VARTTIKA adds Mangalaamangala vachanam……… etc
For long I have been trying to find the link between Mangala in Sanskrit and Manjal/turmeric in Tamil..
In Tamil Manjal (yellow colour turmeric stands for anything auspicious that is Mangala in Sanskrit .
But I couldn’t find a definite link, though the sound Mangala and Manjal means same for a Hindu.
That is Auspicious .
There may be a missing link somewhere.
The background for my hypothesis is yellow skinned people are called Mongoloid race.
In Vietnamese, Mau vang is yellow, closer to Tamil.
In Swahili it is Manjano, closer to Tamil.
In many cultures they for a word that has similar colour. For instance, one may say lemon fruit colour.
So we have lot of different names for Yellow.

The conceptual relationship between East Asians and yellow skin did not begin in Chinese culture or Western readings of East Asian cultural symbols, but in anthropological and medical records that described variations in skin color. Eighteenth-century taxonomers such as Carl Linnaeus, as well as Victorian scientists and early anthropologists, assigned colours to all racial groups, and once East Asians were lumped together as members of the “Mongolian race” they began to be considered yellow.
It shows Mongol means Manjal/yellow.
மங்கள , மங்கல என்றால் சுபம் தரக்கூடிய நிகழ்ச்சி, சம்பவம், செய்தி என்பது சம்ஸ்க்ருதத்தில் உள்ளது. இதை தமிழர்களும் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர்.
தமிழில் இதற்கு இணையாக மஞ்சள்/Turmeric உள்ளது. எல்லா மங்களகரமான காரியங்களும் மஞ்சள் குங்குமத்துடன்தான் துவங்கும். ஆயினும் சம்ஸ்க்ருதத்தில் மஞ்சள் கிழங்குக்கும் மஞ்சள் நிறத்துக்கும் (Yellow colour) தமிழுடன் தொடர்பில்லாத சொற்கள்தான் உளது.
ஆயினும் காணாமற்போன இணைப்புச் சொற்களைக் (Missing Links) கண்டுபிடித்துவிட்டால் மஞ்சள் = மங்கல் தொடர்பை நிரூபிக்கலாம்.
எனது ஆராய்ச்சியில் இரண்டே சொற்கள்தான் கிடைத்தன. வியட்நாமிய மொழியிலும் கிழக்கு ஆப்ரிக்க ஸ்வாஹிலி மொழியிலும்தான் மஞ்சள் ஒலிக்கு நெருக்கமான ஒலி வருகிறது.
இன்னும் ஒரு தொடர்பு, மங்கோலிய இனத்தவரின் தோல் (Mongolian Race) நிறம் மஞ்சள் என்ற நம்பிக்கையாகும். ஆனால் இது இன வேற்றுமை பாராட்டும்விதத்தில் 200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர் ஜப்பானியர்களையும் சீனர்களையும் குறிக்க உருவாக்கப்பட்டதாக சமூகவியலாளர் கூறுவர் . எனினும் என் கருத்துப்படி மஞ்சள் நிறம் , மங்கோலியர் தோல் நிறம் ஒன்றே. ஆக இதை ஒரு தொடர்பாக கொள்ளலாம். இன வேற்றுமை பயத்தால் இதை என்சைக்ளோபீடியாக்கள் காட்டுவதில்லை.

Nada = chara = chala = SEL/Tamil = go
Selavu = travel, payanam in Tamil
சரித்திரம் என்றால் நட+த்தை ; எது நடக்கிறதோ அது.
தமிழிலும் இதே பொருளில் நாட்டு நடப்பு, கூட்டம் நடக்கிறது என்றும் சொல்லுகிறோம்.
நீண்டகாலமாக நடப்பது சரித்திரம்.
நட என்பதற்கு இணையான செல் என்பதும் சம்ஸ்க்ருதத்தில் உளது.
சர = சல= செல்= செலவு /பயணம்
நேதாஜியின் புகழ் பெற்ற அறைகூவல் , ‘தில்லி சலோ’
பழம் தமிழில் ‘செலவு’ என்றால் பயணம்.
ஆக தமிழும் ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதமும் “நட , நடப்பு, வரலாறு” என்பதையும்
“சர = சல = செல் = செலவு” என்பதையும் ஒரே வழியில் உருவாக்குகின்றன .

Though Sanskrit words used in Tamil
ரஹஸ்யம் = இரகசியம்; இன்றும் தமிழர்கள் பயன்படுத்தும் ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதச் சொல்லாகும்
சக்ஷு என்றால் கண்; இதை வைத்து சாக்ஷாத் , சாக்ஷி /சாட்சி என்ற சொற்களையும் தமிழில் பயன்படுத்துகிறோம்.

Pata pata endru pattas vediththathu= பட பட என்று பட்டாசு வெடி த்தது.
It comes again in 6-1-100
பட பட ஒலி / சப்தம்
இது இந்திய மொழிகளில் இருக்கிறது.
பட பட என்று வெடிப்பதால் அதை பட்டாசு என்கிறோம்??

சமயம் என்ற ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதச் சொல்லை பயன்படுத்துவது போல சுகம், துக்கம் என்ற சொற்களையும் தமிழர்கள் பயன்படுத்துகின்றனர்.
