கபீர்- பதினைந்தாம் நூற்றாண்டுக் கவிஞர், சமய குரு, ராமாநந்தரின் சீடர். இந்துவாகப் பிறந்து முஸ்லீம் வீட்டில் வளர்க்கப்பட்டார் என்பது பலர் நம்பிக்கை.

லண்டனில் ஜூன் 1ம் தேதி (1-6-2019) ‘தமிழ் இலக்கிய குழுமம்’ என்ற பெயரில் புதிய தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் துவக்கப்பட்டது. இதில் அண்மையில் வெளியான லண்டன் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர்களின் புஸ்தகங்கள் விமர்சிக்கப்பட்டன. இளம் எழுத்தாளர்களும் அறிமுகம் செய்யப்பட்டனர். லண்டன் சிவா கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி எழுதிய ‘வெளிச்சமும் வெயிலும்’ என்ற கதைப் புத்தகமும், அனோஜன் பாலகிருஷ்ணனின் கதைத் தொகுப்பும், ராய் மேஸம் எழுதிய உப்பு வேலி நூலின் தமிழாக்கமும் (சிறில் அலெக்ஸ் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு) அக்கு வேறு ஆணி வேறு என்று அலசி ஆராயப்பட்டன. அதில் ராய் மேக்ஸம் (ROY MAXHOM) எழுதிய புத்தகம் இந்தியர் அறியாத ஒரு உலக அதிசயம் இந்தியாவில் இருந்ததைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறது. அதாவது இந்தியாவையே இரண்டாகப் பிரிக்கும் (THE GREAT HEDGE OF INDIA) 1500 மைல் நீள உப்புவேலி. நூலும் நூலின் தமிழ் மொழிபெயர்ப்பும் வெளியாகி சில ஆண்டுகள் ஆன போதும் அதிகம் அறியப்படாத இந்த நூலை எழுதிய ராய் மேக்ஸம் அவர்களே புதிய தமிழ் சங்கத்தைத் துவக்க வந்திருந்ததாலும் அவருடைய நூலை மொழிபெயர்த்த சிறில் அலெக்ஸே உடன் இருந்ததாலும் கூட்டம் , தனிச் சிறப்பு பெற்றது.
