‘One who has indomitable faith and controls his senses attains divine knowledge. Having obtained the knowledge, he quickly attains the supreme peace’.

Bagavad Gita 4-39

Let me tell you how powerful faith is. A man was about to cross the sea from Ceylon to India. Vibhishana, the saintly brother of demon Ravana, said to him,

“Tie this in a corner of your wearing cloth and you will cross the sea safely . You will be able to walk on the water. But be sure not to examine it, or you will sink”.

The man was easily walking on the water of the sea – such is the strength of faith. When having gone part of the way, he thought, what is this wonderful thing, Vibhishana has given me , that I can even walk on the water?

He untied the cloth and found nothing, but a leaf with the name Rama written on it.

“Oh, only this”, he thought and immediately sank.

Mahatma Gandhi on Faith

A disciple may not make rapid progress because of lack of faith in the goal. We must have faith.

As Mahatma Gandhi has said,

“Faith is not a delicate which would whither under stormy weather. Faith is like the Himalaya mountains which cannot possibly change. No storm can possibly remove the Himalayas from their foundations . And I want everyone of you to cultivate that faith in God and Religion. For the development of spiritual knowledge it is essential to cleanse one’s heart of all material dirt and control the senses. The time taken to gain knowledge varies from person to person. One must realise that nothing can be mastered overnight. Through practice and perseverance, the apparently can be accomplished”.

Swami Vivekananda on Faith

Faith is not belief, it is the grasp on the Ultimate an illumination.

He who has no faith in himself can never have faith in god.

A man must not only have faith but intellectual faith too.

Faith is one of the potent factors of humanity and of all religions.

Faith, faith, faith in ourselves, faith, faith, faith in god— this is the secret of greatness.

It is faith that makes a lion out of a man .

The essence of our Faith consists simply in the freedom of the ‘Ishta’.

So long you have faith in your Guru , nothing will be obstruct your way.

The ‘Shraddha’ must enter into you.
