சம்ஸ்கிருதச் செல்வம்!

கடல் போன்ற சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியம்!

சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியம் ஒரு பெரிய கடல் போன்றது. மிகப் பண்டைய காலத்தது. பல்துறைகளிலும் அதன் இலக்கியம் பரந்து விரிந்திருக்கிறது.

சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியத்தில் இல்லாதது உலகில் வேறு எந்த மொழியிலும் இல்லை என்றே துணிந்து சொல்லலாம்.

நமக்குக் கிடைத்தவற்றின் அடிப்படையிலேயே, நம்மால் படிக்க முடிந்து அனுபவிக்கக் கூடிய இலக்கியத்திலிருந்தே இதைச் சொல்ல முடிகிறது என்றால் அதன் பல லட்சம் புத்தகங்களும் (சுவடிகளாக உள்ளவை) படிக்கப்பட்டது என்றால்  அதை எப்படி விவரிக்க முடியும்? சொல்ல வார்த்தைகளே இருக்காது!

மனித அறிவிற்கு உட்பட்ட எந்தத் துறையை வேண்டுமானாலும் சொல்லுங்கள், விஞ்ஞானம், மெய்ஞானம், ஜோதிடம், இலக்கியம், நுண்கலைகள் – எதுவாக இருந்தாலும் அதில் நுட்பமான கருத்துக்களைக் கொண்ட நூல்கள் சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் உள்ளன.

விஞ்ஞானத்தில் இரசாயனம், இயற்பியல், கணிதத்தில் அல்ஜீப்ரா, கால்குலஸ், கப்பல் கட்டுவது, விமானம் அமைப்பது – இவையெல்லாம் சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் இருக்கிறதா? என்ற கேள்வி எழுப்பப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறது.

நிச்சயமாக இருக்கிறது. இவை இன்று மேலை நாட்டு விஞ்ஞானம் கூறும் கலைச் சொற்களைக் கொண்டிருக்காது; ஆனால் நுட்பமான சொற்களால் அவற்றை விளக்குவதை இப்போது வெளி வரும் பல நூல்கள் காண்பிக்கின்றன.

கணிதத்தில் அல்ஜீப்ரா எப்படி இருந்தது என்பதை சம்ஸ்கிருத நூல்கள் விளக்குவதை மயிலை சம்ஸ்கிருத அகாடமி வெளியிட்ட நூல் காண்பிக்கிறது.

வேத கணிதம் ஒரு விசேஷ துறையாக ஆகி பல நாடுகளில் கற்பிக்கப்படுகிறது. இது ஒரு வகையில் மின்னல் வேகக் கணிதம் தான். கால்குலேட்டரும் தேவையில்லை; கம்ப்யூட்டரும் தேவையில்லை!

இசை, நாடகம், வாத்திய இசை என இப்படி நுண்கலைகளை எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள், சிற்பம், கட்டுமானம் என இதர கலைகளையும் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள் அபாரமான புத்தகாங்கள் சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் உள்ளன. இடத்தைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதிலிருந்து கட்டி முடிக்கும் வரை கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய நுட்பங்கள இந்த நூல்கள் தருகின்றன!

ரிக், யஜூர், சாம, அதர்வண வேதத்திலிருந்து சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியங்கள் ஆரம்பிக்கின்றன.

அதன் ஆறு அங்கங்களாக சிக்ஷா (Phonetics), கல்பம் (Ritualistic literature), இலக்கணம் (Grammer), நிருக்தம் (etymology), சந்தம் (Metric), ஜோதிடம் – வானவியல் (Astronomy) ஆகியவை உள்ளன.

வேத சம்ஹிதைகள், பிராமணங்கள் பெரிய தொகுப்பைக் கொண்டவை.

இதற்குப் பின்னர் சூத்ரங்கள் உள்ளன. சுலபமாக பெரிய பெரிய விஷயங்களை மனனம் செய்து கொண்டு நினைவில் இருத்திக் கொள்ள வழி வகுப்பவை சூத்ரங்கள்.

பின்னர் ஸ்மிருதிகள் ஏராளம் உள்ளன. மனு ஸ்மிருதியில் ஆரம்பித்து முக்கியமான 24 ஸ்மிருதிகள் இன்றும் படிக்கக் கிடைக்கின்றன; அபாரமான அறிவு சார்ந்த விஷயங்களை அவை விளக்குகின்றன; பிரமிப்பூட்டுகின்றன.

அரசியல், பொருளாதார நூல்களும் சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் உண்டு. சாணக்கியரின் அர்த்த சாஸ்திரம் குறிப்பிடத்தகுந்த ஒன்று.

இராமாயணம், மஹா பாரதம்,18 பிரதான புராணங்கள், 18 உப புராணங்கள் என பல லட்சம் ஸ்லோகங்களைக் கொண்ட நூல்கள் அதிசயிக்கத் தக்கவை; அறிவு சார்ந்தவை; மனதை மயக்குபவை; காலத்தை வென்றவை.

அடுத்து காவியங்கள் என எடுத்துக் கொண்டால் காளிதாஸனிலிருந்து ஏராளமான கவிஞர்களின் படைப்புகளைப் படித்துக் களிக்க முடியும்.

இதில் ஒரு முக்கியமான விஷயம் வேத காலத்திலிருந்து தற்காலம் வரை பெண்கள் சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் அளித்த படைப்புகளாகும்.

மற்ற நாடுகளில் நீலச் சாயத்தைப் பூசிக் கொண்டு உடலின் அந்தரங்கங்களை இலை தழையால் மறைத்துக் கொண்டு அந்த நாட்டவர் வாழ்ந்த நாட்களிலேயே, ஹிந்து தேசத்தவர் நாகரிக உடைகளை அணிந்து, நுட்பமான கலைகளைக் கொண்டு மகிழ்ச்சியாக திருப்தியாக வாழ்ந்தனர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தகுந்த ஆதார பூர்வமான ஒரு விஷயம்.

இந்த வகையில் நம் ஒவ்வொருவரின் கடமையும் இந்த நூல்களில் நமக்குத் தேவையான சில நூல்களையேனும் படிப்பதே ஆகும்; சம்ஸ்கிருதம் தெரியாதவர் தமிழ், ஹிந்தி, ஆங்கிலம் உள்ளிட்ட மொழிகளில் உள்ள உரைகளுடன் கூட அவற்றைப் படித்துப் பயன் பெறலாம்.

இந்த நூல்கள் புத்தகங்களாக வெளி வர ஆதரவு தரலாம்.

உபந்யாசங்களைக் கேட்டு உபந்யாசகர்களை ஊக்குவிக்கலாம். சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியங்களை வெளிக் கொணரும் யாருக்கேனும் உதவி செய்யலாம்.

நிதி மிகுந்தவர் பொற்குவை தாரீர்

நிதி குறைந்தவர் காசுகள் தாரீர்

அதுவுமற்றவர் வாய்ச்சொல் அருளீர்

ஆண்மையாளர் உழைப்பினை நல்கீர்

என்ற பாரதியாரின் வாக்கை நினைத்துக் கொண்டு அவரவர் சக்திக்குத் தக்கபடி சம்ஸ்கிருத இலக்கியங்களை முழுமையாகப் பெறும் முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டால் புகழோங்கிய பண்டைய காலத்தை பாரதம் அடையும்; பாரினை வழி நடத்தும்!

There had been a series of severe electrical storm s In Oorange, New Jersey and the vestrymen of a certain church in that town had discussed the advisability of placing lightning rods on the edifice. So they went on to call Thomas Edison, the inventor, to get his opinion.

“I think, Sir”, said their spokesperson, “the lightning rods are a mighty good thing on a building. What do you think?”
“What sort of building is this ?” Asked Edison impatiently.

“A church”.

“By all means put them on”, said the great inventor.
“You know Provident is absent minded sometimes”.

In the later years of his ministry, the southern preacher Jerome D Engel, became slightly hard of hearing. A legend has it that at one service during the announcement period, Engel informed the congregation about new hymnal S which were being ordered and which were to be purchased individually by the congregation. When he had finished the announcement, the Deacon of the church rose to remind the audience that the following Sunday was the regular day for the baptism of infants.

Engel, not hearing clearly, and thinking that the deacon had made reference to the books, hastily added,


All you who haven’t any , can get as many as you want, by calling on me, at 75 cent a piece.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PREACHING


A woman engaged an Irish maid from the city to serve at her country estate. The girl was a devout catholic and suffered from the fact that the only church of any description within reach of her new place of employment was a Christian Science temple. Feeling the necessity to worship in somewise she at last attended service there . Upon her return her employer asked


“Well, Mary, how did you like the Christian Science services?”


“Faith, said Mary, it was mighty quare. I went in and sat down and after a time a man on one side of the church got up and told what Mary Baker Eddy had done for him. Then another man got up and told what Mary Baker eddy done for him. And next a woman in front of me got up and told what Mary Baker eddy done for her, and it went on until I couldn’t it stand it any longer and I got right up and told what Lydia E Pinkham had done for me”.
