Tiru Valluvar has declared himself a Sanatani Hindu in chapter seven. It is about children. Hindus believe that they should have at least one male child who can earn for the family and who can do the cremation of his parents at the end of their journey on earth. It is in Sangam Tamil literature as well. When poet Poththiyar came to join the Fast unto Death ritual called Facing North, he was sent back; the reason was that he was yet to get a male child in the family. Manu Smritis explained the word Putra as one who release his parents from the hell. Tiru Valluvar echoed Manu in couplet 62.
He used the word SEVEN BIRTHS in couplet 62 which is a Hindu belief.
He also used Sanskrit word AMRIT in couplet 64. That shows Tamils were well versed in the Hindu episode of Churning the Milky Ocean.
Amrit is used in Sangam literature with three different spellings!
Brahmins in their Tithi or Tarpanam pay tributes to seven generations (3+3+1). Another interpretation for 7 births is from Plants, Animals to Man and Super Man (deva)

Because the Son delivers his father from the hell called ‘Put,’ therefore has he been called ‘Putra,’ ‘Deliverer from Put,’ by the Self-existent One Himself.—(9-138)
How do in know that Valluvar and others knew Manu Smriti very well?
Puthalva is the Tamilized form of PUTRA (R=L change is very common in Linguistics) Sangam poets used Puthalva in over 70 places in their 18 books!

Andal in Tiruppavai used this Etraikkum Ezel Piravikkum
எற்றைக்கும் ஏழ் ஏழ் பிறவிக்கும் உன் தன்னோடு
உற்றோமே ஆவோம் உனக்கே நாம் ஆட்செய்வோம்
Medhātithi’s commentary (manubhāṣya):
He becomes the sanctifier of his company; ‘company’ stands here for a number of persons arranged in a particular order; this ‘he purifies,’ makes free from taint; i.e., all sinful men, by associating with him, become sinless.
‘Kindreds’—persons born in his own family ;—‘seven higher,’ those above him, the Father &c., and ‘seven lower,’ those that are to come, yet to be born.
He alone is entitled to receive the gift of this earth extending to the oceans; ‘knowledge of Dharma’ establishes a claim to become the recipient; hence it is that a full knowledge of Dharma is sought to be acquired.—(1-105)
