BIG BANG!

What is the Big Bang?

Big Bang in astronomy, is the hypothetical explosive event that marked the origin of the universe as we know it. At the time of the Big  Bang, the entire universe was squeezed into a hot , super dense state. The Big Bang event threw this composite material outwards producing the expanding universe. The cause of the Big Bang is unknown; observations of the current rate of expansion of the universe suggests it took place about 10-20 billion years ago —Hutchinson Encyclopaedia

According to Hindu Yuga calculation, it happened about 15 billion years ago.

The Big Bang is described in the Rig Veda 6000 or 7000 years ago. Cosmologists wonder that such a thought occurred to one or two seers on the banks of River Sarasvati in India. Hindus are great cosmologists that the same creation is described in several Brahmanas, Puranas and Manau Smrti as well.

Creation Hymn: Nasadiya Sukta

The following remarkable passage from the Rig Veda (10-129) describes the creation of the universe.

“There was then (in the beginning) neither non-entity nor entity; there was no atmosphere, nor sky above. What enveloped all? Where in the receptacle of what (was it contained)? Was it water, the profound abyss? Death was not there, nor immortality; there was distinction of day or night. That one breathed calmly, self-supported; there was nothing different from, or above it.

In the beginning darkness existed, enveloped in darkness. All this was undistinguishable water. That one which lay void, and wrapped in nothingness, was developed by the power of fervour. Desire first arose in it. which was the primal germ of mind; and which sages, searching with their intellect, have discovered it in their heart to be the bond which connects entity with non-entity.

The ray (cord) which stretched across these worlds, was it below or above? There were there impregnating powers and mighty forces, a self-supporting principle beneath and energy above. Who knows, who here can declare, whence has sprung this creation?”

A beautiful description of the Big bang and the later water enveloped earth. So I see two stages here; one is the Big Bang. Scientists say that they don’t know the cause of the Big Bang. But Hindu seers say that the DESIRE in the god made it happen. The second stage is water every where , of course billions of years after he Big bang. Now we all know that there was only sea and then land emerged and the life first appeared in water.

The Hindu scriptures clearly say that the water had the life seeds, impregnated ny the rain god.

How did the Hindu seers get such a thought about cosmology (Big bang) 6000 years before the Western cosmologists/astronomers? Did they find it by intuition? They also knew that TIME is cyclical. It happens again and again. Western scientists still do not know it.

Manu also says in the first chapter of Manava Dharma Shastra:

“This universe was enveloped in darkness, uperceived, undistinguishable, undiscoverable, unknowable, as it were entirely sunk in sleep. Then the irresistible , self-existent Lord, undiscerned, causing this universe with the five elements and all other things to become discernible, was manifested, dispelling the gloom. He who is beyond the cognisance of the senses, subtle, undiscernible and eternal, who in the essence of all beings, and inconceivable, himself shone forth. He, DESIRING, seeking to produce various creatures from his own body, first created the waters, and deposited in them the sed. This became a golden egg, resplendent as the sun, in which he himself was born as Brahma, the progenitor of all the world. That Lord having continued one year ( not our year Brahma’s year), divided it into two parts by his mere thought. With these two shells, he formed the heaven and earth, and in the middle placed the sky (atmosphere), the eight regions and the eternal abode of waters.”

Wherever science said unknown, there Hindus introduced God. The Five elements (Pancha Bhuta) concept, The Floods (Pralaya) concept, Life from the water concept,  Heaven and earth concept—all these things spread to Babylonia and Greece from India. Vedas were the earliest literature to describe anything in the universe is globular. Now we know that the earth and other planets are globular or round and the universe itself is expanding as a round balloon! So this is also a Hindu discovery. How did they know it? That is the greatest mystery. And they say that there will be a Big Shrink and then it starts again with another Brahma.

If a scientist or an atheist begin to think what was there before the Big Bang? How did or where did it come from? he will become mad and stop thinking at one stage. Because if you something came from something then one would question how did that something came? and where from did it come? So it is a never ending enquiry. Hindus said that its God’s will or desire. So, they recognised the existence of God before the Big bang or the creation. And they told the world that God is eternal. So, no more questions arose!

Nasadiya Suktam in the Rig Veda shows that the Vedic Hindus were well advanced in Astronomy and cosmology. They were great mathematicians and used decimal system in almost all the hymns 6000 0r 7000 years ago! Now if anyone says that the Vedic Hindus were nomads and pastoral people we can have a good laugh. The foreign “scholars” look like pukka idiots in front of this Vedic seer who gave us the Nasadiya (creation) sukta.

The Nasadiya Hymns (RV 10-129) traces the creation of the existent to the non-existent. One must read much between the lines to fit it in a true metaphysical pattern. But from the text itself it is obvious that the poet succeeded in stretching his imagination to a point of time when creation had not yet come into being ( before the Big Bang!). He can visualize the primal darkness of non-existence and the complete void in Time and Space. He has a dim misty vision – but a powerful and gripping one all the same – of being slowly emerging of non being. The power of the hymn lies in this vision.

In another essay, we will see what the great scholars say about this creation hymn.

Long Live the Vedas! Long Live the Vedic seers!!

Comets: Shakespeare also believed Hindu Views (Post No.4218)

In Sangam Tamil literature and Hindu epic literature lot of references to comets (dhumaketu) are vailable.; all those references fear the evil effect of the comets. Ancient tamils used both Sanskrit word Dhumam (smoke) and the lieral translation of Dhema Ketu + Pukaik kodi in Purananuru.

Shakespeare also had the same belief about comets in his drama Julius Caesar, Calpurnia says

“When beggars die, there are no comets seen; the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes” Julius Caesar 2-2-30/31

Meaning:

Calpurnia, wife of Julius Caesar, begs her husband not to venture out on this morning, the ides of March. Caesar has spent a restless night and there is a wild storm raging. Calpurnia has had disturbing dreams, as well; crying out three times in her sleep, “They murder Caesar!” She begs him to stay home. Caesar sends word to the priests and they, too, return a warning that Caesar must stay home. Calpurnia is very upset , especially because of the strange events of the preceding evening: reports that a lioness was seen giving birth in the streets of Rome, the dead rising from their graves, warriors fighting in the clouds, reports of horses neighing and dying men groaning, ghosts shrieking. Comets were seen during the night, which Calpurnia interprets as a prophecy of the death of a prince.

Shakespeare had similar views about eclipse which is also in Tamil and Sanskrit books.

Tamil Belief

Meteor
Meteors: Kudalur Kizar (Puram 229) described the effect of a meteor he and his colleagues saw in the sky. They predicted that the Chera King Mantharan Ceral Irumporai would die in seven days time and it came true.

Comets: Like any ancient community Tamils were also afraid of the comets. They used the Sanskrit word ( Dhuma ketu) and Tamil word (Pukai Kodi) for it. Reference: Puram 117and 395 Also in post- Sangam Tamil epic Manimekalai 6-64, 7-74, Silappadikaram 10-102

Tamil Poet Bharati On Halley’s Comet
1.Like a palm tree set on a millet plant,
With a growing tail on a little star,
You blaze forth in kinship with eastern moon
Oh, lustrous comet! I bid you welcome

2.You range over countless crores of Yojanas
They say your endless tail wrought of gas
The softness of which is indeed peerless

  1. They say that yourtail touches the earth too
    An you fare forth with no harm to the poor;
The wise talk of your myriad marvels.

IMPORTANCE OF KRITHIKA NAKSHATRA (Post No.4215)

The following extract from Satapata Brahmana (dated 850 BCE by foreigners) shows that even before the Greeks wrote their literature we have all the stars mentioned in our Vedic literature. So foreigners claim that Hindus borrowed astronomy from the Greeks is  false. They themselves contradict their dates. They believed that Greeks contact came only after Alexander’s invasion.

The following piece shows also how complicated and symbolic is the language of the Brahmanas.

it is interesting to note that Tamil Sangam literature says that the Tamils celebrated the marriages under the star Rohini (see my earlier research article).

It is also noteworthy that Agni, Krithika Star (the Pleiades) and Lord Kartikeya are always linked in later Puranas. This has its  origin in the Vedas. in short, Hindu astronomy is older than the Greek literature. But in the time of Aryabhata, some new elements were introduced in to Hindu astronomy. Since we have lost enormous amount of Vedic literature we may never know who proposed those things first.

Vedic astronomers calculated that Pleiades was rising star at the horizon around 2100 BCE. So this will help us to date the Satapata Brahmana.

“The priest may set up fire (Yaga fire) under the Pleiades (Krithika nakshatra) for the Pleiades are Agni’s constellation (asterism) so that if he sets up fire under Agni’s constellation he will bring about a correspondence between his fires and the constellation.

For this reason be may setup his fires under the Pleiades. The Pleiades are the most numerous  of asterisms; hence he thereby obtains an abundance. For this reason he may set up his fires under the Pleiades. And again they do not move away do move from the eastern quarter. Thus his two fires are established in the eastern quarter; for this reason be may up his fires under The Pleiades.

On the other hand it is argued why he should not set up fires under the Pleiades originally the later ( the Pleiades) were the wives of the Bears (Rikshas or the Ursa Major = the great bear constellation). for the seven rishis (Saptarishi) were in former times called Rikshas. They (the Pleiades) were however precluded from intercourses with their husbands, for the latter ( the Seven Rishis) rise in the north and the  the Pleiades  in the east.

Now it is a misfortune for one to be precluded from intercourse with his wife. He should set fires under the Pleiades. He therefore should not set up fires under the Pleiades lest he should thereby be precluded from intercourse. But he may nevertheless set up his fire under the Pleiades; for Agni doubtless is their mate, and it is with Agni that they have intercourse.

for this reason he may set up fire under the Pleiades’ He may also set up his fire under the  constellation of Rohinii for under Rohini it was that Prajapati, when desirous of progeny, set up his fires. He created beings, and the creatures produced by him remained invariable and constant, like red cows ;hence the cow like nature of Rohini. Rich in cattle and offspring therefore he becomes- whosoever, knowing this, sets up fires under Rohini. Under Rohini indeed, the cattle set up their fires thinking that they may attain to (ruh) the desire or love of men. They did attain the desire of men; and whatever desire the cattle then obtained in regard to men, that same desire he (the sacrificer) obtains in regard to cattle, whosoever  knowing this, sets up his fire under Rohini.

Satapata Brahmana . 2.1-2-1-7

Ursa Major= Saptarishi= Great Bear

In the time of Alexander the Great the Hindus did not claim greater antiquity than 6777 B. c. The mode of reckoning adopted by the Hindus by which they got the Yugas is very simple. Given the precession of 49-8 seconds as determined by Hipparchus, the period of one revolution through the whole circle of 360 degrees would be  26,024 and16/166 (fraction) years. Getting rid of the fraction in the usual way by multiplying by 166 and adding the 16 we have 4,320,000 years – a Yuga.   The same result is obtained by Parasara;s precession of 46-5 or Aryabhata’s 46-2

Hindus Invented Helmet and Turban!!(Post No.4072)

Who invented Helmets and Turbans? It is Hindus who invented the helmets and turbans according to the Vedas.

Here is the proof:

Aitareya Brahmana, oldest Brahmana, ends with a remarkable spell. It is used against the enemies.

“All enemies and foes of him who knows this ceremony die round about him. Round him five deities are dying i.e lightning, rain, moon, sun and fire. The rain when fallen is absorbed by the moon which disappears; the moon at the time of the new is absorbed by the sun which disappears and out of fire the sun is born…..From the sun the moon is born………..From the moon the rain is born…..From rain lightning is born. In this way from the the moon the rain is born…..From rain, lightning is born………..In this way he puts his enemy down even should he wear a STONE HELMET (i.e well armed)”

Here the simile ‘Stone helmet’ shows that the Vedic society used it during wars. In the Near East we have some evidence for the use of helmet from 900 BCE. There is no wonder that the Vedic literature, which is older than the Assyrian  also mentioned it.

Helmet is called ‘Sipraa’ in the Vedas. It is found in several places in the Rig Veda and other Vedic books (pages 379 and 380 of Volume 2 of Vedic Index have all the references. But scholars are not able to agree on the meaning.)

Asvins use Ayah sipra (iron helmets) RV 1-101-10

Hiranya (gold) sipra, Hari sipra (Yellow) and Hiri sipra are also mentioned. The references are in the oldest and newest sections of the Rig Veda.

This shows that the Vedic society was a very advanced civilization. They fought wars wearing helmets. They celebrated Yagas wearing turbans. Head gear was an important part of their life. Indus Valley gods have horned crowns.

Turban

No Vedic ceremony is done without a turban. The chief (Yajaman) is made to wear a turban. Even in the temple Kumbabishekam ceremonies and Yagas we see the chief priest wears a turban. It is called Usniisa in the Vedic literature. Brahmana literature says that the Vratyas (Siddhas of Vedic days) also wore this Usniisa.

Vedic Index by Keith and Macdonell says

“Usniisa denotes the turban by the Vedic Indians, men and women alike (Aitareya Brahmana 6-1). The Vratya’s turban is expressly referred to in the Atharva Veda (15-2-1) and Pancavimsa Brahmana. A turban is also worn at the Vajapeya and the Rajasuya ceremonies by the king as a token of his position ( Satapata Brahmana 5-3-5-23)

In the wedding ceremonies of several communities we see the bridegroom wearing turbans.

Turbans and helmets are Hindus’ inventions. Sikh community, who are from the land of Vedas, wear this as a religious symbol.

‘Body Beats: Using Sound to spot Cancer’ – Passive Elastography is a technique that can non-invasively study tumours deep inside the body

Natural sound waves made by the human body can be used to diagnose cancers and other diseases non-invasively at the earliest stages, scientists say.

Elastography, sometimes referred as ‘seismology of the human body’, is an emerging technology used to enhance medical ultrasound imaging.

The technology is used to measure the elasticity of biological tissue to diagnose cancer or liver disease more accurately, researchers said.

The idea , as in seismology, is to take advantage of shear waves naturally present in the human body due to muscles activities to construct a shear elasticity map of soft tissues,” Mr Catheline said. ”It is thus a passive elastography approach since no shear wave sources are used,” he said.

Passive elastography is compatible with slow imaging devices.

Any sound, if rotated 360 degrees, can nurse chronically ill patients back to health,”pasycho-physicist” Sajal Bandopadhyay claims.

In a major breakthrough , Bandopadhyay had last year succeeded in rotating sound.  A team of psychologists had been researching the therapeutic potential of this discovery. Under the leadership of Dr Arnab Banerjee, they had tried out the rotating sound on patients at the Sevak Hospital.

The world’s longest and oldest epic Mahabharata has lot of scientific information. I have already written about the Time Travel, Nuclear Weapons, Acupuncture, Test Tube Babies, Mysterious Births, Siamese Twins, Sex Change Surgeries, Mysterious birds etc. found in the epic.

There are some unexplained stories such as man giving birth to babies and getting babies by inhaling smoke created by herbs etc. in the Mahabharata. Science has come to our help to understand them better.

Man can produce babies!

Mandhata was born out of the body of his father king Yavanashwa who unknowingly had drunk water which had been specially prepared for his queens by the seers. Not having a mother Mandhata was brought up by sucking at the ‘forefinger of Indra’. It is found in the 3rd and seventh Parvas (books) of Mahabharata.

In the 13th book (Parva) of Mahabharata we find another interesting case of male giving birth to babies. Bhangasvana was a king of ancient times. As he was childless, he undertook a Yajna (fire ceremony) and obtained a number of children. Later he was turned into a woman. Then he produced one more set of babies.

In addition to this we have a few famous transgender people who took part in the battle. So ,in the light of latest scientific facts, we may interpret these stories as males giving birth to children.

Another big revolution is coming! Artificial wombs inserted into female mice were successful in making babies. In future, all the infertile women can have babies. As newer and newer things are invented our knowledge of the epics also increase.

Following two stories appeared in London Newspapers this year:-

Amy’s daughter Hayden

Pregnant Man gives Birth to His Own Daughter! Mahabharata Story is True!

THE world’s first pregnant man was Thomas Beatie — dad of three kids.

Thomas, 42, was born a female but had hormone treatment while keeping his female reproductive organs.

He became pregnant for the first time in 2007 with triplets but lost them to ectopic pregnancy.

Thomas, of Phoenix, Arizona, US, went on to have three kids using donor sperm.

Canadian Trevor MacDonald, 31, revealed last year how he breast-fed his first child in a men’s toilet in a restaurant.

He said: “It was this weird scenario.”

Expecting his second child, he headed to a hospital at night to find a security guard demanding to know why a bearded man needed emergency access to an obstetrics unit.

Britain’s unnamed first “male mother” gave birth to a girl in 2011.

In the same year, Yuval Topper, 24, gave birth in Israel.

Spanish transsexual Ruben Noe Coronado Jimenez was reportedly pregnant with twins in 2009 before having a miscarriage.

Pregnant Man Chris

Story 1

A husband has revealed how he carried and gave birth to his own daughter – because his wife could not fall pregnant.

Pictured sporting a beard as he showed off his pregnant belly, Chris Rehs-Dupin tells how he and his wife Amy met and fell in love in their 20s, working at a children’s summer camp. They always knew they definitely wanted a family.

With Chris – who was born Christina – being a pre-op transgender  male, however, they planned for Amy to be the biological mum.

But when five attempts of intrauterine insemination – fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a uterus to facilitate fertilisation – failed, Chris volunteered to carry their baby instead.

He finally gave birth to their now two-year-old daughter, Hayden, naturally on December 20, 2014, after five rounds of IUI treatment and a miscarriage

Having Hayden made Amy even more determined to carry a baby herself and in 2016 she had Milo by caesarean section after a further round of IUI.

And while Chris lived as a man and didn’t feel female, he was willing to use his womb for the good of their family.

But, when Chris finally fell pregnant, despite their excitement, they both struggled with what was happening throughout the pregnancy.

Amy confessed: “When Chris was pregnant it was really difficult, because I always thought I would be the one to carry our children.

Being pregnant was also a confusing time for Chris.

“Some people think men aren’t supposed to carry children, that’s the world we live in. So, I feel like the world would see it as emasculating, that it would make me less trans but not the case for me. For me it was an amazing experiencing.”

The couple also knew they wanted a second child and as there wasn’t a medical reason why Amy couldn’t conceive, they decided to give it another try.

“Seeing Chris carrying our baby increased my yearning to carry a child,” she explained.

In October 2015 Chris had an appointment to start his medical transition.

Then, in January 2016, he began having testosterone injections every 10 days, while Amy fell pregnant in the same month, on her first attempt.

While the baby grew, Chris was undergoing his transition. His facial hair grew, his shoulders broadened and his features became more masculine.

And their experiences, running in tandem, brought them closer.

Amy said: “We’ve been on an incredible journey as a family, but we have two amazing kids and Chris is finally happy in his own body.”

He added: “We would love to have a third child. I hope to have breast reconstruction surgery, but will not have a bottom surgery, or have my ovaries removed, so I haven’t ruled out carrying it. We’ll have to fight over it this time.”

Pregnant Man Hayden Cross

Story 2

Another Man Giving Birth!

PROUD Hayden Cross today becomes the first British man to reveal: “I’m pregnant.” (7th Janauray2017)

The former Superstore  worker, born a girl 20 years ago, is legally male and has begun hormone treatment.

But he put his transition on hold to have a baby with donor sperm.

Hayden, who lives in Gloucester and is four months pregnant, said: “I want the baby to have the best. “I’ll be the greatest dad.”

Dad-to-be Hayden found a sperm donor on Facebook to make himself pregnant after putting his gender change on hold.

Hayden, born a girl 20 years ago, had lived as a man for three years and was taking male hormones — but was desperate to have a baby.

The unemployed former Asda worker asked the NHS to freeze his eggs before he completed his full transition, in the hope he might have children years later.

“In September I got pregnant by a sperm donation.

“I found the donor on the internet.

“I looked on Facebook for a group and found one — it’s been shut down now.

“I didn’t have to pay.

“The man came to my house, he passed me the sperm in a pot and I did it via a syringe.

“I felt I’d no choice, I couldn’t afford a proper clinic.

“I don’t know who the bloke was.

“To be honest I can’t remember anything about him.

“He wouldn’t even tell me his name.

“He didn’t want any contact.

“He said he was just doing it to help people.

“It was the first attempt and it worked.

“I was really lucky.”

Yet Hayden admits he now feels uncomfortable carrying a child and struggles with the physical changes.

He went on: “I found I was pregnant two weeks after the sperm was inserted.

“It was mixed emotions.

“I was happy but I also knew it would be backtracking on my transition.

“Carrying a baby is meant to be a happy time, but in my body it feels wrong.

Vedas are full of mysteries. So-called foreign translators and scholars have bluffed their way through the Vedas for over 250 years. Every book written by a foreigner on the Vedas is a big joke book.  If you look at another foreigner’s book for the meaning or an interpretation for the same word or mantra you will have a big laugh. I have been enjoying such jokes every day.

Number symbolism is in the Vedas from the very beginning. This shows that the Vedic seers are very great intellectuals. They were the inventors of decimal system. No foreigner or an Indian scholar can give a reasonable explanation for such numbers. Though Appar alias Tirunavukkarasar used number symbolism to some extent in the seventh century and later Tirumular and Sivvakkiyar, to name a few, we are not able to get the full meaning of the verses. No wonder Vedas are beyond our reach.

That is why great saints like Kanchi Paramacharya (1894-1994) advised us not to look at the meaning and follow it blindly. A great intellectual like Adi Shankara would appear one day and guide us. Kanchi Paramacharya rightly used an analogy: a blind person holding a lamp was laughed at by the people and he told them that though he was blind he did not want them to stumble upon him when it was dark. We are blind with the Vedic interpretations but if we take the lamp (Vedas) with us it would help others.

Here is the mystery of Number Seventeen in the Soma Yagas and other Yajnas (Fire ceremonies):

Agni with one syllable won speech

The Asvins with two syllables won expiration and inspiration

Visnu with three syllables Three worlds

Soma with four syllables the four- footed cattle

Pusan with five syllables the Pankti

Prajapati with SEVENTEEN syllables, the  SEVENTEEN fold Stoma

–Taittiriya Samhita, Yajur Veda

There are four priests in sacrificial rites: (Hotr, Udgaatr, Adhvaryu, Brahman). They have four assistants. It increased to SEVENTEEN later, with each one allocated different work. Why 17? It is a mystery!

At a Soma sacrifice, in the midday pressing of Soma plants (for juice), a Kshatriya shoots SEVENTEEN arrows to measure out a racing space; then three of the sacrificer’s horses are yoked to his chariot while four horses are yoked to each of his four other chariots. A ritual race takes place to the beating of SEVENTEEN drums and the sacrifice comes out victorious.

The sacrificers drew water from Sarasvati, Sindhu rivers, streams, tanks and stored rain water; altogether SEVENTEEN kinds of water were used in the fire sacrifices. Why 17? It is a mystery.

So many rituals like this are unexplainable. When William Jones pointed out the similarities between European languages and Sanskrit these people said Aryans migrated into India from outside.

Thousands of customs and rituals in the Vedas and Hindu epics are found nowhere outside India. If at all some traces are found, there the Hindu influence is very visible. This shows Hindus went outside several thousand years ago from India to different places on earth and slowly they lost their customs or changed or adapted them to suit the local needs. Number SEVENTEEN is one of them.

Rare coincidence! This article is written on SEVENTEENTH of May 2017

Mantra, Tantra and Yantra -Tamil Poet and Particle Physics Agree (Post No.3843)

An old Tamil poem written by an anonymous author in ‘Neethi Venpa’, an anthology of didactic poems, gives us valuable information about God and Guru, Mantra, Yantra and Tantra.

The poet says: “If you have faith in God, Guru (spiritual teacher), Mantra (Vedic Hymns etc.), Tantra (Tantric Texts; left handed rituals), Yantra (Magical letters on metal plates), Medicine, Initiation methods of ascetics – all these seven will come true only when you have faith in them; if you don’t believe them, they will not be fruitful”.

This statement becomes more relevant and gets new meaning in the context of scientists’ latest discoveries. There are lot of articles appearing in science journals about the Placebo effect and Particle physics.

Patients who are given fake (placebo) medicines, without their knowledge, are cured faster than the patients who took real medicine. The scientists have found out that faith plays a major role in the treatment.

In the same way, the particle physics says that even the observer can influence the result of an action. People were wondering how come the religion and science are very different in producing results. They asked if two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen react with each other and produce water for everyone in any laboratory in the world, why not the religious rituals do this? We read about miracles performed by the saints, but ordinary men can’t do miracle. Moreover, the same saint cannot do the miracle for everyone, every time, why?

Now that we know observer can interact with the things or actions he watches; Everything is dependent upon the intensity of the observer’s thoughts. I guess the more powerful the observer is, better results are achieved. More research into particle physics will bring out more truths about Hindu beliefs. In the next fifty years or so, scientists will agree with the Hindu saints in full. They will also agree with us that Time Travel is possible mentally (not physically) without interfering in the past or future. I can compare it with the pdf and word versions of a document. You can’t edit it in pdf version. Like that, we can’t edit the past, future and present. But you can watch it (read only document). Only great saints can interfere in it.

Space ships and Special Prayer Days (Posted 10 February 2012)

The title may look strange to many of you. You may wonder what a spaceship has got to do with special prayer days. I would like to explain why Hindus insist doing prayers on special days and at special times and in earmarked places. If the prayers are done by great saint’s miracles do happen. But when we do the same, no such miracles occur. Why?

Hindus believe that praying on festival days like Shivratri, Durgashtami, Ganesh Chathurthy, Kanda Shasti, Janmashtami, Rama Navami etc will increase the benefits many folds. Praying during solar or lunar eclipse will also boost the power of our prayers is a popular belief. Hindu scriptures support this belief. Is it true that certain places or certain days or certain times are more beneficial than other days? Yes, it is true.

When Adi Shankara sang the Kanakadhara Stotram a shower of golden gooseberries (amalaka) fell from the heaven for the sake of a poor devoted lady. When Saivite Nayanmars and Vaishnavite Alwars sang hymns, hundreds of miracles happened. It is the same old story with a lot of saints like Nivritti, Jnandev, Sopana, Muktabhai, Eknath,Namdev, Tukaram, Ramdas, Chaitanya,  Shirdi Saibaba, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Ramana and many more Babas.

Why doesn’t God answer our prayers when we sing the same old hymns sung by our saints?

Let’s look at this example:

If you want to send a spaceship into space orbit or beyond that point you need to plan a lot of things. You can’t launch a spaceship from anywhere on earth. You must have a space station at a vantage point, most times near the sea or uninhabited places. Moreover the latitude and longitude of that place must be taken into account. For example, it is advantageous if the launch pad is nearer the equator.

You have to design a rocket which exceeds a speed of at least eight miles per second (11.2 kilometres/second). This is called escape velocity. Then you must have sufficient energy to lift the rocket. The heavier the rocket, the more fuel you need to get to this speed. Then you must have an aim – like the Moon or Mars, and do the calculations accordingly and correctly. If you make even a small mistake in the calculation, the space pod at the tip of the rocket may fall back on earth or travel several thousand miles away from its destination. We often read of such failures in the newspapers. Most space missions to Mars have failed.

For launching every rocket they have Launch Windows. They have to fire the rocket at a specific time. If they miss it they have to wait for another like that. This is especially true when scientists want to launch a spaceship to a particular planet: they have to calculate the orbit of that planet and the time it comes closest to earth etc. If they want to use the ‘gravitational slingshot’ to speed up the journey, they have to adhere to a particular time. This will save an enormous amount of fuel.

One can apply this principal to prayers on special days or by special people:

We must have some aim and focus only on it (like the space ship). We must make great preparations like selecting a particular place, day and time (like launch windows). We must have enough fuel (number of times or recitation of mantra) and right speed (intensity of prayer). If our ego, hatred, desire, bad thoughts etc. are eliminated then the prayer becomes fruitful. We attain ‘escape velocity’ for our prayers and it goes straight in to orbit (of God). Since saints like Adi Shankara, Ramanuja, Madhwa, Chaitanya or Yogis and Rishis knew these “launch windows” and they attained the escape velocity easily for their prayers to achieve great success. But we always waiver, make the wrong calculations and the wrong demands so our rockets (prayers) easily fail.

Special festival days are like launch windows – they are the right time for our prayers to be sent. Our prayers will easily reach the target. Festival days act like gravitational slingshots – our prayers, even if you recite the mantra just 100 times, are boosted several thousand times. In short it reaches its destination and gives you the expected results quickly.

Nowadays there are lot of websites and blogs to explain the scientific basis of Hindu rituals and beliefs. I have also written hundreds of articles in this blog. But I was surprised to read an article by Dr Balakrishna M.A., Ph.D. in the Dr Modi Memorial Volume published in 1930.Dr Balakrishna listed at least 46 discoveries of Hindu forefathers. Here is a summary of his nine page article written in 1930 or earlier.

1.The Indo- Aryans, whether they constitute the oldest race on this planet or not, surely developed a great civilization at some unknown antiquity. Theirs might be called the earliest civilization in the known annals of mankind.

2.Several scholars have shown numerous evidences of the Indian influence on Greek thought, literature, customs and political institutions, but others vigorously reject every idea of the Indianization of the Hellenistic culture

3.The speculations of the Vedic and Upanishadic writers are antecedent to all attempts of the Greek mind to dive deep into the mysteries of the world around. The similarity of Zoroastrianism to the Atharvan (Vedic) religion, the worship of the four Vedic Gods such as Agni, Mitra, Indra Asvins in Assyria, and the Greek tradition of the travel of Thales, Pythagoras, Empedocles, Anaxagoras, Democritus and other philosophers into the Oriental countries, and of their acquaintance with Arabs, Chaldeans, Hebrews, Galatians and Indians, in a word, with all the inspired people of the East – all these should lead us to the conclusion that the Greek mind was more or less influenced by Indian Philosophy.

Indian Roots of Pythagoreanism

The close similarity of Pythagoreanism with the Hindu philosophy in the worship of god as Tatragmation; the doctrine of five elements, the immortality and transmigration of souls, tripartite soul, the communion with gods, the miraculous powers of the soul, and of the esoteric circle of the initiated; the belief of Pythagoreans in periodic cycle and the kinship of all living creatures, their love of mysticism, asceticism and spiritualism; their pantheistic tendencies; their belief in magic; abstinence from animal diet except when the animals were sacrificed to the gods; the regular performance of Homa; the Pythagorean theorem in particular, and, in general, mathematics, medicine and music, these analogies should lead one to the same conclusion.

Hence Dr Grabe positively asserts that there seems to be no doubt abaout the dependence of Pythagoras upon Indian philosophy and science; and all the more so, as the Greeks themselves considered his doctrines as foreign.

Indian Origin of Orphicism

Again, the cult of Orphicism with its Hindu doctrines of ecstacy, asceticism, soul-culture and abstension from animal food, its systems of purification and sacraments for the redemption of the soul, its belief in a written revelation, its organisation of initiated ‘communities’ or religious fraternities, its faith I the happier lot of the purified and the initiated and, lastly, its creed of the ‘wheel of birth’ of the transmigration of souls or the reincarnation, rather imprisonment, of souls in animal and vegetable forms – these facts show at least some influence of Indian philosophy on the Greek mind.

Similar Systems of Indian and Greek Philosophy

The Greek theories of pantheism, hedonism and mysticism are profoundly similar to those enunciated in India. The identity of divine pantheons, of religious beliefs and practises, especially of language is no less perplexing. The Indian and Greek systems of philosophy built upon these bases have remarkable resemblance.

The teachings of Xenophanes, Parmendies and other Eleatics seem to be parodies of the Upanishadic verses.

The views of Heraclitus, Anaximander, Empedocles, Democritus, Epicurus, Plato and Neo-Platonists, present many striking analogies with the Sankhyan doctrine.

Hindu Discoveries

The Hindus were the earliest pre-cursors of the European scientists and philosophers in anticipating and formulating important theories bearing directly or indirectly upon the central doctrine of evolution. The list of such discoveries will show that their scientific contributions were not insignificant.

  1. The Atomic Theory.
  2. Ether as the prima materia.
  3. The Ether Theory of Light.
  4. The Law of Evolution
  5. Spontaneous Evolution of the Cosmos
  6. The Law of Nihil ex nihilo
  7. Nebular Theory.
  8. Emanation Theory.
  9. The Law of the Constancy of Matter,
  10. The Law of the Conservation of Energy.
  11. The Theory of the Dematerialization of Matter.
  12. The Theory of the Unification of Energy.
  13. The doctrine of the unity and Convertibility of human energy and natural forces.
  14. The Procreatrix of the Cosmos is energy and not Matter. 15. Matter is a form of Energy.
  15. The Theory of Abiogenesis.
  16. The Theory of Biogenesis.
  17. Soul-a physiological product,
  18. Mind a -material evolution.
  19. Consciousness–a material evolution.
  20. Sense organs are phenomenal.
  21. Physical origin of life.
  22. The Theory of Epigenesis.
  23. The theory of cosmozoa.
  24. Corpuscular theory.
  25. Life and Consciousness in plants.
  26. Fertilization of plants by insects.

28, Circulation of blood.

  1. circulation of the sap in trees.
  2. Cell Theory,
  3. The theory of the control of sex.
  4. Laws of Eugenics
  5. Laws of Heredity.
  6. Effects of exogamy and endogamy.

35, Physical interpretation of character.

  1. Relation of food and mind.
  2. Theories of the origin of colour.
  3. Factors of the variation of species
  4. Theory of progressive social evolution.
  5. Theory of social retrogression.
  6. The law of the survival of the fittest.
  7. The state as a necessary evil.
  8. The state as a necessary good.
  9. The state, a divine institution
  10. The Hobbesian theory of warfare.
  11. Theory of Social Contract.

Some of these theories can be traced in one form or another in Greek philosophy. Hence there are striking parallelisms in all the important spheres of thought of the Indians and Hellenes. This profound similarity of Greek and Indian speculations on cosmogony and other problems of life, has led many to the conclusion that Greek thought is the inspired child of Indian philosophy.
