Nobody knows what is going to happen to whom tomorrow. Hence a wise person should finish today itself the tasks planned for tomorrow.

One should never throw harsh words like dreadful poisonous arrows on others. (In Mahabharata) it was the harshness of the words which propelled Bhima to destroy the clan of Kauravas.

பலிப்ரார்தனயா ப்ராப லகுதாம் புருஷோத்தம: ||
சுயமரியாதையை இழக்கச் செய்யும் பிச்சை எடுப்பதை ஒருவன் ஒருபோதும் செய்யக்கூடாது. அது நீசர்களாலேயே செய்யப்படும் ஒன்று. புருஷோத்தமனான விஷ்ணுவே பலி மஹாராஜாவிடம் பிச்சை எடுக்க வாமனனாக – குள்ளனாக – ஆக வேண்டி இருந்தது.
One should never beg which surely destroys one’s self respect and is only practiced by lowly. Even Lord Vishnu is reduced in size to Vamana for begging before King Bali.

உன்னதமான நிலையில் ஒருவன் இருந்தாலும் கூட பூஜிக்க வேண்டிய ஒருவரை எப்போதும் அவமானப்படுத்தக் கூடாது. இந்திர பதவியை அடைந்திருந்த நஹுஷ மன்னன் அகஸ்தியரை அவமானப்படுத்தியதால் தன் நிலையிலிருந்து கீழே விழுந்தான்.
Even adorning a very high position, one should never insult a respected person. King Nahusha who had acquired the position of Indra, fell down by insulting Agastya.

மஹா கும்பமேளா 2 வாரங்களுக்கு முன்னரே முடியும்

சீனாவில் சம்ஸ்கிருத மொழி பிரபலம்’
சீனாவில் 2,000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாக சம்ஸ்கிருத மொழி பிரபலமாக இருப்பதாக அந்நாட்டில் உள்ள புகழ் பெற்ற பீக்கிங் பல்கலைக்கழக பேராசிரியா் வாங் பாங்வெய் தெரிவித்துள்ளாா்.
இதுதொடா்பாக அவா் கூறியதாவது:
பண்டைய இந்தியாவில் இருந்து பெளத்த மதத்துடன் சம்ஸ்கிருத மொழியும் சீனா வந்து சோந்தது. சீனாவில் சம்ஸ்கிருத மொழி குறித்த ஆய்வுகள், கற்பித்தல் பணிகளுக்கு 2,000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலான வரலாறு உள்ளது.

அழகர் கோயில் திருவிழா : இதே போல சித்திரை திருவிழாவின் மற்றுமொரு முக்கிய பங்கு வகிப்பது அழகர் கோயிலிலிருந்து கள்ளழகர் மதுரை விஜயம் செய்யும் நிகழ்வு. இதில் தல்லாகுளம் எதிர்சேவை, வைகையாற்றில் இறங்குதல்,மண்டூக முனிவருக்கு சாப விமோசனம், தசாவதார நிகழ்வு, வண்டியூர் கோயில் செல்லுதல் போன்ற முக்கிய நிகழ்வுகள் நடைபெறும்.

PM appeals for symbolic ‘Kumbh Mela’ to strengthen fight against Covid
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday the ongoing Kumbh in Haridwar should now have symbolic participation due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Modi tweeted that he spoke to Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara over telephone and inquired about the health of saints, many of whom have contracted the infection, and also conveyed his appreciation for their cooperation with the local administration.
“I prayed that two ‘shahi snans’ have taken place and Kumbh (participation) should now be kept symbolic. This will boost the fight against this crisis,” the prime minister tweeted in Hindi.
Niranjani Akhada says close Kumbha Mela, apex body yet to decide
Lakhs of devotees gathered in Haridwar to take part in Kumbh Mela‘s Shahi Snan ritual amid the resurgence of coronavirus disease in the country. The royal holy baths called SAHI SNAAN took place on Monday and Wednesday.
Nepal’s last King Gyanendra Veer Vikram Singh arrived in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar to participate in the ongoing Kumbh festivities in the holy city.
During his visit last Sunday , King Gyanendra met Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara at Dakshin Kali Temple and took his blessings.
He offered prayers in the Kali temple and also took blessings after visiting the seers.
Shri Panchayati Niranjani Akhada, one of the 13 prime Akhadas, on Thursday announced the conclusion of the mega event Kumbh Mela on April 17.
However, the final decision will be taken by the apex body of the 13 akhadas — Akhada Parishad.
Ravindra Puri Maharaj, secretary of the Niranjani Akhada said, “Given the Covid pandemic situation in Haridwar and many seers testing positive, we have decided to end of the Kumbh Mela. With the Shahi Snan of April 27, a few seers will complete the ritual.
“However, the final decision to end the Mahakumbh is to be taken by Akhada Parishad and we have requested the same.”
The Kumbh Mela mega event has already been curbed to one month from four months.
As many as 2,269 cases were detected in the mela area in five days from April 10 to 15.

TTD to give proof on birthplace of Anjaneya on April 21
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which had earlier announced to present epigraphical and scientific evidence to prove that Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, is the birthplace of Lord Anjaneya on Telugu New Year Ugadi, has deferred the same to April 21, the auspicious day of Sri Ramanavami.
“The TTD is all set to declare Anjanadri hills of Tirumala as the birth place of Anjaneya Swamy by presenting mythological, epigraphically, and astrological evidences on the auspicious day of Sri Ramanavami on April 21,’’ the TTD said in a statement on Monday.
In December 2020, the TTD constituted an expert committee to study in detail about the birthplace of Lord Anjaneya.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams claim that Tirumala Hills is the abode of Lord Hanuman and they would release an ‘evidence’ based book has created a stir in religious and archaeological circles as Hampi near Ballari is considered ‘Kishkindha Kshetra’ or monkey kingdom for ages.

Over 2,000 years on, Sanskrit remains popular in China says Chinese Professor in Beijing
Sanskrit studies are flourishing in China, over 2,000 years after the ancient Indian language was brought to this country along with Buddhism, making a profound impact on Chinese monarchs and scholars over the centuries, according to a distinguished professor in Beijing.
Wang Bangwei, a well-known Chinese scholar in Sanskrit and Director of Sino-Indian Buddhist Studies, Institute of Oriental and Indian Studies at the Peking University, said Sanskrit which is the root of Indian culture continues to remain popular in China, contrary to its modest progress in modern India.
Wang said the Peking University is one of the oldest in China and this year marks the completion of 100 years of teaching Sanskrit at the leading varsity.
Wang credited 4th Century AD Indian scholar Kumarajiva for spreading Sanskrit in China.
Kumarajiva was instrumental in translating Buddhist sutras into Chinese language during his stay in China over 2,000 years ago, earning the royal title of “National Teacher of China”.
He was the first among numerous scholars who laid a firm foundation for civilisational links between the two countries.
Kumarajiva, hailing from a Kashmiri Brahmin family from the then Kucha Kingdom, spent about 23 years in China in the 4th century AD both as a prisoner and as a most revered scholar.
Sanskrit, its associated culture and its development was kept alive by numerous Chinese scholars, like Fahian and Yuan Chuang and others, who visited India, Wang said, while launching the Sanskrit learning application ‘Little Guru’ of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, (ICCR) at the Indian Embassy in Beijing, on Friday, along with Indian Ambassador, Vikram Misri.
Sanskrit teaching programme started at the Peking University a century ago but Sanskrit research and teaching in China has a history of over 2,000 years, Wang said.
When Buddhism came to China from India, Chinese Buddhist monks started translating Indian texts into Chinese.

Panchagam predicts end of pandemic, good days for Andhra Pradesh
The Telugu New Year Panchangam (almanac) predicts an end to the Coronavirus pandemic and good days for Andhra Pradesh this year.
During Panchanga Sravanam (almanac reading) programme conducted on Ugadi festival to mark the beginning to Plava nama samvatsara at the Chief Minister’s camp office at Tadepalli on Tuesday, priest predicted that Andhra Pradesh would emerge prosperous with abundant rainfall and a surge in business due to the containment of Covid-19 this year.
Government siddanthi Kappaganthula Subbaraju Somayajulu recited the new panchangam in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, ministers and eminent persons on 13th April, Ugadi Day..
Observing that the meaning of Plava is a ship, the Chief Minister wished for abundant rainfall, good luck to farmers, and every sister would be happy.
Extending his Ugadi greetings to people, the Chief Minister wished prosperity for every house in the state and that everyone would win the war against Covid.
The siddanthi said the state economy would improve this year due to the planetary movements of Guru and Shukra grahas. He also observed that the Chief Minister’s personal horoscope also augurs well for the state. He said Guru’s stay in the Kumbha rashi for nine months, which would usher in copious rains, increase milk production, education, agriculture and finance sectors, which would give best results with all-round development.
After the programme, the siddanthi blessed the Chief Minister and presented Ugadi Pachadi.

12-day Madurai Chithirai festival begins amid strict Covid protocol
The 12-day Chithirai festival at Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple IN MADURAI commenced with flag hoisting on Thursday.
While devotees are not allowed to participate in the festive rituals, they will be able to take darshan inside the temple at scheduled timing slots in the mornings and evenings, through East and South Towers only.
In a statement, the temple administration said that devotees who wish to have free darshan would be allowed entry into the temple on all the 12 days through East Tower while those opting for paid darshan are to enter through the South Tower only. The Chithirai festival began on Thursday with the flag hoisting and ends on April 25.
The Pattabishekam (coronation) ceremony is scheduled on April 22, Dig Vijayam on April 23, Thirukalyanam (celestial wedding) on April 24 and the car festival is to be held on April 25.

AP plans closure of all temples to curb spread of Covid-19
The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to close all major, medium and small temples for some time to check the spread of the Coronavirus in the state.
There are nearly 1,074 major temples in the state including the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams located in Tirupati, as also about 2,000 medium temples and hundreds of small temples. In the second wave of Covid-19, the number of devotees visiting the temples has drastically come down. This has resulted in a fall in the hundi collections, which would seriously affect the payment of monthly salaries to the temple staff.
The state government plans to close all archaeologically significant museums, forts and monuments shortly. The Centre has given such a direction to the state. There are 13 museums, 10 forts and nearly 264 monuments in the state. “The state archaeological department has written to the government on their plan for a closure. Consent from the state government is awaited,” officials said.

Congress MLA performs puja at Vaidyanath Dham, BJP MP Dubey demands his arrest
Jharkhand’s Congress MLA Irfan Ansari on Wednesday performed puja at the famous Vaidyanath Dham temple at Deoghar, considered to be the most sacred abode of Lord Shiva, creating a controversy.
Claiming that entry of non-Hindus is not allowed in the temple, BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey demanded immediate arrest of Ansari.
The MLA of Jamtara, along with his companions, entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and performed the puja. Photographs of the act were also taken.
Ansari claimed that he has been coming to the Baidyanath Dham temple since his childhood to take the blessings of Lord Shiva.
“Whenever elections come, I have been blessed by Baba Bhole (Lord Shiva) and I have won. Who is Nishikant Dubey to take me away from Baba?” Ansari said.
Dubey, the MP of Godda, demanded that the states JMM-led government order arrest of Ansari and take action against the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police of Deoghar for allowing this to happen.
“No non-Hindu has entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Baba temple till date. Just as the entry of non-Muslims is forbidden in the Kaaba in Mecca, the entry of non-Hindus into the Baba temple is also forbidden,” he told a press conference.

இதைப் பற்றிய புராண வரலாறு ஒன்று உண்டு. சுதப முனிவர் என்னும் மாமுனிவர் இந்தத்தலத்தில் உள்ள நூபுர கங்கை எனப்படும் சிலம்பாற்றில் நீராட வந்தார். அப்போது துர்வாச முனிவர் அவர் எதிரில் வந்தார். சுதபர் அவரைக் கவனிக்கவில்லை. இதனால் கோபம் கொண்ட துர்வாசர் அவரை, மண்டூகமாக அதாவது தவளையாக மாற சாபம் இட்டார். சுதபர், சாப நிவர்த்தி வேண்டிக் கேட்க, ‘வைகை ஆற்றில் நீண்ட காலம் தவம் இயற்றுக’, என்றார் துர்வாசர். அதன்படி சுதபர் தவம் இயற்ற, திருமால் அருளால் அவர் சாபம் நீங்கப் பெற்றார். முனிவர் திருமாலைக் கண்டு வணங்கிய உருவமே சுந்தரபாஹு என்று அழைக்கப்படும் அழகர் ஆவார்.
இங்கு கலைநுணுக்கம் கொண்ட பல சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன. ஆரியன் மண்டபத்தில் கொடுங்கைகள் மற்றும் இசைத் தூண்கள் உள்ளன. இந்த இசைத்தூணின் உச்சியில் உள்ள சிங்கத்தின் வாயில், சுழலும் நிலையில் ஒரு உருண்டை உள்ளது, அதே சமயம் அது எடுக்க முடியாதபடியும் அமைந்துள்ளது. இது ஒரு சிற்ப அற்புதமாகும்.
கோவிலின் காவல் தெய்வமாக உள்ள பதினெட்டாம் படிஸ்ரீகருப்பணசாமி மிகவும் சக்தி வாய்ந்தவர் என்பதால் அனைத்து பக்தர்களும் முதலில் அவரை வணங்குதல் மரபாகும்.
கோவிலில் உள்ள திருக்கல்யாண மண்டபத்தில் நரசிம்மர் அவதாரம், கிருஷ்ணர் உள்ளிட்ட ஏராளமான சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன. வசந்த மண்டபத்தில் இராமாயண, மஹாபாரத காட்சிகளைச் சித்திரங்களாகக் காணலாம்.
ஐதிகத்தின் படி கள்ளழகர் மீனாக்ஷி தேவியின் சகோதரர். ஆகவே சித்திரை மாதம் நடக்கும் மீனாட்சி கல்யாணத்திற்கு தனது ஆயுதங்கள் பூண்ட நிலையில் அவர் சித்திரா பௌர்ணமி அன்று மதுரை நோக்கி வருகிறார். எதிர் சேவை என்று அழைக்கப்படும் இந்த விழாவிலும் கள்ளழகர் வைகை ஆற்றில் இறங்கும் மாபெரும் விழாவிலும் பல லட்சம் பேர் இங்கு கூடித் திரண்டு அழகரைத் தொழுது ஆனந்தம் அடைவர். அழகர் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலையிலிருந்து மதுரை வரை பல மண்டகப் படிகளில் எழுந்தருளி, கல்யாணம் முடிந்து விட்டதை அறிந்து, வண்டியூர் வரை சென்று மீள்வார். இப்படி ஒரு அமைப்பு திருமலை நாயக்கர் காலத்தில் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டு மீனாக்ஷி கல்யாணமும் அழகர் ஆற்றில் இறங்கும் வைபவமும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து இருக்கும்படி ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டது.
பழம்பெரும் இலக்கியமான சிலப்பதிகாரத்தில் இந்தத் தலம் குறிப்பிடப்படுவதால் இதன் பழமையை அறியலாம்.இந்தத் தலத்தில் பெரியாழ்வார் 34, ஆண்டாள் 11, பேயாழ்வார் 1, திருமங்கை ஆழ்வார் 33, பூதத்தாழ்வார் 3 நம்மாழ்வார் 46 ஆக இப்படி ஆறு ஆழ்வார்கள் 128 பாசுரங்களை அருளியுள்ளனர்.
இந்தத் தலத்தைப் பற்றிய சுவையான வரலாறு ஒன்று உண்டு. சுந்தர ராஜப் பெருமாளை வணங்கி வழிபட்ட ஆண்டாள்,

என்று இப்படி நூறு தடா எனப்படும் நூறு அண்டா அக்காரவடிசில் மற்றும் நூறு தடா வெண்ணெய் சமர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டுதல் செய்து அதைப் பாடலிலும் பதிவு செய்தார்.
பின்னால் வந்த ஸ்ரீ இராமானுஜர், ஆண்டாள் தனது வேண்டுதலை நிறைவேற்றினாரா இல்லையா என்பதில் சந்தேகம் கொண்டு அண்ணனாக இருந்து, தானே நூறு அண்டா அக்காரவடிசிலையும் நூறு அண்டா வெண்ணெயையும் சமர்ப்பித்து ஆண்டாளின் வேண்டுதலைப் பூர்த்தி செய்தார்.
இந்தத் தலத்தில், கோவிலில், பிரசாதமாக வழங்கப்படும் அடை தனிச் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த ஒன்று. விசேஷமாகத் தயாரிக்கப்படும் இதன் சுவை சொல்லுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது.
இன்றும் அழகு குறையாமல் அப்படியே இருக்கும் அழகர்கோவில் அனைத்து பக்தர்களும் செல்ல விரும்பும் ஒரு அற்புதத் தலம் என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை.
காலம் காலமாக ஆயிரமாயிரம் பக்தர்கள் வழிபட்டு வரும் கள்ளழகர் அனைவருக்கும் சர்வ மங்களத்தைத் தர ஞானமயம் சார்பில் பிரார்த்திக்கிறோம்.

The Rigveda contains a high degree of astronomical knowledge according to the recent studies conducted by the Hyderabad based B H M Birla Science Centre.
The Rigveda and related Vedic Literature contained accurate and sophisticated calendric astronomy pointing not to an illiterate semi nomadic tribal society but a well settled agrarian and scholastic population, Dr B G Siddharth, Director General of the centre, who led the study, told UNI.
Once the astronomical content of the Vedic literature is recognised several dates emerge contradicting the prevalent picture of pre -history, he said, claiming that there was no archaeological basis for the theory that Indo- Aryans invaded India around 1500 BCE
Rigveda was not compiled by the tribe around 1500 BCE as was now supposed but was the product of a well settled civilisation going back to 8000 BCE and beyond on the basis of astronomical dating. This was supported by recent archaeological excavations in South Eastern Turkey, Dr Siddhartha said.
Even around 2000 BCE a vast belt from Turkey to India, including Central Asia had a civilisation derived from the earliest Rig Vedic civilisation. This was the period of latest Brahmanas books.
He disputed the theory that Aryans overran the Indus Valley civilisation. This view was based on the interpretation of the Rigveda whose hymns were supposed to be invocations to several deities, for aid in their battles to conquer the original inhabitants.
Dr Siddartha claimed that the more antique date of 10000 BCE proposed for Rigveda or Vedic culture seemed more plausible in view of the epi Palaeolithic agricultural or proto agricultural civilisations going back to similar period or earlier.
If at all, as the European scholars had supposed , Rig Vedic descriptions of invasions on the circular forts of the Dasas were to be taken literally, couldn’t these forts to be identified with the circular dwellings of the Neolithic people in and around the Anatolian region, he asked.
On the other hand, the Rigvedic and others Vedic literature showed a level of astronomy and science far ahead of that seen around 2000 BCE on wards, he asserted.
Stating that the linear model of progress adopted by historians had not always been true , Dr Siddharth said there has been eras of regression in human civilisation or knowledge. Very advanced but camouflaged astronomy in the Rig Veda seemed to lose its way decayed, as its purport was lost, he added.
A number of dates showing a continuous astronomical tradition from before 10000 BCE tumbled out of Vedic literature. Many of these dates were couched in the typical allegorical style of Vedic and other ancient Indian literature, but there were explicit dates as well.
Even the earliest of Brahmanas or expository texts in the Vedas like the Aitareya Brahmana (6000 BCE) had started speculating on the possible meanings of Rigveda, he said, adding that this text referred to the asterism Punarvasu (Castor and Pollux) presided over by the deity Aditi also being exactly at the east point. This happened around 6000 BCE and was in a different sense, noticed by Tilak.
The Satapata Brahmana, one of the latest Brahmana s ,refers to the asterism Krittika or Pleiades rising from the east point which yields the date of about 2300 BCE, he claimed.
Citing the nearly unknown excavations at Nevali Cori in Anatolia dating back to 7500 BCE, he said that there seemed to be a well developed civilisation with megalithic elements and meticulous architecture. Several beautiful limestone sculptures found there indicated that the inhabitants were an artistic lot.
The current excavations concealed even older structures on which these were built, showing an even older civilisation. All these contradicted the current view that civilisation began in Egypt and Sumeria around3000 BCE, he claimed.
Neveli Cori was an isolated oasis within the
framework of current knowledge as it did not relate to any culture or civilisation of its period.
However, he said, recent excavations at Mehrgarh in Baluchistan dating back to between 7000 BCE and 6000 BCE, paralleled Nevali Cori in terms of economy agriculture, domestication of animals and layout of large settlements.
Dr Siddharth said there had been instances of cultures of Aryans in Anatolia like the Mitanni, the Hittites, and the Kassites , of about the middle of the second millennium BCE.
Vedic deities like Indra, Mitra, Varuna and Nasatya were invoked in the Bogazkoi Oath inscription near Istanbul.

ஜெர்மனியில் பெர்லினிலிருந்து வந்த அறிக்கைகளின் படி 1946லிருந்து 2014 முடிய பாதிரிகளின் குழந்தைகளைக் கற்பழித்த கேஸ்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அதிர வைக்கும் 3677 என்ற எண்ணிக்கையைச் சுட்டிக் காட்டுகிறது. குழந்தைகள், கன்யா ஸ்தீரிகள் மற்றும் பெண்கள் ஆகியோரை பாலியல் ரீதியாக பாதிரிகள் துன்புறுத்துவது ஒரு உலகமயமான குற்ற்றமாக ஆகி இருக்கிறது. இந்த கொடூரச் செயல்களை வெளிநாடுகளில் பகிரங்கமாக விவாதிக்கின்றனர், அதற்கு முக்கிய விளம்பரமும் தரப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் இந்தியாவிலோ போலி மதசார்பின்மையைக் கொண்டிருக்கும் இந்திய ஊடகங்கள் இதைப் பற்றி ஒரு வார்த்தை கூட பேசுவதில்லை, செய்திகளையும் தருவதில்லை.
மேலை நாடுகளின் மக்கள், பாதிரிகள் பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகளைச் செய்வதாலும் மன நிம்மதி அறவே போய் விட்டதாலும், சர்ச்சுகளை விட்டு வெளியேறி வருகின்றனர். ஏராளமான கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் அங்கே ஹிந்து மதத்திற்கு மாறி வருகின்றனர். இந்த செய்தியை இந்திய ஊடகங்கள் கண்டு கொள்வதே இல்லை. பாதிரிகளின் காம ஆசை இனி உலகிற்கு புதிதான விஷயம் அல்ல! பெண்களையும், குழந்தைகளையும், கன்யா ஸ்தீரிகளையும் பாலியல் கொடுமைகளுக்கு பாதிரிகள் ஆளாக்குவது அமெரிக்கா, பிரிட்டனில் கடந்த பல ஆண்டுகளாகவே நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.
சில சம்பவங்கள் பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின்னர் வெளி உலகிற்குத் தெரிய வந்தது. இந்தக் குற்றங்களுக்காக தண்டிக்கப்பட்ட பாதிரிகளுக்கு பல கோடி ரூபாய்கள் அபராதமும் விதிக்கப்பட்டது. போப்பே பாதிரிகளின் இந்த கொடும் செயல்களுக்காக மன்னிப்புக் கேட்டுள்ளார்.

GLOBAL CRIME IN THE GARB OF CHRISTIANITY
As per reports Berlin (Germany) 1,670 priests raped 3,677 children between 1946
and 2014 : Sexual assault on children, nuns and women by priests has become a global crime. Such crimes are widely debated and publicised in foreign countries, while the pseudo-secular Indian media remains mum.
People in western countries are leaving churches due to sexual abuse by priests, and
lack of peace of mind. Numerous Christians there, are now embracing Hinduism, a fact neglected by the Indian media. The lust of the clergy is no longer new to the
world. There have been reports of sexual abuse of women, children and nuns by the clergy in the United States and Europe for decades.
Some incidents have come to light decades later. The Christian priests convicted in the cases have also been fined crores of Rupees. The Pope himself has apologised for these lecherous acts of the clergy. [Courtesy : Sanatan Prabhat, 16- 31 January 2021]

Such unfortunate incidents reported fill our heart with pain and sorrow. Hindus believe in sacrifice or TYAGA, which is the essence of Dharma and Achaar (Association or Sangh), Sri Ramakrishna said that if you utter the name ‘Geeta’ and repeat it– the Geeta’ becomes Tyagi. The four Ashramas, the Varna Vyavastha, the Yoga, Sankhya and other disciplines are all installed on the pedestal of restraint of senses and sacrifice.

Thuhu Eksath milthe nahi, diva rajani Ek Dhaam ||
Dharma and enjoyment of senses are poles asunder like the day and night and the twain shall never meet. Prajapati Manu’s Manav Dharma was in the framework of civilisation across the world and with the ingress of subsequent religious
precepts, their modifications and gradual expansion, Dharma was relegated to back seat. Dharmena heena: pashubhi: samana:| Bereft of the salubrious
rules and values of Dharma, humanity is confronted with major crisis.
Strong punishment and requisite education for spiritual upliftment are the need of the hour, and Pope himself is aware of the increasing libidinous lechery in his own bastion. He has already apologised for the misdeeds of the clergy.

இது ஹிந்து விரோதச் செயல்; ஆலய எதிர்ப்புச் செயல்; தர்ம விரோதமான செயல்!
இதே கதை தான் வடக்கே உள்ள ஊடகங்களிலும்! இந்த நிலை என்று தான் மாறுமோ! கடுமையான சட்ட திட்டங்களும் தேவை; இவற்றை மக்கள் புறக்கணித்து தூக்கி எறிவதும் தேவை. மக்களின் ஆதரவு இல்லாத நிலையில் இந்த ஊடகங்கள் தாமாகவே அழிந்து விடும்.

A surprising denouement ( the basis being flash , show or spectacle – Chamatkara- Freshness of concept) adds vibrations to other Rasas to make them more penetrative-powerful. Thus, it is a codaka rasa (Anandavardhana and Abbinava Gupta are in essential agreement.)
He gave instances from Kalidasa’s Sakuntalam,Bhavabuti’s Malati Madhava and Mahavira Charitra;Bhaskaran’s Urubhanga and Murray’s Anargha Raghavan, and Bhatta Narayana’s Veni Samharam —-Swapna vasavadatta .
Unpleasant things are held as pleasant , bad things as good etc.
A boy losing a job in a distant place is the cause of his returning to his wife in his village, accidental hearing of words as in answer to a doubt or query.
Aswatthama wallowing in grief at the death of his father Drona, is rushed to fury and vengeance by the harsh words of Duryodhana and Karna.
A fine excess or exaggeration is needed to attract attention
Prof S Ramaswami:
To have a bright future for Sanskrit studies, all available facilities should be utilised, it should not be repetitive memory test as it were, but should have a critical and clear approach. Shakespearean studies are still going on, exploring new avenues. Difficulties in propagating Sanskrit are exaggerated. Critical editions have to be brought out by dedicated labours of scholars. Dictionaries of Puranas etc should be published.
Dr S Viswanathan: He made a comprehensive survey of Alankara theories , stressing those of Mammata and Ananda vardhana.

She gave a delectable citation from Mukakavi’s Pancasati Arya Sataka, Padaravinda Sataka— verses in praise of Sri Kanchi Kamakshi.

He spoke on the message of Sri Adi Shankara — his compositions for the enlightenment of the ordinary people— hymns and Prakarna granthas
Dr P K Sundaram:
The spirit of scientific enquiry was evident in early days, but it was not pursued in later times.
Sri B Madhavan:
Speaking generally on Hinduism,he observed
Strictly it is not a religion based on the teachings of a single person. We have only a collection of teachings, discussions, practices etc of several persons— seers, avatars etc with inevitable doubts and contradictions.
Still it has distinctive concepts that can be understood and acted upon, e.g. theory of re births based upon one’s karmas and cyclic civilisation.
The Four Yugas signifying the constant changes from good to bad and viceversa, not uni- directional.
Another concept is that evolution is governed by the three factors- heredity, environment and individuality.
Man has the scope to exercise his free will in a set up which is to a large extent beyond his control.
The concepts are universal in scope, – what applies to the macroeconomic level is applicable to the microcosmic level as well. From the point of view, there should be no room for dogmas. The Bhagavad Gita is a supreme example of being free from dogmas. Do not mislead. Try not to make others fall in line with you BG.3-28.
Of what use is compulsion? BG.3-33
What ever way one tries to meet me, I meet him in his own way BG.4-11
Full freedom of action— no essential ritual.
The final statement to Arjuna is striking,
Act in any manner you want to- the guidelines have been simply presented to you- BG.18-63
Sankara puts this as Smaarakam – na ti karakam- recommendatory and not mandatory.
As religion or philosophy, Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma), is all comprehensive- covering all shades of thought, beliefs etc.
Universality, tolerance, accommodation, and freedom are its hallmarks. This is at once its weakness and strength.
It has survived through the ages despite various onslaughts on account of its universality and accommodation, perennial philosophy.
