providing intellectual prowess to society. We have sought time from the President and Prime Minister for wider discussions on our key points in gaining recognition for the Gita,” he said.
The VHP leader, who is also the founder of the World Gita Foundation, emphasized that the Gita should be made mandatory for teachers’ training to sensitise them about their duties to the students,”

Papua New Guinea denies permission for Durga Puja
Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning, who is also the nation’s designated Pandemic Controller, has denied permission to the nation’s Hindus from holding Durga Puja prayers.
The reason for withholding permission is as bigoted as it gets.
“Your request has been considered and we note that this is a form of idol worshipping which is morally inappropriate and against our Christian values. As such, APPROVAL IS NOT GRANTED to host this event,” the letter addressed to Mr. Puspendu Maity, President of Port Moresby Durga Puja Committee, says.
The letter signed by Manning was shared by Benn Packham, Foreign affairs and defence correspondent of The Australian. After receiving criticism, Manning has now back-tracked and issued an apology letter, saying the previous statement was “a grave and unfortunate error”.
Even though Manning clearly signed the original letter, he now claims he was not the author and he respects religious freedoms. “I humbly seek your forgiveness for this unfortunate matter,” he says.
Last month, Manning had banned all flights from Bharat, accusing the Bharatiya government of “deliberately” participating in “deception” that compromised the island nation’s safety and security. The Bharatiya embassy in Papua New Guinea (PNG) denied his claims .
PNG is an island nation adjacent to Indonesia and just to the north of Australia.
Similar anti-Hindu bigotry can be found in Fiji, another Christian-majority island nation in the Asia-Pacific region. A spate of temple vandalisms with racial slurs in 2017 had renewed fears among Fijian Hindus, who are all descendants of indentured laborers brought by British colonials.

REBIRTH AND REINCARNATION IN RIG VEDA! (Post No.10163)
(A reader has sent me a question asking whether it is true that Hindus got the concept of Rebirth and Karma theory from Buddhism and Jainism. Here is my reply; I will give it in Tamil as well)
Rig Veda is the oldest book in the world dated between 1500 BCE and 4000 BCE. It has references to rebirth, and transmigration of soul. Buddhism and Jainism borrowed it from Hindus and blown it out of proportion.
Hindus believed in four values Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Other oriental religionists followed them, but their scriptures don’t approve them in crystal clear terms. Hindus did value them proportionately and practised them in four stages of life Brahmacharya, Grahastha asrama, Vanaprastha and Sanyasa. If we need examples, we have lots in the Mahabharata, oldest and longest epic in the world, and 2000 year old Sangam Tamil literature.
If anyone says that these concepts of Rebirth, Karma Theory and Reincarnation came from Buddhism or Jainism, that means they did not study Brhad Aranyaka Upanishad (The Big Forest Treatise). Buddha took the words Nirvana, Karma etc from this Upanishad which is dated 850 BCE even by the white skinned, Yellow eyed/jaundice eyed, ill motived, non-believers of the West.
Before giving evidence from the Vedas and Upanishads I wanted to alert Hindus about dating. Hindu calendars very clearly date the beginning of Kaliyuga in 3102 BCE. Hindu inscriptions support this in at least two or three very early inscriptions. Bhagavad Gita and its source book Mahabharata give thousands of references to rebirth and Karma theory. If we don’t believe the Hindu dating and believe the date given by Anti Hindu non -believers, it is our fault.
But I admit that all Hindu scriptures were ‘updated’ in language, style and contents from time to time, but yet we can clearly see the original idea or concept in it. Foreigners took the latest updated word and dated them. But they did not do it to Hebrew or Greek literature or Sumerian or Egyptian literature. If anyone studies them, we can see there is controversy in every literature. When we compare the volume of such literature there is nothing in Greek or Hebrew before the period of Brhad Aranyaka Upanishad. Vedas were very old compared to them.
Before going any further, I wanted to give you one more bit of information. There are many funeral hymns in the Rig Veda. No one could understand them fully. White skinned people added notes now and then such as ‘they are obscure’, ‘the meaning is not certain’; ‘they may be taken from elsewhere and attached here’; ‘they are jumbled’, ‘they may be later additions’. None of them are the words of Sayana, but they alleged that they follow Sayana in translations.
Sayana himself came just 700 years before our time. But Vedas are at least 3000 years before him. No one could understand them fully.

Evidence from the Rig Veda
The word ‘Amrtam’ occurs in the Rig Veda hundreds of times. The meaning is very clear. It gives eternal life. Where ? You are with God or in Heaven for ever. That means you are not reborn; you are out of the Samsara Chakra- the cycle/wheel of birth and death.

‘Rebirth is even offered as a reward’ – says Satapata Brahmana (SB. 1-5-3-14); dated 800 BCE by foreigners; well before Buddha and Mahavira.
Later Puranas claim that even the Devas (angels in the heaven) long for a life on earth, in the holy country of Bharat.

Agni consumes only the body, and the departed soul, ‘the unborn part’ (RV. 10-16-4) issues forth as from the father or mother (SB 2-2-4-8) furnished with a body, all lustrous (RV.10-56-1) and free from imperfections (Atharva Veda. A.V.6-120-3)

“There are eternal light and swift waters; there movement is unrestrained; there is spirit food and satiety; there are joy, glee, gladness and the fulfilment of all desires.

You earn more punya – currency notes given for your good deeds- and save them in your account; you will be using this currency in Heaven.
Merits of sacrificial and charitable acts accrue to the departed in heaven (RV.10-14-8; VS 18-64).
Karma appears in AV.

Rebirth in RV
Macdonell sees probable germ of metempsychosis ( the transmigration at death of the soul of a human being or animal into a new body of the same or a different species.) in RV 10-16-3 where the departed spirit is asked to go, among other places, to the plants and stay there with bodies.
Growing belief in Rebirth becomes evident in the Brahmanas (SB and TB).
Words like ‘Punar Mrtyu’ ( re death) and ‘Punar asu’ ( coming to life again)
, ‘Punar Aayaath’ (rebirth) in GB.
All brahmanas are dated before Buddha and Mahavira.
Departed soul is asked ‘to come home again’ in RV.10-14-8
And Agni is supplicated to see that he may assume life and obtain progeny in RV.10-16-5

Quotes in Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita
A lot of quotes about Karma and Rebirth are in the Upanishads. Bhagavad Gita summarises it beautifully well in its second chapter. Most of the Hindu devotees know them. Sangam Tamil literature, mostly secular in contents, which came after all these books, also refer to rebirth, Punya, Papa, Hell, Heaven etc. Later Tamil Devotional scriptures have innumerable references to karma theory and rebirth.
Even beggars’ folk songs refer to them and they go from house to hose or street to street begging for alms!

Warning to sceptics
Hindu literature is vast; the religious scriptures available in Sanskrit, are incomparably vast. If we draw a line in 850 BCE, there is none in other religion. You may find them in ‘Museum Religions’ or ‘Fossil Religions’ such as Sumerian, Babylonian and Mayan. Coming to Hebrew Bible or scriptures , they are later than the 20,000 mantras of four Vedas. And unlike Vedas, they have contradictory and conflicting matter. We know about the Dead Sea scrolls and the untranslated Greek Bible in the British Library. If it is translated, they fear a Pandora’s Box will be opened. We also know that Moses , who is the foundation rock of three Semitic religions, has no archaeological or historical proof. Hindus have their proof in Sarasvati- Indus River Bank Civilization (Harappan) from 2500 -1700 BCE.

ராம்நாராயண் சௌத்ரி என்ற காந்திஜியின் அணுக்கத் தொண்டர் தனது அனுபவங்களை BAPU, AS I SAW HIM என்ற நூலில் தொகுத்துத் தந்துள்ளார்.

உழையுங்கள் – நீரையும், உணவையும் பெறுங்கள்!
காந்திஜியின் ஆசிரமத்திற்குச் சில பேர் வருகை புரிந்திருந்தனர். நேரம் நண்பகல். அவர்களுக்கு ஒரே தாகம். ராம்நாராயண் சௌத்ரி அங்கிருந்தார். அவரிடம் அவர்கள் குடிக்கத் தண்ணீர் கேட்டனர். உடனே கிணற்றிலிருந்து ஒரு பக்கெட் நீரை எடுத்து அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார் ராம்நாராயண். உடனே அங்கிருந்த அவரது ஆசிரம சகாக்கள் அப்படிக் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது என்றும அது ஆசிரம விதிகளுக்கு முரணானது என்றும் கூறினர். ராம் நாராயணனுக்கோ அப்படி தாகம் கொண்டவர்களுக்கு நீர் வழங்குவது ஒரு சேவையாகவே தோன்றியது. இதில் என்ன முரண்பாடு?!- என்று அவருக்குத் தோன்றியது. மதியம் காந்திஜை வழக்கம் போல நடைப் பயிற்சிக்காக வெளியே சென்ற சமயம் அவருடன் ராம்நாராயணனும் கூடவே சென்றார்.
அப்போது இப்படி நீர் வழங்கக் கூடாது என்ற சட்டம் ஏன் என்றும் கேட்டார். உடனே மஹாத்மா பதில் கூறினார்: “ நாம் நம்மால் முடிந்த அளவு நம் உடலினால் ஆன சேவையை நோயுற்றவர்களுக்கும் ஒரு வேலையைச் செய்ய முடியாதபடி இருக்கும் செயலிழந்தவர்களுக்கும் தான் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஆனால் நல்ல உடல் வலிமை கொண்டவர்களுக்கு அப்படி இலவ்சமாக உணவையும் நீரையும் கொடுப்பது என்பது அவர்களிடம் சோம்பேறித்தனத்தை வளர்க்கும், பிச்சை எடுப்பதைத் தோற்றுவிக்கும், மனித கௌரவத்தைக் குறைப்பதாகவும் ஆகும். ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனையும் சுய தேவையைப் பூர்த்தி செய்யக் கூடியவராக ஆக்க வேண்டும். ஆகவே தான் கிணற்றின் அருகே ஒரு பக்கட்டையும் கயிறையும் வைத்துள்ளேன். தேவையானோர், அதிலிருந்து நீரை எடுத்துத் தாகத்தைத் தணித்துக் கொள்ளலாம். உணவும் இங்கு அப்படித்தான். ஏதேனும் வேலை செய்தவருக்கே இங்கு உணவு – அவர் செய்த வேலைக்காக!
இன்று தமிழக அரசு இலவசமாக அள்ளிக் கொடுத்து மக்களை சோம்பேறிகளாக ஆக்குவதையும் காந்திஜி மிகவும் வலியுறுத்திய மது விலக்கை அமல் படுத்தாமல் குடிகார நாடாக தமிழ்நாட்டை ஆக்கியதையும் நினைத்துப் பார்த்தால் வேதனையாக இருக்கிறதல்லவா!

ராம்நாராயண் ஆன்மீக சம்பந்தமான ஒரு கேள்வியை காந்திஜியிடம் கேட்டார். அதற்கு விரிவாக அவர் பதில் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர் ஒவ்வொரு வரியை முடித்தவுடனும் ‘ஜி’, ஜி என்று ராம்நாராயண் தான் கேட்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்தி மரியாதையாக சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். கொஞ்ச நேரம் ஆனது. காந்திஜி சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்ததை சிறிது கவனிக்கத் தவறி விட்டார் ராம்நாராயண் அல்லது காந்திஜி சொல்லியது அவருக்குப் புரியவில்லை. அவர் ஜி என்று சொல்லவில்லை. காந்திஜியும் பேச்சை நிறுத்தி விட்டார். “என்ன ஆச்சு?” என்று கேட்டார் அவர்.
“ஒரு சந்தேகம் உங்கள் மனதில் எழுந்தது என்றால் அல்லது நான் சொன்னதை உங்களால் சரியாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியவில்லை என்றால் நீங்கள் பேசாமல் இருக்கக் கூடாது. என்னைக் கேட்க வேண்டும். அறிவை அடைய கீதை மூன்று படிகளை வெளிப்படுத்தி இருக்கிறது. எளிமை, பிரஸ்னம் அதாவது கேள்விகள் கேட்பது, சேவை.
கேள்விகளைக் கேட்க ஒருவர் தயங்கவே கூடாது. விடையில் திருப்தி கொள்ளாத வரை கேட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்க வேண்டும். மௌனமாக இருப்பது கூட ஒருவகையில் பொய் தான். கவனமாக ஒருவர் கேட்க வேண்டும். இல்லையெனில் அது இங்கிதம் இல்லாமல் இருப்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.”
பாபுஜி மிக்க பொறுமையுடன் ஒருவருக்கு அறிவைப் புகட்டுவார். அதே சமயம் கேட்கும் ஒருவர் கவனத்துடன் இருபப்தையும் வலியுறுத்துவார்.
நைமிசாரண்யத்தில் முனிவர்கள் சுகரை அணுகி கேள்விகளைக் கேட்கும் போது நடக்கும் சம்வாதத்தை மேற்படி சம்பவம் நினைவு படுத்துகிறது. கீதையும் பரிப்ரஸ்னம் என்பதை வலியுறுத்துகிறது – அதாவது மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கேட்டுத் தெளிவு பெறுதல்!
அடடா! மஹாத்மாவின் வாழ்க்கை தான் எத்துணை எளிமையானது, அதில் தான் எத்தனை பேர் கேள்வி கேட்டுப் பதிலைப் பெற்று அறிவை அடைந்தனர். அவர் தான் எப்படிப்பட்ட சேவையை உலகினருக்கு அளித்தார்!
