சம்மன் அனுப்பியும் சாமிநாத சாஸ்திரி கோர்ட்டுக்கு வராததற்கு ஜோதிடமே காரணம்!

 

பிரிட்டிஷ் லைப்ரரியில் 1923 ஆம் ஆண்டில் அச்சிடப்பட்ட ‘தனபாக்கியம் அல்லது அகட விகட பொக்கிஷம்’ என்ற புத்தகத்தைப் பார்த்தேன். அதில் ஒரு நகைச்சுவை (ஹாஸ்ய) கட்டம். சாமிநாத சாஸ்திரி என்பவர், நீதிமன்ற சம்மன் கிடைத்தும் ஏன் கோர்ட்டுக்கு வரவில்லை என்று சாக்குப்போக்கு சொல்லுகிறார். இது அந்தக் காலத்தில் இருந்த ஜோதிட, சகுன சாஸ்திர நம்பிக்கைகளைக் காட்டுவதால், அந்தப் பக்கங்களை மட்டும் கீழே கொடுக்கிறேன். இப்பொழுதும், பஞ்சாங்கத்திலும் சில நாட்காட்டி காலண்டர்களிலும் இந்த விஷயங்கள் இருக்கின்றன. பலருக்கும் புரிவதில்லை; பலர் நம்புவதில்லை; இன்னும் பலர் நம்பினாலும் செயல் ரீதியில் பின்பற்றுவது சாத்தியப்படுவதில்லை:

2.Dog and Perfume

 

The story is told of an ingenious young man who desired to present his sweet heart with a gift. He decided that perfume would be appropriate, but he did not know the name of the brand she used, and was too shy to ask her. He solved the problem by taking her little pet dog for a walk. Snatching the animal into a store , he proceeded to instruct the astonished clerk to wave the stoppers of a large number  of perfumes under the nose of the rather indifferent dog. At last came a perfume which caused the animal to jump up excitedly and wag its tail. On this evidence he bought his gift which turned out to be right.

3.How to bargain?

 

It happened on one of those downtown Manhattan streets where the cloak and suitors rush out and seize the passerby by the arm. Look, said one of them eagerly to the man he seized

 

A fine suit, the best, nice cut, fine quality materials. To you fifteen dollars.

 

No, said the customer trying to break from him .

Look said the clothier dragging his victim a little closer to the shop, a special cut , with cuffs even ; the last suit. To you a special 12 dollars.

 

“No”, said the man trying to pull free.

 

An opportunity that that shouldn’t be passed up, continued the salesman, look because it is early, to start the day right the first sale 8 dollars.

 

“Nothing doing”, snarled the customer.

 

“My god”, wailed the proprietor, throwing his hands up into the air, such a person. “To make the thing right,to start the day. I started some I should finish it. I am giving it to you for nothing”.

 

“Not without two pairs of pants!”, said the customer

ஒருசிறுவனுக்குச் சூரியனைப் பார்க்க ஆசை ஏற்பட்டது. “அம்மா! எனக்கு சூரியனைக் காட்டு” என்றான். அம்மா, ஒரு மெழுகுவர்த்தியை ஏற்றிக்கொண்டு வாசலுக்கு வந்தாள். அதை உயர்த்தி “இதோ பார்! சூரியன்” என்று காட்டினாள். அந்தப் பையனுக்கே சிரிப்பு வந்துவிட்டது. “சூரியனைக் காட்ட, எதற்கம்மா மெழுகுவர்த்தி?” என்றும் கேட்டுவிட்டான். இதை வேடிக்கை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பக்கத்து வீட்டுக்காரர்களுக்கும் சிரிப்பு தாங்கவில்லை. இதே கதைதான் தினமும் கோவிலில் நடக்கிறது.

 

கோவில் ஆரத்தியின்போது, ஐயர்கள் பலவிதமான தீபங்களை ஏற்றி சுவாமி சிலைக்கு முன் காட்டுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் இந்த ஐயர்கள் சாதாரணமானவர்கள் இல்லை. அவர்கள் மெத்தப் படித்த மேதைகள். வானியலை நன்கு அறிந்த பரம்பரையில் வந்த விஞ்ஞானிகள் அவர்கள். இன்று வானியல் அறிஞர்கள் பல்லாயிரம் கோடி சூரியன்கள் இருக்கின்றன என்று சொல்லுவதற்கு முன்பே, பல ஆயிரம் சூரிய மண்டலங்கள் இருக்கின்றன என்பதை அறிந்தவர்கள் கோவில் ஐயர்கள்!

மாணிக்கவாசகர் போன்ற தமிழ்ப் பெரியோர்கள் இதைத் தெள்ளத் தெளிவாகவே பாடி வைத்துள்ளனர். ஆகையால் தீபாராதனை காட்டும் ஐயர்கள், கடோபநிஷத்திலிருந்து ஒரு மந்திரத்தைச் சொல்லி தீப ஆராதனை செய்கின்றனர். இதோ அந்த மந்திரம்:–

 

ந தத்ர சூர்யோ பாதி ந சந்திர தாரகம்

நேமா வித்யுதோ பாதி குதோ அயமக்னி:

தமேவ பாந்தமனுபாதி சர்வம்

தஸ்ய பாசா சர்வமிதம் விபாந்தி

 

“அங்கே சூரியன் பிரகாசிப்பதில்லை, சந்திரனோ, நட்சத்திரங்களோ பிரகாசிப்பதில்லை. மின்னல் கீற்றுகளும் அங்கு ஒளிர்வதில்லை. ஆகையால் நான் காட்டும் இந்த தீபம் எம்மாத்திரம்? உன் ஒளியே எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் ஒளியூட்டுகிறது. அதுதான் ஒளிரும் பொருட்களுக்கெல்லாம் ஒளி தருகிறது.”

 

ஐயர்களுக்கும் புரிகிறது. பல்லாயிரம் கோடி சூர்யப் பிரகாசம் உடைய உனக்கு இந்த சின்ன தீபத்தைக் காட்டியவுடன் என்னைப் பார்த்து சிரித்துவிடாதே. உன்னுடைய அளவற்ற ஒளிக்கு முன்னால் சூரியனோ, சந்திரனோ, நடசத்திரங்களோ பிரகசிக்காது என்பது எனக்கு நன்கு தெரியும். நீயல்லவோ அவைகளுக்கு ஒளியூட்டுகிறாய் என்று சம்ஸ்கிருதத்தில் சொல்லிவிட்டு ஒரு சூட தீபாராதனை காட்டுகிறார். உடனே நாமும் கைகளை உயரத் தூக்கி, கன்னத்தில் போட்டுக் கொண்டு, கடவுள் நாமத்தை உச்சரித்துவிட்டு, பின்னர் தீபாரதனையைக் கண்ணில் ஒத்திக் கொள்கிறோம்.

 

 

மெழுகுவர்த்தி மூலம் சூரியனைக் காட்ட முயன்ற அம்மாவைப் பார்த்து எல்லோரும் சிரித்ததைப் போல என்னைப் பார்த்து சிரித்துவிடாதே; எனக்கு உன் பெருமை தெரியும் என்பது இதில் தொனிக்கிறது

 

இந்துக்களின் வீட்டிலுள்ள சின்னக் குழந்தை கூட, முதலில் சொல்லும் கணபதி துதியில், ‘சூர்ய கோடி சமப்ரபா’ (பத்து மில்லியன் சூரியப் பிரகாசம் உடையவனே!) என்று கடவுளைப் புகழும்.

ஒரு 200, 300 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர், ஐரோப்பியர்களுக்கு ‘டெஸிமல் சிஸ்டமும்’ தெரியாது. பல்லாயிரம் கோடி சூர்யனிருப்பதும் தெரியாது. இப்பொழுதுதான் கண்டுபிடித்தி ருக்கிறார்கள். நாம் அவர்களுக்கு, டெசிமல் சிஸ்டத்தைச் சொல்லித் தந்திராவிடில், கம்ப்யூட்டர், இண்டெர்நெட் – முதலிய எதுவுமே வந்திருக்காது.

 

இனி கோவிலுக்குப் போனால் ஐயர் சொல்லும் அந்த மந்திரத்தை உணர்ந்து கடவுளின் ‘பில்லியன்’ சூரியப் பிரகாசத்தைத் தியானியுங்கள். இவ்வளவு அருமையான, அறிவியல்பூர்வ மந்திரத்தை பல்லாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளாகப் பாதுகாத்துவரும் ஐயர்களுக்கு ஒரு கும்பிடும் போட்டுவிட்டு வாருங்கள்.

 

இதோ மாணிக்கவாசகரின் திருவாசகப் பாடல்:–

அண்டப்குதியின் உண்டைப் பிறக்கம்

அளப்பரும் தன்மை, வளப்பெரும் காட்சி

ஒன்றனுக்கொன்று நின்றெழில் பகரின்

நூற்றொரு கோடியின் மேற்படவிரிந்தன

இல்நுழைகதிரின் துன் அணுப்புரையச்

சிறியவாகப் பெரியோன்

(திருவாசகம்- திருவண்டப் பகுதி)

 

இறைவனோடு ஒப்பிடுகையில், அண்டங்கள்  அனைத்தும் தூசியில் பறக்கும் சிறு துகள்கள் போல ஆகிவிடுகின்றன என்கிறார் அடிகள். அதுமட்டுமல்ல, இதை ‘வளப்பெரும் காட்சி’ என்று வருணிப்பதிலிருந்து, பிரபஞ்சம் பற்றிய அறிவு எல்லோருக்கும் இருந்திருப்பது புலனாகிறது. மாணிக்கவாசகரின் ஒவ்வொரு பாடலும் உபநிஷத உண்மைகளின் தமிழ் வடிவமே என்பதை, சுவாமி சித்பவானந்தரின் திருவாசகப் பேருரையைப் படித்தவர்களுக்குத் தெள்ளிதின் விளங்கும்!

இதோ சம்ஸ்கிருதத்திலும், ஆங்கிலத்திலும், ஐயர்கள் சொல்லும் உபநிஷத மந்திரம்:–

 

न तत्र सूर्यो भाति न चन्द्रतारकं
नेमा विद्युतो भान्ति कुतोऽयमग्निः।
तमेव भान्तमनुभाति सर्वं
तस्य भासा सर्वमिदं विभाति॥१५॥

इति काठकोपनिषदि द्वितीयाध्याये द्वितीया वल्ली॥

 

Na tatra suryo bhati na candra tarakam

nema vidyuto bhanti kutoyam agnihi

tameva bhantam anubhati sarvam

tasya bhasa sarvam idam vibhati

 

There the sun does not shine, nor do the moon and the stars. These streaks of lightning do not shine there either, (so) what to speak of this fire? That, shining, makes all others shine. By virtue of its luminosity, all these (manifestations) are illuminated.

  1. சுற்றுப் புறச் சூழலைப் பாதுகாக்கும் நவீன கண்டுபிடிப்புகள்!

 

       உலகெங்கும் சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழல் சம்பந்தமாக எழுந்துள்ள விழிப்புணர்ச்சியின் காரணமாக பொது மக்களின் பயன்பாட்டிற்காக நவீனக் கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் நாளுக்கு நாள் அறிவியல் வல்லுநர்களால் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்கின்றன. பொது மக்கள் இவற்றை அறிந்து கொண்டு பயன்படுத்த ஆரம்பித்தால் உலகின் சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழல் வெகுவாக மேம்படும்.

 

 

இந்த நவீன கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுள் ஒன்றான எலக்ட்ரிக் பஸ் மின் சக்தியால் இயக்கப்படும் ஒன்று.

 

      உலகின் பல நாடுகளிலும் இயக்கப்படும் இந்த மின்சார பஸ்களில் டீஸல் போன்ற எரிபொருள் இல்லை என்பதால் நச்சுப் புகை வெளியேறும் என்ற பயமே இல்லை. ஆரம்ப காலத்தில் பேட்டரிகளின் எண்ணிக்கையும் அவற்றின் அதிகரித்த எடையும் அடிக்கடி அவற்றை சார்ஜ் செய்ய வேண்டிய அவசியமும் இருந்ததால் அவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்துவதில் சற்று தயக்கம் இருந்தது. ஆனால் இன்றோ வயர்லெஸ் சார்ஜிங் என்ற முறை கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டு இந்தக் குறைபாடுகள் அகற்றப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஆகவே அமெரிக்கா தொடங்கி உருகுவே போன்ற நாடுகள் வரை மின்  பஸ்கள் அதிகமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.குறிப்பாக பள்ளிக்கூட பஸ்கள் மின்சக்தி பஸ்களாக மாறி வருகின்றன.

      அறிவியலின் இன்னொரு கண்டுபிடிப்பு கடலில் சிந்தும் எண்ணையை அகற்றும் ரொபாட் ஆகும். ரொபாட்டுகளின் குழு கடலை அலசி ஆராய்ந்து எங்கெல்லாம் எண்ணை சிந்தப்பட்டு இருக்கிறதோ அங்கெல்லாம் அவற்றை ஒரு பையில் சேகரிக்கும் அல்லது சிறிய அளவில் எண்ணை சிந்தி இருந்தால் அந்த சிந்தலை அதே இடத்தில் எரித்து விடும். குளோபல் பொஸிஷனிங் சிஸ்டம் மூலமாக ரொபாட்டுகள் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று தகவல் தொடர்பு கொண்டு இணைந்து பணியாற்றும் என்பது இந்தக் கண்டுபிடிப்பின் சிறப்பு அம்சமாகும்.

 

 

       புவியில் சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழல் கேடுகளைப் பற்றி எச்சரிக்கும் விஞ்ஞானிகள் அந்தக் கேடுகளைத் தவிர்க்க புதிய கண்டுபிடிப்புகளை அறிமுகப்படுத்துவது வரவேற்க வேண்டிய ஒன்று தானே!

 

 

      நமது கடமை சுற்றுப்புறச் சூழலை நன்கு பாதுகாக்கும் நவீன சாதனங்களைப் பற்றி அறிந்து அவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்துவதேயாகும்.

“ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை, நண்டு வேண்டாம்; சாறு விடு!” என்ற பழமொழியை எனது பிளாக்கில், மார்ச் மாத காலண்டரில் படித்தவுடன் கும்பகோணம் பிராமணரிடம் கேட்ட ஒரு கதை நினைவுக்கு வந்தது:-

 

“ஒரு பிராமணன் வேறு ஊருக்குப் போய்விட்டுத் திரும்பிவந்து கொண்டிருந்தான். நெடுந்தூர நடைப் பயணம். பசி, வயிற்றைக்கிள்ளி எடுத்தது. இரவு நேரம்; பொழுதும் சாய்ந்துவிட்டது. இனி இருட்டில் நடந்தால், மிருகங்களுக்கு இரையாவோம் என்ற அச்சம். அப்படி மிருகங்கள் கொல்லாவிட்டாலும் பசியே ஆளைக் கொன்றுவிடுமென்ற பேரச்சம்!.

 

தொலைவில் ஒரு குடிசை தெரிந்தது. அப்பாடா என்று பெருமூச்சு விட்டுக்கொண்டு அங்கே போய், கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் வாங்கிக் குடித்தார். அது பிராமணர் வீடு இல்லை என்பது நன்றாகத் தெரியும். உயிர் காக்க எதுவும் செய்யலாமே!

 

இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் நேரம் ஆயிற்று. குடிசைக்குள் பாத்திரங்கள் உருட்டும் சப்தம் கேட்டது. உள்ளே எட்டிப்பார்த்தான் பிராமணன். “என்ன சமையலா?” என்றான்.

 

“ஐயய்யோ சாமி! நீங்கள் இதெல்லாம் சாப்பிட மாட்டீர்கள். பெயர்கூட சொல்ல மாட்டோம்” – என்றாள் அந்த வீட்டு உத்தமி!

பிராமணன் வெளியே வந்தான். பசி, உயிரை வாட்டியது. மீண்டும் உள்ளே எட்டிப் பார்த்தான். “நீங்கள் எது சமைத்தாலும் பரவாயில்லை. கொஞ்சம் சாதமோ அல்லது கூழோ கொடுங்கள்” என்றான்.

அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டு மிச்சம் வைத்திருந்த கொஞ்சம் அரிசிச் சோற்றைப் போட்டர்கள். அது பிரமாணனின் ‘யானைப் பசிக்கு சோளப்பொரியாக’ அமைந்தது.

 

கேட்கவோ வெட்கம். “அந்தப் பாத்திரத்தில் என்ன?” என்று வெட்கமறியாது கேட்டபோது, “அது நண்டுக் குழம்பு என்றாள்” அவ்வீட்டுப் பெண்மணி. “பரவாயில்லை! பசி உடலை வாட்டுகிறது. கொஞ்சம் சாறு மட்டும் விடுங்கள்” என்றான். அந்த வீட்டு சத்தியவதி, பயந்துகொண்டே குழம்பை மட்டும் விட்டாள்.

 

ஐயர் பசி அடங்கவில்லை. உயிர் வாழ என்ன வேண்டுமானாலும் சாப்பிடலாம்; ஆபத்துக்கு தோஷமில்லை என்று சாத்திரங்கள் சொல்லுவது நினைவுக்கு வந்தது. “இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் சாறு விடுங்கள்” என்று சொல்லி, நண்டுக் குழம்பைச் சாப்பீட்டார். இவர் மேலும் மேலும் “விடுங்கள் ஊற்றுங்கள்!” என்று சொன்னபோது அந்த அம்மணி, தவறுதலாக சில நண்டுகளையும் தட்டில் நழுவ விட்டு விட்டாள். மிகவும் பயந்தே போனாள்; அடக் கடவுளே, ஒரு பிராமணனுக்கு அபசாரம் செய்துவிட்டோமே! உபசாரம் செய்யாவிட்டாலும் அபசாரம் செய்யக்கூடாதே என்று முகத்தில் கைவைத்து மூடிக்கொண்டாள்.

பிராமணனோ, “தானாக (தான்+ ஆக) வந்த எதையும் வேண்டாம்” என்று சொல்லக்கூடாது. ஆகையால் தப்பில்லை என்று சொல்லி அதையும் சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டு காலையில் எழுந்து ஆற்று நீரில் மூழ்கி விட்டு வீடு திரும்பினான்.

 

ஐயர் சொன்ன ‘தான்’ என்பது சாம்பார், குழம்பில் உள்ள ‘தான்’களையும் (காய்கறிகளையும்) குறிக்கும். “அதுவாக வந்த”  – என்ற பொருளையும் குறிக்கும்!

 

இது தான் “இன்று ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை, நண்டு வேண்டாம், சாறு மட்டும் விடு” –என்ற பழமொழிக்குக் காரணமோ?

Among the Romans, the deity who presided over commerce and banking was Mercury, who, by strange association, was also the god of thieves and of orators. The Romans who looked upon the merchants with contempt, fancied there was a resemblance between theft and merchandising and they easily found a figurative connection between theft and eloquence; hence thieves, merchants and orators were placed under the superintendence of the same deity.

One time in Mexico, Carleton Beals had fallen into the habit of buying two oranges from an orange woman near his house. One day, when he was planning to give a party, he undertook to buy her entire stock of four dozen oranges.

பிறர் மனதை அறிதல்

பிறரின் மனதில் என்ன நினைக்கிறார்கள் என்பதை அறிவது ஸ்வாமிஜிக்கு எளிதான ஒன்று. ஒருவர் ஸ்வாமிஜியைப் பார்க்க வரும்போதே அவர் எதற்காக வருகிறார் என்ன நினைக்கிறார் என்   பதை அவர் மிக எளிதாக அறிந்து கொள்வார்.

 

ஒரு முறை பிராணாயாமம் பற்றிக் கேட்க வேண்டுமென்று சிலர் ஸ்வாமிஜியை அணுகினர்.

 

ஸ்வாமிஜி மற்றவர்கள் கேட்ட கேள்விகளுக்கு பதில் கூறி விட்டு பிராணாயாமம் பற்றி அவர்கள் கேட்கும் முன்னரே தானாகவே அது பற்றிக் கூறலானார். வந்தவர்கள் வியந்தனர். அவர்கள் கேட்க நினைத்த சந்தேகங்களுக்கெல்லாம் அவருடைய பேச்சில் பதில் இருந்தது.பிற்பகல் மூன்று மணிக்கு ஆரம்பித்த உரை இரவு ஏழு மணிக்கு முடிந்தது.

 

 

எப்படி தாங்கள் கேட்காமலேயே அவரால் பதில் சொல்ல முடிந்தது என்று சீடர் ஒருவர் கேட்ட போது ஸ்வாமிஜி, “இது போன்ற நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மேலை நாட்டில் பல முறை நடந்துள்ளன. மக்கள் மிகுந்த ஆச்சரியத்துடன் அது பற்றி என்னிடம் கேட்டுள்ளனர்” என்றார்.

 

மனதைப் படிக்கலாமா?

 

சிஸ்டர் கிறிஸ்டைன் ஸ்வாமிஜியை விட மூன்று வயது இளையவர். அவர் ஸ்வாமிஜியிடம் தீட்சை பெற விரும்பினார்.

ஆயிரம் தீவு பூங்காவில் ஸ்வாமிஜியுடன் இருக்கும் பேறு பெற்றார் அவர். மறு நாள் பலருக்கு மந்திர தீட்சை தர ஸ்வாமிஜி உத்தேசித்திருந்தார். முதல் நாள் அவரை அழைத்த ஸ்வாமிஜி, “ உனக்கும் தீட்சை தர விரும்புகிறேன். ஆனால் உன்னை எனக்கு அவ்வளவாகத் தெரியாது.அதனால் தீட்சைக்கு நீ தயாராக இருக்கிறாயா என்பது புரியவில்லை” என்று கூறிய ஸ்வாமிஜி சற்றே தயக்கத்துடன் தொடர்ந்தார்:” என்னிடம் பிறரின் மனதைப் படிக்கும் ஆற்றல் இருக்கிறது. அதை மிகவும் அபூர்வமாகவே நான் பயன்படுத்துவேன். உனக்கும் தீட்சை தர இருப்பதால், நீ அனுமதித்தால் நான் உன் மனதைப் படிக்க விரும்புகிறேன்” என்றார்.

 

உடனே கிறிஸ்டைன், “தாராளமாகப் படியுங்கள்” என்றார்.

“முற்றிலும் படிக்கலாமா?” என்று கேட்டார் ஸ்வாமிஜி.

“படிக்கலாம்” என்று உறுதியாகக் கூறினார் அவர்.

“தைரியசாலிப் பெண் நீ” என்று அவரைப் பாராட்டிய ஸ்வாமிஜி அவரது மனதைப் படித்தார். பின்னர் கூறினார்:’ உனக்கு இன்னும் மூன்று திரைகளே உள்ளன. இப்பிறவியிலேயே உனக்கு மூன்றாவது கண் திறக்கும்” என்று கூறி அருளினார்.

பிற்காலத்தில் ஒரு முறை ஸ்வாமிஜி, மேலை நாட்டில் இந்த சக்தியைப் பயன்படுத்தியதால் தன் தவ ஆற்றல் குறைவு பட்டு விட்டது என்று கூறி வருந்தினார்

 

 

மனதின் ஆற்றல் பற்றிய உரை

 

ஏற்கனவே இந்த தொடரில் நாம் குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கும் ஸ்வாமிஜியின் மனதின் ஆற்றல் பற்றி கலிபோர்னியா லாஸ் ஏஞ்சலஸ் நகரில் 1900ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி மாதம் 8ஆம் தேதி ஆற்றிய உரையில் சில பகுதிகளை ஆங்கிலத்தில் கீழே பார்க்கலாம். இவை மனதின் ஆற்றல் பற்றிய சில புதிய விஷயங்களை விளக்கும் பகுதிகளாகும்:

Have you ever noticed the phenomenon that is called thought-transference? A man here is thinking something, and that thought is manifested in somebody else, in some other place. With preparations — not by chance — a man wants to send a thought to another mind at a distance, and this other mind knows that a thought is coming, and he receives it exactly as it is sent out. Distance makes no difference. The thought goes and reaches the other man, and he understands it. If your mind were an isolated something here, and my mind were an isolated something there, and there were no connection between the two, how would it be possible for my thought to reach you? In the ordinary cases, it is not my thought that is reaching you direct; but my thought has got to be dissolved into ethereal vibrations and those ethereal vibrations go into your brain, and they have to be resolved again into your own thoughts. Here is a dissolution of thought, and there is a resolution of thought. It is a roundabout process. But in telepathy, there is no such thing; it is direct.

 

 

I can see only at a distance of so many feet. But I have seen a man close his eyes and see what is happening in another room. If you say you do not believe it, perhaps in three weeks that man can make you do the same. It can be taught to anybody. Some persons, in five minutes even, can be made to read what is happening in another man’s mind. These facts can be demonstrated.

 

I shall tell you a story which I heard from a great scholar in the West. It was told him by a Governor of Ceylon who saw the performance. A girl was brought forward and seated cross-legged upon a stool made of sticks crossed. After she had been seated for a time, the show-man began to take out, one after another, these cross-bars; and when all were taken out, the girl was left floating in the air. The Governor thought there was some trick, so he drew his sword and violently passed it under the girl; nothing was there. Now, what was this? It was not magic or something extraordinary. That is the peculiarity. No one in India would tell you that things like this do not exist. To the Hindu it is a matter of course. You know what the Hindus would often say when they have to fight their enemies — “Oh, one of our Yogis will come and drive the whole lot out!” It is the extreme belief of the race. What power is there in the hand or the sword? The power is all in the spirit.

I came across a very rare TAMIL book on Rudrakanikas or Devadasis of the Tamil Speaking World. It was written by Anjukam of Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka in 1911. I consider this book not only rare but also valuable for future researchers. Devadasis were women dedicated to temples and they devoted their full time to dance and sing at the temple. It is part of daily worship. Dance and music are part of honours offered to God every day. Nowadays devotees do this.

 

There are no books written by Devadasis available now. Miss Anjukam also belongs to the community of Rudrakanikas alias Devadasis. She collected details from Tamil literature starting from Tamil Epics Silappadikaram and Manimegalai to the modern day. Her mother Kamalambikai was also a Rudrakanika serving a Siva temple in Colombo.

 

Old women writers are not recognised. They are completely ignored by the male dominated literary world. I come across a new woman writer every week at the British Library who found no place in the later Tamil writings. Tamils knew only KarIkal Ammaiyar, Andal and Avvaiyar and the later writers were not listed.

 

Rig Veda, the oldest religious book in the world mentioned at least 20 poetesses. Sangam Tamil literature which came 1500 years after the Vedas also had the poems of over 20 poetesses. Several souvenirs released by the popular Tamil magazines and World Tamil Conferences forgot to mention the contribution of 19th and 20th century women writers. Lot of novels and poems were written by them.

 

Anjukam is one of those forgotten writers. She was bold enough to write about a subject which no one else would dare to touch. She was well versed in Saivite literature and knew very well about the Devadasi system that existed in Shiva temples of ancient Tamil Nadu. Anjukam has consulted Saivite scholars and took references from 45 Tamil works. RAJARAJAN, one of the greatest Choza Kings, inscribed the beautiful names of all the 400 Devadasis employed by him n the Big Temple in Thanjavur.

 

Anjukam had collected the profile of 30 temple or Royal dancers and had written in a high style. Stories of Madhavi and Manimegalai are known to many Tamils . She had collected more names who were famous in the regions where they lived. She divided them into two groups of good and bad women. Epic woman Madhavi earned a bad name because she lived with a married man Kovalan. Paravai, wife of the Saivite Saint Sundaramurthy Nayanar and others lead a decent life.

Several Unknown stories or locally known stories in the book are very interesting to read. One of them is the story of Kondiammal of Tiruvarur. She was a devoted dancing girl attached to the famous Shiva temple there. Tiruvarur chariot (Ther) is one of the biggest chariots in Tamil Nadu. During the Panguni Uttaram festival it will be pulled like the chariots of Puri Jagannath. During Chola period the chariot festival day was celebrated on a grand scale. During one year they met with a problem. In spite of the efforts of thousands of devotees assembled there the chariot did not budge even an inch. The king tried all the tricks but it did not work. He went to bed with the worries and he had a strange dream. God told him that If he called the dancer Kondiammal to honour the god with chowries (Whisk, bushy tail of a Yak) then the chariot would move. As soon as he woke up in the morning, he sent for Kondiammal and she was brought to the chariot with all the Royal honours. She willingly came forward to do the job ordered by the king,  but put a few conditions to the King. The conditions were that she should be cremated on the banks of River Kaveri after her death. She also asked the king to erect one Ganesh temple at every mile from her house to the river banks. Choza king not only accepted her conditions, but also executed them faithfully after her death. Thus Devadasi Kondiammal left her memories for posterity.

Anajanakshi, Abirami, Abishekavalli, Amporsilambi, Arunagirinathar’s mother, Kuththaal, Kondiammal, Shanmukavadivu, Chintamaniratnam, Silambi, Sirkazik Kanikai, Somi, Njanavalli, Tiruvaranai Panneerayiravar, Tiruvarunaik kanikai,Paravaiyar, Punkotai, Ponnanaiyar,Manimegalai,Madanasundari, Madanabishekam,Manonmani, Manikkavalli, Her daughter, Manikka Nachiyar, Madhavi, Mananthai, Mohanangi, Vilasavathy, Vellaiyammal, Kamatchi, Kamalambikai, Santhanavalli and Anjukam.

பிரிட்டிஷ் லைப்ரரியில் இலங்கை கொழும்பு நகரைச் சேர்ந்த ருத்ர கணிகை அஞ்சுகம், 1911ஆம் ஆண்டில் எழுதிய புத்தகம் கிடைத்தது. அதில் கிடைத்த வேட்டைத் திருநாள் உற்சவ மகிமைக் கதையைக் கீழே கொடுக்கிறேன். பக்கங்களைப் படிக்க முடியாதவர்கள் அல்லது பழைய தமிழ் நடை புரியாதவர்கள் முதலில் சுருக்கக் கதையைப் படியுங்கள்:-

 

 

 

 

கதைச் சுருக்கம்:

அர்ஜுனன் பாசுபதாஸ்திரம் வேண்டி தவம் செய்தான். அப்பொழுது, துர்யோதனின் ஏவலின் பேரில் முகாசுரன் என்னும் அசுரன் பன்றி உருவம் கொண்டு அர்ஜுனனைத் தாக்க வந்தான். அர்ஜுனனைக் காப்பாற்றுவதற்காக சிவபெருமானும் வேடன் உரு தாங்கி வந்தான். அடிபட்ட பன்றி ஒரு முனிவனிடம் தஞ்சமடைய அர்ஜுனனும், சிவபெருமானும் தானே பன்றியை முதலில் வில்லால் அடித்ததால் தனக்கே சொந்தமென்று உரிமை கொண்டாடுகின்றனர்.

இருவரும் இது குறித்து பெரும் சண்டையில் ஈடுபட்டவுடன், தேவர்கள் அனைவரும் கூடினர். அப்பொழுதுதான் அர்ஜுனனுக்கு, தான் யாரைக் குறித்து தவம் செய்தானோ அந்த சிவ பெருமானே நேரில் வந்ததைக் கண்டு காலில் விழுகிறான். சிவனும், அர்ஜுனனின் பக்தியை மெச்சி, அவன் கேட்ட பாசு பத அஸ்திரத்தைத் தருகிறான். ஆனால் வேடனென்று தன்னை ஏசியதால், அர்ஜுனனும் ஒரு ஜன்மத்தில் காளஹஸ்தியில் வேடனாகப் பிறந்து சிவனை அடைவான் என்று ஒரு சிறிய சாபம் இடுகிறார். அவரே காளஹஸ்தியில் பிறந்த திண்ணன் என்னும் கண்ணப்ப நாயனார் ஆவார்.

 

இந்த சிவனின் வேடமே, சிவன் கோவில் உற்சவங்களில் எட்டாம் நாளன்று வேட்டைத் திருநாளாகக் கொண்டாடப் படுகிறதென்றும், அவ்வாறு வேடுவ வேடம் தரித்து சுவாமிக்கு முன்னால் செல்லும் உரிமை ருத்ர கணிகைகளுக்கே உண்டு என்றும் ஆதாரங்களுடன் எழுதுகிறார் அஞ்சுகம்.

“நமது தொழில்நுட்பம் மனிதகுலத்தையும் மீறி விட்டது” – ஐன்ஸ்டீன்

 

18ஆம் தேதி,  பிப்ரவரி மாதம், ஆண்டு 2016.

இடம் : TED2016 மாநாடு வான்கூவர், கனடாவில் உள்ள ஒரு அரங்கம்.

இங்கு உலகின் அதிசயமான அறிவியல் நிகழ்வு ஒன்று நடந்தது.

ஹாலோ லென்ஸ் என்ற புதிய லென்ஸ் ஒன்றைத் தயாரித்த அலெக்ஸ் கிப்மேன் என்பவர்,  நாஸா விஞ்ஞானியான ஜெஃப் நோரிஸை டெலிபோர்ட் செய்து கனடா அரங்கத்தில்  செவ்வாய் கிரகத்தின் மேற்பரப்பில் அவரை நிற்க வைத்துக் காண்பித்தார்.

“ஆஹா, அந்த லென்ஸ் வேலை செய்கிறது” என்று உற்சாகமாக உரக்கக் கூவினார் .அலெக்ஸ்.

 

நாஸா விஞ்ஞானி நோரிஸ் அப்போது ஒரே சமயத்தில் நிஜமாக மூன்று இடங்களில் இருந்தார்.

 

முதலாவதாக அவர் தனது அறையிலேயே இருந்தார். ஹாலோகிராம் முறைப்படி ஒரு இடம் விட்டு இன்னொரு இடம் மாற்றப்படவே அவர் கனடாவில் உள்ள அரங்கத்தில் இருந்தார். அந்த அரங்கத்திலும் பல லட்சம் மைல்களுக்கு அப்பால் உள்ள செவ்வாய் கிரக பரப்பு அமைக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததால் அந்தப் பரப்பின் மீது அவர் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார்.

 

ஆக, ஒரே சமயத்தில் மூன்று இடங்களில் அறிவியல் சாதனை மூலம் நோரிஸ் இருந்தார். இந்த நிகழ்வுக்குப் பெயர் ஹாலோகிராபிக்       ட்ரான்ஸ்போர்டேஷன் என்று பெயர்!

அறிவியல் அறிஞர் வாழ்வில் .. ..

 

மறைந்த பாரத ஜனாதிபதியும் மாபெரும் விஞ்ஞானியுமான அப்துல்கலாம் இந்திய விண்வெளி ஆய்வு நிறுவனமான ஐ எஸ் ஆர் ஓவில் (ISRO), ஆரம்ப காலத்தில், வேலை பார்த்த போது ஒரு சர்ச்சில் தான் விஞ்ஞானிகள் அனைவரும் பணிகளைச் செய்து வந்தனர். அருகில் இருந்த பீச் தான் அவர்களது ராக்கெட் ஏவு தளம். ராக்கெட்டின் பாகங்களோ சைக்கிளில் தான் கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டன!

 

அவர் இயக்குநராக இருக்கும் போது தான் ஸ்பேஸ் லாஞ்ச் வெஹிகிள் எனப்படும் எஸ் எல் வி (SLV II) ரக ராக்கெட்டுகள் தயாரிக்கபட்டன. இந்திரா காந்தி பிரதமராக இருந்த காலத்தில் அட்வான்ஸ்ட் மிஸைல் திட்டம் துவங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று அவரிடம் வலியுறுத்தி அதில் அவர் வெற்றியும் பெற்றார்.

ஒரு முறை ஒரு விழாவில் கலந்து கொள்ளச் சென்ற போது அங்கிருந்த மாணவர்கள் அவருடன் போட்டோ எடுத்துக் கொள்ள விரும்பினர். அவர்கள் விருப்பப்படியே ஒவ்வொருவரும் தனித் தனியே தன்னுடன் போட்டோ எடுக்க அவர் அனுமதித்தார். விழா துவங்கும் நேரம் நெருங்கவே அமைப்பாளர் கலாம் அவர்களை நோக்கி, ‘விழாவிற்குப் போகவேண்டும்” என்று துரிதப் படுத்திநார்.

அவரை அமைதிப் படுத்திய கலாம் இந்த போட்டோ செஷன் முடிந்தால் தான் விழா துவங்கும் எந்று தீர்க்கமாக அறிவித்து விட்டார்.

 

எல்லா மாணவர்களுடனும் போட்டோ எடுத்து முடிந்த பின்னரே விழா துவங்கப்பட்டது.

 

மாணவர்கள் மீது அவ்வளவு பாசம் கொண்ட மாபெரும் மனிதர் அவர்!
