In my two articles about Soma rasa (please see the links below) I have given the following points:

Foreigners account about the identification of Soma plant is wrong. Had they really identified it, they would have got the patent right and exported millions of bottles of Soma rasa (Soma juice) and made billions of dollars. Even today Muslims of Afghanistan cultivate opium and send them to different parts of the world and make loads of money.

Now I have got more interesting details from Zend Avesta, Zoroastrians Veda, and the ninth Mandala of Rig Veda. Before giving the details let me place some more arguments:

1.We knew for sure that the Vedic Soma Yaga was done for thousands of years. Is there any culture or race in the world which has a narcotic drug like this for such a long time and survived in good health?

2.If it is really a narcotic drug, the community or the race would have had its natural death.

3.Narcotic drugs lead to depression, violence etc. Has any one used drugs and avoided such after effects? In London, every week one youth is shot dead in drug related violence. In the Vedic literature, we have never seen any violence after drinking Soma rasa against one another.

  1. Is there any community in the world who sang about a plant and its juice and preserved the hymns for such a long time?

5.If Aryans came from outside why don’t we see Swayamvara, Mahabharata type of warfare, Asvamedha/Raja suya yajnas, caste systems etc. outside India?

The answer is simple. Soma rasa is not a narcotic drug. It is a rare plant which gave tremendous energy and boosted one’s health and increased one’s life span. It is in Zend Avesta. Vedic Hindus were the sons of the soil. They did not come from outside. When they went out of India they spread their culture.

Read the interesting points given below:-

In the Haoma (Soma) Yasht (hymn), Zarathustra(Zoroaster)  seeing the Haoma (Soma) plant addresses it in these words:

“O man! who art thou? In this physical world, I find you to be best, beautiful and of eternal life” and Haoma answers,

“I am who he wards off disease, squeeze me for drinking and chant my praises”.

In another place it is mentioned those who thus squeezed it and drank the squeezed liquid and chanted its praises are blessed with the best of health and progeny”

The above Zend Avesta verse gives us the following points

1.Soma gives long life 2.Soma gives health 3. Soma helps to get good children and 4. Soma wars off diseases.

I have already given what the Tamil inscription said about it: It purified the mind. In short it gave physical, mental and spiritual benefits.

Now more interesting comes from the three Vedas:

Ninth  Mandala of the Rig Veda contains all the hymns on Pavamana Soma. Nowhere in the world we see Mantras on narcotic drug in a religious book; so it is not a narcotic drug. If it is a drug like this the seers would have condemned it. Moreover, whether they condemn or not, the race would have exterminated itself by this time. But we see a continuous religion, Santana /Eternal religion for over 5000 years without any violence. So it is not a halucinative drug.

The Vedic seers praised the Soma as ‘The King’, ‘the guest’ etc.

1000 year Sacrifice

Foreigners were baffled and got confused when they saw 1000 yearlong Soma sacrifice. They couldn’t understand it. Normally it lasted for 12 years but they talked about 1000 year Yajna as well. Where in the world one drinks drug or alcohol for 12 years and survive? So it was not an intoxicating drug, but a miraculous and a rare herb brought by an “Eagle”. When we read that it was available in Iran (Zoroaster) and in Gangetic and Indus valley (Rig Veda and Yajur Veda) we are amazed at the influence of a single plant on such a vast geographical area. Taittiriya Samhita of Yajur Veda deals with Soma Yaga in Cantos 6 and 8.

Moreover, it is not a drug is proved from the rituals that were practised. Following is the ritual:

The first stage is buying the Soma plant with a  calf which was later snatched  away later from the seller. Because he same sellers bring them back the Soma we knew for sure it was only a ritual and they got good money.

If I am cheated by a business man I would not go back to him and would warn other colleagues as well. Foreigners could not explain why Soma was “brought by an eagle”. They were struggling hard and as usual wrote all the rubbish.

The second stage is it is placed on a cart and taken in procession like a honoured guest. Because they considered it a divine one.

The next stage is the pressing of Soma plant and getting the juice.

In the last stage they gave it to different Gods in cups that were named differently.

Any person who thinks logically knew that it was not a narcotic drug. If it is they would not name different cups and wait patiently. Riots would break out to grab the drug. Moreover, the same kick they could get from umpteen sources such as alcohol etc.

If it is a drug, no idiot would pour it into sacrificial fire and “waste it” for thousands of years. We knew that Soma Yajnas were conducted until very recently but with alternate plants.

If it is a hallucinate substance, 12 year long sacrifices can be 12 year long orgy of drug addicts. So all the foreign accounts are half baked write ups or deliberate propaganda against Vedic religion.

The soma plant increases fertility (YV 6-5-8-5) according to Yajur Veda.

Radha and Krishna appears in Vedic Fire Sacrifice

In the Atharva Veda

The largest number of Atharvana Vedic hymns belong to the category of material well- being which include prayers for long life (100 years), property, architecture, astronomy ,well-being of trees, creatures, animals , for timely rain, avoiding unforeseen injuries etc. This shows their positive attitude.

Muujavat, the mythical home of the Soma plant in the Rig Veda, is shown as a distant place in the Atharva Veda; so by the time of Athrva veda, Soma was not easily available, almost extinct.

With the use of Soma plant we hear only the positive effects. It is unfortunate that the Hindus lost it very long ago.

MYSTERIOUS FLOATING CITY IN THE SKY; UFO CRASH LANDING IN LONDON!

News items about two mysteries occupied a good space in Western newspapers this morning. I have compiled the details from several sources:–

1).A FLOATING CITY APPEARED IN THE SKY IN CHINA!

2).A MYSTERIOUS VEHICLE CRASH LANDED IN LONDON STREET!

Both the incidents baffled lot of people including the scientists. They can only guess, but were not sure about it.

Chinese Miracle

Thousands of residents of cities in southern China reported seeing a huge city hovering ominously in the sky. The phenomenon, caught on video, sparked a spate of conspiracy theories. However, meteorologists believe the apparition was a Fata Morgana: an optical illusion that distorts distant objects, caused by the warming of the atmosphere above land or oceans.

An alien city? A parallel universe? A message from ghosts?

Residents in Jiangxi and Foshan, two southern Chinese cities, reported seeing a huge city—filled with shadowy skyscrapers—hovering ominously in the sky clear above them. The phenomenon, recorded by Chinese media in the video  has sparked a spate of conspiracy theories.

Many theories center around “Project Blue Beam,” a suspected plot by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to establish a new world order by either simulating an alien invasion of Earth or a projecting a second coming of Christ. Others say China was trying to gauge the public’s reaction to its own “top secret holographic technology.”

But what was it, really?

Meteorologists say the floating city was likely a Fata Morgana: A type of optical illusion that distorts distant objects, caused by the warming of the atmosphere above land or oceans. Atmospheric scientist Kenneth Bowman of Texas A&M University explained the phenomenon in detail to the Christian Science Monitor.

A vertical gradient of temperatures from cool land to hot air can bend light at an angle, which tricks viewers into seeing objects where they don’t belong. In this case, distant skyscrapers appeared to be hovering in the sky, when in fact they were sitting calmly on the far horizon.

Fata Morganas, named after the enchantress from the tales of King Arthur, are also believed to be behind the legend of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship.

Still, that explanation hasn’t dampened conspiracy fever. One proponent of the NASA “blue beam” theory has already garnered over 4 million views on YouTube.

Everyone in Central Guangdong, China were left baffled after a mysterious footage has gone viral online!

The footage shows that an apparition of a mysterious floating city suddenly appeared in the skies of China.

FLOATING

What’s even more surprising is the fact that the apparition even appeared with well-constructed buildings. After seeing the footage, people claim that they were really curious about what it really is.

However, experts claim that the apparition may have just been caused by a huge hologram that they built to see how the netizens will be reacting after seeing it!

U F O Crash Landing in London

(UFO= Unidentified Flying Object= Flying saucer)

A mystery object that appeared to have crashed into the middle of a road in West London, has left police baffled. Though this news appeared in London newspapers two days ago, still no explanation was coming forth!

Officers were called by a member of the public complaining about an unknown item on fire near the median strip of a road in Kingston.

Last night at around midnight a concerned member of the public called us on 999 stating that there was an unknown item on fire in the middle of the road.

Officers from Emergency Response Team A were dispatched along with the London Fire Brigade. When they arrived on scene they couldn’t believe their eyes!

The officers that arrived on scene described the item as looking like a crash landed UFO!

Other observers suggested that the mystery object might well be a pizza oven – although police remain confused as to who put the unidentified flaming object there, and why.

Hindu Temple Mystery!

If you read any modern book on Hindu Temple architecture they broadly classify the temples into three categories: Nagara, Dravida and Vesara. But these are relatively modern terms. It is neither found in Varahamihira’s classification of temples or Tamil saint Appar’s classification of temples. Both of them lived before seventh century CE. Temples did not exist during Vedic times. But they existed during Epic times. We have references to Temple worship in Ramayana and Bhagavata. They may not be the gigantic temples like the temples we see today. They may be just places of worship inside a palace or under a banyan tree.

Dwajasthamba with Tortoise

Nagara type of North Indian temples have curvilinear towers. They have square base. Dravida type of South India have towers like pyramids. They have octagonal base. Vesara type of temples combined both these styles. They have circular base. Earlier temples were built with perishable materials such as wood, brick, clay and mortar. Then Guptas built cave temples probably following the Buddhist caves. The gigantic temples we see today came into existence around eighth century CE. In the South, Pandyas and Pallavas made cave temples from sixth century CE at Kazukumalai, Tirupparankundram, Tirumeyyam,Pillayarpatti, Kundrakkudi Kanchi and Mamallapuram. Athiyaman also made such temples in Namakkal.

Varahamihira enumerates twenty types of temples!

(Read my article Twenty Types of Temples in Ancient India- posted on 30th March 2015. In another article I have listed all the temples from the Tamil epic Silappadikaram). Later Appar mentioned seven types of temples:-

Appar alias Tirunavukkarasu, one of the Four Great  Saivite Tamil saints sings about

“If the seventy eight great temples of the Lord

Whose matted crest is adorned with the great flood

KARAKKOYIL, GNAAZHARKKOYIL  girt with well protected

Groves, the hill like KOKUDIKKOYIL of  Karuppariyal

ILANGKOYIL where with the chanting of the Rig Veda

The Brahmins hail and adore the lord MANIKKOYIL

AALAKKOYIL  and every TIRUKKOYIL where Siva abides

Are circumambulated and hailed in humble

Adoration, evil Karma will get annulled “

(Sixth Tirumurai, Adaivu Tiru Thandakam of Appar)

DSCF5082

He and his junior contemporary Sambandar visited nearly 300 temples in Tamil speaking areas of South India in the seventh century CE. But we could not even figure out the temples mentioned in Appar’s Thevaram hymn. My research shows that the Kerala Type of temples were the oldest type. We can see such temples from Kerala to North East India. It is also seen in Nepal. Such type of temples don’t fall under the Nagara, Vesara, Dravida Types. The structure of the temples are designed to withstand the monsoon climate. The rain water drains easily in the step like tiled sheds. It helps the teak wood inside to last for longer. Periodically they wold have changed the roof and wood. No mention of these temples in the modern temple architecture books show that they were not taken into account in the classification of temples.

Nepalese Temple

The mystery lies not only in its structure but also its occurrence from southernmost tip of the land to the Himalayan country of Nepal. We see them even beyond north east India, in Burma, Thailand and other South East Asian countries. After Cambodian and Javan kings modelled their temples on the stone temples of India, this structure continued its existence only in the royal palaces of those countries. Before eighth century they also must have had temples like Kerala. Two things remain a mystery until today:

  1. How come the temples from Kerala to Nepal were built in the same style?
  2. Why there was no mention of this type in Temple architecture books? I mean they were not listed under the three main categories.

3.Third Mystery

There is another mystery surrounding the Dwajasthama, the Flag Staff. In Kerala, most of the temples have erected the Dwajasthamba on Tortoise/Turtle. There is no explanation to show why Kerala temples only followed this type of Flag staff. Tortoise is associated with various things such as Kurma Avatara, Kurma Mudra, Kurma Asana etc in Hindu literature. But we have no explanation to show why they differed from other temples in the erection of Dwajasthamaba. We have Mandapas (Halls) erected on Turtle/ Tortoise in Tamil Nadu, but no Dwajasthamba.

After studying these things and other ancient customs in Kerala temples, I concluded that they were the oldest models available today. More research is required to put them in the correct place in the development of Hindu Temple architecture. Till we do it there will be some gaps in the study of temple architecture.
